Mushroom enhanced beverage composition and method of preparation

Abstract

The invention relates to a mushroom enhanced beverage composition comprising mushroom powder derived from Pleurotus species and a beverage base selected from coffee powder derived from Coffea species and tea material derived from Camellia sinensis. The composition comprises10% to 50% mushroom powder and 50% to 90% beverage base by weight. The invention further discloses a method of preparing the composition including drying and grinding mushrooms and blending them with the beverage base. The composition may be packaged in sachets or diffusible bags for rapid preparation of a beverage by immersion in hot water
