Abstract
The present utility model is a process for producing a sustainable composite fiber yarn for use in crochet and textiles. The process utilizes discarded banana pseudostems that are not freshly cut to facilitate fiber extraction using a manual, handmade decorticator tool. To enhance softness and tensile strength, the extracted fibers are blended with cotton fibers in a 70:30 mass ratio. The yarn is colored using natural plant-based tannins from sources such as turmeric and annatto through a boiling process lasting up to 5 hours. The resulting product is a biodegradable, high-tensile yarn that serves as an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic materials.
