They are capable of providing detailed information about the behavior and actions of individuals. Further, adding a plurality of radars, such as a dual radar system for a couple, is an excellent enhancement to the sensor system described in the invention, without limiting the embodiment of a single radar to manage a couple in bed. With multiple radars, the system can achieve a higher level of precision in detecting and tracking the movements and behaviors of individuals.

[0069] In the case of a couple sharing a bed, the radar system (whether single or multiple) can differentiate between the movements of each individual. This allows for personalized monitoring and data collection, which can be crucial for assessing the health and sleep quality of each person independently. Such radar embodiments can work to cross-verify detected events, reducing the likelihood of false alarms. Each radar unit can focus on a specific area or individual, allowing for detailed tracking and analysis. This level of granularity enhances the system's capacity for personalized monitoring, ensuring that the unique health and sleep patterns of each individual are accurately captured. Moreover, the use of multiple radars enables the cross-verification of detected events. This redundancy not only reduces the likelihood of false alarms but also increases the overall reliability of the monitoring system. The invention allows for the incorporation of various other sensors and technologies that contribute to comprehensive surveillance and monitoring. These additional sensors are also equipped with processing and communication capabilities, enhancing the system's ability to collect, process, and transmit data effectively.

[0070] The sensor module is integrated into a ceiling fan or a similar device, which is positioned above the bed. This module's primary function is to detect human presence, physical cues, sleep patterns, behavior, and movements in and around the bed area. The sensor integration, as described in the invention, is a crucial aspect of the system's architecture. It involves the incorporation of a sensor module within various configurations, and this integration plays a central role in the system's functionality. The core feature of the invention is the integration of a sensor module into different types of devices. This integration can take various forms:

[0071] The sensor module serves several primary functions, contributing to the comprehensive surveillance and monitoring of individuals: The sensor module is designed to detect the presence of individuals in and around the bed area. This is essential for understanding occupancy and movement. It can capture physical cues such as body movements, postures, and behaviors. This data is valuable for analyzing sleep patterns and assessing the well-being of individuals. The sensor module is equipped to monitor sleep patterns. It can identify sleep disturbances, restlessness, and sleep quality, providing valuable insights for improving sleep environments. The primary purpose of this sensor is to measure the ambient temperature in the room where the system is deployed. The temperature sensor continuously monitors and records the temperature in the room. This data provides valuable information about the environmental conditions in the monitored space.

[0073] The invention may incorporate a humidity sensor, which is typically positioned outside the sensor housing. The primary purpose of this sensor is to measure the humidity in the room where the system is deployed. The humidity sensor continuously monitors and records the humidity in the room. This data provides valuable information about the environmental conditions in the monitored space.

[0074] Environmental Data: The temperature and humidity readings from the sensors offer insights into the room's comfort and climate. They can detect changes in temperature and humidity, including fluctuations in heating, cooling, levels of air comfort or other ambient states.

[0075] The ambient temperature and humidity can have a significant impact on an individual's sleep quality and comfort. By measuring the room's temperature and humidity, the system can assess how temperature and humidity variations may be affecting the occupants' sleep patterns and well-being.

[0076] The system is powered from the appliance's power source, but it can also have a battery power source for backup if necessary. The sensor operates in a low-power sensing mode when there is no one in the bed or cot and switches to full functionality based on motion detection or occupancy triggers. The system's power management strategy involves two primary options:

[0077] a) Appliance Power Source: The system is primarily designed to be powered from the appliance power source. In this configuration, it draws its electrical power from the same source that powers the appliance it is integrated with, such as the ceiling fan or similar device.

[0078] b) Battery Power Source: Additionally, the system can also incorporate a battery power source, which is used as a backup or alternative power supply. This battery can provide power to the system when needed.

[0079] The primary power source, which is typically the appliance power source, ensures continuous operation of the system. This is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted monitoring and surveillance. By having a backup battery power source, the system gains an extra layer of reliability. This cloud represents a complete detection of all physical surfaces within the radar's coverage area. Each detected point is precisely located in three-dimensional space (x, y, z) and assigned a radial velocity, which includes stationary points (radial velocity "0") relative to the radar module's position.

[0146] Grouping and Center of Gravity Calculation: The next step involves grouping the detected radar points into separate objects, including individuals, babies, pets, and other targets. This grouping process generates a center of gravity for each group, along with their respective locations (x, y, z) and radial velocities in relation to the radar module's position.

[0147] Classification of Grouped Radar Returns: The system then classifies these grouped radar returns, referred to as "targets," into categories such as persons, babies, or other specified classes like pets or wheelchairs. Each group of radar returns is individually identified as a "target."

[0148] Continuous Motion Monitoring and Posture Classification: Human targets, including adults in a bed, children or toddlers in a bed, and babies in a cot, are subject to continuous monitoring. Changes in their posture, movements, and behavior are observed and classified. This classification can include identifying states such as restful sleep, restlessness, agitation, awakening, getting out of bed, walking away from the bed, or approaching a door, among others.

[0149] Continuous Physical State Classification: Throughout this entire process, the system continuously classifies the physical state of all detected human targets. This classification involves assessing factors such as posture, level of mobility, depth of sleep, and predefined states, often employing artificial intelligence algorithms to make these determinations.
