Description

Sticky tape for attracting and capturing walking pests

[0001] The present invention relates to a walking pest attracting, sticky capture tape that attracts walking pests and traps them by adhering to them with its sticky surface, and in particular to a walking pest attracting, sticky capture tape that has an sticky surface that captures walking pests and an adhesive surface that fixes the tape to the capture location.

[0002] In recent years, damage caused by walking pests that bite and sting humans and animals has become a problem, and various methods for controlling and trapping devices for these pests have been proposed. For example, Patent Document 1, referring to FIG. 2, describes a mite trapping sheet comprising an adhesive sheet 3 for trapping mites and a resin sheet 4 that is provided on the adhesive sheet 3 and contains an attractant. The resin sheet 4 has a plurality of resin sheet openings 5 formed therein for exposing the adhesive sheet 3. The mite trapping sheet of Patent Document 1 is capable of efficiently trapping mites by attracting them.

[0003] Patent Document 2, with reference to Figure 1, describes an anti-mite sheet that is a laminated sheet made up of multiple layers, with outer sheet layers 2 on the front and back sides and a layer of attractant layer 3 between them, integrating these three layers. The attractant layer 3 is made of nonwoven fabric coated with an adhesive and a mite attractant. The anti-mite sheet of Patent Document 2 is designed to capture individual mites.

[0004] Patent Document 3, with reference to Figure 1, describes an insect barrier tape that is a double-sided tape having an adhesive surface and an adhesive surface, and includes a substrate 2, an adhesive layer 3 provided on the surface of the substrate 2, and an attachment layer 4 provided on the surface of the substrate 2 opposite the adhesive layer 3. The surface of the adhesive layer 3 exhibits adhesive strength sufficient to repel walking pests by trapping their feet and preventing their intrusion. Furthermore, the adhesive layer 3 is said to contain an insect repellent, or to contain an attractant in an amount sufficient to exhibit insect repellent properties, exceeding the amount required for an attractant to exhibit an attractive effect.

[0005] The insect barrier tape of Patent Document 3 can prevent crawling pests outside a specific area from walking into that area, and can also prevent crawling pests inside the specific area from spreading outside the area.

[0006] JP 2017-158456 A JP 2002-253103 A International Publication No. 2021 / 019894

[0007] Dust mites, which have weak leg strength, can be captured relatively easily by attracting them to the surface of the adhesive layer. In contrast, spider mites and bed bugs, which have strong leg strength, cannot be captured because the adhesive layer of the mite-trapping adhesive tape does not have enough adhesive strength to stop their movement.

[0008] Insect barrier tape takes advantage of the natural tendency of walking pests to dislike stickiness, preventing them from crossing the sticky layer and thus preventing their invasion and spread. In other words, while insect barrier tape is effective in repelling walking pests, it does not effectively capture them.

[0009] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and its object is to provide an adhesive tape for attracting and capturing walking pests, which can efficiently capture walking pests.

[0023] It is a cross-sectional view showing the structure of an adhesive trap tape according to one embodiment of the present invention. It is a schematic diagram showing an example of a system for evaluating the trapping performance of a walking pest attracting adhesive trap tape.

[0024] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments.

[0025] In addition, in the present invention, walking pests refer to species of pests that move by walking, such as pests that cause harm by biting or stinging the human body, and nuisance pests that have little direct effect on the human body but cause discomfort.

[0026] The walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape of the present invention is used to capture walking pests. The walking pests targeted for capture by the walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape of the present invention are relatively large species with stronger legs than house dust mites. These walking pests have strong legs to support their relatively large bodies, and because their legs are needle-like, they make point contact with the adhesive surface, meaning that the adhesive layer of a typical adhesive tape for capturing mites does not have enough adhesive strength to stop their movement. The walking pests are species whose adult body length is, for example, 1 mm or more, preferably 1 to 30 mm, more preferably 2 to 15 mm, and even more preferably 3 to 10 mm.

[0027] The body length here refers to the dimension from the tip of the head to the rear end of the body of the walking pest, excluding the antennae and legs. The body length of an adult walking pest can be, for example, the average body length of 10 adults.

[0028] Examples of the walking pests include bedbugs, ants, cockroaches, centipedes, millipedes, spiders, etc. A particularly preferred walking pest to be trapped is bedbugs.

[0029] <Structure of Walking Pest Attracting Adhesive Capture Tape> Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view showing the structure of walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape 1 of this embodiment is made of a double-sided tape including a substrate 2, an adhesive layer 3 provided on the surface of substrate 2, and an adhesive layer 4 provided on the surface of substrate 2 opposite to the adhesive layer 3. This double-sided tape has an adhesive surface 3a which is the exposed surface of adhesive layer 3, and an adhesive surface 4a which is the exposed surface of adhesive layer 4.

[0030] The adhesive surface 3a is a surface that functions to adhere to and capture walking pests. A release liner may be attached to the adhesive surface 3a before use to protect it from damage during storage and transportation. On the other hand, when the release liner is peeled off and the adhesive surface 3a is used, the entire surface is exposed to the surrounding environment and has no layer thereon. This can sufficiently improve the adhesive strength of the adhesive surface 3a.

[0031] The adhesive strength of the adhesive surface 3a is 10 N / 25 mm or more. This is because an adhesive strength of less than 10 N / 25 mm is insufficient to trap walking pests through adhesion. The adhesive strength of the adhesive surface 3a is preferably 20 to 100 N / 25 mm, and more preferably 25 to 50 N / 25 mm. The adhesive strength here can be measured, for example, by the adhesive strength test method specified in JIS Z0237.

[0032] In one embodiment, the adhesive tape 1 for attracting and capturing walking pests of the present invention may have an adhesive strength of the adhesive surface 3a of, for example, more than 30 N / 25 mm and not more than 60 N / 25 mm, preferably 33 to 55 N / 25 mm, more preferably 33 to 45 N / 25 mm, and even more preferably 35 to 41 N / 25 mm.

[0033] <Insect attractant> The walking pest attracting and adhesive capture tape 1 of the present invention contains an insect attractant. By containing the attractant, walking pests can be attracted and led to the adhesive surface 3a, thereby improving the capture efficiency. The insect attractant can be contained in any of the components, any one layer, or at least a part of these components that make up the walking pest attracting and adhesive capture tape 1.

[0034] The insect attractant is not particularly limited as long as it has the function of attracting crawling pests, and can be selected from, for example, lactic acid, hexenal, octenal, hexanone, dimethyl disulfide, and dimethyl trisulfide. Among these, lactic acid, hexenal, and octenal are preferably used because they have a low odor and exhibit appropriate transpiration properties. Furthermore, as a more preferred insect attractant, lactic acid can be used, which has a lower odor and is low cost.

[0035] These insect attractants can be blended in advance into the adhesive that forms the adhesive layer 3, for example. In this case, the attractant is released from the adhesive surface 3a, and the attractant effect and adhesive strength can efficiently capture walking pests. These insect attractants may be used alone or in combination of two or more. Furthermore, these insect attractants may be blended into the material of the substrate 2 or the adhesive layer 4 described above.

[0036] The content of the insect attractant is not particularly limited, but the amount to be added can be determined taking into consideration the effect on adhesive properties of the insect attractant when it is added to the adhesive layer 3. Usually, about 0.1 to 1% by weight of the insect attractant is added to the adhesive layer 3, although this depends on the effect of the insect attractant.

[0037] The insect attracting effect of an insect attractant is affected by the type and amount of substance used. Even if the same type of substance is used, it may exhibit an insect attracting effect or an insect repellent effect depending on the amount used. From this perspective, the content of the insect attractant in the adhesive layer 3 may be, for example, less than 10 parts by mass, preferably 0.1 to 9 parts by mass, more preferably 0.3 to 7 parts by mass, and even more preferably 0.5 to 5 parts by mass, per 100 parts by mass of the adhesive layer 3.

[0038] <Lightness> The walking pest attracting, adhesive capture tape 1 of the present invention preferably has a lightness (L*) value of 40 or less on the adhesive surface 3a when the adhesive layer 4 is attached to any surface. Many walking pests prefer dark places, and lowering the lightness increases the attracting effect of walking pests and improves capture performance. The lightness of the walking pest attracting, adhesive capture tape 1 is preferably 2 to 20, more preferably 5 to 15. The any surface is generally the location where walking pests are captured. A typical example is the surface to which the adhesive layer is attached when measuring the lightness of the walking pest attracting, adhesive capture tape in the examples.

[0039] In one embodiment, the walking pest attracting, sticky capture tape 1 of the present invention may have a brightness (L*) value of the adhesive surface 3a of, for example, 30 or less, preferably 6 to 14, and more preferably 7 to 12.

[0040] <Surface Roughness> The walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape 1 of the present invention preferably has a surface roughness (Ra) of 50 to 1200 μm on the exposed adhesive surface 3a when attached to any surface. Walking pests have pointed feet, which make point contact with the adhesive surface 3a. Therefore, even if the adhesive strength is increased, the adhesive surface 3a may not adhere sufficiently to the feet, making it difficult to restrain them. On the other hand, if the adhesive surface 3a has unevenness, the body of the pest will come into contact with the convex parts of the adhesive surface 3a when walking on it, causing the adhesive surface 3a to adhere strongly to the relatively flat body part, thereby stopping movement. Large walking pests in particular have large spaces between their legs, making their body more likely to come into contact with the convex parts.

[0041] In one embodiment, the walking pest attracting, adhesive capture tape 1 of the present invention may have a surface roughness (Ra) of the adhesive surface 3a of, for example, 200 to 600 μm, preferably 203 to 490 μm, and more preferably 211 to 450 μm.

[0042] The surface roughness (Ra) of the adhesive surface 3a is more preferably 100 to 1000, and even more preferably 200 to 600. When Ra is in the range of 50 to 1200 μm, the capture rate is good, the adhesive can be easily applied evenly to convex portions, and the flexibility of the tape is ensured, making it easy to apply to curved surfaces. The arbitrary surface is generally the location where walking pests are captured. A typical example is the surface to which the adhesive layer is attached when measuring the surface roughness of a walking pest attracting, adhesive, and capture tape in the examples.

[0043] <Substrate> The substrate 2 of the walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape 1 can be made of a fiber structure such as paper, nonwoven fabric, woven fabric, or knitted fabric, and in particular, paper, nonwoven fabric, woven fabric, or knitted fabric with fine surface irregularities is preferred in order to keep the surface roughness (Ra) of the adhesive surface 3a within the range specified in the present application. The thickness of the substrate 2 is not particularly limited, but may be appropriately determined between 10 and 100 μm, for example. The basis weight of the substrate 2 is 10 to 100 g / m 2 , preferably 15 to 80 g / m 2 , more preferably 20 to 50 g / m 2 When the basis weight of the substrate 2 is within the above range, it becomes easier to adjust the surface roughness (Ra) of the adhesive surface 3a to be within the above range.

[0044] The substrate 2 may be transparent or colored, but it is preferable to use a colored type, particularly a black type, in order to adjust the lightness (L*) of the adhesive surface 3a of the walking pest attracting, adhesive, and capture tape 1 of the present invention to the range specified in this specification when the adhesive layer 4 is attached to any surface. When the substrate 2 is a colored or black type, it is more preferable that the lightness (L*) value of the substrate 2 is 40 or less.

[0045] <Adhesive Layer> The adhesive layer 3 is a member that functions to adhere to and capture walking pests via its adhesive surface 3a. This adhesive layer 3 can be formed from an adhesive such as an acrylic, rubber, hot melt, SIS block, or silicone adhesive. These adhesives may be used alone or in combination of two or more.

[0046] The thickness of the adhesive layer 3 is not particularly limited, but may be appropriately determined between 50 and 120 μm, for example. When the adhesive layer 3 is formed by applying an adhesive to the substrate 2, the amount of the adhesive applied is, for example, 5 to 100 g / m 2 , preferably 10 to 80 g / m 2 , more preferably 20 to 70 g / m 2 By adjusting the coating amount of the adhesive to fall within the above range, it becomes easier to increase the adhesive strength while maintaining the surface roughness of the adhesive surface 3 a. From the viewpoint of adjusting the adhesive strength of the adhesive surface 3 a, a plasticizer or a crosslinking agent may be blended into the adhesive forming the adhesive layer 3.

[0047] In addition, in order to adjust the brightness (L*) of the adhesive surface 3a of the walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape 1 of the present invention to the above range when the adhesive layer 4 is stuck to any surface, a black pigment can be blended into the adhesive layer 3 itself. When a black pigment is blended into the adhesive layer 3 itself, it is more preferable that the brightness (L*) value of the adhesive layer 3 is 40 or less.

[0048] 1, the walking pest attracting, adhesive, and capture tape 1 of the present invention has an adhesive layer 4 for attachment to a surface to be adhered, on the surface of the substrate 2 opposite to the adhesive layer 3. Therefore, for example, when the attracting adhesive tape 1 is placed vertically and attached to a wall, the walking pest attracting, adhesive, and capture tape 1 can be easily attached to the surface to be adhered to the wall.

[0049] The adhesive layer 4 can be formed from an adhesive such as an acrylic, rubber, hot melt, SIS block, or silicone adhesive. These adhesives may be used alone or in combination of two or more.

[0050] In addition, from a practical standpoint, it is preferable to use an adhesive that has relatively good releasability so that the adhesive does not stick to the adherend when peeled off after being attached to the adherend. The adhesive forming the adhesive layer 4 may also be blended with the above-mentioned insect repellent.

[0051] The thickness of the adhesive layer 4 is not particularly limited, but may be appropriately determined between 30 and 80 μm, for example.

[0052] <Width of walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape> The width of the walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape 1 of the present invention is not particularly limited, but in practical terms, a range of 10 to 500 mm is preferable. A certain width and a certain adhesive strength are effective in preventing walking pests from crossing. From the viewpoint of practical ease of handling when attaching and removing, the width of the walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape 1 is more preferably 30 to 50 mm.

[0053] <Method for producing adhesive tape for attracting and capturing walking pests> Next, an example of a method for producing the adhesive tape for attracting and capturing walking pests of the present invention will be described.

[0054] First, a base material 2 made of spunbond nonwoven fabric made from polypropylene is prepared, and then a double-sided adhesive sheet made of, for example, the adhesive that will form adhesive layer 3 is adhered to one side of this base material 2, and a double-sided adhesive sheet made of the adhesive that will form adhesive layer 4 is adhered to the surface of the base material 2 opposite to the adhesive layer 3 side, thereby producing a walking pest attracting, adhesive, and capture tape 1.

[0055] In addition, the walking pest attracting, adhesive capture tape 1 may be manufactured by applying an adhesive that constitutes the adhesive layer 3 to one side of the base material 2 and applying an adhesive that constitutes the adhesive layer 4 to the surface of the base material 2 opposite the adhesive layer 3 side.

[0056] The present invention will be described below based on examples. Note that the present invention is not limited to these examples, and these examples can be modified or changed based on the spirit of the present invention, and such modifications are not excluded from the scope of the present invention. The component proportions specified in the examples by ratio, parts, etc. are based on mass.

[0057] (Adhesive strength test method) The adhesive strength of the adhesive layer was measured in accordance with JIS Z0237 (2009) "10 Adhesive strength." The adhesive layer side of the walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape was attached to a stainless steel test plate, and the adhesive strength (N / 25 mm) was measured using a test method (10.3 Test Method, Method 1) in which the tape was peeled off at an angle of 180 degrees. The adhesive strength unit "N / 25 mm" represents the force per 25 mm of tape width.

[0058] (Lightness L* Measurement Method) Lightness L* was measured in accordance with JIS L1923 (2017) "8.2 B Method (Instrumental Method)." The adhesive layer side of the walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape was attached to white Kent paper (Kokuyo SE-KP19). The release paper on the adhesive layer was peeled off, and the coordinate values of the L*a*b* color system of the surface were measured using a spectrophotometer (Konica Minolta CM-3700A) to determine the lightness L*.

[0059] (Surface roughness measurement method) The adhesive layer side of the walking pest attracting and sticky capture tape was attached to white Kent paper (Kokuyo SE-KP19). The release paper on the adhesive layer was peeled off, and the surface roughness Ra (μm) was measured using a 3D laser microscope (Olympus OLS5100) in accordance with the measurement method of JIS B0601 (2013) "4.2.1 Arithmetic mean roughness".

[0060] (Performance Evaluation of Walking Pest Attractive Sticky Capture Tape) Figure 2 is a schematic diagram showing an example of a system for evaluating the capture performance of walking pest attractive sticky capture tape. First, filter paper 11 was laid on the floor of a rectangular plastic container 10 with a volume of 5200 mL, and the adhesive layer 4 of walking pest attractive sticky capture tape 1 was attached to the floor and side wall surfaces so as to partition the container into left and right halves near the center, with the adhesive surface 3a exposed. Next, 10 adult bed bugs were prepared. The average body length of the 10 bed bugs was 5.6 mm. Ten bed bugs B were placed in one space of the plastic container 10 partitioned by the walking pest attractive sticky capture tape 1, and shaved mice housed in small cages 12 were placed in the other space.

[0061] In the above system, the room was kept at a room temperature of 22 to 28°C and a relative humidity of 20 to 52%, with the indoor lights turned on for 12 hours and then turned off for 12 hours, and after 48 hours, the number of bed bugs captured by the walking pest attracting sticky capture tape 1 was counted. The capture rate was then calculated using the following formula (1). The above process was carried out three times, and the average capture rate for the three times is shown in Table 1.

[0062] Capture rate (%) = {Number of captured bed bugs / Total number of introduced bed bugs} × 100 (1)

The adhesive strength, brightness, and surface roughness were measured, and a bed bug capture rate test was conducted. The results are shown in Table 1.

[0074]

[0075] As shown in Table 1, by including an attractant and having an adhesive strength of 10 N / 25 mm or more, bed bugs can be captured efficiently. Furthermore, by making the color black with an L* of 40 or less and by making the surface roughness Ra of 50 or more, the capture efficiency can be increased. In Comparative Example 3, the amount of lactic acid used was large, and the insect repellent effect was activated, so bed bugs did not approach the walking pest attracting adhesive capture tape itself, and the capture efficiency was low.

[0076] As described above, the present invention is useful as an adhesive tape for attracting and trapping walking pests, which efficiently traps walking pests on its adhesive surface.
