The implementations of this application provide a method for collecting data statistics. The method can be applied to a receiver. In the implementations of this application, the number of corrected bits in a codeword is considered to reflect the quality of communication provided by a transmission channel and whether a data processing operation at the receiver is abnormal. Therefore, counters P are defined in this application, where P can be an integer greater than or equal to 3. The counters P can count, respectively, based on the number of corrected bits in each codeword in a data stream, the number of codewords with different numbers of corrected bits in the data stream.Therefore, after receiving the data stream, the receiver can use the counters P to record the number of code words with different amounts of corrected bits in the data stream, and then perform data processing based on statistical parameters.
