Abstract
Overvoltage protection circuits and devices are disclosed. An example relates to an overvoltage protection circuit (10) for use in a device interface (102) suitable for transmitting at least electrical energy. The overvoltage protection circuit (10) includes a first terminal and a second terminal (12, 14) and a normally-on transistor (20). The normally-on transistor (20) is electrically coupled to the first terminal and the second terminal (12, 14). The overvoltage protection circuit (10) also includes a control circuit (30) configured to turn off the normally-on transistor (20) based on at least one of a voltage at the first terminal (12) and a voltage at the second terminal (14). Another example relates to a device (100) including an interface (102) and an overvoltage protection circuit (10). The first terminal (12) of the overvoltage protection circuit (10) is electrically coupled to the interface (102).
