[0003] This disclosure relates to an air circulator for a vehicle, and more specifically, to an air circulator for a vehicle capable of selectively or simultaneously performing a direct mode and a diffusion mode, wherein in the direct mode, air is directly blown to an occupant seated in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and in the diffusion mode, air is uniformly diffused and blown throughout the passenger compartment. Background Technology
[0004] Considering the comfort and convenience of the passenger compartment, an air circulator (or blower) can be installed in the vehicle's passenger compartment. The air circulator improves passenger comfort and convenience by circulating air within the passenger compartment by blowing air to the occupants seated there. Air circulators can have various structures for application in various types of vehicles.
[0005] According to existing technology, air circulators include an evaporator core and two blower units built into a housing, and have two or more airflow paths by additionally installing connecting pipes at the exhaust port (air outlet). However, air circulators according to existing technology lack a structure for regulating air direction, and air is blown to a localized area of the passenger compartment, resulting in poor overall air circulation within the passenger compartment. Furthermore, in the case of multi-seat vehicles such as SUVs and MPVs, air is only blown to occupants seated in the rear seats.
[0006] The information described above in this background section is intended to help understand the background of the present invention and may include any technical concepts known to those skilled in the art that are not considered prior art. Summary of the Invention

[0009] The partition can extend in a length direction of the connection duct, and the first flow path and the second flow path can be divided by the partition in a vertical direction of the connection duct. The first flow path can be located above the second flow path, the first flow path can diffuse air into an entire space of a passenger room, and the second flow path can directly blow air to an occupant seated on a seat of the vehicle.
[0010] The connection duct can have a first end portion connected to the outlet of the blower housing and a second end portion opposite the first end portion, and the connection duct can have a plurality of diffusion outlets communicating with the first flow path and a plurality of direct outlets communicating with the second flow path. Each diffusion outlet can horizontally protrude from the connection duct.
[0011] The plurality of diffusion outlets can include a first diffusion outlet disposed in the second end portion of the connection duct and a pair of second diffusion outlets symmetrically disposed in left and right sides of the connection duct. Each direct outlet can obliquely protrude from the connection duct toward a lower space of the passenger room. The plurality of direct outlets can include a first direct outlet disposed in the second end portion of the connection duct and a pair of second direct outlets symmetrically disposed in left and right sides of the connection duct.
[0012] The inlet door can include a shaft flush with the partition and a baffle extending from the shaft. The inlet door can be disposed to face an upstream end of the filter. [0032] Referring to Figure 1 An air circulator 10 for a vehicle according to an example embodiment of the disclosure can include a blower unit 11 including a blower housing 12 and a wheel / motor assembly 13 installed in the blower housing 12, a connection duct 15 connected to an outlet 12b of the blower housing 12, and a filter 17 installed at a side of the outlet 12b of the blower housing 12. Referring to Figure 2 and Figure 3 The blower unit 11 can include the blower housing 12 having a scroll shape or a volute shape and the wheel / motor assembly 13 installed in the blower housing 12.
[0033] The blower housing 12 can have an inlet 12a allowing air to flow in and an outlet 12b allowing air to be discharged. The blower housing 12 can have a curved funnel shape, for example, a scroll shape or a volute shape, with an area gradually increasing toward the outlet 12b. Referring to Figure 3 The blower housing 12 can include an upper housing 21 and a lower housing 22, and the upper housing 21 and the lower housing 22 can be a pair of half cells detachably coupled to each other. Accordingly, the filter 17, an inlet door 51 and a door actuator 52 to be described below can be more easily and quickly assembled into the blower housing 12. The inlet 12a can be formed in the lower housing 22.
[0034] The wheel / motor assembly 13 can be a combined structure of a blower wheel 13a and a blower motor 13b, and the wheel / motor assembly 13 can be disposed to face the inlet 12a of the blower housing 12. Upon operation of the blower motor 13b, the blower wheel 13a can rotate, and thus air (e.g., intake air) inside the passenger compartment can be introduced through the inlet 12a of the blower housing 12 and blown into the connection duct 15.
[0035] Referring to Figure 1According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the air circulator 10 for a vehicle can further include a thermoelectric module 60 mounted to the blower housing 12. The thermoelectric module 60 can be configured to cool or heat air passing through the blower housing 12 to blow cold air or hot air. The thermoelectric module 60 can include an inner chamber 61 located inside the blower housing 12 and an outer chamber 62 located outside the blower housing 12. A plurality of thermoelectric elements (e.g., N-type thermoelectric elements and P-type thermoelectric elements), a plurality of electrodes, etc. can be disposed between the inner chamber 61 and the outer chamber 62. The inner chamber 61 can be an inner chamber insulation panel located inside the blower housing 12, and the outer chamber 62 can be an outer chamber insulation panel located outside the blower housing 12.
[0036] When the polarity of the voltage applied to the plurality of electrodes is changed, the direction of the current can be changed, and thus the inner chamber 61 can be switched between a cold side and a hot side, and the outer chamber 62 can be switched between a hot side and a cold side. For example, when a forward voltage is applied to the electrodes, the inner chamber 61 can be switched to a cold side, and the outer chamber 62 can be switched to a hot side. When the inner chamber 61 is switched to a cold side, air in contact with the inner chamber 61 can be cooled, and thus cold air (cool air) can be blown into the passenger compartment (cooled). When a reverse voltage is applied to the electrodes of the thermoelectric module 60, the inner chamber 61 can be switched to a hot side, and the outer chamber 62 can be switched to a cold side. When the inner chamber 61 is switched to a hot side, air in contact with the inner chamber 61 can be heated, and thus hot air (hot air) can be blown into the passenger compartment (heated).
[0037] The connection duct 15 can be sealingly connected to the outlet 12b of the blower housing 12, and the connection duct 15 can have two or more flow paths 18, 19 divided by at least one partition 16. In addition, the partition 16 can extend in a length direction of the connection duct 15, and thus the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19 can extend in the length direction of the connection duct 15. In addition, the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19 can be divided by the partition 16 in a vertical direction of the connection duct 15. The connection duct 15 can have a first end 15a and a second end 15b. The first end 15a can be sealingly connected to the outlet 12b of the blower housing 12, and the second end 15b can be opposite to the first end 15a.
[0038] Referring to Figure 3The connection duct 15 can include an upper duct 23 and a lower duct 24, and the upper duct 23 and the lower duct 24 can be half-shell type ducts detachably coupled to each other. A partition plate 16 can be coupled between the upper duct 23 and the lower duct 24 to simplify assembly of the connection duct 15. A bottom end of the upper duct 23 can be open, and a top end of the lower duct 24 can be open. Since the partition plate 16 is coupled with the bottom end of the upper duct 23 and the top end of the lower duct 24, the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19 can be partitioned by the partition plate 16 within the connection duct 15.
[0039] Referring to Figure 1 and Figure 3 The first flow path 18 can be defined by an inner surface of the upper duct 23 and the partition plate 16, and the second flow path 19 can be defined by an inner surface of the lower duct 24 and the partition plate 16. For example, the first flow path 18 can induce (allow) air to diffuse to the entire space of the passenger compartment, and the second flow path 19 can induce (allow) air to directly blow to an occupant seated on a (front and rear) seat of the passenger compartment.
[0040] The connection duct 15 can have a plurality of diffusion outlets 31, 32 communicating with the first flow path 18, and the plurality of diffusion outlets 31, 32 can horizontally blow air (e.g., diffusion air) passing through the first flow path 18 toward a ceiling (e.g., a headlining) of the vehicle. Specifically, each diffusion outlet 31, 32 can horizontally protrude from the connection duct 15, and air can be horizontally discharged to the passenger compartment through the diffusion outlet 31, 32, so that the air can be uniformly diffused to the entire passenger compartment.
[0041] According to an exemplary embodiment, the plurality of diffusion outlets 31, 32 can include a first diffusion outlet 31 formed in the second end portion 15b of the connection duct 15 and a pair of second diffusion outlets 32 symmetrically formed on left and right sides of the connection duct 15. The first diffusion outlet 31 can horizontally protrude from the second end portion 15b of the connection duct 15 toward a rear portion of the vehicle by a predetermined length, and the second diffusion outlets 32 can horizontally protrude from left and right sides of the connection duct 15 toward left and right sides of the vehicle by a predetermined length.
[0042] The connection duct 15 can have a plurality of direct outlets 41, 42 communicating with the second flow path 19, and the plurality of direct outlets 41, 42 can blow air (direct air) passing through the second flow path 19 to an occupant seated on a (front and rear) seat of the passenger compartment. Specifically, each of the direct outlets 41, 42 can obliquely protrude from the connection duct 15 toward a lower space of the passenger compartment, and air can be obliquely discharged to the lower space of the passenger compartment through the direct outlets 41, 42, so that the air can be directly blown to the occupant.
[0043] According to an exemplary embodiment, the plurality of direct outlets 41, 42 can include a first direct outlet 41 formed in the second end portion 15b of the connection duct 15 and a pair of second direct outlets 42 symmetrically formed on the left and right sides of the connection duct 15. The first direct outlet 41 can be obliquely projected downward from the second end portion 15b of the connection duct 15 by a predetermined length toward the rear of the vehicle, and the second direct outlets 42 can be obliquely projected from the left and right sides of the connection duct 15 by a predetermined length toward the left and right sides of the vehicle.
[0044] Referring to Figure 4 , the first flow path 18 can be located above the second flow path 19, and thus, the first diffusion outlet 31 can be located directly above the first direct outlet 41, and the second diffusion outlet 32 can be located directly above the second direct outlet 42. The first diffusion outlet 31, the first direct outlet 41, the second diffusion outlet 32, and the second direct outlet 42 can have the shape of an elongated slit having a width of about 3 mm (see Figure 9 ), and air can be discharged through the slit-shaped outlets 31, 32, 41, and 42 in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle to the surroundings up to the rear seats, e.g., the second and third rows of seats, of the vehicle.
[0045] The filter 17 can be disposed adjacent to the outlet of the blower housing 12, and the filter 17 can be a high efficiency particulate air filter or a combination filter to improve the quality of air blown into the passenger compartment. The filter 17 can effectively remove fine dust, etc., to allow pleasant and fresh air (e.g., improved air quality) to circulate within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. In particular, since the filter 17 can be located on the upstream side of the connection duct 15, filtered air can be blown into the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19. The air circulator 10 for a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the present application can include an inlet door 51 pivotably mounted within the blower housing 12, and the inlet door 51 can be pivoted between the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19.
[0046] According to an exemplary embodiment, the inlet door 51 can be pivoted by a door actuator 52. The inlet door 51 can include a shaft 51a and a flap 51b extending from the shaft 51a. The door actuator 52 can be directly or indirectly connected to the shaft 51a to allow the door actuator 52 to rotate the shaft 51a, and the flap 51b of the inlet door 51 can be moved by the rotation of the shaft 51a. The shaft 51a can be aligned with the partition plate 16, and the axis of the shaft 51a can be parallel to the partition plate 16. In particular, the shaft 51a can be flush with the partition plate 16, and as the inlet door 51 is pivoted, the flap 51b can partially open and close the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19.
[0047] A door actuator 52 can be connected to the shaft 51a of the inlet door 51, and the door actuator 52 can be attached to the side surface of the blower housing 12. Specifically, the inlet door 51 can be positioned facing the upstream end of the filter 17, thereby selectively blowing air into the first flow path 18 and / or the second flow path 19. The inlet door 51 can pivot at the upstream end of the filter 17, and air can be blown into the first flow path 18 and / or the second flow path 19 depending on the pivot angle of the inlet door 51. Specifically, the ratio of air blown into the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19 can be adjusted based on the pivot angle of the inlet door 51. According to an alternative exemplary embodiment, a manual linkage mechanism having arms, rods, etc., can be connected to the inlet door 51, so that an occupant can operate the manual linkage mechanism to pivot the inlet door 51.
[0048] According to an exemplary embodiment, the blower housing 12 and the connecting pipe 15 can extend along the length of the vehicle 5, therefore, as Figure 5 As shown, the air circulator 10 for the vehicle can be mounted on the vehicle roof (ceiling) and arranged along the length of the vehicle 5. Specifically, Figure 5 The illustration depicts a sports utility vehicle (SUV) equipped with multiple rows of seats 1, 2, and 3, wherein an air circulator 10 for the vehicle can be located above the first row of seats 1, the second row of seats 2, and the third row of seats 3 in the passenger compartment. For example, the air circulator 10 for the vehicle can be located between the first row of seats 1 and the second row of seats 2. In particular, because the first diffuser outlet 31 and the first direct outlet 41 of the connecting duct 15 are arranged facing the second row of seats 2 and the third row of seats 3, air can be evenly blown to the second row of seats 2 and the third row of seats 3, so that occupants feel a direct airflow, thereby improving the comfort of occupants sitting in the rear seats.
[0049] Figure 6A The diagram illustrates a diffusion pattern in which, during the initial start-up phase of the vehicle and the initial operation phase of the air conditioning (e.g., lasting approximately 1 minute), hot air is prevented from blowing directly onto the occupants, and the air can diffuse along the vehicle roof to ensure uniform circulation throughout the passenger compartment. (See reference...) Figure 6A When the inlet gate 51 pivots to the position where it blocks the second flow path 19, air introduced by the blower unit 11 can be blown into the first flow path 18 (see arrow F). (Refer to...) Figure 7 The air blown into the first flow path 18 can be horizontally discharged to the ceiling of the passenger compartment through diffusion outlets 31 and 32. In other words, as the air is horizontally discharged to the ceiling of the passenger compartment through diffusion outlets 31 and 32, the air can be uniformly diffused throughout the entire space of the passenger compartment (e.g., diffusion mode).
[0050] Figure 6BA direct mode is shown in which air is directly blown according to the greatest cooling / heating, the occupant's preference, etc. Referring to Figure 6B When the inlet door 51 is pivoted to a position in which the inlet door 51 blocks the first flow path 18, the air introduced by the blower unit 11 can be blown into the second flow path 19 (see arrow D). Referring to Figure 8 The air blown into the second flow path 19 can be directly discharged to the occupant inside the passenger compartment through the direct outlets 41, 42. In other words, the air can be directly discharged to the occupant inside the passenger compartment (e.g., direct mode).
[0051] Figure 6C A mixed mode is shown in which the diffusion mode and the direct mode are performed together to improve comfort when it is judged by Full Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) that the room temperature is stable and the vehicle is driven for a long time. Referring to Figure 6C When the inlet door 51 is pivoted to a position in which the inlet door 51 opens the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19, the air introduced by the blower unit 11 can be blown into the first flow path 18 and the second flow path 19 at the same time (see arrows F and D). Referring to Figure 7 and Figure 8 The air blown into the first flow path 18 can be horizontally discharged to the ceiling of the passenger compartment through the diffusion outlets 31, 32, and the air blown into the second flow path 19 can be directly discharged to the occupant inside the passenger compartment through the direct outlets 41, 42 (mixed mode).
[0052] Referring to Figure 9 The air introduced by the blower unit 11 can be discharged through the blower housing 12, the diffusion outlets 31, 32, and the direct outlets 41, 42 of the connection duct 15, so the air can be horizontally diffused (see Figure 7 ) and / or directly blown to the occupant (see Figure 8 ). According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the second diffusion outlet 32 and the second direct outlet 42 can extend in the length direction of the connection duct 15. Thus, as Figure 9 shown, when the air is blown out through the second diffusion outlet 32 and the second direct outlet 42 of the connection duct 15, the air can be discharged through the second diffusion outlet 32 and the second direct outlet 42 at uniform flow rates.
[0053] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the blower housing 12 and the connection duct 15 can extend in the width direction of the vehicle 5, so as Figure 10 shown, the air circulator 10 for the vehicle can be disposed in the width direction of the vehicle 5. Thus, the air can be directly blown to the front and the rear of the vehicle through the first diffusion outlet 31, the first direct outlet 41, the second diffusion outlet 32, and the second direct outlet 42 of the connection duct 15.
[0054] As described above, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the air circulator for a vehicle can be installed on a ceiling of the vehicle, and air can be uniformly blown throughout the entire space from the ceiling of the vehicle to the passenger room of the vehicle through the air circulator.
[0055] In addition, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the air circulator for a vehicle can be implemented by one blower unit 11 without any separate evaporator core and refrigerant mechanism, thereby reducing manufacturing costs and weight. Furthermore, by more easily removing fine dust with the filter 17, the air circulator for a vehicle can effectively perform an air cleaning function on the passenger room. With the pivoting of the inlet door 51, air can be selectively blown into the first flow path 18 and / or the second flow path, and thus, the air circulator can control air circulation in various modes such as a diffusion mode, a direct mode, and a mixed mode.
[0056] In the foregoing, although the present disclosure is described with reference to the exemplary embodiments and the accompanying drawings, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and those skilled in the art to which the present disclosure pertains can make various modifications and changes to the present disclosure without departing from the idea and scope of the present disclosure claimed in the appended claims.
