AI Technical Summary
In a wireless communication system, it is difficult for the first UE to determine the explicit power control parameters associated with the communication between the second UE and the base station, resulting in low power control efficiency.
By receiving an indication of the power control configuration from the second UE, the first UE may adjust power control parameters such as path loss, target received power, and compensation factors to optimize the power transmitted by the side link.
It is realized that the first UE accurately adjusts the power control parameters without directly measuring the path loss between the base station and the second UE, thereby improving the efficiency and quality of side link transmission.

[0003] introduction
[0004] The following relates to wireless communications, and in particular to coordination for power control.
[0005] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems), and fifth generation (5G) systems that may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems. These systems may use various technologies, such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include several base stations or network access nodes, each of which simultaneously supports the communication of multiple communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE).

[0059] Detailed Description
[0060] In some cases, a first UE may transmit a message to a second UE via a side link, where the second UE is within the coverage area of a base station. If the transmit power of the message is above a first threshold level, the message may interfere with an access link between the second UE and the base station and may affect communications along the access link. However, if the transmit power is below a second threshold level, the second UE may not be able to receive and successfully decode the message. By performing power control, the first UE may transmit the message with sufficient transmit power so that the message is received and successfully decoded by the second UE while mitigating interference along the access link.
[0061] Performing power control for the transmission of the opposite link may involve determining the transmit power. The first UE may determine the transmit power based on power control parameters such as downlink path loss between the first UE and the base station, target received power, compensation factor, or a combination thereof. However, in some cases, the first UE may not be able to determine the values of these power control parameters or may determine values that do not explicitly correspond to the access link between the second UE and the base station. For example, in one example, the first UE may be within the coverage area of another base station and may not be able to determine the downlink path loss between the base station and the first UE without excessive overhead or waiting time. In another example, the first UE may be outside the coverage area of any base station and may lack the ability to accurately determine the target received power, compensation factor, or a combination thereof. In yet another example, the first UE may be within each area of the base station, but may communicate with the base station via a first access link associated with a first beam, wherein the first beam is different from a second beam associated with a second access link between the base station and the second UE. Thus, the first UE may measure a downlink path loss value corresponding to the first beam for the first access link, rather than a downlink path loss value corresponding to the second beam for the second access link.
[0062] To enable the first UE to determine a value of a power control parameter that explicitly corresponds to an access link between the second UE and the base station, the second UE may transmit an indication of a power control configuration to the first UE. The power control configuration may include an indication of a downlink path loss between the base station and the second UE, an indication of a target received power, an indication of a compensation factor, or a combination thereof. The first UE may use the indication of the power control configuration to adjust one or more power control parameters (e.g., downlink path loss, target received power, compensation factor) and may transmit a transmission to the second UE based on the adjusted one or more power control parameters.
[0063] Various aspects of the present disclosure are initially described in the context of wireless communication systems. Additional aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of additional wireless communication systems and process flows. Various aspects of the present disclosure are further explained and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams related to sidelink coordination for power control.
[0064] Figure 1An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting sidelink coordination for power control according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 includes a network device 105, a UE 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be an LTE network, an LTE-A network, an LTE-A Pro network, or an NR network. In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low latency communications, or communications with low-cost and low-complexity devices.
[0065] The network device 105 (e.g., a base station) may communicate wirelessly with the UE 115 via one or more network device antennas. The network device 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by those skilled in the art as a base transceiver station, a radio base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a Node B, an evolved Node B (eNB), a next generation Node B, or a Gigabit Node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a Home Node B, a Home Evolved Node B, or some other suitable terminology. The wireless communication system 100 may include different types of network devices 105 (e.g., a macro cell base station or a small cell base station). The UE 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of network devices 105 and network equipment (including macro eNBs, small cell eNBs, gNBs, relay base stations, etc.).
[0066] Each network device 105 may be associated with a particular geographic coverage area 110 in which it supports communications with various UEs 115. Each network device 105 may provide communications coverage for a respective geographic coverage area 110 via a communication link 125, and the communication link 125 between the network device 105 and the UE 115 may utilize one or more carriers. The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include an uplink transmission from the UE 115 to the network device 105, or a downlink transmission from the network device 105 to the UE 115. Downlink transmissions may also be referred to as forward link transmissions, and uplink transmissions may also be referred to as reverse link transmissions.
[0067] The geographic coverage area 110 of the network device 105 may be divided into sectors that constitute a portion of the geographic coverage area 110, and each sector may be associated with a cellular cell. For example, each network device 105 may provide communication coverage for a macrocellular cell, a small cellular cell, a hotspot, or other types of cellular cells, or various combinations thereof. In some examples, the network device 105 may be mobile and therefore provide communication coverage for a mobile geographic coverage area 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, and overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by the same network device 105 or different network devices 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous LTE / LTE-A / LTE-A Pro or NR network, in which different types of network devices 105 provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110.
[0068] The term "cell" refers to a logical communication entity used to communicate with network device 105 (e.g., on a carrier), and may be associated with an identifier to distinguish adjacent cells operating via the same or different carriers (e.g., physical cell identifier (PCID), virtual cell identifier (VCID)). In some examples, a carrier may support multiple cells, and different cells may be configured according to different protocol types that may provide access to different types of devices (e.g., machine type communication (MTC), narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), or others). In some cases, the term "cell" may refer to a portion of a geographic coverage area 110 (e.g., a sector) on which the logical entity operates.
[0069] Each UE 115 can be dispersed throughout the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 can be stationary or mobile. UE 115 can also be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, wherein "device" can also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client. UE 115 can also be a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 can also refer to a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or an MTC device, etc., which can be implemented in various items (such as electrical appliances, vehicles, meters, etc.).
[0070] Some UEs 115, such as MTC or IoT devices, may be low-cost or low-complexity devices and may provide automated communication between machines (e.g., via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication). M2M communication or MTC may refer to data communication technology that allows devices to communicate with each other or with network devices 105 without human intervention. In some examples, M2M communication or MTC may include communication from devices that integrate sensors or meters to measure or capture information and relay the information to a central server or application, which may utilize the information or present the information to a person interacting with the program or application. Some UEs 115 may be designed to collect information or implement automated behavior of machines. Examples of applications for MTC devices include: smart metering, inventory monitoring, water level monitoring, equipment monitoring, health care monitoring, field survival monitoring, weather and geographic event monitoring, queue management and tracking, remote security sensing, physical access control, and transaction-based commercial charging.
[0071] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ a reduced power consumption mode of operation, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports unidirectional communication via transmission or reception but not simultaneous transmission and reception). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be performed with a reduced peak rate. Other power saving techniques for UE 115 include entering a power saving "deep sleep" mode when not engaged in active communications, or operating over a limited bandwidth (e.g., in accordance with narrowband communications). In some cases, UE 115 may be designed to support critical functions (e.g., mission critical functions), and the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to provide ultra-reliable communications for these functions.
[0072] In some cases, UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UE 115 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) or device-to-device (D2D) protocol). One or more of a group of UE 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within a geographic coverage area 110 of a network device 105. Other UE 115 in this group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the network device 105, or otherwise unable to receive transmissions from the network device 105. In some cases, each group of UE 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, where each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some cases, the network device 105 facilitates the scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UE 115 without involving the network device 105.
[0073] Each network device 105 can communicate with the core network 130 and with each other. For example, the network device 105 can interface with the core network 130 via a backhaul link 120 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3 or other interfaces). Each network device 105 can communicate with each other on a backhaul link 134 (e.g., via X2, Xn or other interfaces) directly (e.g., directly between each network device 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130). The UE 115 can communicate with the core network 130 via a communication link 155.
[0074] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC), which may include at least one mobility management entity (MME), at least one serving gateway (S-GW), and at least one packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW). The MME may manage non-access layer (e.g., control plane) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of UE 115 served by network devices 105 associated with the EPC. User IP packets may be delivered through the S-GW, which itself may be connected to the P-GW. The P-GW may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The P-GW may be connected to network operator IP services. Operator IP services may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), or packet switched (PS) streaming services.
[0075] At least some network devices (such as network device 105) may include subcomponents, such as access network entities, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). Each access network entity may communicate with each UE 115 through a number of other access network transport entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission / reception points (TRPs). In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity or network device 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and access network controllers) or merged into a single network device (e.g., network device 105).
[0076] The wireless communication system 100 can operate using one or more frequency bands, in some cases, in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). In some examples, the 300MHz to 3GHz region is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band, because the wavelengths are in the range of from about 1 decimeter to 1 meter long. UHF waves can be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features. However, these waves can penetrate various structures sufficiently for macrocells to provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Compared with transmissions using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portion of the spectrum below 300MHz, transmissions using UHF waves can be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100km).
[0077] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the Super High Frequency (SHF) region using frequency bands from 3 GHz to 30 GHz, also known as centimeter bands. The SHF region includes frequency bands that may be opportunistically used by devices that may be able to tolerate interference from other users, such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band.
[0078] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the extremely high frequency (EHF) division of the spectrum (e.g., from 30 GHz to 300 GHz), which is also referred to as the millimeter band. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support millimeter wave (mmW) communications between the UE 115 and the network device 105, and the EHF antenna of the corresponding device may be even smaller and more closely spaced than the UHF antenna. In some cases, this may facilitate the use of antenna arrays within the UE 115. However, the propagation of EHF transmissions may be subject to even greater atmospheric attenuation and shorter range than SHF or UHF transmissions. The technology disclosed herein may be adopted across transmissions using one or more different frequency divisions, and the use of frequency bands specified across these frequency divisions may differ by country or regulatory agency.
[0079] The electromagnetic spectrum is typically subdivided into various classes, bands, channels, etc. based on frequency / wavelength. In 5G NR, two initial operating bands have been identified as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz–7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz–52.6 GHz). Frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are typically referred to as mid-band frequencies. Although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the “sub-6 GHz” band in various documents and articles. Similar naming issues sometimes arise with respect to FR2, which is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the “millimeter wave” band in various documents and articles, although it is different from the EHF band (30 GHz–300 GHz) identified as the “millimeter wave” band by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
[0080] In view of the above aspects, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that if used in this document, the term sub-"6GHz" and the like can broadly refer to frequencies that can be less than 6GHz, can be within FR1, or can include mid-band frequencies. In addition, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that if used in this document, the term "millimeter wave" and the like can broadly refer to frequencies that can include mid-band frequencies, can be within FR2, or can be within the EHF band.
[0081] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may employ license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band (such as a 5 GHz ISM band). When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, wireless devices (such as network devices 105 and UE 115) may employ a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure to ensure that the frequency channel is clear before transmitting data. In some cases, operations in unlicensed bands may be based on carrier aggregation configuration (e.g., LAA) in coordination with component carriers operating in licensed bands. Operations in unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, peer-to-peer transmissions, or a combination of these. Duplexing in unlicensed spectrum may be based on frequency division duplexing (FDD), time division duplexing (TDD), or a combination of the two.
[0082] In some examples, the network device 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication, or beamforming. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may use a transmission scheme between a transmitting device (e.g., network device 105) and a receiving device (e.g., UE 115), wherein the transmitting device is equipped with multiple antennas and the receiving device is equipped with one or more antennas. MIMO communication may employ multipath signal propagation to increase spectral efficiency by transmitting or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers, which may be referred to as spatial multiplexing. For example, the transmitting device may transmit multiple signals via different antennas or different antenna combinations. Similarly, the receiving device may receive multiple signals via different antennas or different antenna combinations. Each of these multiple signals may be referred to as a separate spatial stream and may carry bits associated with the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams. Different spatial layers may be associated with different antenna ports for channel measurement and reporting. MIMO technology includes single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO), in which multiple spatial layers are transmitted to the same receiving device, and multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO), in which multiple spatial layers are transmitted to multiple devices.
[0083] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a network device 105 or a UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam or a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated via antenna elements of an antenna array so that signals propagating at a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals communicated via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying a particular amplitude and phase shift to the signal carried via each antenna element associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each antenna element may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).
[0084] In one example, the network device 105 may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with the UE 115. For example, some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be transmitted multiple times by the network device 105 in different directions, which may include a signal being transmitted according to different beamforming weight sets associated with different transmission directions. The transmissions in different beam directions may be used (e.g., by the network device 105 or a receiving device, such as the UE 115) to identify the beam direction used by the network device 105 for subsequent transmission and / or reception.
[0085] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular recipient device, may be transmitted by network device 105 in a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a recipient device, such as UE 115). In some examples, a beam direction associated with transmissions along a single beam direction may be determined based at least in part on signals transmitted in different beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more signals transmitted by network device 105 in different directions, and UE 115 may report to network device 105 an indication of the signals received by it with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality. Although these techniques are described with reference to signals transmitted by network device 105 in one or more directions, UE 115 may use similar techniques for transmitting signals multiple times in different directions (e.g., for identifying beam directions for subsequent transmission or reception by UE 115) or for transmitting signals in a single direction (e.g., for transmitting data to a recipient device).
[0086] A receiving device (e.g., UE 115, which may be an example of a mmW receiving device) may try multiple receive beams when receiving various signals (such as synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from network device 105. For example, the receiving device may try multiple receive directions by receiving via different antenna subarrays, processing received signals according to different antenna subarrays, receiving according to different receive beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, or processing received signals according to different receive beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receive beams or receive directions. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receive beam to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). The single receive beam may be aligned on a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receive beam directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, the highest signal-to-noise ratio, or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0087] In some cases, the antennas of network device 105 or UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays that may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more network device antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some cases, antennas or antenna arrays associated with network device 105 may be located at different geographic locations. Network device 105 may have an antenna array with several rows and columns of antenna ports that network device 105 may use to support beamforming for communications with UE 115. Likewise, UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations.
[0088] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 can be a packet-based network operated according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, the communication of the bearer or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer can be based on IP. The radio link control (RLC) layer can perform packet segmentation and reorganization to communicate on the logical channel. The media access control (MAC) layer can perform priority handling and multiplex the logical channel into the transport channel. The MAC layer can also use a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) to provide retransmission of the MAC layer, thereby improving link efficiency. In the control plane, the radio resource control (RRC) protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration and maintenance of the RRC connection of the radio bearer supporting user plane data between UE115 and the network device 105 or the core network 130. At the physical layer, the transport channel can be mapped to the physical channel.
[0089] In some cases, UE 115 and network device 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood that the data is successfully received. HARQ feedback is a technique that increases the likelihood of correctly receiving data on communication link 125. HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ can improve the throughput of the MAC layer in poor radio conditions (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio conditions). In some cases, a wireless device may support simultaneous slot HARQ feedback, where the device may provide HARQ feedback in a specific time slot for data received in a previous symbol in the time slot. In other cases, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent time slot or according to some other time interval.
[0090] The time interval in LTE or NR can be represented by a basic time unit (which may refer to a sampling period T, for example). s =1 / 30,720,000 seconds). The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames each having a duration of 10 milliseconds (ms), where the frame period may be expressed as T f =307,200T s . A radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) ranging from 0 to 1023. Each frame may include 10 subframes numbered from 0 to 9, and each subframe may have a duration of 1 ms. A subframe may be further divided into 2 slots, each slot having a duration of 0.5 ms, and each slot may contain 6 or 7 modulation symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix prepended to each symbol period). Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain 2048 sampling periods. In some cases, a subframe may be the minimum scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In other cases, the minimum scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be shorter than a subframe or may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI) or in a selected component carrier using sTTI).
[0091] In some wireless communication systems, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of mini-slots containing one or more symbols. In some instances, a symbol of a mini-slot or a mini-slot may be a minimum scheduling unit. For example, each symbol may vary in duration depending on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band. In addition, some wireless communication systems may implement time slot aggregation, wherein a plurality of time slots or mini-slots are aggregated together and used for communication between UE 115 and network device 105.
[0092] The term "carrier" refers to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting communications on the communication link 125. For example, a carrier of the communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band that operates according to a physical layer channel for a given radio access technology. Each physical layer channel may carry user data, control information, or other signaling. A carrier may be associated with a predefined frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be located according to a channel grid for discovery by a UE 115. A carrier may be a downlink or an uplink (e.g., in an FDD mode), or may be configured to carry downlink communications and uplink communications (e.g., in a TDD mode). In some examples, a signal waveform transmitted on a carrier may include multiple subcarriers (e.g., using a multi-carrier modulation (MCM) technique such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or DFT-S-OFDM).
[0093] For different radio access technologies (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR), the organizational structure of the carrier can be different. For example, the communication on the carrier can be organized according to TTIs or time slots, each of which can include user data and control information or signaling to support decoding of the user data. The carrier can also include dedicated acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals or system information, etc.) and control signaling to coordinate the operation of the carrier. In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), the carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling to coordinate the operation of other carriers.
[0094] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier, for example, using a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. In some examples, control information transmitted in a physical control channel may be distributed in a cascaded manner between different control regions (e.g., between a common control region or a common search space and one or more UE-specific control regions or UE-specific search spaces).
[0095] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of the radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of several predetermined bandwidths of a carrier for a particular radio access technology (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 MHz). In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate on part or all of the carrier bandwidth. In other examples, some UEs 115 may be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type associated with a predefined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or RBs) within a carrier (e.g., an "in-band" deployment of a narrowband protocol type).
[0096] In a system using MCM technology, a resource element may include a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, where the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme). Thus, the more resource elements received by UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate of UE 115 can be. In a MIMO system, wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and space resources (e.g., space layers), and the use of multiple space layers may further increase the data rate of communication with UE 115.
[0097] A device of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., a network device 105 or a UE 115) may have a hardware configuration that supports communication on a particular carrier bandwidth, or may be configurable to support communication on one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a network device 105 and / or a UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via carriers associated with more than one different carrier bandwidths.
[0098] The wireless communication system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 on multiple cells or carriers, a feature that may be referred to as carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. The UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers according to a carrier aggregation configuration. Carrier aggregation may be used with both FDD and TDD component carriers.
[0099] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may utilize an enhanced component carrier (eCC). An eCC may be characterized by one or more features including a wider carrier or frequency channel bandwidth, a shorter symbol duration, a shorter TTI duration, or a modified control channel configuration. In some cases, an eCC may be associated with a carrier aggregation configuration or a dual connectivity configuration (e.g., when multiple serving cells have suboptimal or non-ideal backhaul links). An eCC may also be configured for use in an unlicensed spectrum or a shared spectrum (e.g., where more than one operator is allowed to use the spectrum). An eCC characterized by a wide carrier bandwidth may include one or more segments that may be utilized by a UE 115 that is not capable of monitoring the entire carrier bandwidth or is otherwise configured to use a limited carrier bandwidth (e.g., to save power).
[0100] In some cases, an eCC may utilize a different symbol duration than other component carriers, which may include using a reduced symbol duration compared to the symbol duration of other component carriers. A shorter symbol duration may be associated with an increased spacing between adjacent subcarriers. A device utilizing an eCC (such as a UE 115 or a network device 105) may transmit a wideband signal (e.g., based on a frequency channel or carrier bandwidth of 20, 40, 60, 80 MHz, etc.) with a reduced symbol duration (e.g., 16.67 microseconds). A TTI in an eCC may include one or more symbol periods. In some cases, the TTI duration (i.e., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable.
[0101] The wireless communication system 100 may be an NR system that may utilize any combination of licensed, shared, and unlicensed spectrum bands, etc. The flexibility of eCC symbol duration and subcarrier spacing may allow eCC to be used across multiple spectrums. In some examples, NR shared spectrum may improve spectrum utilization and spectrum efficiency, particularly through dynamic vertical (e.g., across frequency domain) and horizontal (e.g., across time domain) sharing of resources.
[0102] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, and the like. These systems may be multiple access systems capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). A wireless network (e.g., a wireless local area network (WLAN), such as a Wi-Fi (i.e., an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11) network) may include an access point (AP) that can communicate with one or more wireless or mobile devices. An AP may be coupled to a network (such as the Internet) and may enable a mobile device to communicate via the network (or to communicate with other devices coupled to the access point). A wireless device may communicate bidirectionally with a network device. For example, in a WLAN, a device may communicate with an associated AP via a downlink (e.g., a communication link from an AP to a device) and an uplink (e.g., a communication link from a device to an AP). A wireless personal area network (PAN), which may include a Bluetooth connection, may provide a short-range wireless connection between two or more paired wireless devices. For example, a wireless device (such as a cellular telephone) may utilize wireless PAN communications to exchange information, such as audio signals, with a wireless head mounted device.
[0103] In some cases, the first UE 115 may perform sidelink open-loop power control when preparing to transmit a message to the second UE 115. In some examples, the first UE 115 may be configured to use downlink path loss (e.g., between the first UE 115 and the network device 105 within its coverage area 110), sidelink path loss (e.g., between the first UE 115 and the second UE 115), or both. When the UE 115 is configured to use both, the minimum value of the power value given by the open-loop power control may be based on the downlink path loss, and open-loop power control based on the sidelink path loss may be adopted. In this case, the target received power P0 and the compensation factor α may be configured (e.g., pre-configured) separately for the downlink path loss and the uplink path loss.
[0104] In some examples, the techniques described herein may involve nearby UEs 115 sharing information (e.g., an indication of a power control configuration) to help determine power control of a link on the opposite side. UEs 115 may share power control parameters, such as path loss measurements (e.g., from their own cellular cells). UEs 115 may use the shared path loss measurements to determine transmit power. In some cases, UEs 115 may also use their own measurements of path loss (e.g., between the UEs themselves and the network devices 105 within their coverage area 110) to determine transmit power. Additionally or alternatively, UEs 115 may share other power control parameters, such as target received power P0 and compensation factor α.
[0105] In some cases, the confidentiality level of the shared information may be determined by a path loss, a distance, an RSRP, or a combination thereof associated with the communication between the first UE 115 and the second UE 115. The UE 115 receiving the shared information may use the shared information if the path loss is below a threshold, if the distance is below a threshold, or if the RSRP is above a threshold, or may ignore the shared information otherwise. In some cases, the information may be shared based on a request from another UE 115 or a network device 105 (e.g., a network device 105 within whose coverage area 110 the UE 115 receiving the request resides).
[0106] In some examples, to perform power control, UE 115 may use the target received power P0 and / or the compensation factor α. For example, UE 115 may calculate the sidelink transmit power as Where P TX is the side link transmit power and is the side link path loss raised to the power of -α. If the UE 115 has received an indication of the downlink path loss, the UE 115 may use the indicated downlink path loss to calculate P0 and / or α. Alternatively, if the UE 115 has received an indication of the P0 and / or α value, the UE 115 may use the indicated P0 and / or α value.
[0107] In some cases, UE 115 may communicate with base station 105 via access link 127. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115 may communicate with another UE 115 via side link 128. In some examples, base station 105 may communicate with a first UE 115 via a first beam and may communicate with a second UE 115 via a second beam. When the first UE 115 communicates with the second UE 115 (e.g., via access link 128), the first UE 115 may perform power control according to the methods described herein to mitigate interference to base station 105.
[0108] In some cases, one or more UEs 115 may include a communication manager 101. In some cases, the communication manager 101 may determine a power control configuration corresponding to communications between a first UE 115 and a network device 105, wherein the first UE 115 is in a coverage area 110 of the network device 105. The communication manager 101 may also transmit an indication of the power control configuration to a second UE 115. Alternatively, the communication manager 101 may receive from the second UE an indication of a power control configuration corresponding to communications between the second UE 115 and the network device 105. The communication manager 101 may adjust one or more power control parameters based on the indication of the power control configuration and transmit a message to the second UE 115 based on adjusting the one or more power control parameters.
[0109] In some cases, one or more network devices 105 may include a communication manager 102. The communication manager 102 may transmit a command to a first UE 115 to transmit an indication of a power control configuration corresponding to communications between the first UE 115 and the network device 105 from the first UE 115 to the second UE 115, wherein the first UE 115 may be within a coverage area of the network device 105, and wherein the second UE 115 may use the power control configuration to adjust one or more power control parameters.
[0110] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 that supports sidelink coordination for power control according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the wireless communication system 200 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the wireless communication system 200 may include network devices 105-a and 105-b and UEs 115-a, 115-b, 115-c, 115-d, 115-e, and 115-f, and the network devices 105-a and 105-b may be as described with reference to Figure 1 The examples of network devices 105 discussed above and UEs 115-a, 115-b, 115-c, 115-d, 115-e, and 115-f may be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is discussed.
[0111] UEs 115-a, 115-c, and 115-e may be within the coverage area of network device 105-a, and UEs 115-b, 115-d, and 115-f may be within the coverage area of network device 105-b. In some examples, network device 105-a may use beam 205-a to receive transmissions from UE 115-a (e.g., via access link 210-a), and network device 105-b may use beam 205-b to receive transmissions from UE 115-b (e.g., via access link 210-b). Additionally, UE 115-a may communicate with UE 115-b via side link 215-a, UE 115-c may communicate with UE 115-a via side link 215-b, and UE 115-d may communicate with UE 115-b via side link 215-c. Similarly, UE 115-e may communicate with UE 115-a via side link 215-d, and UE 115-f may communicate with UE 115-b via side link 215-e. UEs 115-a and 115-b may be cell-edge UEs 115 (e.g., UEs 115 that are within a threshold distance from the edge of coverage area 110) and may perform techniques as described herein as a result of being cell-edge UEs 115. In some examples, some or each of UEs 115 may be replaced by an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.
[0112] When UE 115-b transmits a message to UE 115-a (e.g., via side link 215-a), UE 115-b may perform power control to attempt to make the transmit power low enough to limit interference at network device 105-a, while being high enough for UE 115-a to successfully receive and decode the message. In order to limit interference, UE 115-b may use the path loss between network device 105-a and UE 115-b. However, UE 115-b may be in a different coverage area 110 than network device 105-a. As a result, UE 115-b may not be able to measure the path loss between network device 105-a and UE 115-b. One solution may involve network device 105-b and network device 105-a performing coordination so that UE 115-b can determine the path loss. However, such techniques may involve excessive overhead or latency compared to the techniques described herein.
[0113] An alternative solution may involve UE 115-a measuring a path loss between UE 115-a and network device 105-a and providing (e.g., via side link 215-a) an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-b, including an indication of the measured path loss. UE 115-b may use the indicated path loss even if the indicated path loss is the path loss between UE 115-b and network device 105-a. For example, UE 115-b may adjust a power control parameter associated with the downlink path loss so that the parameter value is equal to the indicated downlink path loss. Alternatively, when adjusting the power control parameter, the adjusted power control parameter value may be different from the indicated path loss to compensate for UE 115-b being at a different location than UE 115-a. In either case, UE 115-b may use the adjusted power control parameter to determine a transmit power for transmitting a message to UE 115-a and may transmit the message to UE 115-a (e.g., via side link 215-a). For example, UE 115-b may determine the transmit power using the indicated path loss plus its own measurement of the downlink path loss.
[0114] In some cases, UE 115-b may use adjusted power control parameters if one or more sidelink proximity parameters associated with communications between UE 115-a and UE 115-b meet one or more corresponding thresholds. The one or more sidelink proximity parameters may include a sidelink path loss between UE 115-a and 115-b; a distance between UE 115-a and 115-b; RSRP at UE 115-b; or a combination thereof. In one example, UE 115-b may determine to use the adjusted power control parameters if the sidelink path loss is below a threshold, and otherwise may ignore the indicated downlink path loss. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b may determine to use the power control parameters if the distance between UE 115-a and UE 115-b is below a threshold, and otherwise may ignore the indicated downlink path loss. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b may determine to use power control parameters if the RSRP at UE 115-b is above a threshold and may otherwise ignore the indicated downlink path loss.
[0115] In some cases, UE 115-a may transmit an indication of the power control configuration to UE 115 within coverage area 110-a (e.g., to UE 115-c via side link 215-b). Additionally or alternatively, UE 115 may coordinate within a group (e.g., a group including UE 115-b, UE 115-d, and UE 115-f) to share information. For example, UE 115-b may relay an indication of the power control configuration to another UE 115 in coverage area 110-b (to UE 115-d via side link 215-c and / or to UE 115-f via side link 215-e).
[0116] In some cases, network device 105-a may transmit a command to UE 115-a (e.g., via access link 210-a) that triggers UE 115-a to provide an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-b. Alternatively, UE 115-b may transmit a request to UE 115-a (e.g., via side link 215-a) and UE 115-a may transmit an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-b upon receiving the request (e.g., via side link 215-a).
[0117] Figure 3 An example of a wireless communication system 300 that supports sidelink coordination for power control according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the wireless communication system 300 may implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the wireless communication system 300 may include a network device 105-c and UEs 115-g, 115-h, 115-I, and 115-j, and the network device 105-c may be as described with reference to Figure 1 The examples of network devices 105 discussed above and UEs 115-g, 115-h, 115-I and 115-j may be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is discussed.
[0118] UE 115-g and UE 115-h may be in coverage area 110-c of network device 105-c. In some examples, network device 105-c may use beam 205-c to receive transmissions from UE 115-g (e.g., via access link 210-c) and may use beam 205-d to receive transmissions from UE 115-h (e.g., via access link 210-d). Additionally, UE 115-g may communicate with UE 115-h via side link 215-f, may communicate with UE 115-i via side link 215-g, and may communicate with UE 115-j via side link 215-h. In some examples, some or each of UE 115 may be replaced by an IAB node without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.
[0119] When UE 115-g transmits a message to UE 115-h (e.g., via side link 215-f), UE 115-g may perform power control to attempt to make the transmit power low enough to limit interference at network device 105-c, while being high enough for UE 115-a to successfully receive and decode the message. In order to limit interference, UE 115-g may consider the path loss between network device 105-c and UE 115-g. However, UE 115-g may be communicating via beam 205-c and may measure the path loss of transmissions received and transmitted along beam 205-c. However, when UE 115-g transmits a message to UE 115-h, beam 205-d may be more affected by interference than beam 205-c. In some examples, the path loss condition via beam 205-c may be different from the path loss condition via beam 205-d.
[0120] One solution may involve UE 115-h measuring the path loss between UE 115-h and network device 105-c and providing (e.g., via side link 215-f) an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-g, including an indication of the measured path loss. Even if the indicated path loss is the path loss between UE 115-g and network device 105-c, UE 115-g may use the indicated path loss. For example, UE 115-g may adjust a power control parameter associated with the downlink path loss so that the parameter value is equal to the indicated downlink path loss. Alternatively, when adjusting the power control parameter, the adjusted power control parameter may be different from the indicated path loss to compensate for UE 115-g being at a different location from UE 115-h and a modified path loss may be used. In either case, UE 115-g may use the adjusted power control parameter to determine a transmit power for transmitting a message to UE 115-h. For example, UE 115-g may use the indicated path loss plus its own measurement of the downlink path loss to determine the transmit power.
[0121] In some cases, UE 115-g may use adjusted power control parameters if one or more sidelink proximity parameters associated with communications between UE 115-g and UE 115-h meet one or more corresponding thresholds. The one or more sidelink proximity parameters may include a sidelink path loss between UE 115-g and 115-h; a distance between UE 115-g and 115-h; RSRP at UE 115-g; or a combination thereof. In one example, UE 115-b may determine to use adjusted power control parameters if the sidelink path loss is below a threshold, otherwise ignoring the indicated downlink path loss. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-g may determine to use adjusted power control parameters if the distance between UE 115-g and UE 115-h is below a threshold, otherwise ignoring the indicated downlink path loss. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-g may determine to use adjusted power control parameters if the RSRP associated with UE 115-h at UE 115-g is above a threshold, and may otherwise ignore the indicated downlink path loss.
[0122] In some cases, UE 115-h may transmit an indication of the power control configuration to another UE 115 within coverage area 110-c (e.g., via side link 215). Additionally or alternatively, UEs 115 may coordinate within a group (e.g., a group including UE 115-g, UE 115-i, and UE 115-j) to share information. For example, UE 115-g may relay an indication of the power control configuration to another UE 115 in coverage area 110-c (via side link 215-g to UE 115-i and / or via side link 215-h to UE 115-j).
[0123] In some cases, network device 105-c may transmit a command to UE 115-h (e.g., via access link 210-d) that triggers UE 115-h to provide an indication of the power control configuration to UE 115-g. Alternatively, UE 115-g may transmit a request to UE 115-h (e.g., via side link 215-f) and UE 115-h may transmit an indication of the power control configuration to UE 115-g upon receiving the request (e.g., via side link 215-f).
[0124] Figure 4An example of a wireless communication system 400 that supports sidelink coordination for power control according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the wireless communication system 400 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the wireless communication system 400 can include a network device 105-d and UEs 115-k, 115-l, 115-m, and 115-n, and the network device 105-d can be as described with reference to Figure 1 The examples of network devices 105 discussed above and UEs 115-k, 115-l, 115-m, and 115-n may be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is discussed.
[0125] UE 115-k may be in the coverage area of network device 105-d (i.e., an in-coverage UE 115) and UE 115-l may be outside the coverage area of any network device 105 (i.e., an out-of-coverage (OOC) UE 115). In some examples, network device 105-d may use beam 205-e to receive transmissions from UE 115-k (e.g., via access link 210-e). Additionally, UE 115-l may communicate with UE 115-k via side link 215-i, may communicate with UE 115-m via side link 215-j, and may communicate with UE 115-n via side link 215-k. In some examples, some or each of the UEs 115 may be replaced by an IAB node without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.
[0126] UE 115-1, which is an OOC UE 115, may be too far away from network device 105-d to maintain direct communication with network device 105-d. However, if UE 115-1 transmits a message to UE 115-h, UE 115-k may relay the message to network device 105-d. When UE 115-1 transmits a message to UE 115-h, UE 115-1 may perform power control to attempt to make the transmit power low enough to limit interference at network device 105-d, while being high enough for UE 115-k to successfully receive and decode the message.
[0127] In some examples, to perform power control, UE 115-1 may use the target received power P0 and / or the compensation factor α. For example, UE 115-1 may calculate the sidelink transmit power as Where P TX is the side link transmit power and is the side link path loss raised to the power of -α. A typical method of obtaining the values of P0 and α may involve communicating with the network device 105 (e.g., via the access link 210). For example, the UE 115-1 may determine P0 and α based on the downlink path loss (e.g., between the UE 115-1 and the network device 105-d) or interference considerations. However, since the UE 115-1 is an OOC UE 115, the UE 115-1 may not be able to perform these methods.
[0128] One solution may involve UE 115-1 retrieving these parameters from UE 115-k via a power control configuration transmitted from UE 115-k (e.g., via side link 215-i). In one example, UE 115-k may transmit an indication of the power control configuration (e.g., via side link 215-i), which includes an indication of P0 and α values. UE 115-1 may adjust previously determined P0 and α to align with the indicated P0 and α values. UE 115-1 may determine the transmit power and may transmit the message to UE 115-k based on the determined transmit power (e.g., via side link 215-i). For example, UE 115-1 may determine the transmit power using the indicated path loss plus its own measurement of the downlink path loss. It should be noted that in some cases, UE 115-l may alternatively receive an indication of a downlink path loss (e.g., between UE 115-k and network device 105-d) and may calculate P0 and α based on the indicated downlink path loss.
[0129] In some cases, UE 115-1 may use the indicated P0 and / or α values if one or more sidelink proximity parameters associated with communication between UE 115-k and UE 115-1 meet one or more corresponding thresholds. The one or more sidelink proximity parameters may include a sidelink path loss between UE 115-k and 115-i; a distance between UE 115-1 and 115-h; RSRP at UE 115-1; or a combination thereof. In one example, UE 115-1 may determine to use the indicated P0 and / or α values if the sidelink path loss is below a threshold, otherwise the indicated downlink path loss may be ignored. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-1 may determine to use the indicated P0 and / or α values if the distance between UE 115-1 and UE 115-k is below a threshold, otherwise the indicated downlink path loss may be ignored. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-1 may determine to use the indicated P0 and / or α values if the RSRP associated with UE 115-k at UE 115-1 is above a threshold, and may otherwise ignore the indicated downlink path loss.
[0130] In some cases, UE 115 may coordinate in a group (e.g., a group including UE 115-1, UE 115-m, and UE 115-n) to share information. For example, UE 115-1 may relay a power control configuration to another OOC UE 115 (e.g., to UE 115-m via side link 215-j and / or to UE 115-n via side link 215-k). In some cases, network device 105-d may transmit a command to UE 115-k (e.g., via access link 215-i) that triggers UE 115-k to provide power control parameters to UE 115-1. In order to enable network device 105-d to transmit the command, network device 105-d may identify the group of UE 115 (e.g., UE 115-1, UE 115-m, and UE 115-n) and may determine that UE 115-1 is OOC. In some such examples, network device 105-d may receive a message from UE 115-k identifying the group of UE 115 and may determine that UE 115-1 is OOC based on the received message. Alternatively, UE 115-1 may transmit a request to UE 115-k (e.g., via side link 215-i) and UE 115-k may transmit a power control parameter to UE 115-1 upon receiving the request (e.g., via side link 215-i).
[0131] Figure 5 An example of a process flow 500 for supporting sidelink coordination for power control in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the process flow 500 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the process flow 500 can be implemented by UEs 115-o and 115-p and can also be implemented by the network device 105-e, and the UEs 115-o and 115-p can be as described with reference to Figure 1 The example of UE 115 described above and the network device 105-e may be as shown in FIG. Figure 1 An example of a network device 105 is depicted. UE 115-p may be within the coverage area 110 of network device 105-e, and UE 115-o may be within or outside the coverage area 110 of network device 105-e.
[0132] At 505-a, UE 115-o may transmit a request for an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-p. Alternatively, at 505-b, network device 105-e may transmit a command to UE 115-p for transmitting an indication of a power control configuration to UE 115-o. Alternatively, UE 115-p may continue to 510 without receiving a request from UE 115-o or a command from network device 105-e.
[0133] At 510, UE 115-p may determine the power control configuration. The power control configuration may correspond to communications (e.g., access links) between UE 115-p and network device 105-e. At 510-a, UE 115-p may determine a path loss (e.g., downlink path loss) associated with communications between UE 115-p and network device 105-e and may include an indication of the path loss in the power control configuration. Additionally or alternatively, at 510-b, UE 115-p may determine or identify a target received power P0, a compensation factor α, or both, and may include an indication of the target received power P0, an indication of the compensation factor α, or both in the power control configuration.
[0134] UE 115-p may transmit an indication of the power control configuration to UE 115-o at 515. UE 115-o may receive the indication of the power control configuration.
[0135] At 520, UE 115-o may determine that one or more sidelink proximity parameters associated with communication between UE 115-o and UE 115-p satisfy one or more corresponding thresholds. For example, if the one or more sidelink proximity parameters include a sidelink path loss between UE 115-o and UE 115-p, UE 115-o may determine whether the path loss is below a threshold sidelink path loss. Additionally or alternatively, if the one or more sidelink proximity parameters include a distance between UE 115-o and UE 115-p, UE 115-o may determine whether the distance is below a threshold distance. Additionally or alternatively, if the one or more sidelink proximity parameters include an RSRP at UE 115-o, UE 115-o may determine whether the RSRP is above an RSRP threshold. If the one or more thresholds are satisfied, UE 115-o may proceed to 525. If not, UE 115-o may proceed to 530. Without performing 520, UE 115-o may proceed to 525 regardless of whether the sidelink proximity parameter satisfies the corresponding threshold.
[0136] At 525, UE 115-o may adjust one or more power control parameters of UE 115-o based on the indication of the power control configuration.
[0137] At 530, UE 115-o may determine a transmit power based on the adjusted one or more power control parameters. In some cases, UE 115-o may determine the transmit power based on a path loss (e.g., a sidelink path loss) associated with communications between UE 115-o and UE 115-p. In some cases, the transmit power may be linearly proportional to the indicated target received power and may be exponentially proportional to the indicated backoff factor.
[0138] At 535, UE 115-o may transmit a message to UE 115-p based on adjusting the one or more power control parameters. UE 115-p may receive the message.
[0139] At 540, UE 115-p may relay the message to network device 105-e. In some cases, UE 115-p may relay the message if UE 115-o is an OOC UE 115, such as with reference to Figure 4 Described.
