Spatial light modulator control

By simultaneously setting all pixels of the SLM using a global reset signal, the problem of pixel subarray boundary damage in the SLM is solved, improving the reliability of the SLM and reducing system cost, while achieving efficient bit depth and brightness performance.

Abstract

Spatial light modulator control is disclosed. A control circuit (202) includes a sequencing circuit (208). The sequencing circuit (208) is configured to, in a color cycle: pass a first bit plane to a spatial light modulator (SLM) (204), and transmit a first global reset signal (216) to the SLM (204), the signal instructing the SLM (204) to load data of the first bit plane to a subarray of pixels of the SLM (204). The sequencing circuit (208) is further configured to, in the color cycle: pass a second bit plane to the SLM (204), and transmit a second global reset signal (216), the signal instructing the SLM (204) to load data of the second bit plane to a first subarray of the subarray of pixels, and load data of the first bit plane to a second subarray of the subarray of pixels.
