Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to an optical-mechanical structure, and more particularly to a smoke detector capable of reducing false operation of the smoke detector caused by environmental changes by reducing the detection reference light intensity of the optical sensor, and a miniaturized optical-mechanical structure. Background Art

[0002] It is known that the circuit characteristics of photoelectric components may change with environmental changes. For example, when a smoke detector is deployed outdoors, it is easy to cause a false alarm (or false operation) due to environmental changes.

[0003] For example, refer to Figure 1 , which shows a schematic diagram of the optical smoke detector's light sensor's malfunction caused by changes in temperature as the detection brightness changes. Generally speaking, an optical smoke detector is set to sound an alarm when the detection brightness exceeds a warning level. For example, when smoke enters the detection space of the smoke detector, the detection brightness (displayed as a smoke outline) will exceed the warning level.

[0004] When the ambient temperature remains constant, for example, 25°C, the detection brightness of the light sensor remains roughly constant when no smoke enters the detection space. However, when the ambient temperature gradually decreases, for example, to 15°C, the luminous intensity of the light source will change accordingly, so that even if no smoke enters the detection space, the detection brightness of the light sensor still exceeds the warning level, resulting in a false alarm.

[0005] In view of this, the present invention provides an optical-mechanical structure of a smoke detector which can reduce false alarm rate and has a small volume. Summary of the invention

[0006] The present invention provides an optical-mechanical structure of a smoke detector capable of reducing the detection reference light intensity of an optical sensor, so as to reduce the false alarm rate of the smoke detector as the environment changes and improve the detection sensitivity.

[0007] The present invention also provides a miniaturized optomechanical structure to realize a small-sized smoke detector.

[0008] The present invention provides an optomechanical structure of a smoke detector comprising a substrate, a light sensor, a first light source and a light shielding member. The light sensor is disposed on the substrate. The first light source is disposed on the substrate and has a first light emitting angle. The light shielding member has a first opening located above the first light source, and the first opening exposes a portion of the first light source at the first light emitting angle close to the light sensor.

[0009] The present invention also provides an optomechanical structure of a smoke detector comprising a substrate, a light sensor, a first light source, a transparent colloid, and a first light shielding layer. The light sensor is disposed on the substrate. The light source is disposed on the substrate and has a light emitting angle. The transparent colloid covers the light sensor and the light source, and has a first inclined surface extending from a first side surface of the transparent colloid close to the light source to above the light source. The first light shielding layer is formed on the first side surface and the first inclined surface of the transparent colloid to shield a portion of the light emitting angle of the light source away from the light sensor.

[0010] The present invention also provides an optomechanical structure of a smoke detector comprising a substrate, a light sensor, a transparent colloid, and a light shielding layer. The light sensor is disposed on the substrate. The transparent colloid covers the light sensor and has an inclined surface extending from the side of the transparent colloid to the top of the light sensor. The light shielding layer is formed on the side and the inclined surface of the transparent colloid to shield a portion of the area above the light sensor.

[0035] The present invention aims to provide a fog detector which can improve the detection sensitivity and reduce the false alarm rate by reducing the reference light intensity to increase the light intensity change ratio caused by smoke entering the smoke detector. The present invention also aims to provide a miniaturized optomechanical structure and its manufacturing method.

[0036] Please refer to Figure 2A and Figure 2B , which is a schematic diagram of light transmission within a smoke detector 200 according to certain embodiments of the present invention. Figure 2A The smoke detector 200 includes an optomechanical structure 21 and a cover 23 , wherein the cover 23 may have an appropriate structure without any particular limitation, as long as it can block ambient light from entering and allow air to enter its internal space.

[0037] The light source 211 of the optical-mechanical structure 21 illuminates the inner surface of the housing 23 and the suspended particles (e.g., smoke) inside. It is assumed that the reflected light intensity at each location on the inner surface is 10S (detected by the optical sensor 213) and the suspended particles at different locations have different reflected light intensities, such as 0S, 1S, 3S, 7S, and 8S, but not limited thereto. At this time, the ratio of the total reflected light intensity 19S of the suspended particles to the total reflected light intensity (i.e., reference light intensity) 50S of the inner surface is 0.38. Figure 2B The smoke detector 200 is shown to be provided with a light shielding member 22, which shields part of the light emitting angle of the light source 21 so that only part of the light emitting angle can generate reflected light. At this time, the ratio of the total reflected light intensity 15S of the suspended particles to the total reflected light intensity 20S of the inner surface is 0.75. That is, by configuring the light shielding member 22, the ratio of the smoke reflected light to the reference light intensity can be greatly increased, thereby improving the detection sensitivity of the smoke detector.

[0038] Please refer to Figure 3 and Figure 4A As shown, Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of the optical-mechanical structure 300 of the smoke detector according to the first embodiment of the present invention; Figure 4A FIG. 3 is a top view of the optical-mechanical structure 300 of the smoke detector according to the first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2A and Figure 2B As shown, the optomechanical structure 300 is disposed in the housing of the smoke detector for detecting a reference light intensity at normal times and detecting an increase in light intensity when smoke is present.

[0039] The optomechanical structure 300 includes a substrate 310, a first light source 311, a light sensor 313, and a shading member 32. In one embodiment, the optomechanical structure 300 further includes a side wall 315 disposed on the substrate 310 and surrounding the light sensor 313 and the first light source 311. The shading member 32 is preferably attached to the top surface of the side wall 315 so that the first light source 311 and the light sensor 313 are located in the internal space formed by the substrate 310, the side wall 315, and the shading member 32. Preferably, the internal space where the light source 311 is located and the internal space where the light sensor 313 is located are isolated from each other by the side wall 315, so as to prevent the emitted light of the light source 311 from being directly (i.e., without reflection) received by the light sensor 313.

[0040] The substrate 31 may be a printed circuit board or a flexible substrate, and there is no particular limitation, as long as it can electrically connect the first light source 311 and the light sensor 313 and transmit their electrical signals and required power.

[0041] The optical sensor 313 is, for example, a CMOS image sensor or a single photon collapse diode (SPAD). The optical sensor 313 is disposed on the substrate 310, for example, by wire bonding, but not limited to. In other embodiments, other known methods can also be used to electrically connect and fix the optical sensor 313 to the substrate 310.

[0042] The first light source 311 is, for example, a light emitting diode or a laser diode, and has a first light emitting angle EA. Figure 5 The first light source 311 is disposed on the substrate 310 , for example, by wire bonding, but not limited to. In other embodiments, other known methods may be used to electrically connect and fix the first light source 311 to the substrate 310 . Figure 4A In the figure, the first light source 311 and the light sensor 313 are shown to be arranged on the substrate 310 in a first direction (eg, left-right direction).

[0043] It should be noted that the first light source 311 and the light sensor 313 are not limited to be arranged parallel to the upper and lower edges of the substrate 310 .

[0044] The shading member 32 is made of, for example, plastic, rubber, wood, metal or other opaque materials or a combination thereof, and there is no specific limitation. The shading member 32 has a first opening 321 located above the first light source 311, and the shading member 32 shields a portion of the first light emitting angle EA of the first light source 311 away from the light sensor 313 (shown as the right portion), that is, the first opening 321 exposes a portion of the first light emitting angle EA of the first light source 311 close to the light sensor 313 (shown as the left portion). In this way, the following can be achieved: Figure 2B As shown, part of the emitted light of the first light source 311 is shielded to reduce the intensity of the detection reference light of the light sensor 313 .

[0045] The light shielding member 32 further includes a second opening 322 located above the light sensor 313. In one embodiment, the second opening 322 exposes the entire light sensor 313. In another embodiment, the light shielding member 32 may shield a portion of the light sensor 313 away from the first light source 311 (e.g., the left portion), that is, the second opening 322 exposes a portion of the light sensor 313 close to the first light source 311 (e.g., the right portion), so as to further reduce the detection reference light intensity of the light sensor 313.

[0046] Please refer to Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , it is shown that when the shading member 32 covers different areas of the first light source 311, the intensity of the reflected light of the smoke 90 can be affected. In one embodiment, the opening edge 32E of the first opening 321 away from the light sensor 313 is aligned with the first edge E1 of the first light source 311 away from the light sensor 313. Figure 5It can be seen that a portion of the first luminous angle EA of the first light source 311 is shielded by the shading member 32. In another embodiment, the opening edge 32E of the first opening 321 away from the light sensor 313 is aligned with the center line of the first light source 311, and the effective luminous angle is displayed as EA1. In another embodiment, the opening edge 32E of the first opening 321 away from the light sensor 313 is aligned with the second edge E2 of the first light source 311 close to the light sensor 313, and the effective luminous angle is displayed as EA2.

[0047] In another embodiment, the opening edge 32E of the first opening 321 away from the light sensor 313 is arranged between the first edge E1 of the first light source 311 away from the light sensor 313 and the center line of the first light source 311. The opening edge 32E is closer to the first edge E1 and farther from the center line, for example, the light shielding member 32 shields less than 25% of the area of the first light source 311. The purpose of configuring the first opening 321 in this way is to Figure 2A and Figure 2B When there is no smoke in the cover body 23 shown, sufficient reference light intensity is retained. If the reference light intensity is too weak, the scattered light intensity (i.e. reflected by the smoke 90) will have a large fluctuation under different operating conditions.

[0048] In the present invention, the area of the first light source 311 shielded by the shading member 32 can be determined in advance according to parameters such as the light source intensity, the use environment of the smoke detector, the reflectivity of the cover surface of the smoke detector, and the desired sensitivity.

[0049] Please refer to Figure 4B FIG. 3 is another top view of the optomechanical structure 300' of the smoke detector according to the first embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, the optomechanical structure 300' further includes a second light emitting angle (also refer to Figure 5 )'s second light source 315. Figure 4B The first light source 311, the light sensor 313 and the second light source 315 are shown to be arranged on the substrate 310 along the first direction, and the light sensor 313 is located between the first light source 311 and the second light source 315. Preferably, the emission wavelengths of the first light source 311 and the second light source 315 are different. For example, the first light source 311 emits light with a wavelength of 460nm, and the second light source 315 emits light with a wavelength of 880nm, but is not limited to this. The purpose of configuring light sources with different emission wavelengths to originate from both sides of the light sensor is, for example, reference to U.S. patent application No. US17 / 320,222 owned by the same applicant of this case, with an application date of May 14, 2021, and the invention name is "Smoke Detector", the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

[0050] In this embodiment, the light shielding member 32 further has a third opening 323 located above the second light source 315, and the light shielding member 32 shields a portion of the second light emitting angle of the second light source 315 away from the light sensor 313 (shown as the left portion), that is, the third opening 323 exposes a portion of the second light emitting angle of the second light source 315 close to the light sensor 313 (shown as the right portion). In this embodiment, the second opening 322 preferably exposes the entire light sensor 313. In other embodiments, the optical-mechanical structure 300' may also be configured with a third light source 317, whose light emission wavelength is different from the first light source 311 and the second light source 315, for example, 525nm, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0051] It must be pointed out that although Figure 4B The third light source 317 and the first light source 311 are shown to be located on the same side of the optical sensor 313, but the present invention is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the third light source 317 and the second light source 315 may be located on the same side of the optical sensor 313, that is, on the left side.

[0052] It must be pointed out that although Figure 4B The third light source 317 and the first light source 311 share the first opening 321, but the present invention is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the light shielding member 32 further has an independent opening corresponding to the third light source 317 and separated from the first opening 321, that is, each light source has its own opening. In the present invention, the light shielding member 32 is to shield a portion of the light emitting angle of each light source, referring to Figure 5 .

[0053] By using the embodiment of the light shielding member 32 combined with the side wall 315, the smoke detector 300 has a larger volume. The present invention also provides an optomechanical structure that can reduce the overall volume of the smoke detector.

[0054] Please refer to Fig. 6E , which is a cross-sectional view of an optomechanical structure 600 of a smoke detector according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The optomechanical structure 600 also includes a substrate 610, a light source 611, and a light sensor 613, which are respectively the same as the aforementioned substrate 310, light source 311, and light sensor 313, and thus will not be described in detail here. The difference between the second embodiment and the first embodiment is that the optomechanical structure 600 does not use a light shielding member to cover the optomechanical structure 600 to reduce the volume.

[0055] The optical-mechanical structure 600 has a transparent colloid 64 covering the light sensor 613, the light source 611 and a part of the surface of the substrate 610, and has a first inclined surface 64S1 extending from the first side surface of the transparent colloid 64 close to the light source 611 to the top of the light source 611. The angle of the first inclined surface 64S1 (relative to the surface of the substrate 610) is between 15 and 80 degrees, but is not limited thereto. The transparent colloid 64 can be any light-transmitting (especially for the emitted light of the light source 611) material without specific restrictions, and maintains a solid state at room temperature.

[0056] The optomechanical structure 600 also has a first light shielding layer 643 formed on the first side surface and the first inclined surface 64S1 of the transparent colloid 64 to shield a portion of the light emitting angle of the light source 611 away from the light sensor 613. In this embodiment, the first light shielding layer 643 is, for example, a metal layer, and the metal layer is formed on the surface of the transparent colloid 64 by sputtering, evaporation, or coating. The metal can be a reflective material or a light absorbing material. The reflective material is, for example, selected from aluminum (Al), silver (Ag), gold (Au), etc., but is not limited thereto. The light absorbing material is, for example, selected from chromium (Cr), but is not limited thereto. The thickness of the metal layer is, for example, in the range of 0.5 microns to 10 microns.

[0057] According to the degree of shielding the light source 611 (for example, see Figure 5 ), the angle and length of the first inclined surface 64S1 can be determined. In addition, according to the degree of shielding the light source 611, it can also be determined whether the first light shielding layer 643 extends to the upper surface of the transparent colloid 64. Figure 5 At the effective light emitting angle EA2 shown, the first light shielding layer 643 may extend from the first inclined surface 64S1 to a portion of the upper surface of the transparent colloid 64 above the light source 611 .

[0058] In order to prevent the emitted light of the light source 611 from being directly transmitted to the light sensor 613, the optomechanical structure 600 further includes a baffle 641 located in the transparent colloid 64 and between the light source 611 and the light sensor 613. The baffle 641 is formed by filling a light-proof material in the vertical groove of the transparent colloid 64, wherein the material of the baffle 641 is not particularly limited as long as it can shield the emitted light of the light source 611. In one embodiment, the width of the top of the baffle 641 is greater than the width of the lower half to enhance the light shielding effect.

[0059] In order to further reduce the detection reference light intensity of the light sensor 613, the optical-mechanical structure 600 further includes a second light shielding layer 645 formed on the second side surface of the transparent colloid 64 near the light sensor 613 and a portion of the upper surface of the transparent colloid 64 above the light sensor 613. For example, the transparent colloid 64 also has a second inclined surface 64S2 extending from the second side surface to the top of the light sensor 613, and the second light shielding layer 645 is formed on the second inclined surface 64S2. The angle of the second inclined surface 64S2 (relative to the surface of the substrate 610) is between 15 and 80 degrees, which can be the same as or different from the angle of the first inclined surface 64S1, and there is no specific limitation.

[0060] It should be noted that, although the above description is that the light shielding layer is formed on the first side surface and the second side surface of the transparent colloid 64 , the present invention is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the light shielding layer is formed on all side surfaces of the transparent colloid 64 .

[0061] Please refer to FIG. 6A to FIG. 6D FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the manufacturing process of the optical-mechanical structure 600 of the smoke detector according to the second embodiment of the present invention. First, a substrate 610 is provided and a light source 611 and a light sensor 613 are arranged on the substrate 610. Fig. 6A As shown, multiple (for example, two are shown here, but not limited to) optical-mechanical structures 600 can be manufactured simultaneously. Next, a transparent colloid 64 is formed on the substrate 610 to cover the light source 611, the light sensor 613 and a portion of the upper surface of the substrate 610, as shown in FIG. Figure 6B Next, a semiconductor package cutting process (such as a cutting knife) is used to cut out the vertical groove 641P, the first inclined surface 64S1 and the second inclined surface 64S2, as shown in FIG. Figure 6C Next, the different optomechanical structures 600 are separated by a cutting knife, as shown in FIG. Fig.6D As shown. Finally, a light-proof material is filled into the vertical groove 641P to form a retaining wall 641, and a metal coating (as a light shielding layer) is formed on the side surface (which can be all or part of the side surface) of the transparent colloid 64 and the first inclined surface 64S1 and the second inclined surface 64S2 to complete the optical-mechanical structure 600 of the second embodiment of the present invention. The surface portion of the transparent colloid 64 where the light shielding layer is not to be formed can be shielded with a mask first, and then the mask is removed after the light shielding layer is completed. That is, the light shielding layer is formed by photolithography.

[0062] Please refer to Figure 7 As shown, in other embodiments, the retaining wall 643 is not formed by injecting opaque material into the vertical groove 641P of the transparent colloid 64, but is formed by coating a metal layer on the surface of the vertical groove of the transparent colloid 64 as a shading layer 741, for example, in the same manner as the first shading layer 643 and the second shading layer 645.

[0063] In another embodiment, the first light shielding layer 643 further extends into the interior of the transparent colloid 64 and shields a portion of the light source 611 whose light emitting angle is away from the light sensor 613, for example, by using the above-mentioned cutting process. In other words, as long as the detection reference light intensity of the light sensor 613 can be reduced, the light shielding metal coating can be formed on the surface and / or inside of the transparent colloid 64.

[0064] In another embodiment, the optomechanical structure uses an external light source, i.e., does not include a light source. Fig. 6E , this implementation only includes Fig. 6E The right half of the right optomechanical structure, that is, the optomechanical structure includes a substrate 610, a light sensor 613, a transparent colloid 64 and a light shielding layer 645. The light sensor 613 is disposed on the substrate 610. The transparent colloid 64 covers the light sensor 613 and a portion of the surface of the substrate 610, and has an inclined surface 64S2 extending from the side of the transparent colloid 64 to the top of the light sensor 613. The light shielding layer 645 is formed on the side (all or part) of the transparent colloid 64 and the inclined surface 64S2 to shield a portion of the area above the light sensor 613. In this embodiment, the light shielding layer 645 may extend only to the inclined surface 64S2 or continue to extend to the upper surface of the transparent colloid 64, depending on the required reference light intensity.

[0065] The first embodiment and the second embodiment mentioned above can be combined into another embodiment of the present invention.

[0066] Please refer to Figure 8 , which is a schematic diagram of the operation of the optical-mechanical structure 300' of the smoke detector according to the third embodiment of the present invention. In order to further increase the overall intensity of the scattered light of the smoke 90, an inclined top surface can be configured on the retaining wall 35 between the first light source 311 and the optical sensor 313. In this way, the range of the smoke 90 illuminated by the first light source 311 can be increased. The purpose of the retaining wall 35 is to block the light from being directly transmitted from the first light source 311 to the optical sensor 313.

[0067] In this embodiment, the height H of the baffle 35 is preferably between half the height of the shading member 32 and the same height of the shading member 32. At the same time, the inclination angle of the top surface of the baffle 35 is determined, for example, according to the height H of the baffle 35 and the lateral distance between the baffle 35 and the first light source 311.

[0068] In addition, the third embodiment may be combined with the first embodiment and / or the second embodiment as another embodiment of the present invention.

[0069] In summary, the conventional smoke detector is relatively large in size and has the problem of easily causing false alarms due to changes in the environment. Figures 3 to 5), which increases the ratio of the light intensity change caused by smoke to the reference light intensity by reducing the reference light intensity inside the cover, so as to improve the sensitivity and reduce the misjudgment rate. In addition, the present invention also provides a miniaturized optical-mechanical structure (reference Fig. 6E and Figure 7 ) and its production method (refer to FIG. 6A to FIG. 6D ), which mainly achieves the purpose of reducing the size by replacing the cover of the smoke detector with a coating layer.

[0070] Although the present invention has been disclosed through the above examples, they are not intended to limit the present invention. Any person skilled in the art with ordinary knowledge in the art to which the present invention belongs can make various changes and modifications without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Therefore, the protection scope of the present invention shall be subject to the scope defined by the appended claims.
