Abstract

This invention provides a driving device and method for a voice coil motor in a camera. The driving device includes a control unit storing duration parameters T1, T2, and T3. When driving the voice coil motor, the control unit calculates a first curve control signal, a second curve control signal, a third linear control signal, and a fourth linear control signal based on a target value from a command from the camera and the stored duration parameters T1, T2, and T3. These four signals form a continuous control signal. After the fourth linear control signal, the control signal represents the target value. By compensating for and adjusting the target value, the adjustment time of the voice coil motor (±5% error range) is reduced to approximately 7ms, resulting in a significant reduction in adjustment time.
