The master link (40) includes a first half link (50) and a second half link (56), and a bolt hole (78, 82) extending through the first half link (50) and the second half link (56). A first bolt (96) is located within a first one (78) of the bolt holes and has a necked bolt shank (104) defining a smaller necked axial length. A second bolt (108) is located within a second one (82) of the bolt holes and includes a necked bolt shank (116) defining a larger necked axial length. The first bolt (96) and the second bolt (108) can have unequal overall axial lengths.
