[0049] Hereinafter, a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described based on the accompanying drawings. In this embodiment, the battery pack is mounted on a vehicle. In addition, the accompanying drawings are viewed in the direction of the symbols. In addition, in this specification, etc., in order to make the description simple and clear, the front and rear, left and right, and up and down directions are described according to the direction viewed from the driver of the vehicle. In the accompanying drawings, the front of the vehicle is represented as Fr, the rear is represented as Rr, the left is represented as L, the right is represented as R, the top is represented as U, and the bottom is represented as D.
[0050] [Overall structure of the battery pack]
[0051] like Figure 1As shown, a battery pack 10 is mounted on a vehicle 1. The vehicle 1 is an electric vehicle such as a battery-type electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle, and is configured to be able to travel by driving a motor (not shown) using the electric power stored in the battery pack 10.
[0052] The battery pack 10 is placed in the interior space 2 of the vehicle 1, which includes a cabin CB where passengers sit and a luggage compartment LG where cargo is loaded. To explain in more detail, the battery pack 10 is placed in a storage recess (not shown) that is recessed in the floor 3. The floor 3 includes a front floor 3a that constitutes the floor portion of the cabin CB and a rear floor 3b that constitutes the floor portion of the luggage compartment LG that is provided behind the cabin CB, and the storage recess is provided at the front end of the rear floor 3b. The front floor 3a and the rear floor 3b are connected at a position below the rear seats (not shown), that is, the battery pack 10 is provided at a position below the rear seats.
[0053] like Figure 2 As shown, the battery pack 10 includes: a battery module 30; a fan 12 for blowing out cooling air for cooling the battery module 30; an air intake duct 13 installed on the upstream side of the fan 12; an air supply duct 14 installed on the downstream side of the fan 12; a battery electronic control unit (ECU: Electronic Control Unit) 15 for controlling the charging and discharging of the battery module 30; a terminal board 16 for electrically connecting the battery module 30 to an external device (not shown); and a housing 17 for housing these components.
[0054] The housing 17 includes a housing body 171 in a tray shape and a cover 172 covering the housing body 171 from above. The battery module 30, the fan 12, and the air supply duct 14 are placed on the housing body 171. The cover 172 covers the housing body 171 and is fixed to the floor 3. An air inlet 17a is formed on the front surface of the cover 172, and the air inlet 17a is covered by a ventilated grille 18. The air inlet 17a is connected to the indoor space 2, especially the cabin CB, and the air in the cabin CB is sucked into the battery pack 10 from the air inlet 17a by the fan 12.
[0055] Two battery modules 30 are arranged side by side in the front-rear direction and fixed to the case body 171. Hereinafter, the battery module 30 arranged on the front side may be referred to as battery module 30A, and the battery module 30 arranged on the rear side may be referred to as battery module 30B.
[0056] like Figure 3 As shown, each of the battery modules 30A and 30B includes a plurality of battery cells 31 stacked in the left-right direction. Each battery cell 31 includes a positive electrode terminal and a negative electrode terminal (not shown), and is, for example, a rectangular single cell.
[0057] Each battery cell 31 has a gas release valve 31a for releasing high-temperature and high-pressure gas (hereinafter, also referred to as gas) generated in the battery cell 31 to the outside of the battery cell 31. The gas release valve 31a of the battery module 30A is provided on the front surface of each battery cell 31, and the gas release valve 31a of the battery module 30B is provided on the rear surface of each battery cell 31. When the internal pressure of the gas generated in the battery cell 31 rises to a predetermined value or more due to some abnormality, the gas release valve 31a opens to release the gas generated in the battery cell 31 to the outside of the battery cell 31 in order to prevent damage to the battery cell 31.
[0058] In addition, each battery module 30A, 30B is provided with a gas release channel 32 that connects the gas release valves 31a of the plurality of battery cells 31. The gas release channel 32 is provided on the front surface of the battery module 30A and the rear surface of the battery module 30B, respectively, and extends along the stacking direction (i.e., the left-right direction) of the battery cells 31. The gas release channel 32 is connected to the gas pipe 40 described later, and the gas released from the battery cells 31 is guided to the outside of the housing 17 by the gas pipe 40. In addition, in Figure 2 In the figure, the gas pipe 40 is omitted.
[0059] return Figure 2 The fan 12 is, for example, a sirocco fan having a rotating shaft in the vertical direction, and inhales cooling air from an inlet 12a provided at the top and blows cooling air toward the air supply passage 14 from an outlet 12b provided in a centrifugal direction.
[0060] The air intake duct 13 connects the air intake port 17a provided in the cover 172 and the suction port 12a of the fan 12. The air intake duct 13 guides the air of the indoor space 2 as cooling air from the air intake port 17a to the fan 12. In the present embodiment, the air intake duct 13 includes an upstream channel component 131 and a downstream channel component 132. The upstream channel component 131 is connected to the air intake port 17a and is arranged above the battery module 30. The downstream channel component 132 is connected to the suction port 12a of the fan 12 and is arranged on the right side of the battery module 30. In addition, the air intake duct 13 may also be composed of one channel component or three or more channel components.
[0061] The air supply duct 14 is provided between the battery module 30 and the fan 12, and is connected to the blowout port 12b of the fan 12. The air supply duct 14 delivers the cooling air blown out from the blowout port 12b along the lower surface of the battery module 30. The cooling air delivered to the lower side of the battery module 30 flows from the lower side to the upper side in the inter-cell flow path (not shown) formed between the adjacent battery cells 31 to cool the battery module 30, and is discharged from the upper surface of the battery module 30. Thereafter, the cooling air is diffused in the housing 17, as shown in FIG. Figure 1 As shown by the thick arrow, the liquid is discharged to the outside of the housing 17 from the gap between the housing body 171 and the cover 172.
[0062] The battery ECU 15 is mounted on the bracket 19 attached to the battery module 30, and is arranged between the upstream duct member 131 and the battery module 30. The battery ECU 15 includes a processor, a memory, an interface, and the like.
[0063] The terminal plate 16 includes wiring components for the flow of charging power and discharging power of the battery module 30. The terminal plate 16 is disposed above the downstream channel component 132 and to the right of the upstream channel component 131. The terminal plate 16 is mounted on the bracket 20 provided above the downstream channel component 132.
[0064] [Gas Exhaust Structure]
[0065] Next, refer to Figures 3 to 6 A gas exhaust structure for exhausting the gas generated in the battery cell 31 to the outside of the indoor space 2 will be described.
[0066] like Figure 3 As shown, as a gas discharge structure, the battery pack 10 includes: the above-mentioned gas release channel 32; a gas pipe 40, which is connected to the gas release channel 32 and guides the gas released from the battery cell 31 to the outside of the shell 17; and a discharge portion 50, which is arranged in the vehicle compartment CB outside the shell 17 and is connected to the gas pipe 40, and discharges the gas flowing in the gas pipe 40 to the outside of the vehicle compartment CB.
[0067] As described above, the gas release passage 32 is provided in each of the battery modules 30A and 30B. The gas release passage 32 has a connection portion 33 connected to the gas pipe 40 at the left end. The connection portion 33 has a cylindrical shape and extends to the left.
[0068] The gas pipe 40 is a flexible member, for example, formed of rubber, and is connected to the gas release passage 32 and the discharge portion 50 , and guides the gas to the discharge portion 50 .
[0069] The gas pipe 40 includes an upstream pipe 41 connected to the gas release passage 32 of the battery module 30A, an upstream pipe 42 connected to the gas release passage 32 of the battery module 30B, and a downstream pipe 43 connected to the discharge portion 50. The upstream pipe 41, the upstream pipe 42, and the downstream pipe 43 are all the same type of pipes with the same inner diameter, but the lengths in the longitudinal direction may be different from each other.
[0070] The upstream pipes 41 and 42 and the downstream pipe 43 are connected to each other via a joint member 60 fixed to the inside of the casing 17. The joint member 60 is formed of, for example, resin.
[0071] The joint member 60 is disposed at a position spaced to the left relative to the battery modules 30A, 30B and disposed between the battery modules 30A, 30B in the front-rear direction. By disposing the joint member 60 in this way, the joint member 60, the upstream pipe 41, and the upstream pipe 42 can be disposed in a well-balanced manner.
[0072] The joint member 60 has a substantially T-shaped flow path formed therein, and has an upstream portion 61 extending in the front-rear direction and a downstream portion 62 extending to the left from the front-rear center portion of the upstream portion 61. The upstream pipes 41 and 42 are connected to the front end and rear end of the upstream portion 61 of the joint member 60, respectively, and the upstream pipes 41 and 42 and the joint member 60 are arranged in a substantially U-shape in a plan view. The downstream pipe 43 is connected to the downstream portion 62 of the joint member 60 and extends to the outside of the housing 17.
[0073] In addition, a check valve (not shown) is provided at the downstream portion 62 of the joint member 60 to allow the gas to flow from the upstream side to the downstream side and to block the gas from flowing in the opposite direction.
[0074] The discharge portion 50 is provided in the vehicle compartment CB outside the housing 17 and is attached to the vehicle body of the vehicle 1. In the present embodiment, the discharge portion 50 is attached to the vehicle body at a position to the left and rear of the joint member 60.
[0075] The discharge portion 50 has a connection portion 53 connected to the downstream side pipe 43 and a discharge port 54 communicating with the outside of the vehicle body CB. The discharge portion 50 has a substantially L-shaped flow path from the connection portion 53 to the discharge port 54. The discharge portion 50 is attached to, for example, a cross member (not shown) which is a part of the vehicle body, and the discharge port 54 communicates with the inside of the cross member.
[0076] Here, refer to Figures 4 to 6 The connection between the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40 and the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 will be described.
[0077] like Figure 4 As shown, the gas release channel 32 has a protrusion 35 protruding in the radial direction at the connection portion 33. The protrusion 35 is formed, for example, by convex processing, and is continuously provided along the circumference of the connection portion 33. The outer diameter D1 (maximum diameter) of the protrusion 35 is larger than the inner diameter of the gas pipe 40. When the gas pipe 40 is inserted into the connection portion 33 in a manner covering the connection portion 33, the inner surface of the gas pipe 40 is pressed radially outward by the protrusion 35. As a result, the gas pipe 40 is clamped to the gas release channel 32 at the connection portion 33 and connected to the gas release channel 32. In this way, the gas release channel 32 and the gas pipe 40 are connected without being clamped by other components such as clamps.
[0078] like Figure 6 As shown, for example, when gas is released from the gas release valve 31a of the battery module 30A due to an abnormality of the battery cell 31 (the dotted arrow in the figure), and a force (the thick arrow in the figure) is applied to the upstream pipe 41 in the direction of separation from the gas release passage 32 (the left direction in this embodiment), a moment (the thick arrow in the figure) that rotates counterclockwise in a plan view is applied to the joint member 60. On the other hand, as described above, since the upstream pipes 41, 42 and the joint member 60 are configured in a substantially U-shape, a force is applied to the upstream pipe 42 in the direction toward the gas release passage 32 (the right direction in this embodiment). At this time, the force (the thick arrow in the figure) applied to the upstream pipe 42 is borne by the gas release passage 32 of the battery module 30B. According to such a configuration, since the upstream pipes 41, 42 and the joint member 60 do not rotate, it is difficult for the upstream pipe 41 to separate from the gas release passage 32.
[0079] Therefore, even when the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40 do not use other components such as a clamp as in the present embodiment, the gas pipe 40 is unlikely to fall off from the gas release passage 32, thereby reducing the number of components and assembly man-hours.
[0080] like Figure 5 As shown, the discharge portion 50 has a protrusion 55 protruding in the radial direction at the connection portion 53. The protrusion 55 is formed, for example, by convex processing, and is continuously provided along the circumference of the connection portion 53. The outer diameter D2 (maximum diameter) of the protrusion 55 is larger than the inner diameter of the gas pipe 40. When the gas pipe 40 is inserted into the connection portion 53 in a manner covering the connection portion 53, the inner surface of the gas pipe 40 is pressed radially outward by the protrusion 55. As a result, the gas pipe 40 is clamped to the discharge portion 50 at the connection portion 53 and connected to the discharge portion 50. In this way, the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 are connected without being clamped by other components such as clamps.
[0081] In the present embodiment, the outer diameter D2 of the protrusion 55 of the discharge portion 50 is larger than the outer diameter D1 of the protrusion 35 of the gas release passage 32. According to such a configuration, the gas pipe 40 is pressed more strongly radially outward by the protrusion 55 in the discharge portion 50 than in the gas release passage 32. Therefore, the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 is more secure than the connection between the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40.
[0082] For example, when the internal pressure of the gas generated in the battery cell 31 due to an abnormality of the battery cell 31 becomes greater than a predetermined value, the gas is usually released from the gas release valve 31a and discharged from the discharge portion 50 to the outside of the indoor space 2 (for example, the inside of the beam) through the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40. However, if a blockage occurs inside the beam or the discharge portion 50, the gas pipe 40 may be separated from the gas release passage 32 or the discharge portion 50 due to the increase in the internal pressure in the gas pipe 40. Assuming that there is no difference between the strength of the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 and the strength of the connection between the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40, specifically, when the protrusion 35 of the gas release passage 32 and the protrusion 55 of the discharge portion 50 have the same outer diameter, the gas exhaust control does not work, and the gas pipe 40 may be separated from the discharge portion 50 due to the increase in the internal pressure in the gas pipe 40.
[0083] In the present embodiment, as described above, since the outer diameter D2 of the protruding portion 55 of the discharge portion 50 is larger than the outer diameter D1 of the protruding portion 35 of the gas release passage 32, the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 is stronger than the connection between the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40. Therefore, the gas pipe 40 is easier to be separated from the gas release passage 32 than the connection between the gas pipe 40 and the discharge portion 50. Thus, it is possible to prevent the gas pipe 40 from being separated from the discharge portion 50 disposed on the outside of the housing 17 and the high-temperature gas from hitting the occupants of the vehicle compartment CB.
[0084] In addition, since the strength of the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 and the strength of the connection between the gas release passage 32 and the gas pipe 40 are different due to the protrusions 35 and 55 provided on the connection portions 33 and 53, it is not necessary to provide other components such as clamps on the connection portion 53 to make the connection firm. Therefore, the number of components and the number of assembly man-hours can be reduced.
[0085] When the gas pipe 40 is separated from the gas release passage 32, the gas is released from the gas release passage 32 to the inside of the housing 17. The gas diffuses inside the housing 17 and is discharged to the outside of the battery pack 10, that is, the vehicle cabin CB, together with the cooling air. In addition, since the temperature of the gas diffused inside the housing 17 is lowered, the high-temperature gas does not hit the occupants of the vehicle cabin CB.
[0086] Above, one embodiment of the present invention has been described with reference to the accompanying drawings, but the present invention is certainly not limited to this embodiment. Obviously, those skilled in the art can think of various variations or modifications within the scope of the technical solution, and it should be understood that these variations and modifications also belong to the technical scope of the present invention. In addition, the various constituent elements in the above-mentioned embodiment can also be arbitrarily combined within the scope of the main purpose of the invention.
[0087] For example, in the above embodiment, the battery pack 10 includes two battery modules 30A and 30B, but the number of battery modules 30 may be one or more than three. In addition, the battery module 30 of the present embodiment does not need to be modularized, but may exist as a single cell stack formed by stacking a plurality of battery cells 31 in the housing 17.
[0088] In addition, in the above-mentioned embodiment, the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 is made stronger than the connection between the gas release channel 32 and the gas pipe 40 by making the outer diameter D2 of the protrusion 55 of the discharge portion 50 larger than the outer diameter D1 of the protrusion 35 of the gas release channel 32, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 may be made stronger than the connection between the gas release channel 32 and the gas pipe 40 by using other components such as a clamp. In addition, the connection between the discharge portion 50 and the gas pipe 40 may be made stronger than the connection between the gas release channel 32 and the gas pipe 40 by making the inner diameter of the downstream side pipe 43 smaller than the inner diameter of the upstream side pipes 41 and 42.
[0089] At least the following matters are described in this specification. In parentheses, corresponding components in the above-mentioned embodiment are shown as examples, but the present invention is not limited to these.
[0090] (1) A battery pack (battery pack 10) comprising:
[0091] a housing (housing 17) which is placed in an interior space (interior space 2) of a vehicle (vehicle 1) and includes a housing body (housing body 171) and a cover (cover 172) covering the housing body;
[0092] at least one battery stack (battery module 30 ) which is housed in the housing and has a plurality of battery cells (battery cells 31 ) stacked thereon each having a gas release valve (gas release valve 31 a );
[0093] a gas release passage (gas release passage 32) which is received in the housing and connected to the gas release valves of the plurality of battery cells;
[0094] a gas pipe (gas pipe 40 ) connected to the gas release passage and guiding the gas released from the battery cell to the outside of the housing; and
[0095] A discharge unit (discharge unit 50) is provided in the indoor space outside the shell and is connected to the gas pipe, and discharges the gas flowing in the gas pipe to the outside of the indoor space, wherein:
[0096] The connection between the discharge portion and the gas pipe is stronger than the connection between the gas release passage and the gas pipe.
[0097] According to (1), when the gas released from the battery cell due to an abnormality of the battery cell causes the gas pipe to be separated from the connection portion, the gas pipe is more likely to be separated from the gas release passage accommodated inside the housing than from the connection between the gas pipe and the discharge portion. Therefore, it is possible to avoid the gas pipe from being separated from the discharge portion provided outside the housing, and it is possible to suppress the gas from being directly released into the interior space of the vehicle.
[0098] (2) The battery pack according to (1), wherein:
[0099] The gas release passage and the discharge portion each have a protrusion (protrusion 35, 55) protruding in the radial direction at the connection portion (connection portion 33, 53) with the gas pipe and pressing the inner surface of the gas pipe radially outward.
[0100] The outer diameter (outer diameter D2) of the protruding portion of the discharge portion is larger than the outer diameter (outer diameter D1) of the protruding portion of the gas release passage.
[0101] According to (2), since the outer diameter of the protrusion of the discharge part is made larger than the outer diameter of the protrusion of the gas release channel, the connection between the discharge part and the gas pipe can be made firm. Therefore, for example, there is no need to set other parts such as clamps at the connection part with the gas pipe, which can reduce the number of parts and assembly man-hours.
[0102] (3) The battery pack according to (1) or (2), wherein:
[0103] The at least one single cell stack includes a first single cell stack (battery module 30A) and a second single cell stack (battery module 30B),
[0104] The gas pipe includes: a first pipe (upstream pipe 41) connected to the gas release passage of the first single cell stack; a second pipe (upstream pipe 42) connected to the gas release passage of the second single cell stack; and a third pipe (downstream pipe 43) connected to the discharge portion.
[0105] The first tube, the second tube, and the third tube are connected to each other via a joint member (joint member 60 ) provided inside the housing.
[0106] According to (3), the gas pipe can be composed of a plurality of pipes.
[0107] (4) The battery pack according to (3), wherein:
[0108] The first single cell stack and the second single cell stack are arranged side by side in a second direction (front-rear direction) orthogonal to a first direction (left-right direction) which is a stacking direction of the battery cells.
[0109] The tab member is disposed at a position separated from the first cell stack and the second cell stack in the first direction, and is disposed between the first cell stack and the second cell stack in the second direction.
[0110] According to (4), the joint member, the first tube connected to the gas release passage of the first cell stack, and the second tube connected to the gas release passage of the second cell stack can be arranged in a balanced manner.
[0111] (5) The battery pack according to (4), wherein:
[0112] The joint component has a substantially T-shaped flow path and is connected to the first tube and the second tube along the second direction and is connected to the third tube along the first direction.
[0113] The first tube, the second tube, and the joint member are arranged to form a substantially U-shaped flow path.
[0114] For example, when gas is released from the gas release valve of the first cell stack and a force is applied to the first tube in a direction of detachment from the gas release passage, a torque is applied to the joint component to rotate due to the force. According to (5), since the first tube, the second tube, and the joint component are configured to form a substantially U-shaped flow path, the force applied to the second tube is borne by the gas release passage of the second cell stack. Therefore, the first tube, the second tube, and the joint component can be prevented from rotating, making it difficult for the first tube and the second tube to detach from the gas release passage.
