[0008] Problems to be solved by the invention

[0009] In addition, the inventors of the present invention have attempted to provide a flange portion having an electrode portion and a cooling portion in the inlet pipe portion in order to achieve temperature and viscosity adjustment of the molten glass in the supply pipe for supplying the molten glass to the kettle. As a result, the inventors of the present invention have obtained the following insight: in the structure disclosed in Patent Document 1, devitrification is likely to occur in the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion.

[0010] From the above viewpoints, an object of the present invention is to suppress devitrification of molten glass in an inlet pipe portion when a flange portion including an electrode portion and a cooling portion is provided in an inlet pipe portion leading to an inlet of a kettle.

[0011] Solutions to Solve Problems

[0012] As a result of repeated and intensive research, the inventors of the present invention have found that the reason why the molten glass is easily devitrified in the inlet pipe is as follows. That is, when the liquid level of the molten glass in the kettle is maintained lower than the upper end of the inlet as disclosed in Patent Document 1, as described in the document, Figure 1As shown in FIG. 1 , the liquid level of the molten glass in the inlet pipe is also maintained lower than the upper end of the inner surface thereof. In other words, a gap is formed in the upper part of the molten glass in the inlet pipe, and a part of the inner surface side of the flange portion is not in contact with the molten glass and is exposed. In this state, when the inlet pipe portion is provided with a flange portion having an electrode portion and a cooling portion, the temperature of the molten glass near the liquid level on the inner surface side of the flange portion is locally reduced, so that devitrification is easily generated in the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion. The present invention made based on the research results of the above-mentioned inventors is based on the following (1) to (6).

[0013] (1) A first aspect of the present invention is a method for manufacturing a glass article, comprising: a kettle having an inlet for molten glass formed on a side wall portion and maintaining a liquid level of the molten glass inside the kettle at a level lower than an upper end of the inlet; and an inlet pipe portion, which is a downstream portion of a supply pipe that supplies molten glass into the kettle through the inlet, wherein the method for manufacturing a glass article manufactures the glass article through a step of transferring molten glass flowing out through an outlet provided at a position below the inlet of the kettle to a forming device, wherein a flange portion having an electrode portion and a cooling portion is provided on the inlet pipe portion, and the entire circumference of the inner surface side of the flange portion is filled with molten glass. Here, the inlet pipe portion means a tubular portion having a portion connected to the side wall portion of the kettle as a downstream end and a portion of the supply pipe that is closest to the kettle and can be attached and detached as an upstream end.

[0014] According to this method, although the liquid level of the molten glass is maintained lower than the upper end of the inlet in the kettle, the entire circumference of the inner surface side of the flange portion having the electrode portion and the cooling portion in the inlet pipe portion leading to the inlet is filled with molten glass. Thus, no gap is formed on the inner surface side of the flange portion, thereby preventing the local temperature of the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion from decreasing. As a result, a high-quality glass article with few defects can be obtained.

[0015] (2) In the structure of (1) above, it is also possible that by making at least the downstream side portion of the inlet pipe portion rise and tilt from the upstream side to the downstream side, the liquid level of the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion reaches the upper end of the inner surface of the inlet pipe portion at a position of the inlet pipe portion that is closer to the downstream side than the flange portion.

[0016] In this manner, the molten glass can be appropriately filled over the entire circumference of the inner surface side of the flange portion with a simple and effective structure.

[0017] (3) In the configuration of (2) above, the upstream portion of the inlet pipe portion may be inclined upward from the upstream side toward the downstream side.

[0018] (4) In the configuration of (2) above, an upstream portion of the inlet pipe portion may be arranged along a horizontal direction.

[0019] (5) In the structure of (1) above, the liquid level of the molten glass from the inlet of the inlet pipe portion to the inlet may be inclined downward from the upstream side to the downstream side, so that the liquid level of the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion reaches the upper end of the inner surface of the inlet pipe portion at a position of the inlet pipe portion that is closer to the downstream side than the flange portion.

[0020] In this manner, even when the inlet pipe portion is arranged in the horizontal direction over the entire length of the downstream portion and the upstream portion, devitrification of the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion can be suppressed.

[0021] (6) A second aspect of the present invention is a device for manufacturing glass articles, comprising: a kettle having an inlet for molten glass formed on a side wall portion; an inlet pipe portion, which is a downstream portion of a supply pipe for supplying molten glass into the kettle through the inlet; and a forming device, to which molten glass flowing out through an outflow port provided in the kettle at a position lower than the inflow port is supplied, wherein the device for manufacturing glass articles is characterized in that a flange portion having an electrode portion and a cooling portion is provided on the inlet pipe portion, and that at least a downstream portion of the inflow pipe portion is inclined upward from the upstream side toward the downstream side.

[0022] According to this device, a useful structure capable of suppressing devitrification of the molten glass flowing into the pipe portion is obtained.

[0023] Effects of the Invention

[0024] According to the present invention, even when the inlet pipe portion leading to the inlet of the kettle is provided with the flange portion having the electrode portion and the cooling portion, devitrification of the molten glass in the inlet pipe portion can be suppressed. [0033] Hereinafter, a glass article manufacturing apparatus and a glass article manufacturing method according to embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0034] Figure 1 1 is a schematic side view of a manufacturing device for glass articles of the present invention. As shown in the figure, the manufacturing device 1 is roughly divided into: a melting furnace 2, which is arranged at the upstream end and heats glass raw materials to generate molten glass Gm; a transfer device 3, which transfers the molten glass Gm flowing out of the melting furnace 2 toward the downstream side; and a forming device 4, which uses the molten glass Gm supplied from the transfer device 3 to form a glass ribbon Gr. The glass ribbon Gr formed by the forming device 4 is then cut in the width direction by a cutting device (not shown) to become a glass original plate. The glass original plate is further subjected to various treatments in post-processes such as a process of cutting into a predetermined size as needed. As a result, a glass plate as a glass article is manufactured. It should be noted that in the case of manufacturing a glass roll as a glass article, the two ends in the width direction are cut and removed from the glass ribbon Gr formed by the forming device 4, and then wound in a roll shape.

[0035] The transfer device 3 includes, in order from the upstream side, a clarification container 5 constituting a clarification tank, a stirring tank 6 constituting a stirring tank, a state adjustment tank 7 constituting a state adjustment tank, and an introduction pipe 8 for supplying the molten glass Gm discharged from the state adjustment tank 7. The molten glass Gm flowing out of the melting furnace 2 is supplied to the clarification container 5 via a first supply pipe 9. The molten glass Gm flowing out of the clarification container 5 is supplied to the stirring tank 6 via a second supply pipe 10. The molten glass Gm flowing out of the stirring tank 6 is supplied to the state adjustment tank 7 via a third supply pipe (cooling pipe) 11.

[0036] The clarification container 5 performs clarification treatment on the molten glass Gm generated in the melting furnace 2. The stirring kettle 6 stirs the molten glass Gm that has been subjected to the clarification treatment and performs homogenization treatment. The third supply pipe 11 adjusts the temperature or viscosity of the molten glass Gm that has been subjected to the homogenization treatment. The state adjustment kettle 7 adjusts the state of the molten glass Gm represented by further adjusting the temperature or viscosity of the molten glass Gm that has been subjected to the adjustment of the temperature or viscosity, adjusting the flow rate, etc. It should be noted that a plurality of stirring kettles 6 can also be configured in the transfer path of the transfer device 3.

[0037] The forming device 4 includes a forming body 12 that is formed into a strip shape by, for example, an overflow down-draw method by causing the molten glass Gm to flow down. The molten glass Gm is introduced into the forming body 12 through an introduction duct 8 .

[0038] The glass ribbon Gr formed into a ribbon shape is subjected to appropriate treatment after the annealing process to become a glass original plate of a desired size. The glass plate obtained from the glass original plate has a thickness of, for example, 0.01 to 2 mm and is used in glass substrates and cover glasses of various displays such as liquid crystal displays and organic EL displays. It should be noted that the forming device 4 can also perform other down-drawing methods such as the slit down-drawing method, and can also perform methods other than the down-drawing method, such as the float method.

[0039] The molten glass is composed of silicate glass or silica glass, preferably borosilicate glass, soda-lime glass, or aluminosilicate glass (chemically strengthened glass), and most preferably alkali-free glass. Here, the so-called alkali-free glass refers to glass that does not substantially contain alkali components (alkali metal oxides), specifically, glass in which the weight ratio of alkali components is 3000 ppm or less. The weight ratio of alkali components in the present invention is preferably 1000 ppm or less, more preferably 500 ppm or less, and most preferably 300 ppm or less.

[0040] Next, the characteristic structure of the manufacturing device 1 of the glass article of this embodiment is described. This characteristic structure lies in the structure between the third supply pipe 11 and the state adjustment vessel 7. Figure 2 to Figure 8 The first to fourth examples of this characteristic structure will be described in detail.

[0041] Figure 2 This is a longitudinal sectional side view showing a first example of a characteristic structure, and illustrates a main part of a third supply pipe 11 (hereinafter simply referred to as the supply pipe 11), a state adjustment kettle 7 (hereinafter simply referred to as the kettle 7), and an introduction pipe 8 (its upper end).

[0042] As shown in the figure, the supply pipe 11 is composed of an inflow pipe portion 11A as a downstream portion thereof and an upstream pipe portion 11B as an upstream portion of the inflow pipe portion 11A. The length of the supply pipe 11 is, for example, 1m to 6m, preferably 2m to 4m. The length of the inflow pipe portion 11A is, for example, 0.3m to 2m, preferably 0.5m to 1m. A flange portion 11Aa is provided at the upstream end of the inflow pipe portion 11A. The flange portion 11Aa can be detachably joined and fixed to a flange portion 11Ba provided at the downstream end of the upstream pipe portion 11B. It should be noted that the upstream end of the upstream pipe portion 11B is connected to the stirring tank 6 described above.

[0043] The kettle 7 is provided with a side wall portion 7A. The side wall portion 7A is composed of an upper wall portion 7Aa, an intermediate wall portion 7Ab and a lower wall portion 7Ac. The upper wall portion 7Aa has the same diameter from the upstream end to the downstream end. The intermediate wall portion 7Ab is connected to the lower end of the upper wall portion 7Aa and gradually decreases in diameter as it tends downward. The lower wall portion 7Ac is connected to the lower end of the intermediate wall portion 7Ab and has the same diameter from the upstream end to the downstream end. An outflow port 7B for allowing the molten glass Gm to flow out from the kettle 7 is formed at the lower end of the lower wall portion 7Ac.

[0044] An inlet 7C for the molten glass Gm is formed at a middle position in the vertical direction of the side wall portion 7A (upper wall portion 7Aa) of the kettle 7. In addition, the downstream end of the inlet pipe portion 11A is connected to the same position as above on the side wall portion 7A (upper wall portion 7Aa) of the kettle 7. Therefore, the internal passage of the inlet pipe portion 11A is connected to the inlet 7C of the kettle 7. In this case, the inlet pipe portion 11A is connected to the side wall portion 7A of the kettle 7 in a manner that the tube axis thereof passes through the center of the inlet 7C.

[0045] If the above structure is taken into consideration, the inflow pipe portion 11A is defined as follows, that is, the inflow pipe portion 11A means the tubular portion with the portion connected to the side wall portion 7A of the kettle 7 as the downstream end and the portion of the supply pipe 11 that is closest to the kettle 7 and can be loaded and unloaded (the portion that can be detached from the upstream pipe portion 11B during maintenance, etc.) as the upstream end.

[0046] Figure 3This is a longitudinal sectional side view showing the main part of the first example in an enlarged manner. As shown in the figure, the inflow pipe portion 11A is inclined upward from the upstream side to the downstream side. The inclination angle α of the inflow pipe portion 11A (specifically, its pipe axis) relative to the horizontal plane is preferably 0.5 to 30°, and more preferably 1 to 20°. The tubular portion 11Ab of the inflow pipe portion 11A extends in a straight line and has the same diameter from the downstream end to the upstream end. It should be noted that the downstream end of the upstream pipe portion 11B is located at a higher position than its upstream end.

[0047] like Figure 3 As shown, the flange portion 11Aa of the inflow pipe portion 11A includes an electrode portion 11x and a cooling portion 11y. Figure 4 It is a rear view of the flange portion 11Aa viewed from the downstream side toward the upstream side, and shows an example of the electrode portion 11x and the cooling portion 11y. As shown in the figure, the electrode portion 11x is integrally provided to protrude upward from the upper portion of the flange portion 11Aa. The cooling portion 11y includes a cooling pipe 11ya fixed to the side of the flange portion 11Aa and the electrode portion 11x. The cooling pipe 11ya has an annular portion 11yb and a pair of straight portions 11yc communicating with the annular portion 11yb. In addition, by allowing a cooling medium (such as water or air) to flow from the straight portion 11yc on one side through the annular portion 11yb to the straight portion 11yc on the other side, the flange portion 11Aa and the electrode portion 11x are cooled, and the electrode portion 11x is protected. It should be noted that the flange portion 11Ba of the upstream pipe portion 11B also includes the same electrode portion 11x1 and cooling portion 11y1 (see Figure 3 ).

[0048] Next, a method for producing a glass article (glass plate) using the characteristic structure of the first example will be described.

[0049] like Figure 3As shown, the liquid level L1 of the molten glass Gm in the kettle 7 is maintained lower than the upper end 7Ca of the inlet 7C of the kettle 7. It should be noted that the liquid level L1 of the molten glass Gm is maintained higher than the lower end 7Cb of the inlet 7C. In addition, the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm in the inflow pipe portion 11A reaches the upper end of the inner surface 11Ac of the inflow pipe portion 11A at a position P1 on the downstream side of the flange portion 11Aa. Therefore, the inner circumference of the flange portion 11Aa is filled with molten glass Gm on the entire circumference. As a result, the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm is not formed on the inner surface side of the flange portion 11Aa, so that the local temperature drop of the molten glass Gm in the inflow pipe portion 11A can be prevented. It should be noted that the inner circumference of the flange portion 11Ba of the upstream pipe portion 11B is also filled with molten glass Gm on the entire circumference, so the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm is not formed on the inner surface side of the flange portion 11Ba. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the local temperature of the molten glass Gm flowing into the pipe portion 11A from decreasing. As a result, devitrification of the molten glass Gm in the upstream pipe portion 11B is suppressed, and a high-quality glass sheet with few defects can be obtained.

[0050] Here, in addition to the flange 11Ba shown in the figure, one or more flanges (flanges with electrodes and cooling parts) are provided in the upstream pipe 11B, but the inner circumference of these flanges is also filled with molten glass Gm over the entire circumference. It should be noted that the current flowing to the supply pipe 11 through the electrode parts (including the electrode parts 11x and 11x1) provided in the multiple flanges (including the flanges 11Aa and 11Ba) provided in the supply pipe 11 is controlled, so that the temperature and viscosity of the molten glass Gm flowing into the kettle 7 through the inlet 7C are adjusted. In addition, multiple flanges that are not shown but are provided with electrodes and cooling parts are also provided in the kettle 7. And, the current flowing to the kettle 7 through the electrode parts of these flanges is controlled, so that the temperature, viscosity and flow rate of the molten glass Gm flowing out from the outlet 7B of the kettle 7 are adjusted.

[0051] Figure 5 is a longitudinal sectional side view for explaining the characteristic structure of the second example and a method for manufacturing a glass plate using the characteristic structure. Figure 6 The second example is different from the first example described above in that the inlet pipe portion 11A is divided into a downstream portion 11Ad and an upstream portion 11Ae, and the downstream portion 11Ad is inclined upward from the upstream side to the downstream side, and the upstream portion 11Ae is along the horizontal direction. The other structures are the same as the first example described above, so the common components in the two examples are Figure 5 as well as Figure 6 The same reference numerals are used in the figure, and the description thereof is omitted. Figure 6As shown in FIG. 1 , the inner circumference of the flange 11Aa is filled with molten glass Gm all around. Therefore, according to the second example, the same effects as those of the first example described above can be achieved. Furthermore, according to the second example, the upstream portion 11Ae of the inflow pipe 11A is along the horizontal direction, so that the operation of attaching and detaching the two flanges 11Aa and 11Ba becomes easy.

[0052] Figure 7 This is a longitudinal sectional side view showing the main part in an enlarged manner for explaining the characteristic structure of the third example and the method for manufacturing a glass sheet using the characteristic structure. The third example is different from the first example described in that the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm flowing into the pipe portion 11A is inclined downward at an angle β from the upstream side to the downstream side. The angle β is preferably 2 to 20°, and more preferably 5 to 15°. The other structures are the same as those of the first example described in the description, so the components common to the two examples are described in detail. Figure 7 11Aa, and the same reference numerals are used, and the description thereof is omitted. According to the third example, the position P1 at which the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm in the inflow pipe portion 11A reaches the upper end of the inner surface 11Ac of the inflow pipe portion 11A can be made farther downstream from the flange portion 11Aa than the first example described above. Thus, the temperature drop of the molten glass Gm in the inflow pipe portion 11A can be reduced compared to the first example described above.

[0053] The reason why the third example can make the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm flowing into the pipe portion 11A tend to the downstream side and descend and tilt as shown below. That is, in order to maintain the liquid level L1 of the molten glass Gm in the kettle 7 to be lower than the upper end 7Ca of the inlet 7C, the temperature of the molten glass Gm flowing into the kettle 7 through the inlet 7C is reduced to increase its viscosity and / or the temperature of the molten glass Gm flowing out of the kettle 7 through the outlet 7B is increased to reduce its viscosity. In this case, if the degree of reducing the viscosity of the molten glass Gm flowing out of the kettle 7 is relatively large, the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm flowing into the pipe portion 11A tends to descend and tilt from the upstream side to the downstream side as shown in the figure. This situation is known to the inventors through experiments and numerical analysis. It should be noted that the third example can also be applied to the first example and the second example described.

[0054] Figure 8 This is a longitudinal sectional side view showing the main part in an enlarged manner for explaining the characteristic structure of the fourth example and the method for manufacturing a glass sheet using the characteristic structure. The fourth example is different from the first example described above in that the inlet pipe section 11A is arranged in a horizontal direction over the entire length from the upstream side to the downstream side, and the liquid level L2 of the molten glass Gm in the inlet pipe section 11A is inclined downward at an angle β from the upstream side to the downstream side. The other structures are the same as those of the first example described above, so the components common to the two examples are described in detail. Figure 8 The same reference numerals are used in the fourth example, and the description thereof is omitted. In the fourth example, the inner circumference of the flange 11Aa of the inlet pipe 11A is also filled with the molten glass Gm over the entire circumference (the same is true for the flange 11Ba of the upstream pipe 11B), so the same effects as those of the first example described above can be achieved. In addition, according to the fourth example, the inlet pipe 11A is arranged in the horizontal direction as a whole, so the manufacturing is facilitated, and the operation of attaching and detaching the two flanges 11Aa and 11Ba is further facilitated.

[0055] As mentioned above, the manufacturing apparatus of the glass article and the manufacturing method of the glass article according to the embodiment of the present invention have been described, but the embodiment of the present invention is not limited thereto, and various changes can be made within the scope not departing from the gist of the present invention.

[0056] For example, in the above embodiment, the present invention is applied to the mutual structure between the third supply pipe 11 and the state adjustment kettle 7 and the manufacturing method of the glass plate using the structure, but the present invention can also be similarly applied to the mutual structure between the second supply pipe 10 and the stirring kettle 6 and the manufacturing method of the glass plate using the structure.

[0057] The shape of the upstream pipe portion 11B in the above embodiment is not limited to the shape in the figure, and may be other shapes as long as its downstream end is connected to the upstream end of the inflow pipe portion 11A. However, it is preferred that the downstream end of the upstream pipe portion 11B is located higher than its upstream end.

[0058] The structure of the cooling portion 11y included in the flange portion 11Aa in the above embodiment is not limited to Figure 4 The structure shown may be another structure as long as it has the function of cooling the flange portion 11Aa and the electrode portion 11x.
