DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0026] (First embodiment)
[0027] Below, refer to Figures 1 to 6 The first embodiment is described. In addition, in this specification, the constituent elements of the embodiment and the description of the element are sometimes recorded by multiple expressions. The constituent elements and their description are examples and are not limited by the expressions in this specification. The constituent elements can also be identified by names different from the names in this specification. In addition, the constituent elements can also be described by expressions different from the expressions in this specification.
[0028] In the following description, “suppress” is defined as, for example, preventing a phenomenon, action, or influence from occurring, or reducing the degree of a phenomenon, action, or influence.
[0029] Figure 1 This is an exemplary perspective view showing an exploded hard disk drive (HDD) 10 according to the first embodiment. The HDD 10 is an example of a disk device and may also be referred to as an electronic device, a storage device, an external storage device, or a magnetic disk device. The disk device is not limited to the HDD 10 .
[0030] like Figure 1 As shown, HDD 10 has housing 11, multiple magnetic disks 12, spindle motor 13, head suspension assembly (HSA) 14, voice coil motor (VCM) 15, ramp loading mechanism 16, and printed circuit board (PCB) 17. Magnetic disk 12 can also be called disk, medium or platter.
[0031] The housing 11 includes a base 21, an inner cover 22, and an outer cover 23. The housing 11 is not limited to this example. The base 21, the inner cover 22, and the outer cover 23 are each made of a metal material such as an aluminum alloy. The materials of the base 21, the inner cover 22, and the outer cover 23 may also be different from each other.
[0032] The base 21 is formed in a substantially rectangular box shape with one direction open, and accommodates the plurality of magnetic disks 12 , the spindle motor 13 , the HSA 14 , the VCM 15 , and the ramp loading mechanism 16 .
[0033] The base 21 has a bottom wall 25 and a side wall 26. The bottom wall 25 is formed in a substantially rectangular (quadrilateral) plate shape. The side wall 26 protrudes from the edge of the bottom wall 25 and is formed in a substantially rectangular frame shape.
[0034] The inner cover 22 is mounted to the end of the side wall 26 by, for example, screws, and blocks the base 21. The outer cover 23 covers the inner cover 22 and is mounted to the end of the side wall 26 by, for example, welding.
[0035] The inner cover 22 is provided with a vent 27. Furthermore, the outer cover 23 is provided with a vent 28. Components are installed inside the base 21. After the inner cover 22 and the outer cover 23 are installed on the base 21, the air inside the housing 11 is extracted from the vents 27 and 28. Then, the housing 11 is filled with a gas different from air.
[0036] The gas filled into the shell 11 is, for example, a low-density gas having a lower density than air, an inert gas with low reactivity, etc. For example, helium is filled into the shell 11. In addition, other fluids may be filled into the shell 11. In addition, the inside of the shell 11 may also be maintained at a vacuum, a low pressure close to a vacuum, or a negative pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure.
[0037] The vent 28 of the cover 23 is blocked by a seal 29. The seal 29 seals the vent 28 airtightly, and prevents the fluid filled in the housing 11 from leaking from the vent 28 to the outside of the housing 11.
[0038] The plurality of magnetic disks 12 are formed in a disk shape and arranged substantially parallel to the bottom wall. The plurality of magnetic disks 12 are arranged at intervals. The HDD 10 of the present embodiment has, for example, ten or more magnetic disks 12. The number of magnetic disks 12 is not limited to this example.
[0039] The spindle motor 13 supports the plurality of magnetic disks 12. The plurality of magnetic disks 12 are held by bosses of the spindle motor 13, for example, by circlips. The spindle motor 13 rotates the plurality of magnetic disks 12.
[0040] The housing 11 is provided with a support shaft 31 separated from the magnetic disk 12. The support shaft 31 extends from, for example, the bottom wall 25 of the housing 11. The HSA 14 is rotatably supported by the support shaft 31.
[0041] The HSA 14 includes a carriage 35 , a plurality of head gimbal assemblies (HGA) 36 , and a flexible printed circuit (FPC) 37 . The FPC is an example of a substrate. The carriage 35 includes an actuator block 41 and a plurality of arms 42 .
[0042] The actuator block 41 and the plurality of arms 42 are integrally formed of, for example, an aluminum alloy. In addition, the materials of the actuator block 41 and the arms 42 are not limited to this example.
[0043] The actuator block 41 is supported by the support shaft 31 via, for example, a bearing so as to be rotatable around the support shaft 31. A plurality of arms 42 protrude from the actuator block 41 in substantially parallel fashion.
[0044] The arms 42 are arranged at intervals. Each of the arms 42 can enter a gap between two adjacent magnetic disks 12 among the magnetic disks 12 .
[0045] The VCM 15 includes a voice coil attached to the carriage 35 , a pair of yokes, and a magnet attached to the yokes. The VCM 15 rotates the carriage 35 around the support shaft 31 .
[0046] Each of the plurality of HGAs 36 includes a base plate 45, a load beam 46, a flexure 47, and a magnetic head 48. The base plate 45 is attached to the front end of the arm 42. The load beam 46 is formed thinner than the base plate 45 and extends from the base plate 45.
[0047] The flexible member 47 is formed in a long and narrow strip shape. The shape of the flexible member 47 is not limited to this example. The flexible member 47 is an FPC having a metal plate (lining layer) such as stainless steel, an insulating layer (base layer) formed on the metal plate, a conductive layer formed on the insulating layer to form a plurality of wirings (wiring patterns), and an insulating layer (cover layer) covering the conductive layer.
[0048] A gimbal portion (elastic support portion) that is located on the load beam 46 and can be displaced is provided at one end of the flexure 47. The magnetic head 48 is mounted on the gimbal portion of the flexure 47. The magnetic head 48 records and reproduces information on the recording layer of the magnetic disk 12. In other words, the magnetic head 48 reads and writes information on the magnetic disk 12.
[0049] The VCM 15 rotates the carriage 35 to place the magnetic head 48 at a desired position on the magnetic disk 12. When the magnetic head 48 moves to the outermost periphery of the magnetic disk 12, the ramp load mechanism 16 holds the magnetic head 48 at an unload position separated from the magnetic disk 12.
[0050] The FPC 37 is connected to the other end of the flexure 47. For example, a plurality of flexures 47 are connected to the FPC 37. Thus, the FPC 37 is electrically connected to the plurality of magnetic heads 48 via the wirings of the plurality of flexures 47.
[0051] The PCB 17 is a rigid substrate such as a glass epoxy substrate, and is a multi-layer substrate or a build-up substrate. The PCB 17 is disposed outside the housing 11 and mounted on the bottom wall 25 of the base 21. The PCB 17 is mounted on the bottom wall 25, for example, by a plurality of screws.
[0052] The HDD 10 further includes, for example, an interface (I / F) connector 51, a controller 52, and a relay connector 53. The I / F connector 51, the controller 52, and the relay connector 53 are mounted on the PCB 17. In addition, other components may be mounted on the PCB 17.
[0053] The I / F connector 51 is a connector conforming to an interface standard such as Serial ATA (SATA), and is connected to an I / F connector of a host computer. The controller 52 is, for example, a system on chip (SoC), and has a read / write channel (RWC), a hard disk controller (HDC), and a processor.
[0054] The PCB 17 is electrically connected to various components disposed inside the housing 11 through the relay connector 53. For example, the PCB 17 is electrically connected to the spindle motor 13, the VCM 15, the FPC 37, and the magnetic head 48.
[0055] Figure 2 FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view showing an exemplary FPC 37 according to the first embodiment. Figure 2 As shown in FIG. 1 , the FPC 37 is formed into a substantially L-shaped strip in a natural state when it is removed from other components and no external force is applied. The shape of the FPC 37 is not limited to this example. The FPC 37 includes a first connection portion 61 , a second connection portion 62 , and an intermediate portion 63 .
[0056] The first connection portion 61 is provided, for example, at one end portion of the FPC 37 in the direction in which the FPC 37 extends. The first connection portion 61 is attached to the actuator block 41 by, for example, screws. The first connection portion 61 is electrically connected to the flexure 47 .
[0057] The second connection portion 62 is provided, for example, at the other end of the FPC 37 in the direction in which the FPC 37 extends. The second connection portion 62 is attached to the bottom wall 25, for example, by screws. The second connection portion 62 is electrically connected to the relay connector 53 on the PCB 17, for example.
[0058] The intermediate portion 63 is provided between the first connection portion 61 and the second connection portion 62. The intermediate portion 63 extends in a belt shape, and is bent between the first connection portion 61 and the second connection portion 62 in accordance with the rotation of the actuator block 41.
[0059] As shown in the figures, in this specification, the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis are defined for convenience. The X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis are orthogonal to each other. The X-axis is set along the width of the middle part 63 in the natural state. The Y-axis is set along the length of the middle part 63 in the natural state. The Z-axis is set along the thickness of the FPC 18 in the natural state.
[0060] Furthermore, in this specification, the X direction, the Y direction, and the Z direction are defined. The X direction is a direction along the X axis, including the +X direction indicated by the arrow of the X axis, and the -X direction which is the opposite direction of the arrow of the X axis. The Y direction is a direction along the Y axis, including the +Y direction indicated by the arrow of the Y axis, and the -Y direction which is the opposite direction of the arrow of the Y axis. The Z direction is a direction along the Z axis, including the +Z direction indicated by the arrow of the Z axis, and the -Z direction which is the opposite direction of the arrow of the Z axis.
[0061] The first connection portion 61 is connected to the end of the middle portion 63 in the +Y direction and extends from the end toward the +Y direction. The second connection portion 62 is connected to the end of the middle portion 63 in the -Y direction and extends from the end toward the +X direction. The first connection portion 61 and the second connection portion 62 are not limited to this example.
[0062] The HDD 10 further includes a plurality of preamplifiers 65 , a relay connector 66 , and a plurality of reinforcing plates 67 . The relay connector 66 is an example of a connector. The preamplifier 65 and the relay connector 66 are mounted on the FPC 37 .
[0063] The preamplifier 65 is mounted on the first connection portion 61. The preamplifier 65 is electrically connected to the flexure 47 via, for example, wiring and pads of the FPC 37. The preamplifier 65 amplifies a write signal and sends it to the magnetic head 48, and amplifies a read signal received from the magnetic head 48.
[0064] Figure 3 It is an exemplary perspective view showing the relay connector 66 according to the first embodiment. Figure 4 It is an exemplary plan view showing the FPC 37 and the relay connector 66 according to the first embodiment. Figure 5 It is along Figure 4 The F5-F5 line of FIG. 1 shows an exemplary cross-sectional view of the FPC 37 and the relay connector 66 of the first embodiment. Figure 5 As shown, the relay connector 66 is mounted on the second connection portion 62 .
[0065] The HDD 10 further includes a relay substrate 71 and a relay connector 72. The relay connector 72 is an example of a corresponding connector. The relay substrate 71 is mounted on the bottom wall 25, for example, so as to airtightly close a hole provided in the bottom wall 25. The relay connector 72 is mounted on the relay substrate 71 and is located inside the housing 11. The relay connector 72 includes a plurality of wires 75.
[0066] The relay connector 72 on the relay substrate 71 is connected to the relay connector 66 on the FPC 37. Furthermore, other relay connectors located outside the housing 11 are mounted on the relay substrate 71 and connected to the relay connector 53 on the PCB 17. Thus, the relay connector 66 on the FPC 37 is electrically connected to the relay connector 53 on the PCB 17. In addition, the relay connector 66 on the FPC 37 and the relay connector 53 on the PCB 17 may also be directly connected to each other.
[0067] The reinforcing plate 67 is made of metal such as aluminum or synthetic resin, and is formed into a plate shape. In addition, the reinforcing plate 67 is not limited to this example. Figure 2 As shown, a plurality of reinforcing plates 67 are attached to the first connecting portion 61 and the second connecting portion 62 .
[0068] The rigidity of the reinforcing plate 67 is higher than the rigidity of the FPC 37. Therefore, the reinforcing plate 67 improves the rigidity of the first connecting portion 61 and the second connecting portion 62. The intermediate portion 63 is not attached to the reinforcing plate 67 and is flexible.
[0069] like Figure 5 As shown, the FPC 37 has a mounting surface 81, a back surface 82, and a plurality of pads 83. The pads 83 can also be called connection pads or electrodes. The mounting surface 81 is one surface of the FPC 37, facing approximately in the +Z direction. The back surface 82 is located on the opposite side of the mounting surface 81 and is mounted on the reinforcing plate 67.
[0070] A plurality of pads 83 are provided on the mounting surface 81. The mounting surface 81 is formed, for example, by a portion of a conductive layer forming the plurality of pads 83 and an insulating cover layer partially covering the conductive layer. In addition, the mounting surface 81 is not limited to this example. Figure 4 As shown, the plurality of pads 83 are arranged in two rows in the Y direction, for example.
[0071] At least one of the plurality of pads 83 is electrically connected to the preamplifier 65 via wiring of the conductive layer. The pads 83 are not limited to this example. For example, at least one of the plurality of pads 83 may be electrically connected to the VCM 15 or the ground plane.
[0072] like Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , a hole 85 is provided on the FPC 37. The hole 85 is located between the plurality of pads 83 forming one row and the plurality of pads 83 forming another row in the X direction. The hole 85 passes through the FPC 37 and opens on the mounting surface 81 and the back surface 82. A hole 86 is also provided on the reinforcing plate 67. The hole 86 passes through the reinforcing plate 67 and communicates with the hole 85 of the FPC 37.
[0073] like Figure 4As shown, the relay connector 66 includes a housing 91, a plurality of conductive wires 92 and 93, and two reinforcing members 94. The conductive wires 92 and 93 can also be called terminals. The plurality of conductive wires 92 is an example of a plurality of first conductive wires. The plurality of conductive wires 93 is an example of a plurality of second conductive wires. The reinforcing member 94 is an example of a metal member.
[0074] The housing 91 is made of, for example, synthetic resin. The housing 91 is formed into a substantially rectangular parallelepiped extending in the Y direction. That is, the Y direction is the longitudinal direction of the housing 91. In addition, the shape of the housing 91 is not limited to this example. The housing 91 has Figure 5 The lower surface 101, the upper surface 102, the two side surfaces 103, and Figure 4 Two end faces 104 are shown.
[0075] The lower surface 101 , the upper surface 102 , and the two side surfaces 103 are each formed in a substantially rectangular shape extending along the longitudinal direction, that is, the direction Y. The shapes of the lower surface 101 , the upper surface 102 , and the side surfaces 103 are not limited to this example.
[0076] like Figure 5 As shown, the lower surface 101 is formed substantially flat and faces substantially in the -Z direction. In addition, the lower surface 101 may also be provided with depressions and projections. The lower surface 101 of the housing 91 and the mounting surface 81 of the FPC 37 face each other with a gap therebetween. Therefore, the housing 91 is separated from the FPC 37. In addition, the housing 91 may also contact the FPC 37. The lower surface 101 faces the hole 85 of the FPC 37.
[0077] The upper surface 102 is located on the opposite side of the lower surface 101. The upper surface 102 is formed substantially flat and faces substantially in the +Z direction. The two side surfaces 103 are provided at both ends of the housing 91 in the X direction and are formed substantially flat. Figure 4 As shown, two end surfaces 104 are provided at both ends of the housing 91 in the Y direction and are formed substantially flat.
[0078] The housing 91 is provided with two recesses 105, 106, a plurality of insertion holes 107, and a plurality of fixing holes 108. The two recesses 105, 106 are adjacent to each other in the X direction and open on the upper surface 102. The two recesses 105, 106 extend in the Y direction respectively. The two recesses 105, 106 may be separated from each other or may be connected to each other.
[0079] The housing 91 further has two bottom surfaces 109. One of the two bottom surfaces 109 is provided at the end of the recess 105 in the -Z direction. The other of the two bottom surfaces 109 is provided at the end of the recess 106 in the -Z direction. The two bottom surfaces 109 are formed substantially flat and face substantially in the +Z direction.
[0080] The plurality of insertion holes 107 penetrate the housing 91 substantially in the Z direction so as to open on the lower surface 101 and the bottom surface 109. Half of the plurality of insertion holes 107 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction and communicate with the recess 105. The other half of the plurality of insertion holes 107 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction and communicate with the recess 106. That is, the plurality of insertion holes 107 are arranged in two rows in the Y direction.
[0081] The plurality of fixing holes 108 penetrate the housing 91 substantially along the Z direction in a manner of opening on the lower surface 101 and the upper surface 102. The plurality of fixing holes 108 are arranged in two rows in the Y direction. The two recesses 105 and 106 are located between the plurality of fixing holes 108 forming one row and the plurality of fixing holes 108 forming another row in the X direction.
[0082] The cross-section of each of the plurality of insertion holes 107 and the plurality of fixing holes 108 is smaller than the cross-section of the recesses 105 and 106. In the present embodiment, the cross-section of each of the insertion holes 107 and the fixing holes 108 is formed into a square or a perfect circle. In addition, the cross-section of each of the insertion holes 107 and the fixing holes 108 is not limited to this example.
[0083] The plurality of conductive wires 92, 93 and the two reinforcing members 94 are made of metal. In addition, the conductive wires 92, 93 and the reinforcing member 94 may be made of different materials. The plurality of conductive wires 92 and the plurality of conductive wires 93 are adjacent to each other in the X direction and are formed in mirror symmetry with each other.
[0084] In the first embodiment, the two reinforcing members 94 each include two reinforcing pins 111 and 112. The two reinforcing pins 111 and 112 are adjacent to each other in the X direction and are formed in mirror symmetry with each other.
[0085] like Figure 3 As shown, the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 each have two wire-shaped members 115. The wire-shaped member 115 of the reinforcing pin 111 is referred to as a wire-shaped member 115A. Furthermore, the wire-shaped member 115 of the reinforcing pin 112 is referred to as a wire-shaped member 115B.
[0086] The wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 are examples of wires. The wire-shaped component 115A is an example of a wire-shaped component and a first wire-shaped component. The wire-shaped component 115B is an example of a second wire-shaped component. The wire-shaped components 115, 115A, and 115B can also be called dummy wires, ground wires, non-transmission wires, or metal pieces.
[0087] The wire-shaped member 115A and the wire 92 have the same shape. The wire-shaped member 115B and the wire 93 have the same shape. The wire-shaped member 115A and the wire-shaped member 115B are adjacent to each other in the X direction and are formed in mirror symmetry with each other.
[0088] Below, refer to Figure 4 as well as Figure 5 The wires 92 and 93 and the wire-shaped member 115 will be described. Figure 5 The wire-shaped component 115 is shown. However, the wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 have the same shape or mirror-symmetric shapes. Therefore, the wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 can be Figure 5 This will be understood together with the following description of the wire-shaped component 115 .
[0089] like Figure 5 As shown, the plurality of wires 92, 93 and the plurality of wire-shaped components 115 each have an outer pin 121, an inner pin 122 and a press-in pin 123. Therefore, the reinforcing pins 111, 112 each have two outer pins 121, two inner pins 122 and two press-in pins 123. In addition, the number of the outer pins 121, the inner pins 122 and the press-in pins 123 of the reinforcing pins 111, 112 may be three or more.
[0090] The external pin 121 of the lead wire 92 is an example of a first external terminal and an external terminal. The external pin 121 of the lead wire 93 is an example of a second external terminal and an external terminal. The internal pin 122 of the lead wire 92 is an example of a first internal terminal. The internal pin 122 of the lead wire 93 is an example of a second internal terminal.
[0091] The outer pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115A is an example of a first connecting terminal. The outer pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115B is an example of a second connecting terminal. The inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115A is an example of a first terminal-shaped portion. The inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115B is an example of a second terminal-shaped portion.
[0092] The external pin 121 is located outside the housing 91. Specifically, the external pin 121 is located outside the recesses 105, 106 and the insertion hole 107, and is at least partially located between the housing 91 and the FPC 37. Therefore, the lower surface 101 of the housing 91 faces the external pin 121. In addition, a part of the external pin 121 may be located inside the housing 91.
[0093] The outer pin 121 has a base portion 125, a joint portion 126, and an inclined portion 127. The entire base portion 125 is located between the housing 91 and the FPC 37. In addition, the base portion 125 is not limited to this example.
[0094] The base 125 includes a first connection portion 125a, a second connection portion 125b, and an intermediate portion 125c. The first connection portion 125a and the second connection portion 125b extend substantially in the X direction. That is, the first connection portion 125a and the second connection portion 125b extend along the lower surface 101 of the housing 91.
[0095] The first connection portion 125a is closer to the insertion hole 107 than the second connection portion 125b. The second connection portion 125b is closer to the fixing hole 108 than the first connection portion 125a. Furthermore, the first connection portion 125a is farther from the lower surface 101 of the housing 91 than the second connection portion 125b. That is, the first connection portion 125a and the second connection portion 125b extend substantially parallel to each other. The intermediate portion 125c extends obliquely relative to the first connection portion 125a and the second connection portion 125b between one end of the first connection portion 125a and one end of the second connection portion 125b.
[0096] The joint portion 126 is farther from the housing 91 than the second connection portion 125b of the base portion 125. Specifically, the joint portion 126 is farther from the center of the housing 91 than the second connection portion 125b in the X direction. Furthermore, the joint portion 126 is farther from the housing 91 than the first connection portion 125a in the Z direction. The joint portion 126 is located at the end of the relay connector 66 in the -Z direction.
[0097] The joint portion 126 extends substantially in the X direction. Therefore, the joint portion 126 extends substantially parallel to the first connection portion 125a and the second connection portion 125b of the base portion 125. The inclined portion 127 is provided between the other end of the second connection portion 125b and one end of the joint portion 126, and extends obliquely relative to the second connection portion 125b and the joint portion 126.
[0098] like Figure 4 In this way, in the direction perpendicular to the upper surface 102 (in Figure 4 In the projection diagram observed from the direction (-Z direction in the figure), the external pin 121 extends across the side surface 103. For example, in the projection diagram observed from the direction orthogonal to the upper surface 102, the engaging portion 126 is separated from the housing 91.
[0099] like Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , the inner pin 122 protrudes from the other end of the first connection portion 125a substantially in the +Z direction. In other words, the inner pin 122 and the first connection portion 125a are connected to each other.
[0100] like Figure 4As shown, the plurality of wires 92 and the inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115A are accommodated in the recess 105 and the plurality of insertion holes 107. The plurality of wires 93 and the inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115B are accommodated in the recess 106 and the plurality of insertion holes 107. That is, the inner pin 122 is located inside the housing 91. The inner pin 122 passes through the insertion hole 107.
[0101] like Figure 5 As shown, the press-in pin 123 protrudes from the second connection portion 125b in the substantially +Z direction. That is, the press-in pin 123 protrudes from the base 125 at a position away from the inner pin 122. The inner pin 122 and the press-in pin 123 protrude from the base 125 substantially in parallel.
[0102] The press-fit pin 123 is press-fitted into the fixing hole 108. Thus, the lead wires 92, 93 and the reinforcing member 94 are attached to the housing 91. The lead wires 92, 93 and the reinforcing member 94 may be attached to the housing 91 by other methods.
[0103] The wires 92 and the press-fit pins 123 of the wire-shaped component 115A are press-fitted into the fixing holes 108 forming a row so that the plurality of wires 92 and the two reinforcing members 94 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. Thus, the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92 and the external pins 121 of the wire-shaped component 115A are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. The Y direction is an example of a first direction.
[0104] The wires 93 and the press-fit pins 123 of the wire-shaped component 115B are press-fitted into the fixing holes 108 forming another row, so that the plurality of wires 93 and the two reinforcing members 94 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. Thus, the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 93 and the external pins 121 of the wire-shaped component 115B are arranged at intervals in the Y direction.
[0105] like Figure 4 As shown, the plurality of wires 93 are separated from the plurality of wires 92 in the -X direction. The -X direction is an example of the second direction. In the present embodiment, the plurality of wires 93 are respectively arranged at substantially the same position as a corresponding one of the plurality of wires 92 in the Y direction.
[0106] The reinforcing pin 112 is separated from the reinforcing pin 111 in the -X direction. In the present embodiment, the plurality of wire-shaped components 115B are respectively arranged at substantially the same position as a corresponding one of the plurality of wire-shaped components 115A in the Y direction. The wires 92, 93 and the outer pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 are arranged in two rows in the Y direction.
[0107] The plurality of wires 92 are located between the reinforcing pins 111 of the two reinforcing members 94. Therefore, one of the two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 is located at the end of the row formed by the outer pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92 and the outer pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94.
[0108] The plurality of conductive wires 93 are located between the reinforcing pins 112 of the two reinforcing members 94. Therefore, one of the two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112 is located at the end of the row formed by the outer pins 121 of the plurality of conductive wires 93 and the outer pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94. That is, the outer pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 are arranged at the four corners of the reinforcing pins 111 arranged in two rows. The positions of the conductive wires 92, 93 and the reinforcing member 94 are not limited to the above example.
[0109] like Figure 5 As shown, the external pins 121 are bonded to the plurality of pads 83, for example, by solder S. Thus, the relay connector 66 is mounted on the FPC 37. The external pins 121 of the wires 92 and 93 are electrically connected to, for example, the preamplifier 65 via the wiring of the FPC 37.
[0110] Figure 6 1 is an illustrative perspective view showing the reinforcing pin 111 of the first embodiment. Figure 6 As shown, in each of the reinforcing pins 111 and 112, two wire-shaped parts 115 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. Therefore, in each of the reinforcing pins 111 and 112, the outer pins 121 of the two wire-shaped parts 115 are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. The outer pins 121 of the two wire-shaped parts 115 have a common shape or a mirror-symmetrical shape.
[0111] Each of the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 further includes a connecting portion 131. The connecting portion 131 of the reinforcing pin 111 is an example of a first connecting portion and a connecting portion. The connecting portion 131 of the reinforcing pin 112 is an example of a fourth connecting portion.
[0112] In each of the reinforcing pins 111 and 112, the connecting portion 131 connects the two outer pins 121 to each other. In other words, the connecting portion 131 connects the two adjacent wire-shaped members 115 to each other.
[0113] In this embodiment, the connection portion 131 is connected to the outer pin 121 at a position where the inner pin 122 and the first connection portion 125a are connected to each other. The connection portion 131 extends along the Y direction between the two outer pins 121. The position of the connection portion 131 is not limited to this example.
[0114] A slit 135 is provided between the outer pins 121 of the two wire-shaped members 115. The slit 135 of the reinforcing pin 111 is an example of a first opening. The slit 135 of the reinforcing pin 112 is an example of a second opening.
[0115] The slit 135 is a gap between two outer pins 121 arranged in the Y direction. The slit 135 may communicate with a gap between two inner pins 122 arranged in the Y direction, or may communicate with a gap between two press-fit pins 123 arranged in the Y direction.
[0116] The distance between the external pins 121 of the two wire-shaped components 115A is shorter than or equal to the distance between the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92. The distance between the external pins 121 of the two wire-shaped components 115B is shorter than or equal to the distance between the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 93. Therefore, the width of the slit 135 is less than the width of the interval between the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92, 93.
[0117] like Figure 3 as well as Figure 6 As shown, the external pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115A and the external pin 121 of the wire 92 have the same shape. The external pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115B and the external pin 121 of the wire 93 have the same shape. The external pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115A and the external pin 121 of the wire-shaped component 115B have the same shape or a mirror-symmetrical shape.
[0118] The inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115A and the inner pin 122 of the wire 92 have the same shape. The inner pin 122 of the wire-shaped component 115B and the inner pin 122 of the wire 93 have the same shape.
[0119] The conductive wires 92 and 93 and the conductive wire-shaped member 115 may not be completely identical as long as they have the same shape. For example, the conductive wires 92 and 93 and the conductive wire-shaped member 115 may differ because the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 have the connecting portion 131 .
[0120] like Figure 4 As shown in FIG. 1 , the plurality of pads 83 include a plurality of pads 83A and four pads 83B. The pad 83A is an example of a first pad, and the pad 83B is an example of a second pad.
[0121] Half of the plurality of pads 83A are located between two of the four pads 83B and are arranged at intervals in the Y direction. The other half of the plurality of pads 83A are located between the other two of the four pads 83B and are arranged at intervals in the Y direction.
[0122] The external pins 121 of the wires 92 and 93 are bonded to the pads 83A by solder S. The external pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 are bonded to the pads 83B by solder S. The two external pins 121 included in the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 are bonded to the pads 83B. In other words, the two external pins 121 separated from each other are bonded to the pads 83B. The size of each pad 83B is larger than the size of each pad 83A.
[0123] The plurality of pads 83A are used, for example, for signal transmission between the controller 52 and the preamplifier 65. For example, at least one of the plurality of pads 83A is connected via wiring to a signal terminal or a power terminal of the preamplifier 65. At least one of the plurality of pads 83A may also be electrically connected to the ground.
[0124] The four pads 83B are electrically connected to the ground, for example. In other words, the pads 83B are set to the ground potential. In addition, the pads 83B are not limited to this example, and may be, for example, floating parts independent of other wirings. For example, by making the pads 83B floating parts, the flexibility of the wiring design near the relay connector 66 is improved.
[0125] like Figure 5 As shown, when the relay connectors 66 and 72 are connected to each other, the wires 92 and 93 and the inner pin 122 of the reinforcing member 94 contact with the wire 75 of the relay connector 72. Thus, the inner pin 122 and the wire 75 are electrically connected to each other.
[0126] The lead wire 75 electrically connected to the inner pin 122 of the reinforcing member 94 is electrically connected to the ground and is set to a ground potential. The lead wire 75 electrically connected to the reinforcing member 94 is an example of a ground terminal.
[0127] The relay connector 72 may not include the lead wire 75 electrically connected to the reinforcing member 94 . In this case, the inner pin 122 of the reinforcing member 94 may not be accommodated in the recessed portions 105 and 106 but may be covered by the housing 91 .
[0128] The following is a part of the method for mounting the relay connector 66 on the FPC 37. The method for mounting the relay connector 66 on the FPC 37 is not limited to the following method, and other methods may be used. First, solder paste (solder S) is supplied to the pad 83, for example, by printing or coating. Then, the relay connector 66 is mounted on the pad 83.
[0129] Next, the FPC 37 is heated in a reflow furnace to melt the solder paste, thereby bonding the joint portion 126 of the relay connector 66 to the pad 83. At this time, the flux mixed in the solder S or supplied separately may flow out of the solder S.
[0130] The solder paste is attached to the joint portion 126 of the outer pin 121. When the solder paste melts, the solder S and the flux spread along the outer pin 121. For example, the flux may spread from the joint portion 126 along the inclined portion 127 toward the base portion 125.
[0131] In the reinforcing member 94, a slit 135 is provided between the two outer pins 121. The flux flows into the slit 135. The flux adheres to the two outer pins 121 in the slit 135, and stays in the slit 135 by, for example, surface tension. That is, the reinforcing member 94 can suppress further diffusion of the flux by making the flux stay in the slit 135.
[0132] Next, the FPC 37 and the relay connector 66 are cleaned by, for example, ultrasonic cleaning. For example, the FPC 37 is placed in a tank filled with a cleaning liquid. The cleaning liquid, for example, flows into the gap between the FPC 37 and the housing 91 and flows out from the holes 85 and 86. In addition, the cleaning liquid passes through the slit 135. The cleaning liquid removes substances such as flux that may contaminate the HDD 10. When the ultrasonic cleaning is completed, the FPC 37 is removed from the cleaning liquid.
[0133] For example, the cleaning liquid transmits ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic waves cause the flux to float. After that, the cleaning liquid and the flux are discharged as described above. In the above, the installation of the relay connector 66 to the FPC 37 is completed.
[0134] The following is a partial example of a method for manufacturing the reinforcing pins 111 and 112. In addition, the method for manufacturing the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 is not limited to the following method, and other methods may also be used. Figure 6 As shown by the double-dashed line in FIG. 1 , the two wire-shaped components 115 are arranged mirror-symmetrically in the Z direction, for example, by die casting. At this time, the connecting portion 131 extends substantially along the Z direction between the two wire-shaped components 115 to connect the two wire-shaped components 115 manufactured by die casting to each other.
[0135] Then, if Figure 6 As shown by the arrow, the portion where the wire-shaped component 115 on one side is connected to the connecting portion 131 indicated by the double-dashed line is bent, and further, the portion where the wire-shaped component 115 on the other side is connected to the connecting portion 131 indicated by the solid line is bent. Figure 6 As shown by the solid line in FIG. 1 , two reinforcing pins 111 and 112 are manufactured in which two wire-shaped members 115 are arranged in the Y direction.
[0136] The wires 92 and 93 and the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 can be manufactured by the same mold. For example, two wire-shaped components 115 manufactured by die casting are cut from the connecting portion 131. Each wire-shaped component 115 cut from the connecting portion 131 becomes the wires 92 and 93. The connecting portion 131 becomes, for example, a runner for manufacturing the wires 92 and 93 by die casting.
[0137] In the HDD 10 of the first embodiment described above, the plurality of wires 92 each have an external pin 121 located outside the housing 91. The plurality of wires 92 are attached to the housing 91 and arranged in the Y direction. The reinforcing member 94 has two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 located outside the housing 91 and arranged in the Y direction, and is attached to the housing 91. The external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92 and the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 are arranged in the Y direction. A slit 135 is provided between the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111. The wires 92 and the external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 are arranged together in the Y direction, and can be bonded to the pad 83 of the FPC 37 by, for example, solder S. In general, flux mixed in the solder S or added separately may climb up the external pins 121 toward the housing 91. However, by providing the slit 135 between the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111, the flux is retained in the slit 135 by, for example, surface tension. That is, the reinforcing member 94 can prevent the flux from penetrating into the housing 91 along the reinforcing member 94. Since the flux stays outside the housing 91, it is easy to remove it by cleaning. Therefore, the relay connector 66 of this embodiment can prevent the inside of the relay connector 66 from being contaminated by substances such as residual flux. In addition, the relay connector 66 of this embodiment can be more firmly mounted on the FPC 37 by joining not only the wire 92 to the pad 83 but also the reinforcing member 94 to the pad 83.
[0138] The reinforcing member 94 has a connecting portion 131 that connects the two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111. Thus, the reinforcing member 94 can improve strength. In addition, the reinforcing member 94 can increase the surface area to which the solder S adheres, so it can be more firmly attached to the FPC 37.
[0139] The two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 have a common shape or a mirror-symmetrical shape. Therefore, for example, the reinforcing pin 111 can be manufactured by bending the two common or mirror-symmetrical outer pins 121 relative to the connecting portion 131. Therefore, the reinforcing member 94 can be easily manufactured.
[0140] The reinforcing pin 111 has two wire-shaped parts 115A each having one of the two external pins 121. The plurality of wires 92 and the two wire-shaped parts 115A have a common shape. Thus, for example, the reinforcing pin 111 can be formed by a mold common to the wires 92, and thus can be easily manufactured. In addition, the reinforcing pin 111 can be mounted on the housing 91 by the same method as the wires 92, and thus can be easily mounted on the housing 91.
[0141] The plurality of wires 93 each have an external pin 121 located outside the housing 91. The plurality of wires 93 are mounted on the housing 91, arranged in the Y direction, and separated from the plurality of wires 92 in the -X direction intersecting the Y direction. The reinforcing pin 112 of the reinforcing member 94 has two external pins 121 and a connecting portion 131. The two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112 are located outside the housing 91 and arranged in the Y direction. The connecting portion 131 of the reinforcing pin 112 connects the two external pins 121 to each other. The external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 93 and the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112 are arranged in the Y direction. A slit 135 is provided between the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112. The plurality of wires 93 and the external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112 are arranged together in the Y direction, and can be joined to the pad 83 of the FPC 37 by solder S, for example. By providing the slit 135 between the two outer pins 121, for example, the flux can be retained in the slit 135 by utilizing surface tension. That is, the reinforcing member 94 can prevent the flux from penetrating into the interior of the housing 91 along the reinforcing pin 112. Therefore, the relay connector 66 of the present embodiment can prevent the interior of the relay connector 66 from being contaminated by substances such as residual flux. Furthermore, the reinforcing member 94 can increase the strength and can be more firmly mounted on the FPC 37.
[0142] The two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 and the two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 112 have the same shape or a mirror-symmetrical shape. Thus, the reinforcing pin 111 having two outer pins 121 and the connecting portion 131 and the reinforcing pin 112 having two outer pins 121 and the connecting portion 131 can be designed to have the same shape. Therefore, the reinforcing member 94 can be easily manufactured and can be easily mounted on the housing 91.
[0143] The distance between the two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 is shorter than or equal to the distance between the plurality of conductive wires 92. Thus, the relay connector 66 of the present embodiment can suppress the slit 135 from widening, and can allow the flux to stay in the slit 135 more reliably.
[0144] One of the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 is located at the end of the row formed by the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92 and the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 111. For example, the relay connector 66 is sometimes arranged to be offset from a desired position in a direction rotating around the center of the relay connector 66. In this case, when the relay connector 66 is connected to the relay connector 72, a force in a direction rotating around the center is sometimes applied to the relay connector 66. Compared with the case where the external pin 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 is located in the center of the row, it is separated from the center of the relay connector 66. Therefore, the external pin 121 of the reinforcing pin 111 is capable of more effectively increasing the force for coupling the relay connector 66 to the FPC 37 relative to the force rotating around the center of the relay connector 66.
[0145] The FPC 37 has a plurality of pads 83A to which the external pins 121 of the plurality of wires 92 are bonded, and a single pad 83B to which the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 are bonded. That is, the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 are bonded to a common single pad 83B. Thus, the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94 can be easily mounted on the FPC 37. In addition, since the solder S is located between the two external pins 121 of the reinforcing member 94, the slit 135 can easily allow the flux to stay.
[0146] The pad 83B is set to the ground potential. Therefore, for example, even if a current flows in the reinforcing member 94 due to the reinforcing member 94 receiving electromagnetic waves, the current is absorbed by the ground. Therefore, the reinforcing member 94 can suppress the influence of the surrounding transmission characteristics such as crosstalk.
[0147] The relay connector 72 has a conductor 75 which is electrically connected to the reinforcing member 94 and is set to a ground potential. Thus, the potential of the reinforcing member 94 becomes the ground potential. For example, even if a current flows in the reinforcing member 94 due to the reinforcing member 94 receiving electromagnetic waves, the current is absorbed by the ground. Therefore, the reinforcing member 94 can suppress the influence on the surrounding transmission characteristics such as crosstalk.
[0148] The wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 each have an external pin 121 located outside the housing 91. The wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 are mounted on the housing 91, arranged in two rows in the Y direction, and have a common shape. The connecting portion 131 connects two adjacent wire-shaped components 115 of the wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 to each other. The wires 92, 93 and the wire-shaped component 115 can be bonded to the pad 83 of the FPC 37 by solder S, for example. The flux stays in the slit 135 between the two wire-shaped components 115, for example, by surface tension. That is, the wire-shaped component 115 can prevent the flux from penetrating into the housing 91 along the wire-shaped component 115. Therefore, the relay connector 66 of the present embodiment can prevent the interior of the relay connector 66 from being contaminated by substances such as residual flux. Furthermore, the two wire-shaped members 115 are connected by the connection portion 131 , whereby the strength can be improved and the wire-shaped members 115 can be more firmly attached to the FPC 37 .
[0149] (Second embodiment)
[0150] Below, refer to Figure 7 The second embodiment is described. In the following description of the embodiments, components having the same functions as components already described are sometimes marked with the same symbols as the components already described, and further description is omitted. In addition, multiple components marked with the same symbols are not limited to having all the same functions and properties, and may also have different functions and properties corresponding to each embodiment.
[0151] Figure 7 2 is an illustrative perspective view showing a reinforcement pin 201 according to the second embodiment. Figure 7 The reinforcement pins indicated by two-dot chain lines in the following drawings are similar to the reinforcement pins 111 and 112 of the first embodiment, and show that the reinforcement pins can be manufactured by bending the portion where the wire-shaped member 115 and the connecting portion are connected.
[0152] like Figure 7 As shown in FIG. 1 , the reinforcement member 94 of the second embodiment includes a reinforcement pin 201 instead of the reinforcement pins 111 and 112. The reinforcement pin 201 is substantially the same as the reinforcement pins 111 and 112 except for the following points.
[0153] The reinforcing pin 201 has a connecting portion 211 instead of the connecting portion 131. The connecting portion 211 is an example of a first connecting portion and a fourth connecting portion. The connecting portion 211 connects the two outer pins 121 to each other.
[0154] The connection portion 211 is connected to the external pin 121 at the end of the joint portion 126 separated from the inclined portion 127. In other words, the connection portion 211 connects the ends of the two external pins 121 in the X direction to each other. The connection portion 211 extends along the Y direction between the two external pins 121. The connection portion 211 is separated from the housing 91.
[0155] In the HDD 10 of the second embodiment described above, the connection portion 211 is separated from the housing 91. Therefore, the connection portion 211 can retain the flux at a position separated from the housing 91 by, for example, surface tension. Therefore, the relay connector 66 of this embodiment can suppress contamination of the inside of the relay connector 66 by substances such as residual flux.
[0156] (Third embodiment)
[0157] Below, refer to Figure 8 A third embodiment will be described. Figure 8 2 is an illustrative perspective view showing a reinforcing pin 301 according to the third embodiment. Figure 8 As shown in FIG. 1 , the reinforcement member 94 of the third embodiment includes a reinforcement pin 301 instead of the reinforcement pins 111 and 112. The reinforcement pin 301 is substantially the same as the reinforcement pins 111 and 112 except for the following points.
[0158] The reinforcing pin 301 includes the connecting portion 131 of the first embodiment and the connecting portion 211 of the second embodiment. The connecting portion 211 is an example of a second connecting portion. The slit 135 is located between the two connecting portions 131 and 211 .

The slit 135 is located between the connecting portion 131 and the connecting portion 211. Thus, the reinforcing member 94 can improve the strength and can be more firmly attached to the FPC 37. Furthermore, the connecting portion 131 can block the flux that moves toward the housing 91 in the slit 135 due to, for example, a capillary phenomenon. Therefore, the reinforcing member 94 can suppress the flux from penetrating into the inside of the housing 91 along the reinforcing member 94.
[0160] (Fourth embodiment)
[0161] Below, refer to Fig. 9 A fourth embodiment will be described. Fig. 9 4 is an illustrative perspective view showing a reinforcing pin 401 according to the fourth embodiment. Fig. 9 As shown in FIG. 1 , the reinforcing member 94 of the fourth embodiment includes a reinforcing pin 401 instead of the reinforcing pins 111 and 112. The reinforcing pin 401 is substantially the same as the reinforcing pins 111 and 112 except for the following points.
[0162] The reinforcing pin 401 has a connecting portion 411 instead of the connecting portion 131. The connecting portion 411 is an example of a third connecting portion and a fifth connecting portion. The connecting portion 411 connects the two inner pins 122 to each other.

[0164] In the HDD 10 of the fourth embodiment described above, the plurality of wires 92 each have an inner pin 122 located inside the housing 91 and connected to the outer pin 121. The two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 401 are respectively in the same shape as the outer pins 121 of the wire 92. The reinforcing pin 401 has two inner pins 122 and a connecting portion 411. The two inner pins 122 of the reinforcing pin 401 are located inside the housing 91 and connected to the two outer pins 121, and are respectively in the same shape as the inner pins 122 of the wire 92. The connecting portion 411 connects the two inner pins 122 of the reinforcing pin 401 to each other. Thus, the reinforcing member 94 can improve strength. Furthermore, the reinforcing pin 401 is in a shape substantially the same as the shape after the two wires 92 are connected to each other. Therefore, the reinforcing pin 401 can be formed by, for example, a common mold with the wire 92, and can therefore be easily manufactured. In addition, the reinforcing pin 401 can be mounted on the housing 91 by the same method as the wire 92, and can therefore be easily mounted on the housing 91.
[0165] The plurality of wires 93 each have an inner pin 122 that is located inside the housing 91 and connected to the outer pin 121. The two outer pins 121 of the reinforcing pin 401 are respectively in the same shape as the outer pins 121 of the wires 93.
