Abstract
Description
Stretchable display panel, preparation method, and display device Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of display technology, and in particular to a stretchable display panel, a preparation method thereof, and a display device. Background Art
[0002] Sub-millimeter light-emitting diodes (Mini-LEDs) and micro-light-emitting diodes (Micro-LEDs) both exhibit high luminous efficiency, long lifespan, low power consumption, and fast response. [0049] Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a display device, which is a product having an image (including a static image or a dynamic image, wherein the dynamic image may be a video) display function. The display device may, for example, be a virtual reality (VR) display device or an augmented reality (AR) display device. The display device may also, for example, be a display, a mobile phone (Mobile Phone), a tablet computer (Pad), a laptop computer, a television, a personal digital assistant (PDA), an ultra-mobile personal computer (UMPC), a netbook, a wearable device (such as a smart watch), or a vehicle-mounted display device, etc. This embodiment does not limit the type of the display device.
[0050] Referring to FIG1 , the display device 1 includes a display module 20 and may further include a controller, a frame 10 (e.g., a middle frame, etc.). The controller is configured to send image data (e.g., grayscale data) to the display module 20 and may be, for example, a central processing unit (CPU) or a graphics processing unit (GPU). The display module 20 is a component configured to display a screen; for example, it is configured to receive image data and display a screen corresponding to the image data. The frame 10 is configured to fix the display module 20, the controller, etc.
[0051] 2 , the display module 20 may include a stretchable display panel 210. The stretchable display panel 210 is configured to receive a data signal (e.g., a voltage signal) corresponding to image data, and display an image (i.e., a picture) based on the data signal. The stretchable display panel 210 may have a display area AA and a non-display area SA. The display area AA of the stretchable display panel 210 is an area on the stretchable display panel 210 that can display an image. The area other than the display area AA on the stretchable display panel 210 is the non-display area SA. The non-display area SA may be located on at least one side (e.g., one, or multiple sides) of the display area AA, for example, the display area SA is arranged around the display area AA.
[0052] The stretchable display panel 210 includes a plurality of sub-pixels 211 located in the display area AA. The plurality of sub-pixels 211 include a first sub-pixel for emitting a first color light, a second sub-pixel for emitting a second color light, and a third sub-pixel for emitting a third color light. The first color, the second color, and the third color are three primary colors (e.g., red, green, and blue). Exemplarily, the stretchable display panel 210 may include a red sub-pixel, a green sub-pixel, and a blue sub-pixel.
[0053] The stretchable display panel 210 further includes a plurality of signal lines, such as a plurality of gate lines 213 and a plurality of data lines 212. Each sub-pixel 211 can be coupled to a gate line 213 and a data line 212, and is configured to write a data signal transmitted by the data line 212 in response to a scan signal transmitted by the gate line 213; and emit light with a corresponding intensity based on the data signal.
[0054] A plurality of gate lines 213 may extend roughly along a third direction X. Exemplarily, a gate line 213 may be parallel to the third direction X. Exemplarily, the extension direction of a gate line 213 may also have a smaller angle with the first direction. For example, the smaller angle has a value range of -8° to 8°, and another example of -5° to 5°. Hereinafter, the smaller angle described may refer to the value range of the angle and be adaptively selected within the value range. One (for example, each) gate line 213 may be coupled to the sub-pixels 211 of the same row and configured to transmit a scanning signal to the sub-pixels 211 of the row. Exemplarily, the gate line 213 is located in the display area AA and may also extend into the non-display area SA.
[0055] In some examples, the stretchable display panel 210 may further include a gate drive circuit located in the non-display area. In this case, the gate drive circuit may be referred to as a GOA (Gate On Array) circuit. The gate drive circuit is coupled to the plurality of data lines 212 and is configured to provide a scan signal to the gate line 213. For example, the gate drive circuit may be provided on one side (e.g., the left or right side) of the display area along the first direction. In other examples, the gate drive circuit may be a gate drive chip that is not included in the stretchable display panel 210 but is coupled to the plurality of gate lines 213 in the stretchable display panel 210.
[0056] The plurality of data lines 212 may extend substantially along a second direction Y, wherein the second direction Y is perpendicular to the third direction X. For example, a data line 212 may be parallel to the second direction Y. For another example, a data line 212 may also have a small angle with the second direction. One (e.g., each) data line 212 may be coupled to the sub-pixels 211 in the same column and configured to provide data signals to the sub-pixels 211 in the column. For example, the data line 212 is located in the display area AA and may also extend into the non-display area SA.
[0057] Exemplarily, the display module 20 may further include a driver chip, which may be a driver IC, such as a source driver IC or a display driver circuit (DDIC). The driver chip is coupled to the stretchable display panel 210, for example, it can be bound to the non-display area SA of the stretchable display panel 210. The driver chip is configured to provide corresponding data signals to the stretchable display panel 210 based on the received image data. In some examples, the driver chip is coupled to a plurality of data lines 212 and is configured to provide data signals to the data lines 212. For example, the stretchable display panel 210 also includes a plurality of fan-out lines located in the non-display area, and the area where these fan-out lines are located can be referred to as a fan-out area. The driver chip is coupled to the plurality of data lines 212 through the plurality of fan-out lines in the fan-out area. Each data line 212 is coupled to a fan-out line; one end of the fan-out line extends to the boundary of the display area, and the other end extends to the location of the driver chip.
[0058] In addition, the display module 20 may further include a circuit board, such as a flexible circuit board. The circuit board may be bonded to the non-display area SA of the stretchable display panel 210, coupled to a driver chip, and configured to transmit image data output by the controller to the driver chip, so that the driver chip generates corresponding data signals based on the image data.
[0059] 3 and 4 , the stretchable display panel 210 includes an island region DY and a bridge region QY connected to each other. In some examples, the island region DY and the bridge region QY are both located within the aforementioned display area.
[0060] Exemplarily, the stretchable display panel 210 further includes: a display structure 214 located in the island region DY and a connection structure 215 located in the bridge region QY, wherein the connection structure 215 is configured to connect adjacent display structures 214 .
[0061] In some examples, the display structure 214 includes a second substrate E and a circuit layer F in a stacked arrangement.
[0062] The structure of the second substrate E can be selected and set according to actual needs. For example, the second substrate E can be a rigid substrate. The rigid substrate can include, for example, a glass substrate, a quartz substrate, or a plastic substrate. In another example, the second substrate E can also be a flexible substrate. The flexible substrate can include, for example, a polyimide substrate, a polymethyl methacrylate substrate, a polyethylene naphthalate substrate, etc.
[0063] The circuit layer F includes a buffer layer F50 and an active pattern layer F30 stacked together. The buffer layer F50 is disposed on one side of the second substrate E; the active pattern layer F30 is disposed on the side of the buffer layer F50 facing away from the second substrate E. The active pattern layer F30 includes multiple active patterns F31. The active pattern layer F30 has an active area, a first polar region F32, and a second polar region F33 located on opposite sides of the active area. The portion of the active pattern layer F30 located in the active area can be referred to as the active pattern F31. One of the first polar region F32 and the second polar region F33 is a source region (which can function as a source electrode), and the other is a drain region (which can function as a drain electrode). Both can be made of doped polysilicon to exhibit conductive properties. Furthermore, the circuit layer F includes a first insulating layer F10, a gate pattern layer F40, and a second insulating layer F20 stacked sequentially on the active pattern layer F30. The gate pattern layer F40 can include multiple gate electrodes F41. In some examples, a gate electrode F41 in the gate pattern layer F40 and an active pattern F31 (or active region, first polar region F32, and second polar region F33) in the active pattern layer F30 can constitute a transistor. The gate pattern layer F40 can be made of a metal material, for example, at least one of aluminum (Al), silver (Ag), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti), molybdenum (Mo), etc.
[0064] Exemplarily, the stretchable display panel 210 further includes a first optical adhesive layer C20 and a first flexible protective film C10, and the first flexible protective film C10 is adhered to the second substrate E of the display structure 214 via the first optical adhesive layer C20. The material of the first flexible protective film C10 can be an elastic material (which can be called an elastic material), for example, the elastic material can be polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), linear triblock copolymer (SEBS), aliphatic aromatic random copolyester (Ecoflex), rubber, etc.
[0065] Exemplarily, the stretchable display panel 210 further includes a conductive pattern layer C80, which is disposed on the circuit layer F (or the second insulating layer F20) of the display structure 214. The conductive pattern layer C80 includes a plurality of first connection portions C81 located in the island area DY. At least one (for example, one, or more) first connection portion C81 is coupled to an active pattern F31. In some examples, there may be two first connection portions C81 coupled to an active pattern F31; one of the first connection portions C81 is coupled to a first polar region F32 located on one side of the active pattern F31, and the other first connection portion C81 is coupled to a second polar region F33 located on the other side of the active pattern F31.
[0066] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, a "patterned layer" may be a layer structure containing a specific pattern formed by forming at least one film layer using the same film-forming process and then performing a patterning process on the at least one film layer. Depending on the specific pattern, the patterning process may include multiple coating, exposure, development, or etching processes, and the specific pattern in the resulting layer structure may be continuous or discontinuous, and these specific patterns may also be at different heights (or thicknesses).
[0067] The stretchable display panel 210 also includes a first support layer G20 and first connecting wires G40. The first connecting wires G40 can be made of a metal; the metal can be a single element, such as titanium, aluminum, molybdenum, copper, silver, or gold, or an alloy, such as an alloy of the aforementioned single elements (titanium-aluminum alloy, aluminum-neodymium alloy, etc.). The first connecting wires G40 can also be made of a non-metallic material with stretchable and conductive properties; the non-metallic material can be silver nanowires, carbon nanotubes, graphene, or a mixture of carbon nanotubes, silver nanosheets, and stretchable resins or rubber.
[0068] The first supporting layer G20 includes a first surface M1 located in the bridge area QY. The first connecting line G40 passes through the first surface M1; for example, the first connecting line G40 extends from one island area DY through the first surface M1 to another island area DY. The first connecting line G40 connects the display structure 214; for example, the first connecting line G40 can be connected to the first connecting portion C81 in the display structure 214. In this way, when the stretchable display panel 210 is stretched, the distance between adjacent display structures 214 is increased, so that the first connecting line G40 is stretched within the display surface, thereby increasing the size of the stretchable display panel 210. However, since the first connecting line G40 is stretched within the display surface, the elongation of the first connecting line G40 (the elongation can be understood as the difference in distance before and after stretching) is limited, which makes the stretching performance of the stretchable display panel 210 poor. Among them, the display surface can be the surface of one side of the stretchable display panel 210 displaying the picture.
[0069] In order to solve the problem of poor stretchability of the stretchable display panel 210. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the portion of the first connecting line G40 located on the first surface M1 includes an extensible portion. The extensible portion is tilted relative to the display surface of the stretchable display panel 210, which can be understood as the extensible portion being deformed in a direction perpendicular to the display surface. In this way, the extensible portion can increase the elongation of the first connecting line G40, thereby increasing the elongation of the connecting structure 215, thereby increasing the stretchable distance between adjacent display structures 214, and thereby improving the stretchability of the stretchable display panel 210.
[0070] In some examples, for example, the extensible portion has a protrusion in the first direction Z as shown in Figure 4; when stretched, the height of the protrusion decreases, so that the size of the orthographic projection of the protrusion on the display surface increases, thereby increasing the elongation of the extensible portion. For another example, the extensible portion has a depression in the first direction Z; when stretched, the depth of the depression decreases, so that the size of the orthographic projection of the depression on the display surface increases, thereby increasing the elongation of the extensible portion. For another example, the extensible portion has a protrusion and a depression in the first direction Z, and both the height of the protrusion and the depth of the depression decrease, thereby increasing the elongation of the extensible portion. The first direction Z is perpendicular to the display surface. In this example, the extensible portion can be understood as the above-mentioned protrusion and / or depression.
[0071] Illustratively, the first connecting line G40 includes multiple extendable portions, which are sequentially arranged along the extension direction of the first connecting line G40. The number of extendable portions can increase the elongation of the first connecting line G40. Illustratively, the cross-sectional shape includes any of trapezoidal, arched, and rectangular. A cross-section is defined as a surface cut along the first direction Z and parallel to the extension direction of the first connecting line G40.
[0072] In some embodiments, the stretchable display panel 210 further includes a third insulating layer C30, a lead layer C90, a light-emitting device D2, a retaining wall adhesive C50, a second optical adhesive layer C60, and a second flexible protective film C70.
[0073] The third insulating layer C30 is disposed on the second insulating layer F20 and covers the conductive pattern layer C80. The material of the third insulating layer C30 is an organic material, such as polyimide.
[0074] The lead layer C90 is disposed on the side of the third insulating layer C30 facing away from the second insulating layer F20. The lead layer C90 is made of a metal, such as copper. The lead layer C90 includes multiple lead portions C91, which connect to first connection portions C81 in the conductive pattern layer C80 through first through-holes in the third insulating layer C30. The lead portions C91 can be deposited in the first through-holes of the third insulating layer C30 using an electroforming process.
[0075] At least one (e.g., one, or more) light-emitting device D2 is located within an island region DY. In some examples, there may be three light-emitting devices D2 within an island region DY. These three light-emitting devices D2 may be light-emitting devices D2 that emit three colors. For example, the three-color light-emitting devices D2 may be red, blue, and green light-emitting devices D2. The light-emitting device D2 is a device that emits light when powered on. For example, the light-emitting device D2 may be an LED, a micro-LED, an OLED (Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode), etc., without limitation. As an example, the light-emitting device D2 may be a micro-light-emitting device, the size of which may refer to the size of a micro-LED. Micro-LEDs include submillimeter or even micron-sized light-emitting diodes, and may also include even smaller light-emitting diodes. Submillimeter-sized light-emitting diodes are also called submillimeter light-emitting diodes (Mini Light Emitting Diodes; Mini LEDs); the size (e.g., length) of a Mini LED may be 50 microns to 150 microns, for example, 80 microns to 120 microns, or 100 microns or less. Micron-scale light-emitting diodes are also called micro light-emitting diodes (Micro LEDs). For example, the size (e.g., length) of a Micro LED can be less than 50 microns, for example, 10 to 50 microns. The light-emitting device D2 can include at least one (e.g., one or more) pins coupled to the active pattern F31. For example, a pin can be coupled to a guide portion C91 and coupled to an active pattern F31 through the connected guide portion C91 and a first connection portion C81.
[0076] The retaining wall glue C50 is disposed around the light emitting device D2. For example, the retaining wall glue C50 can be formed around the light emitting device D2 in the island region DY by printing, inkjet printing, or other processes. The retaining wall glue C50 can be a light-proof material to prevent color crosstalk between adjacent light emitting devices D2.
[0077] The second flexible protective film C70 is adhered to the side of the light-emitting device D2 away from the third insulating layer C30 via a second optical adhesive layer C60. The second optical adhesive layer C60 may be an optically transparent adhesive. The material of the second flexible protective film C70 may be an elastic material (referred to as an elastic material), such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), linear triblock copolymer (Styrene Ethylene Butylene Styrene, SEBS), aliphatic aromatic random copolyester (Ecoflex), rubber, etc.
[0078] The first supporting layer G20 represents different meanings in different examples. Two examples are provided below to illustrate the first supporting layer G20.
[0079] Example 1:
[0080] Referring to Figures 3 to 5, the first supporting layer G20 can be disposed on the first substrate G10 of the connecting structure 215. In this case, the first connecting line G40 and the first connecting portion C81 can be formed through a single patterning process, that is, the first connecting line G40 also belongs to the conductive pattern layer C80. In the case where the first supporting layer G20 can be disposed on the first substrate G10 of the connecting structure 215, the material of the conductive pattern layer C80 is the same as that of the first connecting line G40. In the case where the materials of the conductive pattern layer C80 and the first connecting line G40 are non-metallic, patterning can be achieved through processes such as inkjet printing, 3D printing, printing, and nanoimprinting. In some examples, the second insulating layer F20 is flush with the first supporting layer G20, which can prevent the first connecting line G40 from breaking at the junction of the second insulating layer F20 and the first supporting layer G20.
[0081] In some examples, the connection structure 215 includes a first substrate G10, which is made of a flexible material such as a polyimide substrate, a polymethyl methacrylate substrate, or a polyethylene naphthalate substrate. In one possible implementation, if the second substrate E is a flexible substrate, the first substrate G10 and the second substrate E can be made of the same material, such as a polyimide substrate. In this case, the first substrate G10 and the second substrate E can be formed through a single patterning process. In this case, the first flexible protective film C10 is also adhered to the first substrate G10 of the connection structure 215 via a first optical adhesive layer C20.
[0082] In some embodiments, the first supporting layer G20 is a flexible structure and can be made of an organic material.
[0083] The first surface M1 includes a first flat portion BT and a first deformed portion PT. For example, the first surface M1 includes the connected first flat portion BT and the first deformed portion PT within a target region; the target region may include a bridge region QY, and the target region may further include an area near the bridge region QY in the bridge region QY and the island region DY.
[0084] The first flat portion BT is parallel to the display surface, and the first deformation portion PT is convex or concave along the first direction Z relative to the first flat portion BT (eg, convex, concave, or both).
[0085] The first connecting line G40 passes through the first flat portion BT and the first deformable portion PT. The extensible portion covers the first deformable portion PT. This means that the shape of the extensible portion is the same as that of the first deformable portion PT. That is, at the first deformable portion PT, the extensible portion convexes and / or concave relative to the first flat portion BT. In other words, the extensible portion has convexities and / or concavities in the first direction Z.
[0086] For example, the first supporting layer G20 may have a multi-layer structure. The first supporting layer G20 includes a first flexible layer G21 and at least one (e.g., one or more) first flexible portion G22. The first flexible portion G22 may be made of a material having stretchability and resilience, such as epoxy resin, acrylic resin, or silicone resin. The first substrate G10 and the first flexible layer G21 are stacked.
[0087] The first flexible portion G22 is located on a surface of the first flexible layer G21 close to the display side of the stretchable display panel 210. For example, the first flexible portion G22 is located on a surface of the first flexible layer G21 away from the first substrate G10.
[0088] The surface of the first flexible portion G22 close to the display side is the first deforming portion PT. The first flat portion BT may be the surface of the first flexible layer G21 away from the first substrate G10 and does not overlap with the first flexible portion G22 on this surface.
[0089] The distance between any two first deformable portions PT is equal, for example, the distance between any two first flexible portions G22 is equal. This facilitates calculation of the elongation of the first connecting wire G40. The distance can range from 0 to 100 μm (e.g., 0, 10 nm, 20 nm, 30 nm, 40 nm, 50 nm, 60 nm, 70 nm, 80 nm, 90 nm, 100 nm, etc.).
[0090] The cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 includes any one of a trapezoidal, an arched, and a rectangular shape. The cross-sectional shape is a surface cut along the first direction Z and parallel to the extending direction of the first connecting line G40 (for example, the cross-sectional shape may be a cross-sectional shape taken along the BB section line shown in FIG3 ; wherein the cross-sectional shapes appearing below may also be cross-sectional shapes taken along the BB section line shown in FIG3 ). For example, the cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 shown in FIG5 is an arched shape. For example, the cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 shown in FIG6 is a trapezoidal shape. For example, the cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 shown in FIG7 is a rectangular shape.
[0091] The following describes the changes in the first flexible portion G22 before and after stretching, assuming the cross-section of the first flexible portion G22 is arched. Referring to Figures 8 and 9 , when the first flexible portion G22 is arched, the width K1 of the first flexible portion G22 can be 3um to 100um (3um, 5um, 8um, 10um, 20um, 30um, 40um, 50um, 60um, 70um, 80um, 90um, 100um, etc.), and the height H1 of the first flexible portion G22 can be 1.5um to 32um (1.5um, 2um, 3um, 5um, 10um, 15um, 20um, 25um, 30um, 32um, etc.). When the first flexible portion G22 is not stretched, the width K1 of the first flexible portion G22 and the height H1 of the first flexible portion G22 are: When the first flexible portion G22 is stretched, the width K2 of the first flexible portion G22 and the height H2 of the first flexible portion G22 are greater than K1, and H1 is greater than H2. The relationship between the width K1 of the first flexible portion G22 and the height H1 of the first flexible portion G22 satisfies the following formula: L1 = πH1 + 4(0.5K1 - H1), S1 = 0.5πH1K1. The relationship between the width K2 of the first flexible portion G22 and the height H2 of the first flexible portion G22 satisfies the following formula: L2 = πH2 + 4(0.5K2 - H2), S2 = 0.5πH2K2. Since the area of the first flexible portion G22 remains unchanged before and after stretching, that is, S1 equals S2, H1K1 = H2K2 can be obtained. When H1 = 3 μm and K1 = 8 μm, L1 = 13.42 μm, and H1K1 = H2K2 = 24 μm. According to H2K2=24um, when the stretchable display panel 210 is stretched along the width extension direction of the first flexible portion G22, H2=2um, K2=12um, and L2=22.28um can be obtained. Therefore, when H2 / H1=0.66 and K2 / K1=1.5, L2 / L1=1.66.
[0092] Since the first connecting line G40 is arranged on the outer surface of the first flexible portion G22, the circumference of the first flexible portion G22 can be the length of the extensible portion, and the arched design of the first flexible portion can enhance the tensile strength of the first connecting line G40.
[0093] Referring to FIG. 10 , the first supporting layer G20 further includes a second flexible portion G23. The second flexible portion G23 is located on a side of the first flexible layer G21 facing away from the first flexible portion G22. That is, the first flexible portion G22 and the second flexible portion are stacked. The orthographic projection of the second flexible portion G23 on the first flexible layer G21 is within the orthographic projection of the first flexible portion G22 on the first flexible layer G21.
[0094] The first deformation portion PT is replaced by the first flexible portion G22 and the second flexible portion G23 , both of which are entirely close to the surface of the display side.
[0095] The cross-sectional shape of the second flexible portion G23 includes any one of a trapezoidal, arched, and rectangular shape. For example, as shown in FIG10 , where the cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 is trapezoidal, the cross-sectional shape of the second flexible portion is trapezoidal. For another example, as shown in FIG11 , where the cross-sectional shape of the first flexible portion G22 is trapezoidal, the cross-sectional shape of the second flexible portion is arched.
[0096] As another example, referring to FIG. 12 , the first supporting layer G20 may be a single-layer structure. In this case, the first supporting layer G20 corresponds to the first flexible layer G21 described above. Specifically, the surface of the first flexible layer G21 facing away from the first substrate G10 includes a plurality of first recessed portions G211. The inner surfaces of the first recessed portions G211 constitute the first deformable portions PT. The first flat portion BT may be the surface of the first flexible layer G21 facing away from the first substrate G10, and this surface does not overlap with the plurality of first recessed portions G211.
[0097] The distance between any two first recesses G211 is equal; the distance can be between 0 and 100 μm (e.g., 0, 10 nm, 20 nm, 30 nm, 40 nm, 50 nm, 60 nm, 70 nm, 80 nm, 90 nm, 100 nm, etc.). The cross-section of the first recess G211 includes one of a trapezoidal shape, an arched shape, and a rectangular shape. For example, the cross-section of the first recess G211 shown in FIG12 includes an arched shape. For another example, the cross-section of the first recess G211 shown in FIG13 includes a trapezoidal shape.
[0098] 14 , the first supporting layer G20 includes a first flexible layer G21 and at least one first flexible portion G22. The first flexible portion G22 is located on the surface of the first flexible layer G21 that is close to the display side of the stretchable display panel 210. Furthermore, the surface of the first flexible layer G21 that is away from the first substrate G10 has a plurality of first recessed portions G211.
[0099] The inner surface of the first concave portion G211 and the surface of the first flexible portion G22 near the display side are the first deformable portion PT. The first flat portion BT can be the surface of the first flexible layer G21 away from the first substrate G10, and this surface does not overlap with the multiple first concave portions G211 and the first flexible portion G22.
[0100] The distance between any two first recessed portions G211, the distance between any two first flexible portions G22, and the distance between the first recessed portion G211 and the first flexible portion G22 are all equal; wherein, the value of the distance can be 0 to 100um (for example, 0, 10nm, 20nm, 30nm, 40nm, 50nm, 60nm, 70nm, 80nm, 90nm, 100nm, etc.).
[0101] The cross-section of the first flexible portion G22 may include one of a trapezoidal, arched, and rectangular shape. The cross-section of the first recessed portion G211 may include one of a trapezoidal, arched, and rectangular shape. The cross-section of the first recessed portion G211 and the cross-section of the first flexible portion G22 have the same shape. The term "same shape" may be understood as meaning that the cross-sections of the first recessed portion G211 and the first flexible portion G22 have the same shape. For example, as shown in FIG14 , the cross-section of the first recessed portion G211 is arched, and the cross-section of the first flexible portion G22 is arched. For another example, the cross-section of the first recessed portion G211 is rectangular, and the cross-section of the first flexible portion G22 is rectangular.
[0102] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 3 and 15-17 , the stretchable display panel 210 includes at least one first organic planar layer C00 and at least one second connecting wire G62. The material of the first organic planar layer C00 is an organic material, such as polyimide. The material of the second connecting wire G62 can be similar to that of the first connecting wire G40. The first organic planar layer C00 is stacked on the first supporting layer G20, such that the first organic planar layer C00 covers the first connecting wire G40. In some examples, the first organic planar layer C00 also extends between the second insulating layer F20 and the third insulating layer C30, and covers the conductive pattern layer C80. In some examples, a conductive layer G60 is formed on the side of the first organic planar layer C00 away from the first supporting layer G20. The second connecting wire G62 and the second connecting portion G61 can be formed through a single patterning process. The second connecting portion G61 can be connected to the first connecting portion.
[0103] The structure of the second supporting layer is the same or substantially the same as that of the first supporting layer G20. The second supporting layer is the portion of the first organic planar layer C00 located in the island region DY. It can also be understood that the second supporting layer and the first supporting layer G20 are directly opposite each other, that is, the orthographic projection of the first supporting layer G20 on the plane of the display surface coincides with the orthographic projection of the second supporting layer on the plane of the display surface.
[0104] The second supporting layer has a second surface with the same structure as the first surface M1 of the first supporting layer G20; that is, the second surface includes a connected second flat portion and a second deformable portion. The term "same" can be understood as meaning that both the first flat portion BT and the second flat portion are parallel to the display surface; and that the first deformable portion PT and the second deformable portion have the same shape and orientation. For example, the first deformable portion PT and the second deformable portion are both convex (arched) as shown in Figure 16; in another example, the first deformable portion PT and the second deformable portion are both concave. "Approximately the same" (which can be called "opposite") can be understood as meaning that both the first flat portion BT and the second flat portion are parallel to the display surface; and that the first deformable portion PT and the second deformable portion have the same shape and opposite orientation. For example, the first deformable portion PT is a concave (arched) as shown in Figure 17, and the second deformable portion is a convex (arched) as shown in Figure 17. In another example, the first deformable portion PT is a concave (trapezoidal) as shown in Figure 18, and the second deformable portion is a convex (trapezoidal) as shown in Figure 18. The second surface is the surface of the second supporting layer that is away from the first supporting layer G20.
[0105] In some examples, the second surface has a plurality of third flexible portions and / or a plurality of second recessed portions, wherein the second deformable portion is an outer surface of the plurality of third flexible portions and / or an inner surface of the plurality of second recessed portions.
[0106] In some examples, in the first direction Z, the size of the first organic planar layer C00 is less than or equal to 2 nm (for example, 0.1 nm, 0.3 nm, 0.5 nm, 0.7 nm, 0.8 nm, 1 nm, 1.2 nm, 1.4 nm, 1.6 nm, 1.8 nm, 2 nm, etc.); in this way, the thickness of the first organic planar layer C00 is relatively thin and does not play a flattening role, so that a second deformation portion is formed on the second supporting layer; in addition, the size of the second flexible layer is less than or equal to 2 nm, and will not make the thickness of the stretchable display panel 210 thicker.
[0107] The structure of the second connecting line G62 is the same or substantially the same as that of the first connecting line G40. It can be understood that the second connecting line G62 passes through the second flat portion and the second deformed portion, and is deformed accordingly at the second deformed portion. That is, the second connecting line G62 forms the same shape as the second deformed portion, thereby increasing the elongation of the second connecting line G62.
[0108] The second connecting wires G62 connect to the display structure 214 and pass through the second surface of the second supporting layer. For example, the second connecting wires G62 extend from one island region DY through the second surface to another island region DY. In this way, the first connecting wires G40 and the second connecting wires G62 can form a dual structure, resulting in relatively low stress on both the first connecting wires G40 and the second connecting wires G62, thereby reducing deformation of the first connecting wires G40 and the second connecting wires G62 and improving the stretchability of the stretchable display panel 210.
[0109] In some examples, one end of the second connection line G62 is connected to the first connection line G40 in one island region DY, and the other end is connected to the first connection line G40 in another island region DY. In this way, the first connection line G40 and the second connection line G62 are connected in parallel. If one of the first connection line G40 and the second connection line G62 breaks, the other can still function as a conductive line, thereby reducing the risk of the connection structure 215 breaking and improving the stretchability of the stretchable display panel 210.
[0110] In some embodiments, the stretchable display panel 210 further includes a shielding layer C40. The shielding layer C40 is disposed on the third insulating layer C30 and has a plurality of second through holes, within which the plurality of guide portions C91 are located. This prevents oxidation of the plurality of guide portions C91 in the lead layer C90. In some examples, the shielding layer C40 also wraps around the outer surface of the third insulating layer C30.
[0111] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 3 and 19 to 22, the connecting structure 215 includes multiple connecting segments and multiple arcuate segments. The arcuate segments are used to connect adjacent connecting segments, as well as to connect the connecting segments to the display structure 214. Because adjacent connecting segments are directly connected to form sharp corners, stress is high at these corners. The arcuate segments serve to reduce stress between adjacent connecting segments, thereby resolving issues such as breakage caused by excessive stress.
[0112] Example 2:
[0113] 23 and 24 , the first supporting layer is located on the side of the display structure 214 facing away from the display side of the stretchable display panel 210. The display side is the side of the stretchable display panel 210 that can display images. For example, if the display structure 214 is attached to the first supporting layer, the first supporting layer can be understood as a stacked arrangement of the first optical adhesive layer C20 and the first flexible protective film C10.
[0114] The first connecting wire G40 connects to the portion of the display structure 214 near the display side; for example, the first connecting wire G40 connects to the first connecting portion C81 of the display structure 214 near the display side. In this case, the connecting structure 215 can be understood as the first connecting wire G40. The conductive pattern layer C80 can be made of a metal; the metal can be a single element, such as titanium, aluminum, molybdenum, copper, silver, or gold, or an alloy, such as an alloy of the aforementioned single elements (such as titanium-aluminum alloy or aluminum-neodymium alloy). For example, the conductive pattern layer C80 and the first connecting wire G40 can both be made of a metal (such as titanium, aluminum, molybdenum, copper, silver, or gold).
[0115] The extensible portion is located on a surface of the first connecting line G40 facing away from the first supporting layer G20 , in a region close to the display structure 214 .
[0116] In some embodiments, referring to FIG. 25 and FIG. 26 , a stretchable display panel may include at least one (e.g., one or more) pixel circuits Q (also referred to as minimum repetition drive circuits). A pixel circuit Q is electrically connected to a light-emitting device D2 and configured to provide an adjustable electrical signal to the light-emitting device D2, thereby making the brightness of the light-emitting device D2 adjustable.
[0117] In some embodiments, the pixel circuit Q may include multiple transistors and at least one (e.g., one or more) capacitors. For example, each pixel circuit Q may include two transistors and one capacitor, forming a 2T1C structure. It may also include more than two transistors and at least one capacitor, forming a 3T1C structure (i.e., three transistors and one capacitor), a 4T1C structure (i.e., four transistors and one capacitor), a 5T1C structure (i.e., five transistors and one capacitor), a 7T1C structure (i.e., seven transistors and one capacitor), or an 11T3C structure (i.e., eleven transistors and three capacitors). A pixel circuit Q with a 7T1C structure can ensure uniform brightness across the light-emitting device D2. A pixel circuit Q with an 11T3C structure can eliminate display uniformity across the light-emitting device D2 at low grayscales.
[0118] The transistors in the embodiments of the present disclosure are all illustrated by thin film transistors, but are not limited to thin film transistors and may also be field effect transistors, etc.
[0119] The transistor includes: a gate, a source, a drain, and an active pattern connected between the source and the drain. The active pattern of the transistor in the pixel circuit Q is, for example, the active pattern in the above-mentioned active pattern layer. The material of the active pattern may include an oxide semiconductor. For example, the oxide semiconductor may include one or more combinations of indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO), indium zinc tin oxide (IGTO), indium zinc oxide (IZO), and C-axis aligned crystalline (CAAC) structure; accordingly, the transistor may be an oxide transistor (also referred to as an oxide thin film transistor). The material of the active pattern may also include polycrystalline silicon (P-Si); accordingly, the transistor may be a polysilicon transistor. In the transistor, the active pattern may exhibit conductive characteristics under the drive of the gate and source voltages, so that the source and drain are conductive; or, it may exhibit insulating characteristics, so that the source and drain are disconnected.
[0120] In some embodiments, all transistors in the pixel circuit Q are of the same type, for example, all are oxide transistors or all are polysilicon transistors. In other embodiments, the transistors in the pixel circuit Q are of at least two types, for example, the pixel circuit Q may include some oxide transistors and some polysilicon transistors.
[0121] In some embodiments, each transistor in the pixel circuit Q may be a P-type transistor. It should be noted that the embodiments of the present disclosure include but are not limited to this. For example, one or more transistors in the pixel circuit Q provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure may also be an N-type transistor. It is only necessary to connect the respective electrodes of the N-type transistors accordingly with reference to the respective electrodes of the corresponding P-type transistors in the embodiments of the present disclosure, and apply a corresponding high level to the corresponding gate.
[0122] In the following description, the pixel circuit Q is described using a 7T1C structure as an example. Referring to FIG25 , the pixel circuit Q of the 7T1C structure includes: a first transistor T1, a second transistor T2, a third transistor T3, a fourth transistor T4, a fifth transistor T5, a sixth transistor T6, a seventh transistor T7, and a capacitor C. In the embodiments disclosed herein, only the first transistor T1 to the seventh transistor T7 are P-type transistors as an example. The third transistor T3 can be a driving transistor. The gate of the third transistor T3 is coupled to the N node. Each transistor includes a gate, a first electrode, and a second electrode. For a transistor, one of the first electrode and the second electrode is a source, and the other is a drain. For example, the first electrode is a drain, and the second electrode is a source.
[0123] The gate of the third transistor T3 is coupled to the N node.
[0124] The first transistor T1 has a gate coupled to the first reset signal terminal G3 , a first electrode coupled to the initialization signal terminal Vinit, and a second electrode coupled to the N node.
[0125] The gate of the second transistor T2 is coupled to the gate line G1, the first electrode is coupled to the second electrode of the third transistor T3, and the second electrode is coupled to the N node. The gate of the fourth transistor T4 is coupled to the gate line G1, the first electrode is coupled to the data line DL, and the second electrode is coupled to the first electrode of the third transistor T3.
[0126] The fifth transistor T5 has a gate coupled to the light emitting control signal terminal EM, a first electrode coupled to the first power supply voltage terminal VDD, and a second electrode coupled to the first electrode of the third transistor T3 .
[0127] The sixth transistor T6 has a gate coupled to the light-emission control signal terminal EM, a first electrode coupled to the second electrode of the third transistor T3, and a second electrode coupled to a first electrode (e.g., an anode) of the light-emitting device D2. A second electrode (e.g., a cathode) of the light-emitting device D2 is coupled to the second power supply voltage terminal VSS.
[0128] The seventh transistor T7 has a gate coupled to the second reset signal terminal G2 , a first electrode coupled to the initialization signal terminal Vinit, and a second electrode coupled to the first electrode of the light emitting device D2 .
[0129] One end of the capacitor C is coupled to the N node, and the other end is coupled to the first power supply voltage terminal VDD.
[0130] Wherein, the voltage provided by the first power supply voltage terminal VDD may be greater than the voltage provided by the second power supply voltage terminal VSS, and may also be greater than the voltage provided by the initialization signal terminal Vinit. In addition, illustratively, the gate line G1, the first reset signal terminal G3, and the second reset signal terminal G2 may each provide their own signals, that is, the signals provided by the three may be different. In another exemplary embodiment, the first reset signal terminal G3 and the second reset signal terminal G2 may provide the same signal, in which case the two may be coupled; the signals provided by the two are different from the signal provided by the gate line G1. In another exemplary embodiment, the second reset signal terminal G2 and the gate line G1 may provide the same signal, in which case the two may be coupled; the signals provided by the two are different from the signal provided by the first reset signal terminal G3.
[0131] The operation process of the pixel circuit Q includes the following stages:
[0132] Reset phase (S1 phase): the first transistor T1 is turned on in response to the signal provided by the first reset signal terminal G3, thereby transmitting the signal provided by the initialization signal terminal Vinit (eg, may be referred to as the initialization signal) to the N node to reset the N node.
[0133] Data writing phase (phase S2): The second transistor T2 and the fourth transistor T4 can both be turned on in response to the scan signal provided by the gate line G1, thereby writing the data signal provided by the data line DL (e.g., labeled Vdate) to the N node and simultaneously starting to charge the capacitor C. The voltage at the N node can be the compensated data signal, e.g., Vdate + Vth, where Vth is the threshold voltage of the third transistor. The seventh transistor T7 is turned on in response to the signal provided by the second reset signal terminal G2, thereby transmitting the initialization signal provided by the initialization signal terminal Vinit to the first electrode of the light-emitting device D2, thereby resetting the first electrode of the light-emitting device D2.
[0134] Light-emitting stage (stage S3): The fifth transistor T5 and the sixth transistor T6 can both be turned on in response to the signal provided by the light-emitting control signal terminal EM, so that the path from the first power supply voltage terminal VDD, through the fifth transistor T5, the third transistor T3, the sixth transistor T6, the light-emitting device D2, to the second power supply voltage terminal VSS is connected, so that the light-emitting device D2 can work (for example, emit light).
[0135] Exemplarily, all transistors in the pixel circuit Q of the 7T1C structure may be polysilicon transistors. Furthermore, exemplarily, the first transistor T1 and the second transistor T2 in the pixel circuit Q of the 7T1C structure may be oxide thin film transistors to reduce leakage current in the first transistor T1 and the second transistor T2, thereby better maintaining the voltage of the N node; the other transistors may be polysilicon transistors.
[0136] The present disclosure also provides a method for preparing a stretchable display panel, wherein the stretchable display panel includes connected island regions and bridge regions. Referring to FIG. 27 , the method includes: step S100 and step S200;
[0137] Step S100: forming a display structure in the island area;
[0138] Step S200, forming a first supporting layer and a first connecting line; the first supporting layer includes a first surface located in the bridge area; the first connecting line connects the display structure, the first connecting line passes through the first surface, and the portion of the first connecting line located on the first surface includes an extensible portion, and the extensible portion includes an inclined setting relative to the display surface of the stretchable display panel.
[0139] For the description of step S100 and step S200, reference may be made to the relevant description of the above-mentioned stretchable display panel.
[0140] In some embodiments, the step of forming the first supporting layer G20 and the first connecting line G40 may include:
[0141] 28 , a circuit layer F is provided, and a hollow region L is formed on the circuit layer F. The hollow region L is formed on the circuit layer F by, for example, exposure and development.
[0142] In some examples, the step of providing the circuit layer F further includes providing a substrate BL; the substrate BL may be made of glass. An initial base E1 is formed on the substrate BL. The circuit layer F is formed on the initial base E1. The material of the circuit layer F in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel can be found in the description of the circuit layer F in the stretchable display panel.
[0143] Referring to FIG. 29 , a first initial supporting layer G70 is formed in the hollow region L. The material of the first initial supporting layer G70 in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel can be found in the description of the first supporting layer G20 in the stretchable display panel. In some examples, the first initial supporting layer G70 can include a first flexible sublayer G71 and a first flexible sub-portion G72 stacked in layers.
[0144] 30 , a first connecting line G40 is formed on the surface of the first initial supporting layer G70 away from the initial substrate E1. For the description of the first connecting line G40 in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel, refer to the related description of the first connecting line G40 in the stretchable display panel.
[0145] In some examples, the step of forming the first connecting wires G40 on the surface of the first initial supporting layer G70 away from the initial substrate E1 includes further forming a conductive pattern layer C80; that is, the conductive pattern layer C80 and the first connecting wires G40 are formed through a single communication process. For a description of the conductive pattern layer C80 in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel, refer to the description of the conductive pattern layer C80 in the stretchable display panel.
[0146] 31 , a first supporting layer G20 is formed by removing a portion of the first initial supporting layer G70. In some examples, a first flexible layer G21 and a first flexible portion G22 are formed by removing portions of the first flexible sub-layer G71 and the first flexible sub-portion G72.
[0147] In some examples, the step of removing a portion of the first initial supporting layer G70 to form the first supporting layer G20 includes: forming a shielding layer C40 on the first initial supporting layer G70; and using the shielding layer C40 to remove a portion of the first initial supporting layer G70 to form the first supporting layer G20. For example, a third insulating layer C30 is further formed between the first initial supporting layer G70 and the shielding layer C40, and a portion of the third insulating layer C30 is further removed using the shielding layer C40. For another example, a first substrate G10 and a second substrate E are formed by removing a portion of the initial substrate E1; in this case, the first substrate G10 and the second substrate E are made of the same material. A lead layer C90 is formed on the shielding layer C40; the lead layer C90 includes a plurality of guide portions. For a description of the lead layer C90 in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel, please refer to the relevant description of the lead layer C90 in the stretchable display panel.
[0148] For example, referring to FIG. 32 , after the step of removing the partially formed first supporting layer G20 of the first initial supporting layer G70, the following steps are further included:
[0149] Connect the light-emitting device D2 to the guide. Use barrier adhesive C50 to surround the light-emitting device D2. Adhere a second flexible protective film C70 to the side of the light-emitting device D2 facing away from the third insulating layer C30 via a second optical adhesive layer C60. Remove the substrate BL. Adhere the first flexible protective film C10 to the second substrate E of the display structure and the first substrate of the connection structure via a first optical adhesive layer C20.
[0150] For example, referring to FIG. 33 , after the step of forming the first connection line G40 on the surface of the first preliminary supporting layer G70 away from the initial substrate E1 and before the step of removing the first supporting layer G20 formed from a portion of the first preliminary supporting layer G70, the method further includes:
[0151] At least one first organic planarizing layer C00 is formed, and the first organic planarizing layer C00 is superimposed on the first supporting layer G20. A second connecting line G62 is formed on the side of the first organic planarizing layer C00 away from the first supporting layer G20; the second connecting line G62 is connected to the display structure. In some examples, a conductive layer G60 is formed on the side of the first organic planarizing layer C00 away from the first supporting layer G20; the second connecting line G62 and the second connecting portion G61 can be formed through a single patterning process. For example, a portion of the first organic planarizing layer C00 can be removed using a shielding layer C40.
[0152] Among them, the structure of the second supporting layer is the same or substantially the same as that of the first supporting layer G20, and the structure of the second connecting line G62 is the same or substantially the same as that of the first connecting line G40; the second supporting layer is the portion of the first organic planarizing layer C00 located in the island area; the second connecting line G62 connects the display structure and passes through the second supporting layer.
[0153] In some other embodiments, the step of forming the first supporting layer G20 and the first connecting wire G40 may further include:
[0154] Referring to Figure 34, a substrate BL is provided; the material of the substrate BL can be glass. An initial base E1 is formed on the substrate BL. A circuit layer F is formed on the initial substrate E1. For the description of the circuit layer F in the method for preparing a stretchable display panel, please refer to the relevant description of the circuit layer F in the stretchable display panel. A hollow area L is formed on the circuit layer F. For example, a hollow area L is formed on the circuit layer F by exposure and development. Part of the initial substrate E1 is removed to form a second substrate E; for example, the second insulating layer in the circuit layer F is used (the second insulating layer can be understood as a mask plate in this case, thereby protecting the circuit layer F from being etched), and part of the initial substrate E1 is etched by exposure and development to form a second substrate E. Part of the initial substrate E1 can be understood as the part of the initial substrate E1 that is opposite to the hollow area L. In this example, it can be understood that there is no first substrate.
[0155] Referring to FIG. 35 , a conductive pattern layer C80 is formed on a side of the circuit layer F facing away from the substrate BL. The conductive pattern layer C80 includes a plurality of first connecting portions. A third insulating layer C30 is formed on a side of the conductive pattern layer C80 facing away from the substrate BL. The third insulating layer C30 has a notch that exposes portions of the first connecting portions. For example, an exposure process is used to form the notch in the third insulating layer C30.
[0156] Referring to FIG36 , a first connecting line G40 is formed in the hollow region L. The first connecting line G40 is connected to a portion of the first connecting portion. The first connecting portion is the portion of the first connecting portion exposed by the notch. The first connecting line G40 can be manufactured using processes such as inkjet printing, 3D printing, printing, and nanoimprinting.
[0157] Referring to Figure 37 , a lead layer C90 is formed on the side of the third insulating layer C30 facing away from the substrate BL. The lead layer C90 includes multiple lead portions. For a description of the lead layer C90 in the stretchable display panel manufacturing method, refer to the description of the lead layer C90 in the stretchable display panel. The light-emitting device D2 is connected to the lead portions. A barrier adhesive C50 is placed around the light-emitting device D2.
[0158] As shown in Figure 38 , a third flexible protective film P2 is adhered to the side of the first connecting wire G40 away from the circuit layer F via a third optical adhesive layer P1. A portion of the third optical adhesive layer P1 is located within the hollow area L and contacts the first connecting wire G40. This arrangement of the third flexible protective film P2 and third optical adhesive layer P1 maintains the integrity of the stretchable display panel, facilitating removal of the substrate BL. The material of the third flexible protective film P2 can be found in the description of the material of the first flexible protective film. The adhesion of the third optical adhesive layer P1 is weaker than that of the second optical adhesive layer C60, facilitating separation of the third optical adhesive layer P1 from the display structure and the first connecting wire G40.
[0159] Referring to FIG39 , the substrate BL is removed, for example, using laser lift-off technology. The first flexible protective film C10 is attached to the second substrate E of the display structure via a first optical adhesive layer C20. Referring to FIG40 , the third flexible protective film P2 and third optical adhesive layer P1 are removed, for example, using laser lift-off technology. A second flexible protective film C70 is attached to the side of the light-emitting device D2 facing away from the third insulating layer C30 via a second optical adhesive layer C60.
