[0074] The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings showing preferred embodiments of the present invention. However, the present invention may be implemented in different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein. On the contrary, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the present invention to those skilled in the art.
[0075] It will also be understood that when a layer is referred to as being disposed "on," "connected to," or "coupled to" another element, layer, or substrate, it can be directly on the other layer or substrate, or there may be intervening layers. For this purpose, the term "connected" may refer to a physical, electrical, and / or fluid connection with or without intervening elements. Like reference numerals refer to like components throughout the specification.
[0076] Although the terms "first", "second", etc. can be used to describe various elements in this article, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms can be used to distinguish an element from another element. Therefore, without departing from the teaching of one or more embodiments, the first element discussed below can be referred to as the second element. The description of the element as the "first" element may not need or imply the existence of the second element or other elements. The terms "first", "second", etc. can also be used to distinguish different classes or groups of elements. For simplicity, the terms "first", "second", etc. can represent "first class (or first group)", "second class (or second group)", etc. respectively.
[0077] Unless otherwise specified, the embodiments shown should be understood as providing features of varying details of some of the ways in which the present disclosure can be implemented in practice. Therefore, unless otherwise specified, the features, components, modules, layers, films, panels, regions and / or aspects, etc. (hereinafter referred to individually or collectively as "elements") of the various embodiments may be combined, separated, interchanged and / or rearranged in other ways without departing from the scope of the present invention.
[0078] The features of various embodiments of the present invention may be combined in part or in whole. As will be clearly appreciated by those skilled in the art, various interactions and operations are technically possible. Various embodiments can be practiced individually or in combination.
[0079] The use of cross-hatching and / or shading in the drawings is generally provided to clarify the boundaries between adjacent elements. Thus, unless otherwise stated, neither the presence or absence of cross-hatching or shading conveys or indicates any preference or requirement for specific materials, material properties, sizes, proportions, commonalities between the illustrated elements, and / or any other characteristics, attributes, properties, etc. of the elements.
[0080] In addition, in the accompanying drawings, the size and relative size of the elements may be exaggerated for clarity and / or descriptive purposes. When the embodiments may be implemented differently, the specific process sequence may be performed differently from the described sequence. For example, two consecutively described processes may be performed substantially simultaneously or in an order opposite to the described sequence. Moreover, similar reference numerals represent similar elements.
[0081] In addition, the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis are not limited to the three axes of the rectangular coordinate system, and therefore the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis can be interpreted in a broader sense. For example, the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis can be perpendicular to each other, or can represent different directions that are not perpendicular to each other.
[0082] For the purpose of this disclosure, "at least one of X, Y, and Z" and "at least one selected from the group consisting of X, Y, and Z" may be interpreted as only X, only Y, only Z, or any combination of two or more of X, Y, and Z, such as in the form of XYZ, XY, YZ, XZ, or the like. As used herein, the term "and / or" includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items.
[0083] Spatially relative terms, such as "beneath," "below," "under," "lower," "above," "upper," "over," "higher," "side" (e.g., as in "sidewall"), and the like, may be used herein for descriptive purposes and thereby describe the relationship of one element to another element(s) as shown in the accompanying drawings. Spatially relative terms are intended to encompass different orientations of the device in use, operation, and / or manufacture in addition to the orientations depicted in the accompanying drawings. For example, if the device in the accompanying drawings is turned over, an element described as being "below" or "under" other elements or features would subsequently be oriented "above" the other elements or features. Thus, the term "below" is capable of encompassing both above and below orientations. Furthermore, the device may be oriented in other ways (e.g., rotated 90 degrees or at other orientations), and thus, the spatially relative descriptors used herein should be interpreted accordingly.
[0084] The terms used herein are for the purpose of describing specific embodiments and are not intended to be limiting. Unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the singular forms "a", "an" and "the" as used herein are also intended to include the plural forms. In addition, when the terms "comprise", "comprising", "include" and / or "including" are used in this specification, the existence of the stated features, integers, steps, operations, elements, parts and / or clusters thereof is described, but the existence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, parts and / or clusters thereof is not excluded. It should also be noted that, as used herein, the terms "substantially", "about" and other similar terms are used as terms of approximation and not as terms of degree, and thus, are utilized to take into account the inherent deviations of measured values, calculated values and / or provided values that will be recognized by those of ordinary skill in the art.
[0085] Various embodiments are described herein with reference to cross-sectional illustrations and / or exploded illustrations that are schematic illustrations of embodiments and / or intermediate structures. Thus, variations in the shapes of the illustrations due to, for example, manufacturing techniques and / or tolerances are to be expected. Therefore, the embodiments disclosed herein should not necessarily be construed as limited to the specific illustrated shapes of the zones, but rather are to include deviations in shape due to, for example, manufacturing. In this manner, the zones illustrated in the drawings may be schematic in nature, and the shapes of these zones may not reflect the actual shapes of the zones of the device, and thus are not intended to be limiting.
[0086] As is customary in the art, some embodiments are shown and described in the accompanying drawings in terms of functional blocks, units, parts and / or modules. It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that these blocks, units, parts and / or modules are physically implemented by electronic (or optical) circuits (such as logic circuits, discrete components, microprocessors, hard-wired circuits, memory elements, wiring connectors and the like that can be formed using semiconductor-based manufacturing techniques or other manufacturing techniques). In the case of blocks, units, parts and / or modules implemented by microprocessors or other similar hardware, they can be programmed and controlled using software (e.g., microcode) to perform the various functions discussed herein, and can be selectively driven by firmware and / or software. It is also contemplated that each block, unit, part and / or module can be implemented by dedicated hardware, or implemented as a combination of dedicated hardware that performs some functions and a processor that performs other functions (e.g., one or more programmed microprocessors and associated circuits). Moreover, without departing from the scope of the present invention, each block, unit, part and / or module of some embodiments can be physically separated into two or more interactive and discrete blocks, units, parts and / or modules. Furthermore, the blocks, units, sections and / or modules of some embodiments may be physically combined into more complex blocks, units, sections and / or modules without departing from the scope of the present invention.
[0087] Unless otherwise defined or implied herein, all terms (including technical and scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by those skilled in the art to which the present disclosure belongs. It will also be understood that, unless clearly defined as such herein, terms (such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries) should be interpreted as having a meaning consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant technology and the present disclosure, and should not be interpreted in an idealized or overly formal sense.
[0088] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0089] Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a display device according to an embodiment. Figure 2 is a plan view showing a display device according to an embodiment.
[0090] In the examples and with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 2The display device 10 is a device that displays a moving image or a still image, and can be used as a display screen of each of various products such as televisions, laptop computers, monitors, billboards, and Internet of Things (IOT) devices, and portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart phones, tablet personal computers (PCs), smart watches, watch phones, mobile communication terminals, electronic notepads, electronic books, portable multimedia players (PMPs), navigation devices, and ultra mobile PCs (UMPCs). The display device 10 may be any one of an organic light emitting display device, a liquid crystal display device, a plasma display device, a field emission display device, an electrophoretic display device, an electrowetting display device, a quantum dot light emitting display device, and a micro LED display device. In the following, it is mainly described that the display device 10 is an organic light emitting display device, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0091] In an embodiment, the display device 10 may include a display panel 100 , a display driving circuit 250 , a circuit board 300 , and a touch driving circuit 400 .
[0092] In an embodiment, the display panel 100 may include a plurality of pixels PX arranged in a first direction DR1 and a second direction DR2. Each of the pixels PX may have a planar shape such as a rectangle, a square, or a rhombus. For example, as shown in the drawings, each of the pixels PX may have a planar shape such as a square. However, each of the pixels PX is not limited thereto and may have various shapes such as another polygon, a circle, and an ellipse in a plan view.
[0093] In the drawings shown, the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2 are each horizontal directions and intersect each other. For example, the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2 may be orthogonal to each other. In addition, the third direction DR3 may be a vertical direction intersecting with the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2 (for example, orthogonal to the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2).
[0094] In an embodiment, the display panel 100 may include a main area MA and a protrusion area PA protruding from one side of the main area MA.
[0095] In an embodiment, the main area MA may be formed as a rectangular plane having short sides in a first direction DR1 and long sides in a second direction DR2 intersecting the first direction DR1. Corners where the short sides in the first direction DR1 and the long sides in the second direction DR2 intersect may be rounded to have a predetermined curvature or may be formed at right angles. The planar shape of the display device 10 is not limited to a quadrilateral shape, and may be formed in other polygonal, circular, or elliptical shapes. The main area MA may be formed to be flat, but is not limited thereto, and may include curved surface portions formed at the left and right ends. In this case, the curved surface portion may have a constant curvature or a varying curvature.
[0096] In an embodiment, the main area MA may include a display area DA where pixels PX are formed to display an image and a non-display area NDA which is a peripheral area of the display area DA.
[0097] In an embodiment, not only pixels PX but also scan lines, data lines, and power lines connected to the pixels PX may be arranged in the display area DA. When the main area MA includes a curved surface portion, the display area DA may be arranged on the curved surface portion. In this case, an image of the display panel 100 may be observed even on the curved surface portion.
[0098] In an embodiment, the non-display area NDA may be defined as a region from the outside of the display area DA to the edge of the display panel 100. A scan driver for applying a scan signal to a scan line and a link line connecting a data line with the display driving circuit 250 may be arranged in the non-display area NDA.
[0099] In an embodiment, the protruding area PA may protrude from one side of the main area MA. Figure 2 As shown in , the protrusion area PA may protrude from the lower side of the main area MA. A length of the protrusion area PA in the first direction DR1 may be smaller than a length of the main area MA in the first direction DR1.
[0100] In an embodiment, the protruding area PA may include a bending area BA and a pad area PDA. In this case, the pad area PDA may be arranged on one side of the bending area BA, and the main area MA may be arranged on the other side of the bending area BA. For example, the pad area PDA may be arranged on the lower side of the bending area BA, and the main area MA may be arranged on the upper side of the bending area BA.
[0101] In an embodiment, the display panel 100 may be flexibly formed to be bent, curved, folded, or curled. Therefore, the display panel 100 may be bent in the thickness direction (i.e., in the third direction DR3) in the bending area BA. In this case, before the display panel 100 is bent, one surface of the pad area PDA of the display panel 100 faces upward, but after the display panel 100 is bent, one surface of the pad area PDA of the display panel 100 faces downward. As a result, since the pad area PDA is arranged on the lower side of the main area MA, the pad area PDA may overlap the main area MA.
[0102] In an embodiment, pads electrically connected to the display driving circuit 250 and the circuit board 300 may be arranged in the pad area PDA of the display panel 100 .
[0103] In an embodiment, the display driving circuit 250 outputs a signal and a voltage for driving the display panel 100. For example, the display driving circuit 250 may supply a data voltage to a data line. In addition, the display driving circuit 250 may supply a power voltage to a power line and supply a scan control signal to a scan driver. The display driving circuit 250 may be formed as an integrated circuit (IC) and attached to the display panel 100 in a pad area PDA using a chip on glass (COG) method, a chip on plastic (COP) method, or an ultrasonic bonding method, but is not limited thereto. For example, the display driving circuit 250 may be mounted on a circuit board 300.
[0104] In an embodiment, the pads may include a display pad electrically connected to the display driving circuit 250 and a touch pad electrically connected to the touch line.
[0105] In an embodiment, the circuit board 300 may be attached to the pad using an anisotropic conductive film. Accordingly, the leads of the circuit board 300 may be electrically connected to the pad. The circuit board 300 may be a flexible printed circuit board, a rigid printed circuit board, or a flexible film such as a chip on film.
[0106] In an embodiment, the touch driving circuit 400 may be connected to the touch sensor layer TSU (see FIG. 1 ) of the display panel 100. Figure 3 ) of the touch electrode. The touch driving circuit 400 applies a driving signal to the touch sensor layer TSU (see Figure 3 ) and measures the capacitance value of the touch electrode. The driving signal may be a signal having a plurality of driving pulses. The touch driving circuit 400 may not only determine whether there is a touch input based on the capacitance value but also calculate the touch coordinates of the input touch.
[0107] In an embodiment, the touch driving circuit 400 may be disposed on the circuit board 300. The touch driving circuit 400 may be formed as an integrated circuit (IC) and mounted on the circuit board 300.
[0108] In an embodiment, in the display device 10 , the display panel 100 may further include a light control layer LCL.
[0109] In an embodiment, the light control layer LCL may be directly disposed in the main area MA of the display panel 100. For example, the light control layer LCL may be embedded in the display panel 100 and directly disposed on the main area MA of the display panel 100. As the light control layer LCL is embedded in the display panel 100, the thickness and manufacturing cost of the display device 10 may be reduced compared to when a separate light control film is attached.
[0110] In some embodiments, the light control layer LCL may be disposed on the display area DA of the main area MA. The light control layer LCL may control a viewing angle of light emitted from the display panel 100.
[0111] However, in an embodiment, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the size of the light control layer LCL may be greater than that of the display area DA in a plan view. In this case, the light control layer LCL may overlap both the display area DA and the non-display area NDA.
[0112] In some embodiments, Figure 1 and Figure 2 As shown in FIG, the light control layer LCL may include a transmission area OA and a non-transmission area LSA.
[0113] In the embodiment, the transmission area OA may be a region where a plurality of light blocking films LS are not arranged (see Figure 7 The transmission area OA, which is a region for transmitting light, may extend in the third direction DR3.
[0114] In an embodiment, Figure 1 and Figure 2 As shown in , the transmission area OA may have a quadrilateral shape in a plan view, but is not limited thereto. Each of the transmission areas OA may have a circular, elliptical, or another polygonal shape in a plan view. In some embodiments, the shape of the transmission area OA may substantially correspond to the shape of the display panel 100.
[0115] In an embodiment, the non-transmission area LSA may be a remaining area of the light control layer LCL excluding the transmission area OA. The non-transmission area LSA may be an area where a plurality of light blocking films LS (see Figure 7 ) area.
[0116] In some embodiments, the non-transmission area LSA may extend in the first direction DR1 or the second direction DR2. Figure 1 , the non-transmission area LSA may extend in the first direction DR1 and be arranged along the second direction DR2. In another embodiment, the non-transmission area LSA may extend in the second direction DR2 and be arranged along the first direction DR1. In yet another embodiment, some of the non-transmission areas LSA may extend in the first direction DR1 and be arranged along the second direction DR2, and the remaining portions of the non-transmission areas LSA may extend in the second direction DR2 and be arranged along the first direction DR1.
[0117] In an embodiment, Figure 2 As shown in , when the non-transmission area LSA is arranged along the second direction DR2, the viewing angle can be controlled in the second direction DR2. In another embodiment, when the non-transmission area LSA is arranged along the first direction DR1, the viewing angle can be controlled in the first direction DR1. In the display device 10 according to the embodiment, the arrangement and shape of the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA can be variously changed according to the desired viewing angle control direction.

In some embodiments, the transmission area OA extends in the same direction as the non-transmission area LSA so that the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA can be arranged alternately. For example, in the embodiment, Figure 1 As shown in , when the non-transmission areas LSA extend in the first direction DR1 , the transmission areas OA may extend in the first direction DR1 and may be alternately arranged with the non-transmission areas LSA in the second direction DR2 .
[0119] In some embodiments, the display device 10 may further include a bridge BLG.
[0120] In an embodiment, the bridge BLG may be arranged between the non-transmission areas LSA. For example, as shown in the drawings, when the non-transmission areas LSA are arranged in the second direction DR2, the bridge BLG may be arranged between the non-transmission areas LSA in the second direction DR2.
[0121] In an embodiment, the bridge BLG may extend in a direction different from the non-transmission area LSA. For example, as shown in the drawings, when the non-transmission area LSA extends in the first direction DR1, the bridge BLG may extend in the second direction DR2.

The display panel 100 may include a base member BS, a thin film transistor layer TFTL, a light emitting element layer EML, a thin film encapsulation layer TFEL, a touch sensor layer TSU, and a light control layer LCL.
[0126] In an embodiment, the base member BS may include a substrate. The substrate may be made of an insulating material such as glass, quartz or a polymer resin. Examples of polymer materials may include polyethersulfone (PES), polyacrylate (PA), polyarylate (PAR), polyetherimide (PEI), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyacrylate, polyimide (PI), polycarbonate (PC), cellulose triacetate (CAT), cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) or a combination thereof. In another embodiment, the substrate may also include a metal material.
[0127] In an embodiment, the substrate may be a rigid substrate, or may be a flexible substrate that can be bent, folded, and rolled. When the substrate is a flexible substrate, the substrate may be formed of polyimide (PI), but is not limited thereto.
[0128] In an embodiment, a thin film transistor layer TFTL may be disposed on a base member BS. Scan lines, data lines, power lines, scan control lines, and routing lines (e.g., link lines) connecting pads and data lines, as well as thin film transistors of each pixel may be formed in the thin film transistor layer TFTL. Each of the thin film transistors may include a gate electrode, a semiconductor layer, a source electrode, and a drain electrode.
[0129] In an embodiment, the thin film transistor layer TFTL may be arranged in the display area DA and the non-display area NDA. Specifically, the thin film transistor, the scan line, the data line, and the power line of each of the pixels of the thin film transistor layer TFTL may be arranged in the display area DA. The scan control line and the link line of the thin film transistor layer TFTL may be arranged in the non-display area NDA.
[0130] In an embodiment, the light emitting element layer EML may be disposed on the thin film transistor layer TFTL. The light emitting element layer EML may include a first electrode (eg, Figure 4 , a first light emitting electrode 171 shown in FIG. 1 ), a light emitting layer, and a second electrode (eg, Figure 4 The second light emitting electrode 173 shown in FIG. 1 ) and a pixel defining film (eg, Figure 4 The dam 190 shown in FIG. 1 ). The light-emitting layer may be an organic light-emitting layer including an organic material. To this end, the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL may include at least one inorganic film. The inorganic film may be a silicon nitride layer, a silicon oxynitride layer, a silicon oxide layer, a titanium oxide layer, or an aluminum oxide layer, but is not limited thereto. In addition, the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL may be used to protect the light emitting element layer EML from foreign matter such as dust. To this end, the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL may include at least one organic film. The organic film may be made of an acrylic resin, an epoxy resin, a phenolic resin, a polyamide resin, or a polyimide resin, but is not limited thereto.
[0132] In an embodiment, the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL may be arranged in both the display area DA and the non-display area NDA. Specifically, the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL may be arranged to cover the light emitting element layer EML of the display area DA and the thin film transistor layer TFTL of the display area DA and the non-display area NDA.
[0133] In an embodiment, the touch sensor layer TSU may be disposed on the thin film encapsulation layer TFEL. [0134] In an embodiment, the touch sensor layer TSU may include a touch electrode for capacitively sensing a user's touch and a touch line connecting a pad with the touch electrode. For example, the touch sensor layer TSU may sense a user's touch in a self-capacitance method or a mutual-capacitance method.
[0135] In an embodiment, the touch electrodes of the touch sensor layer TSU may be arranged in a touch sensor area overlapping the display area DA. The touch wires of the touch sensor layer TSU may be arranged in a touch peripheral area overlapping the non-display area NDA.
[0136] In an embodiment, the light control layer LCL may be arranged on the touch sensor layer TSU. The light control layer LCL may be arranged to overlap the display area DA. The light control layer LCL may be used to absorb or block light emitted from the light emitting element layer EML that travels at more than a certain angle relative to the third direction DR3. That is, the light control layer LCL may control the viewing angle.
[0137] In an embodiment, although not shown in the drawings, the display device 10 may further include a cover window. The cover window may be additionally arranged on the light control layer LCL. In this case, the light control layer LCL and the cover window may be attached by a transparent adhesive member such as an optically clear adhesive (OCA) film.

[0141] In an embodiment, the first substrate SUB1 and the second substrate SUB2 may be made of an insulating material such as glass, quartz or a polymer resin. Examples of polymer materials may include polyethersulfone (PES), polyacrylate (PA), polyarylate (PAR), polyetherimide (PEI), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyacrylate, polyimide (PI), polycarbonate (PC), cellulose triacetate (CAT), cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) or a combination thereof. [0145] In an embodiment, the lower metal layer BML may be arranged on the second substrate SUB2. The lower metal layer BML may be arranged to overlap with the first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1 in the third direction DR3 to prevent leakage current from occurring when light is incident on the first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1. The lower metal layer BML may be formed as a single layer or a multilayer made of any one of molybdenum (Mo), aluminum (Al), chromium (Cr), gold (Au), titanium (Ti), nickel (Ni), neodymium (Nd), and copper (Cu), or an alloy thereof. The lower metal layer BML may be omitted.
[0146] In an embodiment, the second buffer film BF2 may be disposed on the lower metal layer BML. The second buffer film BF2 is a film for protecting the first thin film transistor ST1 and the light emitting layer 172 from moisture penetrating through the first substrate SUB1 and the second substrate SUB2 that are easily permeable to moisture. The second buffer film BF2 may be formed of a plurality of inorganic layers alternately stacked. For example, the second buffer film BF2 may be formed of a multi-film in which one or more inorganic films of a silicon nitride layer, a silicon oxynitride layer, a silicon oxide layer, a titanium oxide layer, and an aluminum oxide layer are alternately stacked.
[0147] In an embodiment, the first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1 may be arranged on the second buffer film BF2. The first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1 includes polycrystalline silicon (e.g., low temperature polycrystalline silicon), single crystal silicon, amorphous silicon, or an oxide semiconductor. The first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1 that is exposed and not covered by the first gate insulating film GI1 may be doped with impurities or ions to have conductivity. Therefore, the first source electrode TS1 and the first drain electrode TD1 of the first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1 may be formed.
[0148] In an embodiment, the first gate insulating film GI1 may be disposed on the first active layer ACT1 of the first thin film transistor ST1. [0190] In an embodiment, the second instrument cluster DB2 may provide information of the first instrument cluster DB1 and the third instrument cluster DB3 to a passenger in a passenger seat. As an example, the second instrument cluster DB2 may include a passenger display.
[0191] In an embodiment, the center console CCS may be arranged below the third instrument panel DB3. The center console CCS may be arranged between the driver's seat and the passenger seat. Although not shown in the drawings, the display device 10 may also be arranged on the center console CCS.
[0192] In an embodiment, the center console CCS may include various functional components for controlling the driving method of the vehicle, such as a shift lever, a parking brake, and a driving mode manipulation button. In the embodiment, the shift lever and the like are analog types operated by physical manipulation as an example, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, when the display device 10 arranged on the center console CCS includes an input device such as a touch panel, the shift lever and the like may also be a digital type operated by a manipulation button output on the display device 10.
[0193] In an embodiment, the information provided from the first dashboard DB1, the second dashboard DB2, the third dashboard DB3, and the center console CCS is not limited to being provided by any one of the first dashboard DB1, the second dashboard DB2, the third dashboard DB3, and the center console CCS, and the information provided from any one of the first dashboard DB1, the second dashboard DB2, the third dashboard DB3, and the center console CCS may also be provided from other configurations.
[0194] In an embodiment, the electronic device 1 may provide various information to the user through the display device 10 arranged on the first dashboard DB1, the second dashboard DB2, and the third dashboard DB3 and the center console CCS, or may manipulate other configurations included in the electronic device 1 based on information input by the user through the display device 10.
[0195] In an embodiment, a windshield W may be arranged above the dashboard DB. The windshield W may protect a driver and passengers from external impacts and provide visibility for the driver.
[0196] Figure 6 is a plan view showing an example of a display device according to the embodiment.
[0197] In the examples and with reference to Figure 5 and Figure 6 , the display area DA of the display device 10 may include a first display area DA1, a second display area DA2, and a third display area DA3.
[0198] In an embodiment, the first display area DA1 may be arranged on the first dashboard DB1, the second display area DA2 may be arranged on the second dashboard DB2, and the third display area DA3 may be arranged on the third dashboard DB3. The first display area DA1, the second display area DA2, and the third display area DA3 may include a first pixel PX1, a second pixel PX2, and a third pixel PX3.
[0199] In an embodiment, the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2, and the third pixel PX3 may each include a normal mode area NEA (e.g., a first light emitting mode area) and a privacy mode area PEA (e.g., a second light emitting mode area). In the drawings, the normal mode area NEA is shown as being arranged on the privacy mode area PEA, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0200] In an embodiment, when a user drives the display device 10 in a normal mode, the light emitting elements arranged in the normal mode area NEA may emit light, and the light emitting elements arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may not emit light. When a user drives the display device 10 in a privacy mode, the light emitting elements arranged in the normal mode area NEA may not emit light, and the light emitting elements arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may emit light.
[0201] In the examples and with reference to Figure 6 , the first pixel PX1 of the first display area DA1 and the third pixel PX3 of the third display area DA3 operate in the normal mode and the second pixel PX2 of the second display area DA2 operates in the privacy mode is shown as an example.
[0202] In an embodiment, in a conventional display device 10, some of the light emitted from the display device 10 may be reflected on the surrounding windshield W and provided to the driver. In this case, the image displayed on the windshield W may interfere with the driver's driving. In addition, some of the light emitted from the first display area DA1 in front of the driver's seat moves toward the passenger seat, or some of the light emitted from the second display area DA2 in front of the passenger seat may move toward the driver's seat. In this case, the display device 10 may not be conducive to privacy protection.
[0203] In an embodiment and referring to the display device 10, the driver can recognize (or visually recognize) the display screen of the display device 10 through the light emitted from the normal mode area NEA or the privacy mode area PEA. In this case, the display device 10 can adjust the viewing angle of the light emitted from the display device 10 in the front direction (direction directly facing the driver).
[0204] In the embodiment, since the longitudinal viewing angle is adjusted in the normal mode area NEA, it is possible to prevent in advance the first light LGT1 emitted from the normal mode area NEA from being reflected on the surrounding windshield W and provided to the driver.
[0205] In an embodiment, since the lateral viewing angle is adjusted in the privacy mode area PEA, privacy protection can be enhanced by preventing the second light LGT2 emitted from the privacy mode area PEA of the first display area DA1 in front of the driver's seat from being provided to the passenger or preventing the second light LGT2 emitted from the privacy mode area PEA of the second display area DA2 in front of the passenger seat from being provided to the driver.
[0206] In an embodiment, the viewing angle can be controlled by the light control layer LCL (see Figure 7 ) can be adjusted. The viewing angle can be adjusted by the light control layer LCL (see Figure 7) is limited to a predetermined angle range. As an example, when a virtual line extending in a direction (e.g., the third direction DR3) facing the driver in front and perpendicular to the display surface of the display device 10 is taken as a normal line, the viewing angle may be an angle within about 35° from the normal line. In some embodiments, an angle within about 35° from the normal line may be defined as an effective viewing angle, but is not limited thereto.
[0207] Figure 7 is a plan view showing a pixel and a light control layer of a display device according to an embodiment. Figure 8 According to the embodiment Figure 7 A cross-sectional view taken along line X2-X2'. Fig. 9 According to the embodiment Figure 7 A cross-sectional view taken along line X3-X3'.
[0208] In the examples and with reference to Figures 7 to 9 Each pixel PX may include a plurality of light emitting areas EA. The light emitting area EA may be an area where light generated from a light emitting element is emitted to the outside.
[0209] In an embodiment, a plurality of light emitting areas EA may be defined by the dam 190. For example, the plurality of light emitting areas EA may be areas overlapping the light emitting layer 172 disposed within the opening of the dam 190. The light emitting area EA may be an area where the first light emitting electrode 171, the light emitting layer 172, and the second light emitting electrode 173 overlap each other while being sequentially stacked.
[0210] In some embodiments, the plurality of light emitting areas EA may include a normal mode area NEA and a privacy mode area PEA. The normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA may include first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3.
[0211] In the embodiment, the normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA are shown as each including three types of light emitting areas EA, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA may each include less than or more than three types of light emitting areas EA. In addition, it is shown in the drawings that the normal mode area NEA includes one first light emitting area NEA1, one second light emitting area NEA2, and one third light emitting area NEA3, and the privacy mode area PEA includes one first light emitting area PEA1, one second light emitting area PEA2, and two third light emitting areas PEA3, but the present invention is not limited to this.
[0212] In some embodiments, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1 may emit light of a first color, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2 may emit light of a second color, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may emit light of a third color. The light of the first color may be light in a red wavelength band, the light of the second color may be light in a green wavelength band, and the light of the third color may be light in a blue wavelength band. The red wavelength band may be a wavelength band of about 600 nm to about 750 nm, the green wavelength band may be a wavelength band of about 480 nm to about 560 nm, and the blue wavelength band may be a wavelength band of about 370 nm to about 460 nm, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0213] The first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may each have a rectangular, square, or diamond plane shape. For example, as shown in the drawings, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may have a rectangular shape, but are not limited thereto.
[0214] In an embodiment, the areas of the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may be different from each other. For example, as in the normal mode area NEA in the drawings, the area of the third light emitting area NEA3 may be larger than the areas of the first light emitting area NEA1 and the second light emitting area NEA2, but is not limited thereto.
[0215] In another embodiment, the areas of the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may be the same as each other. For example, as in the privacy mode area PEA in the drawings, the areas of the first light emitting area PEA1, the second light emitting area PEA2, and the third light emitting area PEA3 may be the same as each other, but are not limited thereto.
[0216] In an embodiment, not limited to what is shown in the drawings, the areas of the first light emitting area NEA1, the second light emitting area NEA2, and the third light emitting area NEA3 in the normal mode area NEA may be the same as each other, and the areas of the first light emitting area PEA1, the second light emitting area PEA2, and the third light emitting area PEA3 in the privacy mode area PEA may be different from each other.
[0217] In some embodiments, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may be arranged side by side along the first direction DR1. For example, in the normal mode area NEA, the first light emitting area NEA1, the second light emitting area NEA2, and the third light emitting area NEA3 may be arranged in sequence along the first direction DR1, and in the privacy mode area PEA, the first light emitting area PEA1, the second light emitting area PEA2, and the third light emitting area PEA3 may be arranged in sequence along the first direction DR1.
[0218] In another embodiment, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may be arranged side by side along the second direction DR2. In yet another embodiment, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may also be arranged to overlap in both the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2. That is, the arrangement of the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may be modified in various ways.
[0219] In the embodiment, a case where the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 are arranged side by side in the first direction DR1 will be described as an example.
[0220] In an embodiment, the light emitting area EA may overlap the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the third direction DR3. For example, the first light emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3 may overlap the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the third direction DR3.
[0221] In an embodiment, the transmission area OA may be an area where the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the light control layer LCL are not disposed, and the non-transmission area LSA may be an area where the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the light control layer LCL are disposed.
[0222] In the drawings, the embodiment is shown as an example in which the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the normal mode area NEA extend in the first direction DR1 and the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the privacy mode area PEA extend in the second direction DR2. The directions in which the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA extend are not limited thereto, but for convenience of explanation, the case in which the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the normal mode area NEA extend in the first direction DR1 and the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA in the privacy mode area PEA extend in the second direction DR2 will be described as an example.
[0223] In some embodiments, the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA may extend in the first direction DR1 in the normal mode area NEA and may be arranged to alternate with each other in the second direction DR2. In the privacy mode area PEA, the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA may extend in the second direction DR2 and may be arranged to alternate with each other in the first direction DR1.
[0224] In an embodiment, Figure 8 and Fig. 9 As shown in , the light control layer LCL may be arranged on the display layer DU or the touch sensor layer TSU. The light control layer LCL may control the viewing angle of light emitted from the light emitting layer 172. For example, when the light emitted from the light emitting layer 172 travels at a predetermined angle or less with respect to the third direction DR3, the light may be emitted to the outside. On the other hand, when the light emitted from the light emitting layer 172 travels at more than a predetermined angle with respect to the third direction DR3, the light may be absorbed or blocked by the plurality of light blocking films LS and not emitted to the outside.
[0225] In an embodiment, the light control layer LCL may include a light transparent film LT and a plurality of light blocking films LS.
[0226] In an embodiment, a plurality of light-blocking films LS may be arranged on the touch sensor layer TSU. A plurality of light-blocking films LS may be arranged in the non-transmission area LSA. The plurality of light-blocking films LS may absorb or block light emitted from the light-emitting layer 172. The plurality of light-blocking films LS may include a light-blocking organic material. For example, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may include an organic material including an organic black pigment such as carbon black as a photosensitive resin capable of absorbing or blocking light.
[0227] In an embodiment, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may extend in different directions in the normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA. For example, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may extend in a first direction DR1 in the normal mode area NEA, and may extend in a second direction DR2 in the privacy mode area PEA. The plurality of light-blocking films LS may include a plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS arranged in the normal mode area NEA and extending in the first direction DR1, and a plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS arranged in the privacy mode area PEA and extending in the second direction DR2.
[0228] In the present specification, the lateral direction and the longitudinal direction of multiple lateral light-blocking films HLS and multiple longitudinal light-blocking films VLS may refer to the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2 in the drawings, but for the convenience of explanation, this is only illustrated as an example, and in an embodiment, the extension direction of the multiple light-blocking films LS is not limited to the lateral direction and the longitudinal direction.
[0229] In an embodiment, in the normal mode area NEA, a plurality of transverse light blocking films HLS may be arranged to be spaced apart from each other in the second direction DR2 , and in the privacy mode area PEA, a plurality of longitudinal light blocking films VLS may be arranged to be spaced apart from each other in the first direction DR1 .
[0230] In an embodiment, the display device 10 (for example, referring to Figure 6 ) The longitudinal viewing angle and the lateral viewing angle may be adjusted and changed according to a driving type by including a plurality of light-blocking films LS extending in different directions in the normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA.
[0231] In some embodiments, Figure 7 As shown in FIG. 1 , at a boundary between the normal mode area NEA and the privacy mode area PEA, a plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and a plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS may be connected to each other, but are not limited thereto.
[0232] In an embodiment, the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged on the display layer DU or the touch sensor layer TSU. The light-transmitting film LT may be arranged in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The light-transmitting film LT may transmit the light emitted from the light-emitting layer 172. The light-transmitting film LT may include a transparent organic material. For example, the light-transmitting film LT may be an organic film made of acryl resin, epoxy resin, phenol resin, polyamide resin, polyimide resin, or the like. In another embodiment, the light-transmitting film LT may include silicon oxynitride or silicon oxide.
[0233] In some embodiments, the light-transmitting film LT may extend in the first direction DR1 in the normal mode area NEA, and may extend in the second direction DR2 in the privacy mode area PEA. For example, the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged between a plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS in the normal mode area NEA, and may be arranged between a plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS in the privacy mode area PEA.
[0234] In some embodiments, as described later in methods S1 and S2 for manufacturing a display device (see Fig.18 and Fig.26 ), by first applying a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS to perform patterning and then applying a material for forming a light-transmitting film LT, the light-transmitting film LT may be formed later than the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0235] In an embodiment, the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may have excellent characteristics compared to a case where a material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is first applied and patterned and then a material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS is applied. For example, by first applying a material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS to perform patterning and then applying the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT, the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be formed to be close to about 90 degrees, or may be formed in a positive tapered shape with an upper portion narrower than a lower portion. Since the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS are formed to be close to about 90 degrees or in a positive tapered shape with an upper portion narrower than a lower portion, viewing angle control and brightness characteristics may be improved.
[0236] In addition, when the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is first applied and patterned and then the material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS is applied, an additional polishing process (such as a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process) needs to be performed to remove the plurality of light-blocking films LS excessively applied to the upper surface of the light-transmitting film LT. On the other hand, as in the display device 10, when the material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS is first applied to perform patterning and then the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is applied, process efficiency can be improved because the light-transmitting film LT excessively applied to the plurality of light-blocking films LS does not need to be removed.
[0237] In an embodiment, Figure 8 and Fig. 9 As shown in , the light-transmitting film LT may include a first portion LTa and a second portion LTb.
[0238] In an embodiment, the first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged between the plurality of light-blocking films LS. The first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged in the transmission area OA. For example, the first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT may be positioned at the same height as the plurality of light-blocking films LS in the third direction DR3. The height of the first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT may be the same as the height of the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0239] In an embodiment, the second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged on the plurality of light-blocking films LS and the first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT. The second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may be arranged on the entire surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS and the first portion LTa of the light-transmitting film LT.
[0240] In an embodiment, when a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS is first applied to perform patterning as described above and then a material for forming a light-transmitting film LT is applied, when the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is excessively applied onto the plurality of light-blocking films LS, a second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may be formed. In another embodiment, the second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may also be omitted.
[0241] In an embodiment, the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be smaller than the distances HLS_D and VLS_D between the plurality of light-blocking films LS. The distances HLS_D and VLS_D between the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be about 2 times to about 10 times the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS. For example, the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be about 1 μm to about 20 μm, and the distances HLS_D and VLS_D between the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be about 5 μm to about 100 μm, but are not limited thereto.
[0242] In an embodiment, the width HLS_W of the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the width VLS_W of the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS may be variously modified according to the arrangement of pixels (e.g., according to the arrangement of the first light-emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light-emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light-emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3). For example, as shown in the drawings, the width HLS_W of the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the width VLS_W of the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS are shown to be the same, but are not limited thereto.
[0243] In an embodiment, the distance HLS_D between the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the distance VLS_D between the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS may be variously modified according to the arrangement of pixels (e.g., according to the arrangement of the first light-emitting areas NEA1 and PEA1, the second light-emitting areas NEA2 and PEA2, and the third light-emitting areas NEA3 and PEA3). For example, the distance HLS_D between the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS is shown to be greater than the distance VLS_D between the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS, but is not limited thereto.
[0244] In an embodiment, Figure 8 and Fig. 9As shown in , the heights HLS_H and VLS_H of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be greater than the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS. For example, the heights HLS_H and VLS_H of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be about 5 times to about 20 times the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS. As the heights HLS_H and VLS_H of the plurality of light-blocking films LS increase, the viewing angle control characteristics of the display device 10 may be improved, and as the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of light-blocking films LS become narrower, the brightness of the display device 10 may be improved.
[0245] Other embodiments of the display device will be described. In the following embodiments, the same components as those of the above-described embodiments will be denoted by the same reference numerals, and duplicate descriptions thereof will be omitted or simplified, and differences will be mainly described.
[0246] Fig.10 is a plan view showing a pixel and a light control layer of a display device according to another embodiment.
[0247] In the examples and with reference to Fig.10 , the display device 10 and the reference Figure 7 The display device 10 of the embodiment described above is different in that the plurality of light-blocking films LS further include a bridge BLG.
[0248] More specifically, in an embodiment, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may further include a bridge BLG. That is, the light-controlling layer LCL may include a plurality of light-blocking films LS and a bridge BLG.
[0249] In an embodiment, the bridge BLG may support a plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and a plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS. In some embodiments, the bridge BLG may include the same material as the plurality of light-blocking films LS. For example, the bridge BLG may include the same material as the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS. The bridge BLG may be connected between the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and between the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS. For example, the bridge BLG may include a longitudinal bridge VBL connected between the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and a transverse bridge HBL connected between the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS.
[0250] In this specification, the lateral direction and longitudinal direction of the lateral bridge HBL and the longitudinal bridge VBL may refer to the first direction DR1 and the second direction DR2 in the drawings, but for the convenience of explanation, this is only explained as an example, and the extension direction of the bridge BLG is not limited to the lateral direction and the longitudinal direction.
[0251] In an embodiment, in the normal mode area NEA, the longitudinal bridge VBL may extend in the second direction DR2 .The longitudinal bridge VBL may connect a plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the second direction DR2 .
[0252] In an embodiment, in the privacy mode area PEA, the transverse bridge HBL may extend in the first direction DR1 . The transverse bridge HBL may connect a plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the first direction DR1 .
[0253] In an embodiment, the display device 10 includes the bridge BLG to prevent the plurality of light blocking films LS from collapsing during the patterning process of the plurality of light blocking films LS in the methods S1 and S2 for manufacturing the display device described later. Figure 8 and Fig. 9 As described above, the width of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be very small compared to the height of the plurality of light-blocking films LS. Therefore, when a material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is applied, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may collapse in a direction different from the direction in which they extend due to the thin width compared to the height. In the display device 10 according to the embodiment, the plurality of light-blocking films LS include a bridge BLG, thereby preventing the plurality of light-blocking films LS from collapsing.
[0254] In an embodiment, in the display device 10, the bridge BLG may not overlap with the light emitting area EA. Accordingly, the brightness of the display device 10 may be improved, and the viewing angle characteristics of the display device 10 may be improved. For example, as the bridge BLG does not overlap with the light emitting area EA, a decrease in brightness in the first direction DR1 in the normal mode area NEA may be prevented, and a decrease in brightness in the second direction DR2 in the privacy mode area PEA may be prevented.
[0255] In an embodiment, the widths VBL_W and HBL_W of the longitudinal bridge VBL and the transverse bridge HBL may be different from the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS. For example, the widths VBL_W and HBL_W of the longitudinal bridge VBL and the transverse bridge HBL may be greater than the widths HLS_W and VLS_W of the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS. Accordingly, while minimizing the reduction in the brightness of the display device 10, the supporting force of the longitudinal bridge VBL and the transverse bridge HBL relative to the plurality of transverse light-blocking films HLS and the plurality of longitudinal light-blocking films VLS may be increased.
[0256] Fig.11 is a plan view showing a pixel and a light control layer of a display device according to still another embodiment.
[0257] In the examples and with reference to Fig.11 , the display device 10 and the reference Fig.10 The display device 10 of another embodiment described is different in that the shape and arrangement of the bridges BLG are different.
[0258] In the embodiment and more specifically in the display device 10, the bridge BLG may include sub-bridges. For example, the vertical bridge VBL may include first and second sub-vertical bridges SVBL1 and SVBL2, and the horizontal bridge HBL may include first and second sub-horizontal bridges.
[0259] In the embodiment, although the first sub-transverse bridge and the second sub-transverse bridge are not shown in the drawings, the first sub-transverse bridge and the second sub-transverse bridge can be implemented according to the same technical concept as the first sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL2. Therefore, the first sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL2 will be mainly described.
[0260] In an embodiment, the first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may be disposed between two transverse light-blocking films HLS, respectively. The first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may connect two different transverse light-blocking films HLS, respectively.
[0261] In an embodiment, the first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 may be arranged between the 2n-1th light-blocking film and the 2nth light-blocking film, and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may be arranged between the 2nth light-blocking film and the 2n+1th light-blocking film. The first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 may be connected between the 2n-1th light-blocking film and the 2nth light-blocking film, and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may be connected between the 2nth light-blocking film and the 2n+1th light-blocking film.
[0262] In another embodiment, the first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 may be arranged between the odd-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS and the even-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS, and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may be arranged between the even-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS and the odd-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS. The first sub-vertical bridge SVBL1 may be connected between the odd-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS and the even-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS, and the second sub-vertical bridge SVBL2 may be connected between the even-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS and the odd-numbered transverse light-blocking film HLS.
[0263] In an embodiment, the first sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL2 may not overlap with each other. For example, the first sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL1 may be arranged between the first light emitting area NEA1 and the second light emitting area NEA2 of the normal mode area NEA. The second sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL2 may be arranged between the second light emitting area NEA2 and the third light emitting area NEA3 of the normal mode area NEA. Therefore, the first sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL1 and the second sub-longitudinal bridge SVBL2 may not overlap with each other in each of the first direction DR1, the second direction DR2, and the third direction DR3.
[0264] Figures 12 to 15is a plan view showing a pixel and a light control layer of a display device according to still another embodiment.
[0265] In the examples and with reference to Figures 12 to 15 The display device 10 is based on the above reference Figure 7 , Fig.10 and Fig.11 The display device 10 of the embodiment described in the above description is different in that the plurality of light blocking films LS include removal marks.
[0266] In an embodiment and more specifically, the plurality of light blocking films LS may include a removal mark. The removal mark may be a mark indicating when the light blocking film LS is removed. Fig.10 and Fig.11 The bridge BLG in the embodiment is a mark left on the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0267] In an embodiment, as in Fig.12 In the embodiment of the present invention, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may include a recessed portion CCV as a removal mark. The recessed portion CCV may be used in the method S1 and S2 for manufacturing a display device (see Fig.18 and Fig.26 ) is formed by over-etching during the process of removing the bridge BLG, which will be described later.
[0268] In another embodiment, as in Fig.13 In the embodiment of the present invention, the plurality of light blocking films LS may include a protruding portion CVX as a removal mark. The protruding portion CVX is formed by the bridge BLG in the method S1 and S2 for manufacturing a display device (see Fig.18 and Fig.26 ) is formed by a portion that is not etched during the process of removing the bridge BLG, which will be described later.
[0269] In an embodiment, Fig.12 As shown in , the plurality of light-blocking films LS may each include a recessed portion CCV on at least one of the two surfaces thereof. For example, the recessed portion CCV of each of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the normal mode area NEA may face the recessed portion CCV of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged to be adjacent to each other in the second direction DR2. The recessed portion CCV of each of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may face the recessed portion CCV of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged to be adjacent to each other in the first direction DR1.
[0270] In an embodiment, Fig.13As shown in , the plurality of light-blocking films LS may each include a convex portion CVX on at least one of the two surfaces thereof. For example, the convex portion CVX of each of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the normal mode area NEA may face the convex portion CVX of the plurality of light-blocking films LS adjacent to each other in the second direction DR2. The convex portion CVX of each of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may face the convex portion CVX of the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged adjacent to each other in the first direction DR1.
[0271] In an embodiment, Fig.14 and Fig.15 As shown in , the plurality of light-blocking films LS may include both the concave portion CCV and the convex portion CVX.
[0272] In an embodiment, Fig.14 As shown in , the plurality of light-blocking films LS may each include a convex portion CVX on at least one of the two surfaces thereof. For example, the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the normal mode area NEA may include a convex portion CVX on one surface on one side positioned in the second direction DR2, and may include a concave portion CCV on another surface on the other side positioned in the second direction DR2. The plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may include a concave portion CCV on one surface on one side positioned in the first direction DR1, and may include a convex portion CVX on another surface on the other side positioned in the first direction DR1.
[0273] However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and in an embodiment, the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the normal mode area NEA may also include a recessed portion CCV on one surface on one side positioned in the second direction DR2, and may also include a protruding portion CVX on another surface on the other side positioned in the second direction DR2. The plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the privacy mode area PEA may also include a protruding portion CVX on one surface on one side positioned in the first direction DR1, and may include a recessed portion CCV on another surface on the other side positioned in the first direction DR1.
[0274] In another embodiment, if Fig.15 As shown in FIG. 5 , both the concave portion CCV and the convex portion CVX may be included on the same surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0275] In an embodiment, the plurality of light-blocking films LS arranged in the normal mode area NEA may include both a recessed portion CCV and a protruding portion CVX on one surface on one side positioned in the second direction DR2 and on another surface positioned on the other side. As an example, on one surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS on one side positioned in the second direction DR2, the recessed portion CCV may be arranged between the first light-emitting area NEA1 and the second light-emitting area NEA2 of the normal mode area NEA, and the protruding portion CVX may be arranged between the second light-emitting area NEA2 and the third light-emitting area NEA3 of the normal mode area NEA. In addition, on another surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS on the other side positioned in the second direction DR2, the protruding portion CVX may be arranged between the first light-emitting area NEA1 and the second light-emitting area NEA2 of the normal mode area NEA, and the recessed portion CCV may be arranged between the second light-emitting area NEA2 and the third light-emitting area NEA3 of the normal mode area NEA.
[0276] However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and in an embodiment, on one surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS on one side positioned in the second direction DR2, the convex portion CVX may also be arranged between the first light-emitting area NEA1 and the second light-emitting area NEA2 of the normal mode area NEA, and the concave portion CCV may also be arranged between the second light-emitting area NEA2 and the third light-emitting area NEA3 of the normal mode area NEA. In addition, on another surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS on the other side positioned in the second direction DR2, the concave portion CCV may also be arranged between the first light-emitting area NEA1 and the second light-emitting area NEA2 of the normal mode area NEA, and the convex portion CVX may also be arranged between the second light-emitting area NEA2 and the third light-emitting area NEA3 of the normal mode area NEA.
[0277] In an embodiment, although not shown in the drawings, both the concave portion CCV and the convex portion CVX may also be disposed on the same surface of the plurality of light-blocking films LS disposed in the privacy mode area PEA.
[0278] Fig.16 is a plan view showing a pixel and a light control layer of a display device according to still another embodiment.
[0279] In the examples and with reference to Fig.16 The display device 10 is based on the above reference Figures 12 to 15 The display device 10 of the described embodiment is different in that the mark is removed from overlapping the light emitting area EA.
[0280] In an embodiment and more specifically, in the display device 10 , at least one of the removal marks of the plurality of light blocking films LS may overlap with the emission area EA.
[0281] In an embodiment, in Fig.10 and Fig.11 In the embodiment of the present invention, when the bridge BLG is overlapped with the light emitting area EA, the brightness of the display device 10 may be reduced. For example, when the bridge BLG overlaps with the light emitting area EA, the brightness in the first direction DR1 in the normal mode area NEA may be reduced, and the brightness in the second direction DR2 in the privacy mode area PEA may be reduced.
[0282] In the embodiment, as in the display device 10 when the bridge BLG is removed and only the removal mark remains, there is no problem even if the bridge BLG overlaps with the light emitting area EA before the bridge BLG is removed. Therefore, when the bridge BLG overlaps with the light emitting area EA before the bridge BLG is removed, the removal mark may overlap with the light emitting area EA after the bridge BLG is removed.
[0283] Fig.17 is a cross-sectional view showing a display device according to still another embodiment.
[0284] In the examples and with reference to Fig.17 , the display device 10 and the reference Figure 8 The display device 10 of the embodiment described in the embodiment 1000 and the like is different in that the light control layer LCL includes two or more stages of a plurality of light blocking films LS and light transmitting films LT.
[0285] In an embodiment and more specifically, in the display device 10, the light control layer LCL may include a first stage F1 and a second stage F2. The light control layer LCL may include a plurality of light blocking films LS and light transmitting films LT.
[0286] In the embodiment, the plurality of lateral light-blocking films HLS (see Fig.17 ) is described as an example, but the same situation can be applied to a plurality of vertical light-blocking films VLS of the privacy mode area PEA (see Fig. 9 ).
[0287] In an embodiment, the first stage F1 may be disposed on the display layer DU or the touch sensor layer TSU. The first stage F1 may include a first-stage lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 and a first-stage light-transmitting film LT_F1. The first-stage light-transmitting film LT_F1 may include a first portion LTa_F1 and a second portion LTb_F1.
[0288] In an embodiment, the first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 may be disposed on the display layer DU or the touch sensor layer TSU. The first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 may be disposed in the non-transmission area LSA. The first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 may include a first layer having a first layer and a second layer. Figure 8 The multiple light-blocking films LS described in the present invention are made of the same material.
[0289] In an embodiment, the first light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be disposed on the display layer DU or the touch sensor layer TSU. The first light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be disposed in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The first light-transmitting film LT_F1 may include a first layer having a first layer and a second layer. Figure 8 The same material as described in the light-transmitting film LT.
[0290] In an embodiment, the first light transparent film LT_F1 may include a first portion LTa_F1 and a second portion LTb_F1.
[0291] In an embodiment, the first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be arranged between the first-level lateral light-blocking films HLS_F1. The first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be arranged in the transmission area OA. For example, the first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be positioned at the same height as the first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 in the third direction DR3. The height of the first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be the same as that of the first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1.
[0292] In an embodiment, the second portion LTb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be arranged on the first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 and the first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1. The second portion LTb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be arranged in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The second portion LTb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be completely arranged on the first-level lateral light-blocking film HLS_F1 and the first portion LTa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1.
[0293] In an embodiment, when a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS of the first stage F1 is first applied to perform patterning and a material for forming the light-transmitting film LT of the first stage F1 is applied, when the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT of the first stage F1 is excessively applied to the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the first stage F1, the second portion LTb_F1 of the first-stage light-transmitting film LT_F1 may be formed. In another embodiment, the second portion LTb_F1 of the first-stage light-transmitting film LT_F1 may also be omitted.
[0294] In an embodiment, the second stage F2 may be disposed on the first stage F1. The second stage F2 may include a second-stage lateral light-blocking film HLS_F2 and a second-stage light-transmitting film LT_F2. The second-stage light-transmitting film LT_F2 may include a first portion LTa_F2 and a second portion LTb_F2.
[0295] In an embodiment, the second-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F2 may be disposed on the first-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F1. The second-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F2 may be disposed in the non-transmissive area LSA. The second-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F2 may overlap the first-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F1 in the third direction DR3. The second-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F2 may include the same material as the first-level transverse light-blocking film HLS_F1.
[0296] In an embodiment, the second light transparent film LT_F2 may be disposed on the first light transparent film LT_F1. The second light transparent film LT_F2 may be disposed in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The second light transparent film LT_F2 may include the same material as the first light transparent film LT_F1.
[0297] In an embodiment, the second light transparent film LT_F2 may include a first portion LTa_F2 and a second portion LTb_F2.
[0298] In an embodiment, the first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be arranged between the second horizontal light-blocking films HLS_F2. The first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be arranged in the transmission area OA. For example, the first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be positioned at the same height as the second horizontal light-blocking film HLS_F2 in the third direction DR3. The height of the first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be the same as the height of the second horizontal light-blocking film HLS_F2.
[0299] In an embodiment, the second portion LTb_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be arranged on the second horizontal light-blocking film HLS_F2 and the first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2. The second portion LTb_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be arranged in the transmission area OA and the non-transmission area LSA. The second portion LTb_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be completely arranged on the second horizontal light-blocking film HLS_F2 and the first portion LTa_F2 of the second light-transmitting film LT_F2.
[0300] In an embodiment, when a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS of the second stage F2 is first applied to perform patterning and a material for forming the light-transmitting film LT of the second stage F2 is applied, when the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT of the second stage F2 is excessively applied to the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the second stage F2, a second portion LTb_F2 of the second-stage light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be formed. In another embodiment, the second portion LTb_F2 of the second-stage light-transmitting film LT_F2 may also be omitted.
[0301] In the display device 10, according to the embodiment, the light control layer LCL may include a plurality of stages, thereby reducing the height of the plurality of light blocking films LS included in one stage. Accordingly, when the plurality of light blocking films LS are patterned, the etching depth is reduced compared to the etching width, so that the side profiles of the plurality of light blocking films LS may be formed to be close to about 90 degrees. In addition, since the heights of the plurality of light blocking films LS of the light control layer LCL may be formed to be high, the viewing angle control characteristics may be improved.
[0302] An embodiment in which the light control layer LCL includes two stages is shown in the drawings, but the present disclosure is not limited thereto. The light control layer LCL may include three or more stages.
[0303] Hereinafter, various embodiments of the method for manufacturing a display device will be described. Figures 18 to 25 Description used to make the above reference Figures 7 to 16 In the embodiment, reference will be made to Figures 26 to 37 Description used to make the above reference Fig.17 A method of displaying an apparatus is described.
[0304] Fig.18 is a flowchart illustrating a method for manufacturing a display device according to an embodiment. Fig.19 is a diagram showing a method according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig.18 A perspective view of step S110. Fig. 20 and Fig.21 is a diagram showing a method according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig.18 A perspective view of step S120. Fig. 22 is a diagram showing a method according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig.18 A perspective view of step S130. Fig.23 and Fig.24 is a diagram showing a method according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig.18 A perspective view of step S140. Fig.25 is a diagram showing a method according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig.18 A perspective view of step S150.
[0305] In the embodiments, reference Figures 18 to 25 , a method S1 for manufacturing a display device may include: forming a light-blocking material layer (S110); forming a plurality of light-blocking films and bridges by patterning the light-blocking material layer (S120); forming a light-transmitting material layer (S130); removing portions of the light-transmitting material layer and the bridges (S140); and forming a light-transmitting film (S150).
[0306] In an embodiment, Fig.19As shown in FIG. 1 , in step S110 of forming a light blocking material layer, a light blocking material layer LSM may be formed on the display layer or the touch sensor layer. The light blocking material layer LSM may include an organic material including an organic black pigment such as carbon black as a photosensitive resin capable of absorbing or blocking light, but is not limited thereto.
[0307] In an embodiment, Fig. 20 and Fig.21 As shown in FIG. 1 , in the step S120 of forming a plurality of light blocking films and bridges by patterning the light blocking material layer, a first hard mask HM1 may be disposed on the light blocking material layer LSM.
[0308] In an embodiment, the first hard mask HM1 may be formed by a deposition process and a patterning process. For example, a material included in the first hard mask HM1 may be deposited on the light blocking material layer LSM. The material included in the first hard mask HM1 may include at least one of aluminum, chromium, copper, nickel, and oxides thereof, but is not limited thereto.
[0309] In an embodiment, the material included in the first hard mask HM1 may be deposited by a sputtering process which is one of physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods. However, the material included in the first hard mask HM1 is not limited thereto and may also be deposited by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method or an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method.
[0310] In an embodiment, the first hard mask HM1 may be formed by patterning a material layer of the first hard mask HM1. For example, the first hard mask HM1 may be patterned by a photolithography process.
[0311] In embodiments, a plurality of light blocking films LS and bridges BLG may be formed by patterning the light blocking material layer LSM using the first hard mask HM1. For example, the light blocking material layer LSM in a portion not overlapping the first hard mask HM1 may be etched by dry etching, but is not limited thereto.
[0312] In embodiments, by etching the light blocking material layer LSM, a plurality of light blocking films LS extending in the second direction DR2 and a bridge BLG extending in the first direction DR1 may be formed. A space surrounded by the plurality of light blocking films LS and the bridge BLG may be a blank space.
[0313] In an embodiment, Fig. 22 As shown in FIG. 1 , in the step S130 of forming the light-transmitting material layer, the light-transmitting material layer LTM may be formed in the empty space, around the plurality of light-blocking films LS, and on the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0314] In an embodiment, for example, the material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM may be applied to the empty space, around the plurality of light-blocking films LS, and on the plurality of light-blocking films LS. The light-transmitting material layer LTM may include a first portion LTMa positioned in the empty space and around the plurality of light-blocking films LS, and a second portion LTMb positioned on the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0315] In an embodiment, the material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM may include an organic film made of acryl resin, epoxy resin, phenol resin, polyamide resin, polyimide resin, or the like. In another embodiment, the material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM may include silicon oxynitride or silicon oxide.
[0316] In some embodiments, when the material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM is applied to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa of the light-transmitting material layer LTM, the second portion LTMb may be omitted. However, since it is not easy to apply the material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa of the light-transmitting material layer LTM, in most cases, the second portion LTMb of the light-transmitting material layer LTM may be formed.
[0317] In an embodiment, when a material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming the plurality of light-blocking films LS is applied, an additional polishing process (such as a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process) needs to be performed to remove the plurality of light-blocking films LS excessively applied to the upper surface of the light-transmitting film LT. On the other hand, according to the method for manufacturing the display device 10 (for example, referring to Figure 6 ) method S1, since the material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS is first applied to perform patterning and then the material for forming the light-transmitting film LT is applied, the process efficiency can be improved because there is no need to remove the light-transmitting film LT (i.e., the second portion LTMb) excessively applied to the plurality of light-blocking films LS.
[0318] In an embodiment, when the manufacturing process according to the method S1 for manufacturing the display device 10 is performed only from step S110 to step S130, the display device 10 may be manufactured according to the reference Fig.10 and Fig.11 The display device 10 of the embodiment is described.
[0319] In an embodiment, when the manufacturing process according to the method S1 for manufacturing a display device is performed only from step S110 to step S150, the display device according to the reference may be manufactured. Figure 7 and Figures 12 to 16 The display device 10 of the embodiment is described.
[0320] In an embodiment, Fig.23 and Fig.24As shown in FIG. 1 , in the step S140 of removing portions of the light-transmitting material layer and the bridge, a second hard mask HM2 may be disposed on the plurality of light-blocking films LS, the bridge BLG, and the light-transmitting material layer LTM.
[0321] In embodiments, the second hard mask HM2 may be formed in the same manner as the first hard mask HM1 .
[0322] In embodiments, portions of the light-transmitting material layer LTM and the bridge BLG may be removed using the second hard mask HM2. For example, portions of the light-transmitting material layer LTM and the bridge BLG not overlapping the second hard mask HM2 may be etched by dry etching, but are not limited thereto.
[0323] In an embodiment, the second hard mask HM2 may include a bridge removal area BRA. The bridge removal area BRA may overlap the bridge BLG in the third direction DR3. The slit of the second hard mask HM2 may be positioned in the bridge removal area BRA. That is, the opening of the second hard mask HM2 may be arranged in the bridge removal area BRA.
[0324] In an embodiment, in the bridge removal area BRA, the bridge BLG and the portion of the light-transmitting material layer LTM overlapping the bridge BLG may be removed. Accordingly, as the bridge BLG is removed, the first hole HOL1 may be formed, and as the portion of the light-transmitting material layer LTM overlapping the bridge BLG is removed, the second hole HOL2 may be formed. The first hole HOL1 and the second hole HOL2 may be one connected through hole penetrating through the entire light-transmitting material layer LTM.
[0325] In an embodiment, the first hole HOL1 may be positioned at the same height as the first portion LTMa of the light-transmitting material layer LTM. The first hole HOL1 may be surrounded by the first portion LTMa of the light-transmitting material layer LTM. The first hole HOL1 may be a hole penetrating through the first portion LTMa of the light-transmitting material layer LTM in the third direction DR3.
[0326] In an embodiment, the second hole HOL2 may be positioned at the same height as the second portion LTMb of the light-transmitting material layer LTM. The second hole HOL2 may be surrounded by the second portion LTMb of the light-transmitting material layer LTM. The second hole HOL2 may be a hole penetrating through the second portion LTMb of the light-transmitting material layer LTM in the third direction DR3.
[0327] In an embodiment, Fig.25 As shown in FIG. 1 , in the step S150 of forming the light-transmitting film, a material included in the light-transmitting material layer LTM may be additionally applied to fill the first hole HOL1 and the second hole HOL2 . Accordingly, the first portion LTa and the second portion LTb of the light-transmitting film LT may be formed.
[0328] In an embodiment, although not shown in the drawings, the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the light control layer LCL may include a film such as the reference film. Figures 12 to 16 The removal marks of the concave portion CCV and the convex portion CVX are described.
[0329] In the embodiment and according to the method S1 for manufacturing the display device, by first applying a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS to perform patterning and then applying a material for forming a light-transmitting film LT, the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may have excellent characteristics. For example, by first applying a material for forming a plurality of light-blocking films LS to perform patterning and then applying a material for forming a light-transmitting film LT, the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS may be formed to be close to about 90 degrees, or may be formed in a positive tapered shape with an upper portion narrower than a lower portion. As the side profiles of the plurality of light-blocking films LS are formed to be close to about 90 degrees or in a positive tapered shape with an upper portion narrower than a lower portion, viewing angle control and brightness characteristics may be improved.
[0330] In an embodiment and according to the method S1 for manufacturing the display device 10, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may include a bridge BLG to prevent the plurality of light-blocking films LS from collapsing during a patterning process of the plurality of light-blocking films LS. In an embodiment and according to the method S1 for manufacturing the display device 10, the plurality of light-blocking films LS may include a bridge BLG to prevent the plurality of light-blocking films LS from collapsing.
[0331] In the embodiment and according to the method S1 for manufacturing the display device 10 , process efficiency may be improved by removing the bridge BLG when the bridge BLG overlaps the emission area EA and not removing the bridge BLG when the bridge BLG does not overlap the emission area EA.

[0334] In the embodiments, reference Figure 26 to Figure 37 , the method S2 for manufacturing a display device may include: forming a first-level light-blocking material layer (S210); forming a first-level light-blocking film and a first-level bridge by patterning the first-level light-blocking material layer (S220); forming a first-level light-transmitting material layer (S230); forming a second-level light-blocking material layer (S240); forming a second-level light-blocking film and a second-level bridge by patterning the second-level light-blocking material layer (S250); forming a second-level light-transmitting material layer (S260); removing a portion of the first-level light-transmitting material layer, a portion of the second-level light-transmitting material layer, and the first-level bridge and the second-level bridge (S270); and forming a first-level light-transmitting film and a second-level light-transmitting film (S280).
[0335] In the embodiments and as Fig. 27 As shown in FIG. 1 , in step S210 of forming a first-level light-blocking material layer, a first-level light-blocking material layer LSM_F1 may be formed on the display layer or the touch sensor layer. The first-level light-blocking material layer LSM_F1 may include the same as that in the above reference. Fig.19 At least one of the same materials as the light-blocking material layer LSM described above.
[0336] In the embodiments and as Fig.28 and Fig.29 As shown in FIG. 1 , when forming the first-level light blocking film and the first-level bridge by patterning the first-level light blocking material layer, a first hard mask HM1 may be disposed on the first-level light blocking material layer LSM_F1 .
[0337] In the embodiment, it can be compared with the above reference Fig. 20 The first hard mask HM1 is formed in the same manner as the first hard mask HM1 described above.
[0338] In embodiments, the first light blocking film LS_F1 and the first bridge BLG_F1 may be formed by patterning the first light blocking material layer LSM_F1 using the first hard mask HM1. For example, the first light blocking material layer LSM_F1 in a portion not overlapping the first hard mask HM1 may be etched by dry etching, but is not limited thereto.
[0339] In embodiments, by etching the first light blocking material layer LSM_F1, a first light blocking film LS_F1 extending in the second direction DR2 and a first bridge BLG_F1 extending in the first direction DR1 may be formed. A space surrounded by the first light blocking film LS_F1 and the first bridge BLG_F1 may be a blank space.
[0340] In the embodiments and as Fig.30 As shown in FIG. 2 , in the step S230 of forming the first-level light-transmitting material layer, the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may be formed in the empty space, around the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1 , and on the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1 .
[0341] In an embodiment, for example, a material included in the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may be applied to an empty space, around the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1, and on the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1. The first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may include a first portion LTMa_F1 positioned in the empty space and around the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1, and a second portion LTMb_F1 disposed on the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1.
[0342] In an embodiment, the first light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may include the same Fig. 22 At least one of the same materials as the light-transmitting material layer LTM described above.
[0343] In some embodiments, when the material included in the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 is applied to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1, the second portion LTMb_F1 may be omitted. However, since it is not easy to apply the material included in the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1, in other embodiments, the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may be formed.
[0344] In an embodiment and when a material for forming a first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming a first-level light-blocking film LS_F1 is applied, an additional polishing process such as a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process needs to be performed to remove the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1 excessively applied to the upper surface of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1. In an embodiment, according to the method S2 for manufacturing a display device, since a material for forming a first-level light-blocking film LS_F1 is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming a first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 is applied, process efficiency can be improved because it is not necessary to remove the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 (i.e., the second portion LTMb_F1) excessively applied to the first-level light-blocking film LS_F1.
[0345] In an embodiment, Fig.31 As shown in FIG. 2 , in step S240 of forming a second light blocking material layer, a second light blocking material layer LSM_F2 may be formed on the first light blocking film LS_F1 and the first light transparent material layer LTM_F1. The second light blocking material layer LSM_F2 may include at least one of the same materials as the first light blocking material layer LSM_F1.
[0346] In an embodiment, Fig.32 and Fig.33 As shown in FIG. 2 , in the step S250 of forming the second light blocking film and the second bridge by patterning the second light blocking material layer, a second hard mask HM2 may be disposed on the second light blocking material layer LSM_F2.
[0347] In embodiments, the second hard mask HM2 may be formed in the same manner as the first hard mask HM1 .
[0348] In an embodiment, the second light blocking film LS_F2 and the second bridge BLG_F2 may be formed by patterning the second light blocking material layer LSM_F2 using the second hard mask HM2. For example, the second light blocking material layer LSM_F2 in a portion not overlapping the second hard mask HM2 may be etched by dry etching, but is not limited thereto.
[0349] In an embodiment, by etching the second light blocking material layer LSM_F2, a second light blocking film LS_F2 extending in the second direction DR2 and a second bridge BLG_F2 extending in the first direction DR1 may be formed. A space surrounded by the second light blocking film LS_F2 and the second bridge BLG_F2 may be a blank space.
[0350] In an embodiment, the first portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 does not overlap with the second hard mask HM2 and thus may be completely removed, and a portion of the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 that does not overlap with the second hard mask HM2 may be removed. Accordingly, the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may have the same shape as the second hard mask HM2 in a plan view.
[0351] In an embodiment, Fig.34 As shown in FIG. 2 , in the step S260 of forming the second light-transmitting material layer, a second light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may be formed in the empty space, around the second light-blocking film LS_F2, and on the second light-blocking film LS_F2.
[0352] In an embodiment, the material included in the second light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may be applied to the empty space, around the second light-blocking film LS_F2, and on the second light-blocking film LS_F2. The second light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may include a first portion LTMa_F2 positioned in the empty space and around the second light-blocking film LS_F2, and a second portion LTMb_F2 arranged on the second light-blocking film LS_F2.
[0353] In an embodiment, portions of the first portion LTMa_F1 and the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 removed in step S250 may also be formed again.
[0354] In an embodiment, the second light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may include Fig. 22 At least one of the same materials as the light-transmitting material layer LTM described above.
[0355] In some embodiments, when the material included in the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 is applied to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa_F2 of the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2, the second portion LTMb_F2 may be omitted. However, since it is not easy to apply the material included in the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 to the extent that it does not overflow the first portion LTMa_F2 of the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2, in most cases, the second portion LTMb_F2 of the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may be formed.
[0356] In an embodiment and when a material for forming a second-level light-transmitting film LT_F2 is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming a second-level light-blocking film LS_F2 is applied, an additional polishing process such as a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process needs to be performed to remove the second-level light-blocking film LS_F2 excessively applied to the upper surface of the second-level light-transmitting film LT_F2. In an embodiment, according to a method S2 for manufacturing a display device, since a material for forming a second-level light-blocking film LS_F2 is first applied to perform patterning and then a material for forming a second-level light-transmitting film LT_F2 is applied, process efficiency can be improved because it is not necessary to remove the second-level light-transmitting film LT_F2 (i.e., the second portion LTMb_F2) excessively applied to the second-level light-blocking film LS_F2.
[0357] In the embodiments and as Fig.35 and Fig.36 As shown in FIG. , in step S270 of removing part of the first-level light-transmitting material layer, part of the second-level light-transmitting material layer, and the first-level bridge and the second-level bridge, a third hard mask HM3 may be arranged on the plurality of second-level light-blocking films LS_F2, the second-level bridges BLG_F2, and the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2.
[0358] In embodiments, the third hard mask HM3 may be formed in the same manner as the first hard mask HM1 .
[0359] In an embodiment, a portion of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1, a portion of the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2, and the first-level bridge BLG_F1 and the second-level bridge BLG_F2 may be removed by using the third hard mask HM3. For example, a portion of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1, a portion of the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2, and the first-level bridge BLG_F1 and the second-level bridge BLG_F2 in a portion not overlapping with the third hard mask HM3 may be removed by dry etching, but is not limited thereto.
[0360] In an embodiment, the third hard mask HM3 may include a bridge removal area BRA. The bridge removal area BRA may overlap the first-stage bridge BLG_F1 and the second-stage bridge BLG_F2 in the third direction DR3. The slit of the third hard mask HM3 may be positioned in the bridge removal area BRA. That is, the opening of the third hard mask HM3 may be arranged in the bridge removal area BRA.
[0361] In an embodiment, in the bridge removal area BRA, the first-stage bridge BLG_F1 and the second-stage bridge BLG_F2 and the portion of the first-stage light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 and the portion of the second-stage light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 overlapping the first-stage bridge BLG_F1 and the second-stage bridge BLG_F2 may be removed. Accordingly, as the second-stage bridge BLG_F2 is removed, the first hole HOL1 may be formed, and as the portion of the second-stage light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 overlapping the second-stage bridge BLG_F2 is removed, the second hole HOL2 may be formed. Although not shown in the drawings, as the first-stage bridge BLG_F1 is removed, the third hole may be formed, and as the portion of the first-stage light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 overlapping the first-stage bridge BLG_F1 is removed, the fourth hole may be formed. The first hole HOL1 and the second hole HOL2 may be one connected through hole penetrating through the entire second light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 , and the third hole and the fourth hole may be one connected through hole penetrating through the entire first light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 .
[0362] In an embodiment, the first hole HOL1 may be positioned at the same height as the first portion LTMa_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2. The first hole HOL1 may be surrounded by the first portion LTMa_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2. The first hole HOL1 may be a hole penetrating through the first portion LTMa_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 in the third direction DR3.
[0363] In an embodiment, the second hole HOL2 may be positioned at the same height as the second portion LTMb_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2. The second hole HOL2 may be surrounded by the second portion LTMb_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2. The second hole HOL2 may be a hole penetrating through the second portion LTMb_F2 of the second level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 in the third direction DR3.
[0364] In an embodiment, the third hole may be positioned at the same height as the first portion LTMa_F1 of the first light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1. The third hole may be surrounded by the first portion LTMa_F1 of the first light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1. The third hole may be a hole penetrating through the first portion LTMa_F1 of the first light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 in the third direction DR3.
[0365] In an embodiment, the fourth hole may be positioned at the same height as the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1. The fourth hole may be surrounded by the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1. The fourth hole may be a hole penetrating through the second portion LTMb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 in the third direction DR3.
[0366] In an embodiment, Fig.37 As shown in , in step S280 of forming the first-level light-transmitting film and the second-level light-transmitting film, the material included in the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may be additionally applied to fill the first hole HOL1 and the second hole HOL2, and the material included in the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 may be additionally applied to fill the third hole and the fourth hole. Accordingly, the first part LTa_F1 and the second part LTb_F1 of the first-level light-transmitting film LT_F1 and the first part LTa_F2 and the second part LTb_F2 of the second-level light-transmitting film LT_F2 may be formed. In some embodiments, the materials included in the first-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F1 and the second-level light-transmitting material layer LTM_F2 may be the same.
[0367] In an embodiment, although not shown in the drawings, the plurality of light-blocking films LS of the light control layer LCL may include a film such as the reference film. Figures 12 to 16 The removal marks of the concave portion CCV and the convex portion CVX are described.
[0368] In an embodiment, according to the method S2 for manufacturing the display device 10, the light control layer LCL may include a plurality of stages, thereby reducing the height of the plurality of light blocking films LS included in one stage.
