[0030] As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it should be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely examples of the present invention that may be embodied in various alternative forms. The drawings are not necessarily to scale; some features may be enlarged or minimized to show details of particular components. Therefore, the specific structural details and functional details disclosed herein should not be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a representative basis for teaching those skilled in the art to employ the present invention in various ways.

[0031] refer to Figures 1 to 13 , a bracket assembly 100 is disclosed herein that is configured to mount a loudspeaker 102 to a wall or other supporting surface 104, thereby allowing adjustment of the position of the loudspeaker 102 relative to two axes during and after installation. More specifically, the bracket assembly 100 provides both tilt and pan adjustment capabilities of the loudspeaker 102, thereby providing the ability to adjust the directionality of the acoustic output of the loudspeaker 102. Advantageously, the bracket assembly 100 enables one person to accomplish the task of mounting the loudspeaker 102 to the supporting surface 104 and making any desired tilt and / or pan adjustments.

[0032] The support surface 104 may be any structure suitable for receiving the bracket assembly 100 and its associated loudspeaker 102. For example, the support surface 104 may be a wall, ceiling, speaker cabinet, panel, or other object. The bracket assembly 100 and loudspeaker 102 combination may be considered together as a loudspeaker assembly 106.

[0033] First reference Figures 1 to 4 and Figure 12 to Figure 13 In one or more embodiments, the bracket assembly 100 includes a wall bracket 108, which includes an adjustment plate 110 and a mounting flange 112 that is generally orthogonal to the adjustment plate 110, so that the wall bracket 108 can be generally L-shaped. The mounting flange 112 can be mounted to the support surface 104 and includes at least one hole 114 (typically two spaced holes 114), each of which is configured to receive a fastener (e.g., a screw, not shown) for mounting the wall bracket 108 to the support surface 104. The adjustment plate 110 has a horizontal axis 116 ( Figure 1 ), and includes a slot 118 that can be oriented substantially parallel to a horizontal axis 116, wherein the horizontal axis 116 can be substantially orthogonal to the plane of the support surface 104 when the wall mount bracket 108 is installed. The slot 118 can be substantially pill-shaped and configured to receive a first fastener 120 (e.g., a screw). The slot 118 facilitates easy installation and adjustment of the tilt angle (e.g., 0° to -10°) of the loudspeaker 102 after installation, as further described below.

[0034] like Figures 1 to 4 and Figures 10 to 13 As best shown, in one or more embodiments, the adjustment plate 110 also includes a cutout 122 that can be diagonally oriented relative to the horizontal axis 116, wherein the cutout 122 can be generally disposed below and spaced apart from the slot 118. More specifically, the cutout 122 can include an inner end 124 and an outer end 126, the outer end 126 opening at a front edge 128 of the adjustment plate 110, and the slot 118 disposed inwardly from the front edge 128. The inner end 124 is lower than the outer end 126, thereby giving the cutout 122 a diagonal configuration. As further described below, the cutout 122 is configured to receive a second fastener 130 for assembling and mounting the bracket assembly 100 and the loudspeaker 102.

[0035] When the wall mount 108 is mounted to the support surface 104, fasteners (e.g., screws; not shown) received through the holes 114 used are exposed. Thus, in one or more embodiments, a cover 132 may be provided to be placed on the wall mount 108, which may give the bracket assembly 100 a more finished appearance. Figure 1As shown, the cover 132 may have a generally rectangular dome shape and include a longitudinal slot 134 configured to receive the adjustment plate 110 of the wall mount 108 therethrough. The cover 132 may be mounted so that it rests on the support surface 104 and may have a sufficient length and width to cover and conceal the entire mounting flange 112 of the wall mount 108 when installed, such as Figure 10 to Figure 11 In one or more embodiments, the cover 132 does not require any fasteners, but can simply be held fixedly attached to the mounting flange 112 by an interference fit between the adjustment plate 110 and the longitudinal slot 134 .

[0036] The bracket assembly 100 also includes a speaker bracket 136 including a central plate 138 that can be mounted to the loudspeaker 102, such as Figures 1 to 5 and Figures 8 to 12 The center plate 138 has at least one hole 140 (e.g., two spaced-apart holes 140), each of which is configured to receive a fastener 142 for mounting the speaker bracket 136 to the loudspeaker 102 (e.g., a loudspeaker housing). The speaker bracket 136 includes a top arm 144 that is generally perpendicular to the center plate 138 and has a top hole 146, and a bottom arm 148 that is generally perpendicular to the center plate 138 and has a bottom hole 150. In this way, the speaker bracket 136 can have a generally U-shaped or C-shaped appearance. The loudspeaker 102 can be, for example, Figure 12 to Figure 13 The speaker bracket 136 is an elongated cylindrical shape as shown, but is not limited to this configuration. Thus, the bracket assembly 100 described herein is not limited to use with any particular type of loudspeaker 102 or transducer. In addition, the speaker bracket 136 can be attached to the loudspeaker 102 at any position, not limited to the exemplary positions shown herein.

[0037] In one or more embodiments, the bracket assembly 100 may further include a spacer 152 (eg, Figure 10 to Figure 11 13), the gasket 152 is configured to be received on an outer face 154 of the center plate 138 of the speaker bracket 136, wherein the gasket 152 is arranged to be disposed between the speaker bracket 136 and the loudspeaker 102. The gasket 152 may have a generally rectangular shape, sized to correspond to the shape of the center plate 138, and may have a hole 155 configured to align with the hole 140 of the center plate 138. The gasket 152 may be constructed of, for example, a rubber material, and may enhance the stability of the mounted loudspeaker 102 and prevent the speaker bracket 136 from accidentally scratching the loudspeaker 102.

[0038] refer to Figure 1 to Figure 2, the bracket assembly 100 also includes an intermediate bracket 156, which has a joint plate 158, and the joint plate 158 includes a first hole 160 and a second hole 162, wherein the second hole 162 is located below the first hole 160, and the second hole 162 can be longitudinally offset from the first hole 160 further toward the central area of the intermediate bracket 156. The intermediate bracket 156 also includes an upper flange 164 that is generally orthogonal to the joint plate 158 and includes an upper hole 166, and a lower flange 168 that is generally orthogonal to the joint plate 158 and includes a lower hole 170. In this way, the intermediate bracket 156 can have a generally U-shaped or C-shaped appearance.

[0039] In one or more embodiments, the height of the speaker bracket 136 can be greater than the height of the intermediate bracket 156, such that the intermediate bracket 156 is received within the speaker bracket 136 with the top arm 144 overlying the upper flange 164 and the bottom arm 148 overlying the lower flange 168 (see, e.g., Figure 1 , Figures 3 to 5 and Figure 10 to Figure 11 Of course, it is contemplated that the opposite configuration is possible, wherein the height of the intermediate bracket 156 is greater than the height of the speaker bracket 136, and the speaker bracket 136 is received within the intermediate bracket 156, wherein the upper flange 164 overlies the top arm 144, and the lower flange 168 overlies the bottom arm 148.

[0040] In one or more embodiments, the intermediate bracket 156 can be coupled or can be coupled to the speaker bracket 136 and can be rotated about a vertical axis 172 ( 172 ) defined between the top arm 144 and the bottom arm 148 (such as between the top hole 146 and the bottom hole 150). Figure 3 ) rotates. Figures 3 to 7 As best shown, the top fastener 174 is configured to be received through the top hole 146 and the upper hole 166, and the bottom fastener 176 is configured to be received through the bottom hole 150 and the lower hole 170. Through this rotatable coupling, the relative position between the intermediate bracket 156 and the speaker bracket 136 can be adjusted to provide horizontal rotation adjustability of the loudspeaker 102. By adjusting (i.e., loosening or tightening) the top fastener 174 and the bottom fastener 176, the horizontal rotation angle adjustability capability of the loudspeaker 102 relative to the intermediate bracket 156 and the support surface 104 can be provided and the horizontal rotation position of the loudspeaker 102 relative to the intermediate bracket 156 and the support surface 104 can be fixed. In one example, the horizontal rotation angle of the loudspeaker 102 can range between approximately -90° and 90° (adjacent to the support surface 104 on either side of the wall bracket 108), where 0° represents a plane generally normal to the support surface 104.

[0041] like Figure 3 to Figure 4 and Figure 10 to Figure 11As shown, the wall mount 108 can be connected to the intermediate bracket 156 (and thus to the attached speaker bracket 136 and the loudspeaker 102) by a first fastener 120 received through the slot 118 and the first hole 160 and a second fastener 130 received through the cutout 122 and the second hole 162. Before the wall mount 108 is connected to the intermediate bracket 156, the wall mount 108 can be securely fastened to the support surface 104, wherein the cover 132 is optionally positioned to conceal the mounting flange 112. In one or more embodiments, the intermediate bracket 156 includes a fixed bolt 178 (see Figure 2 and Figure 5 ), a fixed bolt 178 is formed in a rear surface 180 thereof and is aligned with the upper hole 166, the lower hole 170, the first hole 160 and the second hole 162 for receiving the top fastener 174, the bottom fastener 176, the first fastener 120 and the second fastener 130, respectively. The fixed bolt 178 advantageously enables a user to assemble and adjust the stand assembly 100 with one hand, while the other hand can be free for, for example, supporting the loudspeaker 102. Therefore, only one person is required to complete the installation of the stand assembly 100 and the attached loudspeaker 102.

[0042] refer to Figure 3 to Figure 4 and Figures 10 to 13 , the position of the first fastener 120 can be moved along the slot 118 so that the wall bracket 108 is movably coupled to the intermediate bracket 156 to provide tilt adjustability of the loudspeaker 102, such as relative to the support surface 104. The slot 118 allows the mounted loudspeaker 102 to have a range of tilt angles between the on-axis position and the maximum off-axis position. In one or more embodiments, the length of the slot 118 determines the range of tilt adjustability of the loudspeaker 102, such as between an angle of about 0° (the loudspeaker 102 is in a plane generally parallel to the support surface 104) to an angle of about -10° (the loudspeaker 102 is tilted downward, and the top end 182 is farther from the support surface 104 than the bottom end 184), wherein the range may be suitable for achieving optimal acoustic performance of the loudspeaker 102. However, the disclosed range is not intended to be limiting, and other tilt angle ranges are also contemplated. In one or more embodiments, the slot 118 can be configured to allow a substantially unlimited number of tilt angles to be selected between the on-axis position and the maximum off-axis position. Alternatively, slot 118 or another tilt angle mechanism may be configured to allow selection of a limited number of tilt angles (ie, by incremental adjustment).

[0043] The engagement of the second fastener 130 through the cutout 122 and the second hole 162 will maintain the connection between the wall bracket 108 and the intermediate bracket 156 and support the loudspeaker 102, while the tilt angle of the loudspeaker 102 is selected or adjusted by moving the first fastener 120 along the slot 118. When the position of the first fastener 120 is moved along the slot 118, the intermediate bracket 156 (and the attached speaker bracket 136 and loudspeaker 102) will be moved about the second fastener 130 and the transverse axis 186 ( Figure 1 When the desired tilt angle is reached, both the first fastener 120 and the second fastener 130 can be tightened to secure the wall bracket 108 to the intermediate bracket 156, thereby fixing the entire bracket assembly 100 at the desired tilt angle of the loudspeaker 102.

[0044] Advantageously, once the user has mounted the loudspeaker 102 on the support surface 104 using the bracket assembly 100, there is no need to disassemble the entire bracket assembly 100 to adjust the tilt and / or horizontal rotation angle of the loudspeaker 102. While the bracket assembly 100 is mounted on the support surface 104 and the loudspeaker 102, the first fastener 120 and the second fastener 130 can be adjusted (i.e., loosened and tightened) to adjust the tilt angle of the loudspeaker 102, and the top fastener 174 and the bottom fastener 176 can be adjusted (i.e., loosened and tightened) to adjust the horizontal rotation angle of the loudspeaker 102. In addition, since each of the first fastener 120, the second fastener 130, the top fastener 174, and the bottom fastener 176 is received in a corresponding fixed bolt 178 on the intermediate bracket 156, the user can complete the adjustment of each of these fasteners 120, 130, 174, 176 with a single hand operation.

[0045] In one or more embodiments, it is contemplated that the intermediate bracket 156 and the speaker bracket 136 can be coupled together or pre-assembled, while the wall bracket 108 is separate. However, it should be understood that any of the wall bracket 108, the intermediate bracket 156, and the speaker bracket 136 can be pre-assembled, or can initially be separate components and then coupled together.

[0046] It should be understood that the use of relative and directional terms (such as front, outer, rear, inner, upper, lower, top, bottom, horizontal, vertical and other such terms) herein is not intended to limit the bracket assembly 100, the loudspeaker 102 or any of their respective components and features to any particular orientation in space. In addition, although the bracket assembly 100 is shown and described herein as specifically inserting the fastener into the wall bracket 108 from the left side, it should be understood that the bracket assembly 100 is not limited to this configuration, and a corresponding right-side bracket assembly 100 that is a mirror image thereof may be provided.

[0047] Although exemplary embodiments are described above, it is not intended that these embodiments describe all possible forms of the present invention. In fact, the wording used in the specification is for description rather than limitation, and it should be understood that various changes can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. In addition, the features of various exemplified embodiments can be combined to form further embodiments of the present invention.
