Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This case concerns identity registration methods and devices, particularly identity registration methods and devices that can effectively assist in identifying visitor identities to facilitate visitor login. Background Technology
[0002] Computers can use Time-of-Flight (TOF) sensors to detect if a visitor is approaching and decide whether to wake the computer. However, the measurement range of TOF sensors is limited. If the visitor is too far from the TOF sensor, the accuracy and reliability of the measurement will decrease, making it unable to effectively identify the visitor. As a result, even if the visitor is a computer user, they will not be able to log in to the computer normally. Summary of the Invention
[0003] In view of the shortcomings of prior art, one of the objectives of this application is (but not limited to) to provide an identity registration method and an identity registration device to improve the shortcomings of prior art.
[0004] In some implementations, the identity registration method includes the following steps: when identity registration for biometric login of the operating system begins, a start command is transmitted to an image capturing device; the image capturing device captures a plurality of first images according to the start command; the neural processor of the image capturing device performs first image processing on the plurality of first images to obtain a first biometric feature; and the neural processor of the image capturing device registers the first biometric feature in a flash memory.
[0005] In some embodiments, the identity registration device includes a memory and a processor. The memory is used to store at least one instruction. The processor is used to read the at least one instruction to perform the following steps: when identity registration for biometric login of the operating system begins, transmitting a start command to an image capturing device; the image capturing device capturing a plurality of first images according to the start command; the neural processor of the image capturing device performing a first image processing on the plurality of first images to obtain a first biometric feature; and the neural processor of the image capturing device registering the first biometric feature in a flash memory.
[0006] The technical means embodied in the embodiments of this invention can improve at least one of the shortcomings of prior art. The identity registration method and device of this invention employ an image capturing device to capture images, thereby effectively assisting in identifying the visitor's identity for login purposes. Furthermore, when the biometric login identity registration of the operating system begins, this invention can simultaneously execute the identity registration method. Therefore, users do not need to perform a separate registration process for this invention; they can conveniently register their biometric features in the flash memory using the identity registration method of this invention. Moreover, since this invention only requires image processing through the neural processor of the image capturing device, and does not require the processor of the identity registration device, the performance of the identity registration device can be effectively saved.
[0007] Regarding the features, implementation, and effects of this case, the preferred embodiments are described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Attached Figure Description

[0013] To address the problem that existing sensors are unable to effectively identify visitors due to their distance, thus preventing visitors from logging into electronic devices, this case proposes an identity registration method and device, detailed below.
[0014] Figure 1 A schematic diagram of an identity registration device 100 is provided according to some embodiments of this invention. As shown, the identity registration device 100 includes a processor 110, a memory 120, an image capturing device 130, and a flash memory 140. Furthermore, the image capturing device 130 includes a neural processing unit (NPU) 131. The memory 120 may be dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), used to store at least one instruction. The processor 110 is used to read at least one instruction to execute the identity registration procedure. For ease of understanding of the operation of the identity registration device 100, please also refer to... Figure 2 , Figure 2 A flowchart of an identity registration method 200 is drawn based on some embodiments of this case.
[0015] In step 210, when biometric login registration of the operating system begins, a start command is transmitted to the image capturing device. For example, when a user wants to perform identity registration, the user will enter the biometric login screen of the operating system (such as Windows Hello in a Windows operating system) and select "Start Registration". When biometric login registration of the operating system (such as Windows Hello in a Windows operating system) begins, the processor 110 transmits a start command (such as an Extension Unit command with metadata information) to the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera).
[0016] In step 220, the image capturing device captures a plurality of first images according to a start command. For example, the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) may capture a plurality of images (such as images containing a face) according to a start command.
[0017] In step 230, the neural processor of the image capturing device performs first image processing on a plurality of first images to obtain first biometric features. For example, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) performs image processing (such as image training) on the images (such as images containing a face) to obtain biometric features (such as facial features).
[0018] In step 240, the neural processor of the image capturing device registers a first biometric feature in the flash memory. For example, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) registers a biometric feature (such as a facial feature) in the flash memory 140.
[0019] As described above, the identity registration device 100 and identity registration method 200 of this case employ an image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) to capture images, and the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 performs image processing (such as image training) on the images (such as images containing faces) to obtain biometric features (such as facial features) and register them. Therefore, it can effectively assist in identifying the identity of visitors to facilitate visitor login.
[0020] Furthermore, when biometric login (such as Windows Hello on a Windows operating system) begins, this invention can execute the identity registration method 200 through a background program of the identity registration device 100 (such as a computer), thereby detecting that a biometric login (such as Windows Hello) identity registration process is currently being executed. This invention can execute the identity registration method 200 simultaneously. Therefore, users do not need to perform a separate registration process for this invention, and can conveniently register their biometric features in the flash memory 140 using the identity registration method 200 of this invention.
[0021] Furthermore, since this case only requires image processing through the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera), it does not require the use of the processor 110 of the identity registration device 100 (such as a computer), which can effectively save the performance of the identity registration device 100 (such as a computer).
[0022] In some embodiments, the identity registration method 200 further includes the following steps: controlling the operating system to enter a sleep mode; continuously capturing a plurality of second images in the sleep mode by an image capturing device; performing second image processing on the plurality of second images by the neural processor of the image capturing device to obtain a second biometric feature; determining by the neural processor of the image capturing device whether the second biometric feature matches the first biometric feature; and if the second biometric feature does not match the first biometric feature, not waking up the operating system. For example, when a user leaves the identity registration device 100 (e.g., a computer), the operating system (e.g., a Windows operating system) automatically enters a sleep mode. The image capturing device 130 (e.g., a camera) continuously captures images in the sleep mode. Suppose that a visitor approaches the identity registration device 100 (e.g., a computer) at this time, and the image capturing device 130 (e.g., a camera) captures an image containing the visitor.
[0023] Next, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) performs image processing (such as image training) on the image containing the visitor to obtain the visitor's biometric features (such as the visitor's facial features). Subsequently, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) determines whether the visitor's biometric features (such as the visitor's facial features) match the biometric features (such as the user's facial features) registered in the flash memory 140. If the visitor's biometric features (such as the visitor's facial features) do not match the registered biometric features (such as the user's facial features), the operating system is not activated. In this way, when the visitor is not a registered user, the operating system will not be activated, thereby achieving the purpose of saving power and protecting privacy.
[0024] In some embodiments, the identity registration method 200 further includes the following step: if the second biometric feature matches the first biometric feature, then the operating system is woken up. For example, when a user leaves the identity registration device 100 (e.g., a computer), the operating system (e.g., a Windows operating system) automatically enters sleep mode. Suppose a visitor approaches the identity registration device 100 (e.g., a computer), and if the visitor's biometric feature (e.g., the visitor's facial features) matches the registered biometric feature (e.g., the user's facial features), then the operating system is woken up. In this way, when the visitor is a registered user, the operating system is immediately woken up to achieve power saving and privacy protection.
[0025] In some embodiments, Figure 2 Step 230 includes: the neural processor of the image capturing device determining whether a plurality of first images contain a frontal facial image; and if a plurality of target images among the plurality of first images contain a frontal facial image, the neural processor of the image capturing device performs first image processing on the plurality of target images to obtain a first biometric feature. For example, to ensure the accuracy of the information, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) in this case determines whether the captured image is a frontal facial image. If the captured image is a frontal facial image, the neural processor 131 of the image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) in this case then performs image processing to obtain facial features. If the captured image is not a frontal facial image, this case does not perform image processing. For example, if the captured image is a side view image, a side view image is less likely to accurately obtain all facial features; therefore, this case does not perform image processing to ensure the accuracy of the information.
[0026] In some embodiments, Figure 2Step 240 includes: transmitting an end command to the image capturing device upon completion of biometric login registration on the operating system; and having the neural processor of the image capturing device register a first biometric feature in the flash memory according to the end command. For example, upon completion of biometric login registration on the operating system (such as Windows Hello on a Windows operating system), processor 110 transmits an end command to image capturing device 130 (such as a camera). Subsequently, the neural processor 131 of image capturing device 130 (such as a camera) registers the biometric feature in flash memory 140 according to the end command, as a basis for subsequent authentication login.
[0027] It should be noted that this case does not involve... The scope of this patent application shall be determined by the scope of the invention application. Modifications and refinements made by those skilled in the art to the embodiments of this invention without departing from the spirit of this invention shall still fall within the scope of the invention application.
[0028] In summary, the technical means embodied in the embodiments of this invention can improve at least one of the shortcomings of the prior art. The identity registration method and device of this invention employ an image capturing device to capture images, thereby effectively assisting in identifying the visitor's identity and facilitating visitor login. Furthermore, when the identity registration for biometric login of the operating system begins, this invention can simultaneously execute the identity registration method. Therefore, users do not need to perform a separate registration process for this invention; they can conveniently register their biometric features in the flash memory using the identity registration method of this invention. Moreover, since this invention only requires image processing through the neural processor of the image capturing device, and does not require the processor of the identity registration device, it can effectively save the performance of the identity registration device.
