Abstract

A diagnostic system for a vehicle includes a diagnostic module that implements a corresponding diagnostic test on the vehicle based on whether a corresponding plurality of sets of conditions are satisfied; and an arbitration module i) receiving a request generated by the diagnostic module to perform a diagnostic test, ii) determining a priority of the diagnostic test, and iii) based on the priority, generating one or more diagnostic responses indicating permission to perform at least one of the diagnostic tests having the highest priority, and not granting permission to at least one other of the diagnostic tests. One or more diagnostic modules perform the at least one diagnostic test prior to performing the at least one other diagnostic test in response to the indicated permission.
