An umbrella-shaped eDNA passive collection device for forest bird diversity monitoring

Abstract

The present application relates to the technical field of bird diversity monitoring, and provides an umbrella-shaped eDNA passive collection device for forest bird diversity monitoring, which comprises a receiving hopper in an inverted umbrella shape and with an open upper side; a collection cylinder, wherein a mesh plate is arranged in the collection cylinder, and a filter membrane for filtering water is arranged on the mesh plate; a drainage port is arranged at the bottom side of the collection cylinder; a wall scraping assembly for intermittently scraping the inner wall of the receiving hopper to cause eDNA samples to fall into the collection cylinder; a closing assembly for closing the upper port of the collection cylinder; eDNA sample collection is performed by receiving the falling bird droppings and flushing rainwater through the receiving hopper, and subsequent eDNA samples fall into the collection cylinder for storage, water is filtered through the filter membrane to avoid bird droppings being soaked by rainwater, the collection cylinder is in a closed state during the falling of eDNA samples, and at the same time, a certain amount of water is stored at the bottom side of the inside of the collection cylinder to play a natural evaporation and humidification effect, so that the eDNA sample drying process is greatly slowed down, and the research value of the collected eDNA samples is ensured.
