Abstract

The utility model provides an electrode assembly and a battery, and relates to the technical field of batteries. The electrode assembly is of a winding structure formed by winding a positive plate and a negative plate in the winding direction after the positive plate and the negative plate are stacked, and the electrode assembly comprises a straight area and a corner area. The corner areas are located at the two ends of the straight area in the first direction. Wherein the positive plate comprises a positive starting section located in the straight area, and the negative plate comprises a negative starting section which exceeds the positive starting section in the reverse direction of the winding direction; the negative electrode starting section at least extends through one corner region and stops at the straight region; and the free end of the negative electrode starting section and the free end of the positive electrode starting section are respectively positioned on two sides of the center of the straight area in the first direction. The condition that the gap between the negative plate and the positive plate at the corner area is too large due to displacement of the negative plate is improved, the lithium precipitation condition of the corner area is effectively improved, the quality of the electrode assembly is improved, and the battery quality is improved.
