Abstract

The invention relates to a remotely controlled rim brake assembly for a bicycle and a method for providing a bicycle with a remotely controlled rim brake assembly. The assembly comprises a brake lever (1), a brake cable (2), a first brake arm (3), a second brake arm (4), an electronic actuator (5) for pulling the cable (2) and a remote control (10). The second brake arm (4) is a remotely controlled electronic arm that replaces one of the original arms of the assembly and the first brake arm (3) is the existing arm from the original assembly. The cable (2) is attached to the lever (1) and is slidably attached to the first brake arm (3). The cable (2) is bent about the first brake arm (3) towards the second brake arm (4). The cable (2) is attached to an actuator (5), and the actuator (5) is attached to the second brake arm (4). The cable (2) is connected to the second brake arm (4) only through the actuator (5). The remote control (10) includes a potentiometer for controlling the braking intensity.
