Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a shaft seal ring with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Radial shaft seals are typically used to seal rotating shafts. These seals are positioned in a housing and simultaneously pressed against the rotating shaft by a spring-loaded sealing lip. The sealing lip usually faces the oil side, for example, to seal an oil chamber from the outside. If the radial shaft seal is installed not in a stationary housing but in a rapidly rotating hollow shaft, the sealing lip can lift off due to centrifugal force, a consequence of the seal's design. At high shaft speeds, this creates excessive centrifugal force, resulting in insufficient contact pressure on the sealing lip. Using stronger ring springs to increase the contact pressure on the sealing lip would lead to overheating and thus increased wear of the sealing lip.
[0003] From EP 276 441 B1, a radial shaft seal is known in which a counterweight is provided whose mass corresponds at least to the mass of the sealing lip and the spring elements acting upon it. This counterweight compensates for the centrifugal force acting on the lip. A similar embodiment is also described in DE 12 33 683 B. CH 673 324 A5 discloses such a radial shaft seal in which the centrifugal force compensator is formed from a sealing lip section, a support section, and a counterweight section, wherein the radial support ring section has an end section against which the support section of the centrifugal force compensator rests.
[0004] The invention is therefore based on the objective of providing a radial shaft seal ring that, especially at high rotational speeds of a hollow shaft, applies sufficient contact force.
[0005] This problem is solved by a radial shaft seal ring with the features specified in claim 1.
[0006] The radial shaft seal according to the invention is characterized in that the support section of the centrifugal force compensator and the radial support ring section are designed to be inserted into one another, wherein the support section of the centrifugal force compensator extends within an opening of the radial support ring section, or wherein the radial support ring section extends within an opening of the support section of the centrifugal force compensator. The direct connection between the centrifugal force compensator and the end section of the radial support ring section ensures targeted centrifugal force compensation by means of the counterweight provided on the centrifugal force compensator, so that the sealing lip maintains sufficient contact pressure even at high rotational speeds of a hollow shaft. The radial shaft seal according to the invention is particularly suitable for installation between a high-speed hollow shaft and an inner shaft, for example in a dual-clutch transmission.Furthermore, a reliable connection is achieved between the support section of the centrifugal compensator and the end section of the support ring section.
[0007] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the centrifugal force compensator is formed from several segments. This allows for the construction of a uniform centrifugal force compensator that can be used in different radial shaft seals depending on the requirements and diameter of the radial shaft seal. For example, fewer centrifugal force compensator segments can be used for radial shaft seals with a small diameter than for a large radial shaft seal, with the uniform centrifugal force compensator segments being used in both the large and small radial shaft seals.
[0008] According to a further embodiment of the invention, each segment of the centrifugal force compensator is designed to be inserted into an opening of the radial support ring section. Alternatively, each segment of the centrifugal force compensator is provided with an opening into which a lug of the radial support ring section can be inserted.
[0009] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the initial examples shown in the drawings. These show: Fig. 1 a perspective sectional view of a radial shaft seal ring with a centrifugal force compensator and a support ring according to a first embodiment, Fig. 2 a sectional view of the radial shaft seal according to the first embodiment, Fig. 3 a perspective view of the support ring and centrifugal force compensator according to the first embodiment, Fig. 4 a perspective view of the support ring according to the first embodiment, Fig. 5 a perspective view of the multi-part centrifugal force compensator according to the first embodiment, Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 a perspective view of the radial shaft seal according to a second embodiment, Fig. 8 a perspective view of the support ring of the radial shaft seal according to the second embodiment, Fig. 9 a perspective view of the multi-part centrifugal force compensator of the radial shaft seal according to the second embodiment, Fig. 10 a perspective view of the radial shaft seal according to the second embodiment, Fig. 11 a sectional view of the radial shaft seal according to a third embodiment, and Fig. 12 a perspective view of the radial shaft seal in the installed state between a hollow shaft and an inner shaft in a gearbox.
[0010] In Fig. Figure 1 shows a radial shaft seal 1 with a centrifugal force compensator 7. The radial shaft seal 1 is located in a transmission (not shown) between a hollow shaft 23 and an inner shaft 24 designed as a solid shaft, according to Fig. 12 is positioned to seal the inner shaft 24. The radial shaft seal 1 is positioned according to Fig. 12 is pressed into the hollow shaft 23 and thus its sealing lip 4 rests against a surface 22 of the inner shaft 24.
[0011] The sealing lip 4 is pressed against the inner shaft 24 by a ring spring 15, for example to seal an oil chamber from its surroundings. The radial shaft seal 1 comprises, according to Fig. 2 an outer ring 2 and an inner ring 16. The outer ring 2 and the inner ring 16 are connected to each other by a web 17. In addition, a support ring 3 made of metal is provided in the radial shaft seal 1, which is formed from a radial support ring section 6 and an axial support ring section 5. The radial support ring section 6 extends radially within the web 17 in a radial direction towards the inner shaft 24. In addition, a dirt lip 18 is provided, which conforms to the shaft surface 22.
[0012] According to the invention, the centrifugal force compensator 7 is formed from a sealing lip section 8, a support section 9, and a counterweight section 10. According to a first embodiment of the invention, the support section 9 extends within an opening 11 of the radial support ring section 6. The counterweight section 10 is positioned on a side facing away from the sealing lip section 8, so that a rapid rotation of the hollow shaft 23 generates a compensating force F2 in the radial direction, which is greater than a centrifugal force F1 generated in the area of the sealing lip due to the rotational speed of the shaft. Therefore, the sealing lip section 8 extends directly into an area adjacent to the sealing lip 4.
[0013] As in the Fig. As shown in Figures 3 to 5, the centrifugal force compensator 7 is formed in multiple parts from several segments 14. Each segment 14 is made of sheet metal, with the sealing lip section 8 formed from two webs 19, each of which can be inserted into an opening 11 provided in the radial support ring section 6. For this purpose, the support ring is designed according to Fig. 4 in the area of the radial support section is provided with several openings 11. Alternatively, segment 1 is provided with a web 19 which can be inserted into an opening 11.
[0014] In the Fig. Figures 6 to 10 show a second embodiment in which the centrifugal force compensator 7 is formed from several segments 15, each of which has an opening into which a nose 20 projects from the radial support section 6 of the support ring 3. For this purpose, according to Fig. A corresponding opening 21 is provided on segment 15. Alternatively, several openings are provided on segment 15 into which several lugs from the radial support section 6 are inserted.
[0015] According to Fig. Figure 11 describes a third embodiment of the invention in which the sealing lip section 8 of the centrifugal force compensator 7 is positioned radially away from the shaft and away from the sealing lip 4. In this embodiment, the sealing lip section 8 extends in a region near the ring spring 15, thus achieving increased centrifugal force compensation by the counterweight. This allows for centrifugal force compensation at high rotational speeds of the hollow shaft 23, enabling a reliable sealing effect of the sealing lip 4.
[0016] The present invention provides a radial shaft seal 1 that effectively compensates for high centrifugal forces at the sealing lip 4. The radial shaft seal 1 according to the invention is particularly suitable for installation in a gearbox with a high-speed hollow shaft 23. The multi-part design of the centrifugal force compensator allows for the integration of such a compensator into both small and large radial shaft seals. Furthermore, variations in the shape of the segments can be achieved with minimal effort. Thus, a simple lever mechanism is integrated into the radial shaft seal 1, capable of compensating for centrifugal forces occurring at the sealing lip 4. The direct support on the backing ring 3 ensures reliable compensation of the centrifugal forces.According to the present invention, overmolding of the segments in the area of the counterweight section 10 is not necessary, which also enables a simpler manufacture of the radial shaft seal 1.
