Abstract

Vehicle power source (10, 200) attached to a vehicle (11), wherein the vehicle power source (10, 200) comprises: a generator (16, 201) coupled to an internal combustion engine (12); a first energy storage device coupled to the generator (16, 201) and set up to be controlled to be charged and discharged within a first charging and discharging range (X1) of a state of charge (S1) of the first energy storage device; a second energy storage device, which is coupled in parallel to the first energy storage device with the generator (16, 201), wherein a terminal voltage (V2) of the second energy storage device is lower than a terminal voltage (V1) of the first energy storage device, and is configured to be controlled to be charged and discharged within a second charging and discharging range (X2) of a state of charge (S2) of the second energy storage device, which is higher than the state of charge (S1) of the first charging and discharging range (X1); and a charging and discharging control device (51) that controls a voltage (VG) generated by the generator (16, 201) and controls the charging and discharging of the first energy storage device, where a lower limit voltage (V1L) of the first charging and discharging range (X1) is set higher than an upper limit voltage (V2H) of the second charging and discharging range (X2), wherein the charging and discharging control device (51) raises the generated voltage (VG) to a voltage (Va, Vb) that is higher than the terminal voltage (V1) of the first energy storage device in order to effect a current supply from the generator (16, 201) to the first energy storage device, and the charging and discharging control device (51) reduces the generated voltage (VG) to a voltage lower than the terminal voltage (V1) of the first energy storage device in order to cause a current supply from the first energy storage device to an electrical load (33).
