Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a device for supplying air into a vehicle interior, wherein the device comprises an air humidification device comprising an adsorbent that binds moisture contained in the air by adsorption.
[0002] Modern motor vehicles typically have an air conditioning system comprising an air conditioning unit, which is part of a system for supplying air to the vehicle interior. The air is guided via a plurality of air ducts to corresponding outlet nozzles provided on the interior side. The air can be tempered via the air conditioning system. The air can either be fresh air, i.e. air taken in from the vehicle's surroundings, conditioned accordingly by the air conditioning system, and supplied to the interior. However, it can also be interior air if the ventilation operates in recirculation mode, i.e. if the air is circulated in a quasi-closed system. To prevent the air in the vehicle interior from becoming too humid, thus resulting in an increased level of humidity, which can be particularly the case when conditioned fresh air is supplied, it is known to dehumidify through condensation using the air conditioning unit or the evaporator provided in the air conditioning unit, through which the air flow is directed. This means that the air humidity contained condenses on the cold evaporator. This can achieve a sufficient degree of dehumidification. However, a considerable portion of the mechanical power of the refrigeration circuit or the power of the evaporator is required for dehumidification, which is disadvantageous for energy consumption reasons.
[0003] Therefore, an alternative dehumidification option has already been proposed: dehumidification using an adsorption device. Such a motor vehicle is known, for example, from DE 10 2011 079 427 A1. The adsorption dehumidifier is part of a dehumidification system that serves to adsorbively dry supply air, i.e., recirculated and / or fresh air, before it is fed into the vehicle interior. The air to be supplied to the interior is first fed to the dehumidifier, where the air humidity is adsorbed onto the drying material contained in the dehumidifier. The drying material, i.e., the adsorption agent, is housed in a housing that has an air inlet and an air outlet, so that the air to be dehumidified, or dehumidified, can enter or exit after flowing through the adsorption agent. The sufficiently loaded adsorbent can also be regenerated by desorption. This desorption, in which the adsorptively bound moisture is expelled by the addition of energy, occurs by heating the adsorbent contained in the housing. Heating coils or similar devices are provided on the housing side for this purpose.
[0004] During desorption operation, air dehumidification is not possible, which means that the generation and supply of conditioned air and consequently acceptable air conditioning is not possible during this time.
[0005] DE 199 00 846 A1 discloses a motor vehicle dehumidifier for dehumidifying ventilation air. The dehumidifier comprises a desiccant unit containing a granular desiccant. The desiccant unit is rotated 180° at predetermined intervals, whereby a portion of the desiccant is alternately arranged on a dehumidification side and another portion of the desiccant is arranged on a regeneration side. A comparable system in this regard is known from JP H09-156 349 A. Other air dehumidification devices are known from DE 195 45 335 A1 and US Pat. No. 6,029,462 A.
[0006] The invention is based on the problem of providing a motor vehicle which is improved compared to the aforementioned.
[0007] To solve this problem, in a motor vehicle of the type mentioned at the outset, the invention provides that the free-flowing adsorbent can be conveyed in a circuit in which a loading device, in which the adsorbent comes into contact with air to be dehumidified, and a desorption device, in which the loaded adsorbent is thermally desorbed, are integrated, wherein the adsorbent can be conveyed by means of at least one mechanical conveying device, namely a screw conveyor.
[0008] According to the invention, a free-flowing adsorbent is provided that can be conveyed in a circuit, i.e., can be circulated within this circuit. This circuit incorporates a loading device and a desorption device. This means that the free-flowing adsorbent can be circulated within the circuit from the loading device to the desorption device and back. In the loading device, the adsorbent comes into contact with the air to be dehumidified and can therefore absorb the contained air humidity through adsorption. In the desorption device, the loaded adsorbent is thermally desorbed, i.e., the bound air humidity is thermally expelled, thus regenerating the adsorbent so that it can be fed back into the loading device. There is therefore a circulating cycle in which the adsorbent is continuously loaded and unloaded.
[0009] This has the advantage that the loading device always contains loadable adsorbent, i.e., adsorbent capable of absorbing air humidity, while, in parallel, previously loaded adsorbent in the desorption device is either being regenerated or is already in regenerated form. If a suitable sensor, or after a certain period of time, or similar, determines that the adsorbent in the loading device is sufficiently loaded and needs to be replaced, it is merely necessary to transport the adsorbent to the desorption device, where it is regenerated. Simultaneously with this transport, "fresh," regenerated adsorbent is transported back to the loading device, so that air dehumidification can continue there virtually without interruption.
[0010] Since the loading device and the desorption device are separate from each other or are arranged downstream of each other, it can be ensured that loadable adsorbent is present in the loading device at all times, thus enabling air dehumidification. A prolonged interruption of the dehumidification and thus the air conditioning operation due to the necessary desorption of the loaded adsorbent is therefore no longer a problem in the motor vehicle according to the invention. Rather, due to the design of the circuit or the integration of the loading and desorption devices into the circuit, it can be ensured that loadable adsorbent is always present in the loading device and that the adsorbent can always be regenerated via the desorption device, independently of the actual dehumidification and air conditioning operation.
[0011] The free-flowing adsorbent, which is present, for example, in the form of granules or a coarser-grained powder, can be conveyed in various ways. For this purpose, the invention provides at least one mechanical conveying device, namely a screw conveyor. This mechanical conveying device is arranged at a suitable location within the circuit. A control device, which preferably controls the operation of the conveying device or the entire loading device, activates the conveying device at the appropriate time, so that it drives the free-flowing adsorbent through the circuit. The conveying takes place in such a way that the loading device is completely emptied of loaded adsorbent and the loaded adsorbent is largely or completely fed to the desorption device, while regenerated adsorbent is transported into the loading device to completely fill it.
[0012] Alternatively or additionally, the conveying can also be carried out pneumatically, using the air flow of the air to be dehumidified or the dehumidified air that has already passed through the loading device. The air flow or the air pressure provided by the air flow to be dehumidified or the dehumidified air flow is therefore used to drive the free-flowing adsorbent through the circuit. In this case, only a portion of this air flow can be used for conveying, while the remainder can be fed to the associated air conditioning unit. In the first case, air is still fed to the air conditioning unit, as only a portion is used for pneumatic conveying. In the second case, a large portion or almost all of the air is used for pneumatic conveying, whereby, since this conveying takes place very quickly, the air supply to the air conditioning unit is only interrupted briefly, i.e. for just a few seconds.
[0013] In a further development of the invention, a control device is expediently provided via which the mechanical conveying device can be controlled. In principle, it is conceivable that the control device is provided via which, in the case of pneumatic conveying, at least one valve device for opening and closing the circuit can be controlled. Depending on the conveying operation, the control device controls the mechanical conveying device accordingly in order to convey the adsorbent continuously or discontinuously. If pneumatic conveying is used, a corresponding valve or, if necessary, several valves can be controlled via the control device, via which the circuit is opened and closed.Depending on the situation, a corresponding device can also be controlled via this, which ensures that sufficient air is supplied to pressurise the adsorbent for conveying, thus also controlling the air or air flow.
[0014] If discontinuous conveying is planned, this can be controlled on a time-dependent basis. This means that the adsorbent is "circulated" at predetermined intervals. A fixed conveying rhythm can be provided, or one that depends on the operating time of the air conditioning unit. For example, after 3 hours of operation of the air conditioning unit, conveying is automatically initiated, or something similar. The intervals can be parameterized, so that appropriate adjustments can be made depending on the application location, i.e., where the vehicle is traveling. This can be done automatically, for example, based on location, by determining the location of the vehicle locally via an on-board device, or manually by the driver themselves.
[0015] Alternatively, discontinuous conveying can also be carried out depending on a measured value from a sensor device. This means that at least one corresponding measured value is recorded via this sensor device, which serves as a criterion for determining whether conveying is necessary or not.
[0016] As such a measured value, at least one measured value representing a measure of the humidity of the air to be dehumidified or of the dehumidified air or of the interior air can be determined by means of the sensor device. One or more suitable humidity sensors are therefore used, via which a corresponding measured value can be recorded. This measured value can be determined for the air to be dehumidified. In other words, it is checked how humid the air to be dehumidified is. Alternatively, a measured value relating to the dehumidified air, which has already flowed through the adsorption agent, can also be recorded. Alternatively, a measured value relating to the interior air as such can also be used, i.e. the air humidity in the interior is specifically recorded.
[0017] Preferably, several measured values are to be determined, with one measured value being a measure of the humidity of the air to be dehumidified and one or more further measured values being a measure of the humidity of the air in the vehicle interior and / or directly after it has passed through the adsorbent. Thus, one measured value is recorded for the "air inlet", i.e. for the air to be dehumidified, and at least one measured value is recorded at the "air outlet", i.e. relating to the dehumidified air, either directly after it has passed through the adsorbent or in the vehicle interior, although both can of course also be recorded. By comparing the measured value for the air to be dehumidified and one or both measured values for the dehumidified air, it is possible to determine the performance of the adsorbent in relation to dehumidification and thus to estimate its remaining efficiency. From a certain threshold, the control device can then determine that the adsorbent is sufficiently loaded and that a change would be necessary, whereupon the corresponding conveying operation is initiated, whether it is realized via mechanical conveying or via pneumatic conveying.
[0018] To determine the various measured values, appropriate humidity sensors are provided as described, which are installed at various locations on the vehicle, whereby the measured value of the humidity of the air to be dehumidified is preferably recorded directly before entering the adsorption agent and the measured value for the dehumidified air after the adsorption agent is preferably also recorded immediately after passing through.
[0019] The air to be dehumidified is fed to the adsorbent so that the air flows through the free-flowing, very large-surface-area adsorbent and comes into contact with the adsorbent over as large a surface area as possible. To enable this, the loading device advantageously has two sections spaced apart by a gap, each with one or more openings through which the air to be dehumidified enters a section of the device containing the adsorbent, and between which the adsorbent is accommodated. The loading device is thus designed as a large-surface structure. The sections, which enclose the adsorbent in a quasi-housing-like manner at the front and rear, or which define the device area in which the adsorbent is accommodated, are preferably flat or plate-shaped and provided with one or more openings, so that a sufficiently large inflow area and good contact of the air with the adsorbent is ensured. The sections are particularly preferably designed in the form of, or comprise, grids, sieves, fabrics, or filters with openings through which air can flow. Preferably, corresponding grids or the like are arranged at the front and rear, the mesh size of which is naturally dimensioned such that the granular or grainy adsorbent is completely retained. Sufficient air access is possible via the front grid, and the dehumidified air can leave the adsorption area via the rear grid.Alternatively, a more stable metal plate with a plurality of inlet openings can be provided on the front side, followed by a grid, screen, or the like defining the area containing the adsorbent. A combination of grid, screen, or the like and a perforated metal plate is also provided on the rear side. The housing-like structure is naturally closed at the edges by corresponding side closure elements, with a corresponding inlet and outlet provided through which the fresh adsorbent can be introduced and the loaded adsorbent can be removed.
[0020] The desorption device is preferably thermally coupled to a heating medium, via which the desorption device can be heated. Here, too, thermal desorption occurs, meaning that the absorbed water or moisture is expelled by heating the adsorption medium. However, as described, the desorption device is decoupled from the adsorption device, meaning that desorption occurs at a different location than adsorption.
[0021] According to a first alternative of the invention, the heating medium itself can be a heat transfer fluid that serves to cool at least one operating component installed in the motor vehicle. If the vehicle is equipped with an internal combustion engine, for example, this is cooled by a cooling fluid that circulates in a circuit. This means that heat that is already present is used for desorption by using the heat of this coolant, i.e. the heat transfer fluid, for desorption. This has a particularly advantageous effect on the energy balance, since no additional energy is required for heating and thus for desorption. Such a heat transfer fluid can also be provided in an electrically driven vehicle or a vehicle that is at least partially electrically powered; there, for example, it also serves to cool the electrical operating components that generate sufficient heat during operation.
[0022] As an alternative to utilizing the heat already generated in such a heat transfer fluid, it is conceivable to provide an electrically operated heating device to heat the desorption device. This is suitable, for example, for purely electrically powered vehicles. Such a heating device is therefore integrated into the desorption device or assigned to it, thus enabling efficient heating.
[0023] If a heat transfer fluid is used for heating, it preferably flows through channels formed by the desorption device, which, for example, extend through the volume of the desorption device into which the adsorbent to be generated is conveyed, or which are assigned to this volume. They can, for example, be routed along the outside of the desorption device, which of course also has a corresponding housing, so that the corresponding housing wall(s) are heated. Since the heat transfer fluid is continuously circulated, continuous heating of the desorption device is ensured, thus ensuring complete desorption.
[0024] If an electrical heating element is provided, this can preferably be guided in the volume of the desorption device in a multi-winding manner; alternatively, the heating coil(s) can also be provided on the outside of the device housing, so that sufficient heating and thus desorption is also possible in this way.
[0025] During desorption, as described, the adsorptively bound water is expelled. This means that water is produced by the desorption device. Since it is clean water, this water can either be drained via a pipe and allowed to drip off at a suitable location. However, it is preferably collected in a water collection container. This collection container can either be provided directly by the desorption device or be associated with it. The desorption device is then connected to the collection container via a corresponding pipe, so that any water produced by the device is directed into the collection container.
[0026] A full collection container must then be emptied manually from time to time, for example. However, it can be particularly expedient to provide a supply device for supplying water taken from the collection container via an atomizer device into the vehicle interior or into an air duct leading into this interior. According to this embodiment of the invention, the collected water is therefore used to actively humidify the somewhat overly dry interior air, if necessary. This is achieved by an atomizer device, for example comprising a diaphragm pump and a nebulizer nozzle, which makes it possible to atomize water drawn or pumped out of the collection container directly into the vehicle interior or to spray it into an air duct leading into this duct, so that it then reaches the interior. Defined air humidification can therefore take place here, advantageously using the desorbed water that is already produced.
[0027] The atomizer device can be operated via a control device or the control device depending on at least one measured value from a sensor device or the sensor device. Here, too, at least one measured value representing a measure of the humidity of the interior air and, if applicable, a temperature value indicating the temperature inside and / or outside the vehicle are expediently determined by means of the sensor device. In this case, the subsequent, renewed air humidification can therefore be controlled depending on the actual air humidity in the interior. If necessary, a temperature value of the air inside the vehicle or a temperature value of the outside air can also be taken into account in the control system. If the interior temperature is very high, air humidification can be expedient, especially if a very high outside temperature is also detected. On the other hand, if the humidity inside is higher and the outside air is cold, it can be assumed that additional humidification is not necessary.
[0028] In addition to the motor vehicle according to the invention, the invention further relates to an air dehumidification device for such a motor vehicle as described above, comprising an adsorbent that binds moisture contained in the air by adsorption, wherein this air dehumidification device is characterized according to the invention in that the free-flowing adsorbent can be conveyed in a circuit into which a loading device, in which the adsorbent comes into contact with air to be dehumidified, and a desorption device, in which the loaded adsorbent is thermally desorbed, are integrated, wherein the adsorbent can be conveyed by means of at least one mechanical conveying device, namely a screw conveyor.
[0029] All features, details, functions and advantages described above for the motor vehicle according to the invention are equally considered to be disclosed as essential to the invention for the air dehumidification device according to the invention and can be claimed as being essential to the invention with regard to this.
[0030] Further advantages and details of the invention will become apparent from the exemplary embodiment described below and from the drawings. These show: Fig. 1 a schematic diagram of an air dehumidification and humidification device together with an air conditioning device, and Fig. 2 a schematic diagram of a motor vehicle according to the invention.
[0031] Fig. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a device according to the invention for air dehumidification and humidification together with an air conditioning device for a motor vehicle 1 (see Fig. 2), whereby only the relevant components concerning the loading device and the desorption device as well as the associated vehicle components are shown.
[0032] Shown is an air conditioning system 2 in the form of an air conditioning unit 3, to which a charging device 4 is assigned. The air conditioning unit 3 comprises an evaporator 5, via which air is cooled in a conventional manner. The evaporator 5 is integrated into a suitable cooling circuit, which is not shown in detail.
[0033] Associated with the evaporator 5 is a heating device 6, which serves to regulate the temperature of the previously cooled air. In the example shown, the heating device 6 is fed by a heat transfer fluid 7, which is typically used to cool components that heat up during operation, such as an internal combustion engine or the like. The heat transfer fluid 7 circulates in a conventional manner in a circuit into which the heating device 6, for example, a heating register, is integrated.
[0034] The loading device 4 comprises a housing-like enclosure 8, which is formed, for example, by a front grille 9 and a rear grille 10. These two grilles 9, 10, which have sufficiently large openings or meshes, allow air 11 to be dehumidified to enter and air 12 to exit after dehumidification. A free-flowing adsorbent 13 is accommodated between the grilles 9, 10, which can also be referred to as corresponding sections. It is thus present in loose bulk. In the illustrated embodiment, the loading device 4 is arranged on the housing 14 of the air conditioning unit 3.The air 11 to be dehumidified is supplied via an air duct 15, shown only in dashed lines, enters the device area in which the adsorbent 13 is accommodated via the front grille 9, comes into contact with the adsorbent, for example a zeolite or another reversible reaction medium, which is loaded with transported air humidity via this, and exits again via the rear grille 10. There it reaches the area of the evaporator 5, where it is cooled, and then, if necessary, reheated in the area of the heating device 6. The air, tempered in this way, is distributed via a distribution device (not shown in detail) comprising one or more air ducts and the like, in order to then be distributed in the interior of the motor vehicle, which is also not shown in detail here.
[0035] The loading device 4 is integrated into a circuit 16, via which the free-flowing adsorbent 13 can be circulated or transported within the circuit 16. For this purpose, appropriate pipes or hoses are provided through which the adsorbent 13 is conveyed. In the example shown, a first mechanical conveying device 17 and a second mechanical conveying device 18 are provided for conveying, which are controlled via a common control device 19. For example, these are screw conveyors or the like, with a screw conveyor being provided according to the invention.
[0036] Furthermore, a desorption device 20 is integrated into the circuit 16, which is Fig. 1 is additionally shown in an enlarged view. This desorption device 20 serves to thermally dehumidify the adsorbent 13 laden with air humidity after it has been transported from the loading device 4 to the desorption device 20 via the conveyor devices 17, 18, thus thermally expelling the absorbed moisture. For this purpose, the adsorbent 13 (see the enlarged partial view) is fed via the pipe or hose system to the desorption device 20 and enters a housing 21 therein. This housing 21 is interspersed with a plurality of channels 34 through which the heat transfer fluid 7 flows. The channels 34 penetrate the volume of the housing 21, so that the adsorbent 13 accommodated therein is heated. This means that the desorption device 20 is thermally coupled to the heating device 6 or its supply lines, so that the heat which is already generated and which is carried by the heat transfer fluid 7 is used for thermal desorption.
[0037] After desorption, for example, the adsorbent 13 remains in the desorption device 20 and is only removed from it when reloaded adsorbent 13 is removed from the loading device 4. At the same time, regenerated adsorbent 13 is transported back to the loading device 4.
[0038] This means that the adsorbent 13 is continuously or discontinuously circulated or transported within the circuit 16 from the loading device 4, where it is loaded with atmospheric moisture, to the desorption device 20, where it is regenerated. This results in loaded adsorbent 13 being continuously or discontinuously withdrawn from the loading device 4 by means of the conveying devices 17, 18, and regenerated adsorbent 13 being conveyed into the loading device 4, while simultaneously loaded adsorbent 13 is re-conveyed into the desorption device 20. In this way, regenerated adsorbent 13 is permanently available, which can be used without any loss of time or interruption of the dehumidification system and thus, if necessary, also the air conditioning unit 3.
[0039] Water inevitably accumulates in the desorption device 20 due to thermal expulsion. This water 22 is then collected in a collection container 23, which is assigned to the desorption device 20. This means that the collection container 23 is continuously filled with newly accumulating water. Excess water can drain via an overflow 24 and flow to a discharge line 35, through which condensate accumulating at the evaporator 5 is also discharged, where it is then also discharged.
[0040] Regardless, a certain amount of water 22 is always available, which is stored in the collection container 23. It is now possible to draw water 22 from the collection container 23 via a supply device 25, for example, a diaphragm pump with an associated nebulizer nozzle, and to specifically add it to the already dehumidified air at a suitable location or to mist it directly into the interior of the vehicle in order to increase the humidity again if the air humidity in the interior is too low. This means that the previously dehumidified air can be specifically rehumidified if necessary. The operation of the supply device 25 is preferably also controlled via the control device 19.
[0041] In the example shown, several sensors 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 are assigned to the control device 19. The humidity sensor 26 is used to detect the humidity of the air 11 supplied from outside via the air duct 15. The humidity sensor 27 is used to detect the humidity of the air in the interior. Finally, the humidity sensor 28 is used to detect the humidity of the already dehumidified air 12 immediately behind the loading device 4. All of these sensors provide corresponding measured values, which are passed to the control device 19.
[0042] Sensor 29 is a temperature sensor that measures the outside temperature, while sensor 30 is a temperature sensor that detects the inside temperature. This means that both humidity and temperature measurements are recorded. The temperature measurements are also sent to the control device 19.
[0043] This now processes the corresponding measured values and uses them to control both the conveyor devices 17, 18 and the feed device 25.
[0044] Based on the measured values of sensors 26, 27, and 28 regarding the air to be dehumidified or dehumidified in the interior or directly behind the adsorbent 13, it is possible to determine the efficiency of the loading device 4, and thus how effectively the adsorption process is still proceeding. For example, if the measured values of sensors 26 (outside air humidity) and 28 (air humidity directly behind the adsorbent 13) do not change significantly, this is a sign that the adsorbent 13 is heavily loaded. It must be replaced. The control device 19 then activates the two conveying devices 17, 18 so that they recirculate the free-flowing adsorbent 13.The loaded adsorbent 13 is conveyed to the simultaneously discharged desorption device 20, where regenerated adsorbent 13, or regenerated adsorbent 13 already present in the pipe system, is simultaneously fed into the loading device 4. It passes between the grids 9, 10, enabling a simple, continuous exchange that, in particular, does not disrupt the air conditioning and dehumidification operations.
[0045] At the same time, the measured values of the humidity sensor 27 and one or both temperature sensors 29, 30 can be used to determine whether additional humidification of the air is necessary to compensate for potentially excessively low air humidity in the interior. If this is determined by processing the corresponding measured values, the control device 19 activates the supply device 25, which then draws off water 22 and injects it into the interior or an air duct leading thereto via a misting nozzle (not shown in detail).
[0046] Fig. Finally, Figure 2 shows a schematic diagram of a motor vehicle 1 according to the invention, in which the essential components of the humidification and dehumidification system provided according to the invention are shown. Firstly, the internal combustion engine 31 is shown as an example, but this can also be an electric drive or the like that heats up during operation. The corresponding lines 32 in which the heat transfer fluid 7 circulates are shown. The associated cooling device, etc., is not shown for the sake of clarity.
[0047] Also shown is the air conditioning unit 3 with the evaporator 5 and the heating device 6 as well as the associated loading device 4 and the desorption device 20 connected downstream of this in the circuit 16. The two conveying devices 17, 18 are also shown integrated in the circuit 16.
[0048] Also shown is the collection container 23 and the associated feed device 25 with the atomizer nozzle 33 shown as an example.
[0049] Finally, Fig. 2 also the control device 19, which controls the operation of the entire humidification and dehumidification system, in conjunction with the sensors 26 - 30.
[0050] The Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 are purely schematic diagrams, which only explain the principle underlying the invention. Of course, the individual components can also be arranged in other ways, as long as it is ensured that the free-flowing adsorbent 13 is circulated between a loading device 4 and a desorption device 20.
