Description

[0001] The invention relates to a means of transport for rescuing non-ambulatory persons from dangerous situations according to the preamble of the first patent claim.

[0002] Rigid stretchers are most commonly used for rescuing, transporting, or evacuating people. They consist of a frame and a fabric covering for transporting a person lying down. Stretchers come in various designs, some being made from a single piece and others being collapsible.

[0003] Both public buildings, such as government offices, and private properties, such as office complexes, banks, and hotels, as well as other places where relatively large numbers of people congregate in close proximity, are legally required to implement preventative measures for emergency rescue. Nevertheless, the equipment in such buildings is often inadequate. Apart from hospitals and senior living facilities, the provision of such first-aid supplies in the event of an emergency is generally insufficient. Valuable time, which can cost lives, is often lost before professional rescue teams with their own equipment arrive.

[0004] Furthermore, existing stretchers have a number of disadvantages. Apart from the time it takes to transport a stretcher from storage to a hazardous location, they are often unavailable or in practice in a dilapidated state.

[0005] DE 100 19 035 A1 describes a rescue lying mattress with straps attached to its long sides, which make it possible to fix the person lying on the mattress.

[0006] In DE 10 2005 055 368 A1 a rescue mattress is also described which has straps for fixing the person lying on it, as well as carrying and pulling loops.

[0007] US patent 2013 / 0180046 A1 discloses a collapsible platform for transporting a person. The platform has several recesses on the sides that can serve as carrying handles. However, transport by a single rescuer is not possible due to the relatively thin design of the platform and the lack of handles on the front.

[0008] DE 103 34 270 B3 discloses a transport device for transporting a person with a body comprising a plurality of elongated elements, a longitudinal axis, and a transverse axis, around which a sliding endless belt is wound. The plurality of elongated elements are oriented in the direction of the transverse axis of the body and are articulated to one another in such a way that the transport device can be bent or rolled up in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The endless belt is rotatable around the body in the longitudinal direction of the elongated elements. Sufficient stability of the transport device itself, when a person is simultaneously resting on it, cannot be guaranteed due to the mobility of the elongated elements relative to one another.

[0009] Carrying / rescue sheets for transporting persons are known from DE 10 2006 032 863 A1, DE 200 23 065 U1 and DE 203 14 303 U1.

[0010] DE202015103258U1 describes a cover for a mattress.

[0011] Document US 2013 / 0180046A1 describes a foldable, multi-part transport device for patients. This device comprises several rigid plastic elements arranged together, which are relatively flat and feature multiple handle openings.

[0012] German patent DE 10 2008 052 968 B3 discloses a transport device for patients. This device comprises a rigid board, which may also be elastic, surrounded by an endless belt. This endless belt is adapted to the shape of the board and can slide around it. The transport device is designed only for carrying a person, not for pulling.

[0013] German patent DE 20 2012 004 581 U1 discloses a rescue and evacuation sheet which is positioned under a conventional mattress and attached to it using retaining loops. Use without an additional conventional mattress, which can be very bulky and heavy and therefore unsuitable for transporting a person, is not intended.

[0014] US Patent 3,489,194 A discloses a mat lined with cloths, which is foldable and can be brought into a compact form using zippers. The mat has pull loops but no carrying straps, so a person to be rescued, positioned on the unfolded mat, must be dragged across the ground.

[0015] A major disadvantage of existing stretchers is the difficulty of safely transporting people through stairwells. This poses a risk of injuring the person being rescued. However, the rescuers themselves are also at risk of injury when evacuating people under stress, time pressure, and the threat of fire. Furthermore, current solutions are ergonomically inefficient for a single rescuer. The handles are often positioned in such a way that a rescuer working alone has to bend down awkwardly to pull the stretcher.

[0016] The biggest disadvantage of known stretchers, however, is that they are designed for use by at least two people (rescuers). This means that two rescuers can only rescue one person at a time. For this reason, rescuing people who are unable to walk is particularly problematic.

[0017] Firefighters also have carrying sheets as another known solution. However, these usually require three rescuers to retrieve a person who is unable to walk. Furthermore, carrying sheets are generally not available to first responders.

[0018] The object of the invention is to develop a means of transport for rescuing persons which can be used by both two and one person, and which can be used in corridors as well as in stairwells for rescuing non-ambulatory persons.

[0019] This problem is solved by the characterizing features of the first claim. Advantageous embodiments are described in the dependent claims.

[0020] The transport device for rescuing non-ambulatory persons from dangerous situations has a base body with two end faces and two long sides, wherein the base body is provided with a head strap on at least one first end face and has a top surface on which the persons to be rescued can be placed and a bottom surface, and wherein the base body is designed in the manner of a mattress and consists of a head section and a foot section such that these are connected to each other in a hinge-like manner and can be pivoted from a folded non-use position, in which the undersides of the head section and the foot section lie against each other, into an unfolded use position, and wherein the head section and the foot section are each individually covered by at least one cover and the covers are connected to each other such that the head section and foot section, in the unfolded use position, rest against adjacent contact surfaces, which are located opposite the end faces of the base body, lie against each other, and that the covers of the head section and foot section each have an overhang on the underside pointing towards the respective contact surface of the head section or foot section, at which the covers are sewn together in such a way that the overhang is positioned between the contact surfaces in the unfolded operating position of the transport device.

[0021] It is particularly advantageous if the movable connection between the head and foot sections allows the two parts of the base to be folded together and if they are of the same length. This enables space-saving storage outside of hazardous situations. The transport device according to the invention can thus be advantageously stored in strategically relevant locations without being obtrusive.

[0022] Because the base is designed in the style of a mattress, a person who has already been brought to safety can comfortably remain lying on the base until, for example, further rescue workers have arrived or until it is possible to transfer them to a bed or similar.

[0023] Preferably, the base body has a height of at least 10 cm.

[0024] The position of the connection point between the head and foot sections, as well as the height of the base, advantageously ensures that the two contact surfaces are pressed against each other when the transport device is lifted in the unfolded state, preventing it from folding in such a way that the tops of the head and foot sections lie against each other. This ensures that the underside of the transport device, when lifted in the unfolded state, provides secure support for the person being transported.

[0025] The filling of the base body preferably consists of a particularly lightweight material, such as foam.

[0026] The covers that hold the filling can be closed with a three-sided zipper. Preferably, there is no zipper on the contact surfaces. The covers can be designed in a signal color. This ensures, among other things, that a person who has been brought to safety and is still on the transport vehicle can be located particularly easily by arriving rescue services.

[0027] Preferably, the underside of the base body is made of a sliding material and / or coated with a sliding material. Particularly preferably, the coverings are made of a sliding material, at least on the underside.

[0028] The sliding material is preferably a polyamide fabric.

[0029] The top surface of the base or the covers can be made of a non-slip, preferably flocked, fabric. This advantageously prevents a transported person from slipping off.

[0030] Advantageously, a foot control strap is arranged on the second end face, opposite the first. This serves, if necessary, to control or maneuver the person on the means of transport.

[0031] Both the head strap and the foot strap are preferably made of nylon. The head strap, at least, preferably has a length of 45–55 cm, and more preferably approximately 50 cm, between the first sewing points.

[0032] Advantageously, the first sewing points for the head strap and the foot control strap are arranged on the long sides of the main body at a distance of no more than 2 cm from the nearest end face. The first sewing points preferably have a length of approximately 10 cm.

[0033] The position of the first attachment points and the length of the head pull strap result in a pulling height of approximately 52 cm for the transport device. This means that a rescuer can comfortably pull the device behind them with an outstretched arm on level ground, while the highest point of the main body is approximately 52 cm above the ground. This has proven to be the most comfortable and stable position for the person being rescued. If the upper body of the person being rescued were significantly higher, there would be a risk of them slipping down the transport device, or additional securing elements would be necessary to prevent this. If the upper body of the person being rescued were lower, or even almost parallel to the ground, this would be very uncomfortable, especially when transporting them over uneven terrain or stairs. The head strap and / or the foot control strap can additionally be attached to the main body via a Velcro point, which is preferably located in the middle of the respective strap.

[0034] In particular, second sewing points for the head pull strap and / or the foot control strap are arranged on the longitudinal sides of the base body in such a way that first carrying loops are formed by the head pull strap and / or the foot control strap, which are located on the longitudinal sides of the base body, wherein the distance between the first sewing points and the associated second sewing points and thus the length of the first carrying loops is at least 14 cm.

[0035] Furthermore, at least two secondary carrying loops can be arranged on the longitudinal sides of the base body. Preferably, the distance between the sewing points of each secondary carrying loop is also at least 14 cm.

[0036] Preferably, at least two pairs of securing straps are attached opposite each other to third sewing points on the longitudinal sides of the base body, wherein two straps of a securing strap pair can be detachably connected to each other by a fastener.

[0037] An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the means of transport is contained in a cover when not in use, which is preferably closable with at least one zipper, such that the head and foot sections of the base body can be folded together and enclosed in the cover.

[0038] The casing preferably has a stabilizing plate in the direction towards the wall.

[0039] Ideally, the casing should have at least one wall mounting point. This could be, for example, holes through which it can be attached to a wall using suitable screws.

[0040] Alternatively, the base body itself can have a wall mounting and be attached to a wall without a casing.

[0041] Instructions for use of the transport device may be printed on the cover and / or the base body to ensure correct use in an emergency.

[0042] The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment with accompanying drawings. These show: Fig. 1 a top view of the means of transport according to the invention; Fig. 2 a side view of a longitudinal side of the transport means according to the invention in the unfolded state; Fig. 3 a side view of a longitudinal side of the transport means according to the invention in the slightly folded state; Fig. 4 a side view of an end face of the transport means according to the invention; Fig. 5 a side view through the connection area of the transport means according to the invention before the head and foot parts are sewn together; Fig. 6 a side view through the connection area of the transport means according to the invention after sewing together the head and foot part; Fig. 7 a side view of a wall-mounted enclosure for a means of transport according to the invention; Fig. 8 the reverse side of a cover for a means of transport according to the invention.

[0043] Fig. Figure 1 shows a top view of the transport means according to the invention, Fig. 2 a side view of a longitudinal side of the transport means according to the invention in the unfolded state and Fig. 3 a side view of a longitudinal side of the transport means according to the invention in a slightly folded state.

[0044] The means of transport consists of a basic body 1, which is dimensioned in terms of length L and width B such that a person can lie on it. Depending on where in the world the means of transport is to be used, the basic dimensions may vary slightly. In Germany, a minimum length L of 170 cm and a minimum width B of 50 cm can be assumed. The height H of the basic body 1 is at least 10 cm.

[0045] The base body 1 has two end faces 1.1, 1.2 and two long sides, a bottom surface 1.3 and a top surface 1.4. The base body 1 consists of a head section 1.6 and a foot section 1.7, which are connected to each other by a hinge. When the base body 1 is unfolded, the head section 1.6 and the foot section 1.7 rest against each other at two adjacent contact surfaces 1.81 and 1.82. The length L1 of the head section 1.6 is approximately equal to the length L2 of the foot section 1.7.

[0046] The headboard 1.6 and footboard 1.7 are each covered by a cover which has an overhang 1.61 and 1.71 at the lower edge of the contact surfaces 1.81 and 1.82.

[0047] A head strap 2 is attached to a first end face 1.1 of the base body 1. This is detachably attached to the base body 1 in the middle by a hook and loop fastener 2.1.

[0048] On the opposite end face 1.2 a foot control strap 3 is arranged, which is detachably attached to the base body 1 in the middle by a Velcro point 3.1.

[0049] The head strap 2 and foot strap 3 are each attached to the longitudinal sides of the base body 1 by two first sewing points 4.11, 4.12, 4.13 and 4.14. These first sewing points 4.11, 4.12, 4.13 and 4.14 are preferably arranged at a distance of less than 2 cm from the nearest end face 1.1, 1.2 of the base body 1. At least the head strap 2 preferably has a length of 45–55 cm, particularly preferably about 50 cm, between the first sewing points 4.12, 4.14.

[0050] Second attachment points 4.22, 4.22, 4.23, and 4.24 for the head strap 2 and the foot control strap 3 are arranged on the longitudinal sides of the base body 1 such that the head strap 2 and the foot control strap 3 form first carrying loops 5.1 located on the longitudinal sides of the base body 1. The distance between the first attachment points 4.11, 4.12, 4.13, and 4.14 and the corresponding second attachment points 4.22, 4.22, 4.23, and 4.24, and thus the length of the first carrying loops 5.1, is at least 14 cm. Furthermore, second carrying loops 5.2 are attached to the base body 1; in this example, there are four. Two second carrying loops 5.2 are provided on each longitudinal side of the base body 1.

[0051] On the longitudinal sides of the base body 1, this has pairs of safety straps 6.1 and 6.2 connected to the base body 1. Fig. Figure 1 shows two pairs of safety straps 6.1 and 6.2; however, applications with more than two pairs of safety straps are also conceivable. The pairs of safety straps 6.1, 6.2 are each attached to the longitudinal sides of the base body 1 via third attachment points 4.31, 4.32, 4.33, 4.34, which are located in the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 are evident.

[0052] Each pair of safety straps 6.1, 6.2 comprises two individual straps 6a, 6b. Each pair of safety straps 6.1 and 6.2 has a fastener with which the individual straps 6a, 6b of each pair of safety straps 6.1, 6.2 can be fastened, thus securing a person lying on the base 1. The fastener consists of a click element 7.1 and a lock element 7.2.

[0053] The underside 1.5 of the base body 1 is made of a sliding material, preferably a polyamide fabric. The upper side 1.4, facing away from the underside 1.3 of the base body 1, can be provided with instructions for use and / or with symbols (e.g., a red cross) and / or with information on where to position the head.

[0054] Headboard 1.6 and footboard 1.7 are connected via a joint 9 ( Fig. 3) connected to each other in a pivoting manner. In Fig. Figure 3 shows a slightly folded state of the base body 1.

[0055] A marking for positioning the head (10) is attached to the headboard.

[0056] Fig. Figure 4 shows a side view of an end face 1.2 of the transport device according to the invention, here the head section 1.6. The head pull strap 2 is detachably attached to the base body 1 in the center via a hook and loop fastener 2.1. This prevents the head pull strap 2 from dangling annoyingly when the transport device is stationary, for example, when a rescued person is waiting on the transport device for the arrival of further rescue personnel.

[0057] In Fig. Figure 5 shows a side view through the connection area of the transport means according to the invention before the head 1.6 and foot 1.7 are sewn together. The cover of the head 1.6 has a projection 1.61 pointing towards its contact surface 1.82. The cover of the foot 1.7 has a projection 1.71 pointing towards its contact surface 1.81. The two projections 1.61, 1.71 are arranged near the underside 1.3 of the base body.

[0058] Fig. Figure 6 shows a side view through the connection area A of the transport means according to the invention after the head 1.6 and foot part 1.7 have been sewn together. The two projections 1.6, 1.7 were sewn together in such a way that they are positioned between the contact surfaces 1.81 and 1.82 when the transport means is unfolded for use.

[0059] In Fig. Figure 7 shows a side view of a cover 8 for a transport device according to the invention, attached to a wall W. When not in use, i.e., when the transport device is kept ready for use in a hazardous situation, a cover 8 is advantageously used which is equipped with at least one wall attachment 8.1. At least one zipper 8.2 closes the cover 8 and prevents the transport device from becoming soiled. The cover 8 can also be provided on the outside with instructions, symbols, etc.

[0060] The movable connection between the two components, head section 1.6 and foot section 1.7, allows for efficient storage of the transport device within the casing 8 by folding the head and foot sections together. When folded, the transport device can advantageously be mounted on a wall in a relatively space-saving manner. A particularly convenient position for the transport device in public buildings is next to a fire extinguisher or defibrillator. There, the transport device is easily found even by people unfamiliar with the building.

[0061] Fig. Figure 8 shows the reverse side of a cover 8 for a transport means according to the invention. Four fastening positions 8.1 for mounting on a wall are visible.

[0062] In the event of an emergency in a building where many people are in close proximity, people can be rescued more effectively than is currently possible, even before the fire department arrives. This applies, for example, to accidents, fires, terrorist attacks, or other emergencies.

[0063] Advantageously, only one person is needed to rescue a non-ambulatory person, whereas conventional stretchers require at least two. The features of the transport device according to the invention make transport particularly efficient and comfortable for both the person being transported and the rescuer, especially when transporting over uneven terrain or stairs. Dragging the device across the ground also makes it easier to transport heavier individuals. Furthermore, a person on the transport device cools down less quickly than if they remain on, for example, a rescue sheet.
