Abstract

Method for operating an exhaust gas turbocharger (1), in which: - the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) has an exhaust gas control device (2) comprising: ◯ an exhaust gas flap (3) for adjusting the exhaust gas flow through a turbine stage (4) of the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) during its operation, ◯ an actuator (5) coupled to the exhaust gas flap (3), and ◯ an actuator motor (6) by means of which the exhaust gas flap (3) is regulated and / or controlled, via the actuator (5), at least between a closed position (7), in which the exhaust gas flap (3) closes an exhaust gas opening (9) in a turbocharger housing (10) of the exhaust gas turbocharger (1), through which exhaust gas can flow during operation of the exhaust gas turbocharger (1), and at least one further position (8), in which the exhaust gas flap (3) allows exhaust gas to flow through the exhaust gas opening (9), - the actuator (5) is designed as a self-locking mechanism,by means of which the exhaust flap (3) can be biased in its closed position (7) relative to the turbocharger housing (10), - the turbine stage (4) of the exhaust turbocharger (1) is supplied with an exhaust gas flow, and - the exhaust gas flow through the turbine stage (4) is regulated and / or controlled by adjusting the exhaust flap (3) at least between the closed position (7) and at least one further position (8), characterized in that: - the actuator (6) is operated in pulsed mode (13) at least in the closed position (7) of the exhaust flap (3) in order to set a bias force (F_V) under which the exhaust flap (3) is biased relative to the turbocharger housing (10) at least temporarily, - in pulsed mode (13) a pulsed closing (14) and thereby operation of the actuator (6) take place such that the exhaust flap (3) in its closed position (7) exerts the bias force (F_V) on the exhaust opening (9) is pressed,- in pulse operation (13) a pulsed opening (18) also takes place and thereby the actuator (6) is controlled in such a way that the actuator (6) briefly moves the exhaust flap (3) from the closed position (7) towards the further position (8) by means of the self-locking actuator (5), and - in pulse operation (13) the pulsed opening (18) and the pulsed closing (14) are carried out alternately.
