Description

[0001] The invention relates to the use of an adhesive to improve the adhesion of a contact surface of a glove, wherein the adhesive is applied to the contact surface.

[0002] Such adhesives are already available, but often only offer a short-lived or slight improvement in adhesion.

[0003] DE 102 014 20 A1 concerns radiation-curable coatings whose adhesion is to be improved by the addition of adhesives. Examples given are radiation-curable lacquers that exhibit good adhesion to rigid glass, metal, or plastic substrates.

[0004] DE 20 2012 006 297 U1 relates to a climbing skin for attachment to the running surface of a ski, with an adhesive layer for reversible adhesion.

[0005] WO 2019 / 179952 A1 concerns an adhesive system for increasing the adhesion between a device, in particular a ball, and the skin of a user.

[0006] The task, therefore, is to achieve a significant improvement in the adhesion of a glove's contact surface.

[0007] The solution to this problem is provided by the use according to claim 1. Furthermore, a solution to the problem is provided according to the invention by the adhesive having the features described herein.

[0008] In particular, the invention proposes the use of an adhesive to improve the adhesion of a glove's contact surface, wherein the adhesive is applied to the contact surface and comprises at least the following components: water, at least one carboxylic acid ester component, and polyvinyl alcohol. The at least one carboxylic acid ester component forms a sticky film on the glove's contact surface, thereby significantly increasing the adhesion of the contact surface. The film thus enhances the adhesion to the surface.

[0009] Water is a carrier substance that is harmless to humans and the environment. Furthermore, it evaporates relatively quickly when the adhesive is applied to the contact surface, thus allowing the formation of thin, evenly distributed adhesive films with high cohesion, which are therefore particularly abrasion-resistant.

[0010] The contact surface can, for example, be designed to come into contact with another piece of sports equipment. Another advantage is that the adhesive film is not rigid but elastic. This makes it very robust and prevents it from detaching under mechanical stress, such as pressure and tension.

[0011] The term "adhesion" as used in the invention can refer to a measure of frictional resistance. Improved adhesion can therefore mean an increase in frictional resistance.

[0012] Advantageous embodiments of the solution according to claim 1 are described below, which alone or in combination with one or more advantageous embodiments further develop the solution according to claim 1.

[0013] According to the invention, the adhesive contains polyvinyl alcohol (abbreviated: PVOH) as a component. PVOH can act as a binder. It increases viscosity and thus extends the setting time. This allows the sticky film to be remoistened more easily, resulting in a longer-lasting increase in adhesion (or bonding time). Therefore, PVOH can positively influence both the adhesive properties and the bonding time.

[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment, the adhesive may contain at least one polyol as a component. For example, the adhesive may contain at least one sugar alcohol (alditol), in particular a triol. It is especially preferred that the adhesive contains glycerol (also known as propane-1,2,3-triol). This allows the contact surface of the glove to remain moist for a longer period, which has a positive effect on the adhesive properties of the contact surface. Furthermore, this prevents the sticky film formed on the surface by the at least one carboxylic acid ester component from drying out, which would otherwise reduce its stickiness.

[0015] To further improve the tackiness and thus the adhesive properties of the adhesive, it can comprise one resin component or two or more resin components selected from rosin, turpentine, sandarac, mastic, or balsam resin. It can be particularly advantageous if the adhesive contains an esterified rosin resin as a resin component. The presence of at least one resin component allows for the formation of a tacky resin film that improves the adhesion of the contact surface under different conditions than the tacky film formed by the at least one carboxylic acid ester component. Thus, adhesion can also be improved in humid environments, such as rain, because the resin film can be waterproof.Another advantage of having at least one resin component is that it can fill in defective areas of the glove's contact surface, thus increasing the glove's long-term durability. In the case of latex foam, which is used in gloves for example, this allows worn cells to be replenished.

[0016] According to an advantageous further development, the adhesive can have at least one carboxylic acid ester component with formula 1: wherein the residue R1 is an alkenyl group and wherein the residue R2 is at least an organyl group.

[0017] Preferably, the R1 group in formula 1 can be an alkenyl group selected from -C2H3 (CH2=CH-) and / or -C3H5 (CH2=C-CH3) and / or the R2 group in formula 1 can be an organyl group selected from a butyl group (R2 = -C4H9), a methyl group (R2 = -CH3), a hydroxyethyl group (R2 = -C2H5O), a glycidyl group (R2 = -C3H5) or an isooctyl group (R2 = -C8H 17 ) be.

[0018] According to an advantageous further development, the adhesive may comprise at least one carboxylic acid ester component selected from: methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, propyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, pentyl acrylate, hexyl acrylate, heptyl acrylate, octyl acrylate, nonyl acrylate, decyl acrylate, isobutyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, 2,3-epoxypropyl methacrylate, isooctyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, ethyl methacrylate, propyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate, pentyl methacrylate, hexyl methacrylate, heptyl methacrylate, octyl methacrylate, nonyl methacrylate, and decyl methacrylate.According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the adhesive may comprise at least one carboxylic acid ester component or all selected from butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, 2,3-epoxypropyl methacrylate, and isooctyl acrylate.

[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment, the adhesive may comprise at least one carboxylic acid ester component, glycidyl methacrylate and / or methyl methacrylate. It may be particularly advantageous if the adhesive comprises a mixture of glycidyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate. According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the adhesive may comprise at least one carboxylic acid ester component with the following formula:

[0020] According to a beneficial further training, the adhesive can: - 40 to 85% water by weight, - 1 to 50 wt.% at least one carboxylic acid ester component, preferably 1 to 30 wt.% at least one carboxylic acid ester component, preferably 5 to 25 wt.% at least one carboxylic acid ester component, preferably 5 to 20 wt.% at least one carboxylic acid ester component, in particular acrylic acid esters, - 0 to 5 wt% polyvinyl alcohol, preferably 1 to 5 wt% polyvinyl alcohol, - 0 to 10 wt.% of at least one polyol, preferably 1 to 10 wt.% of at least one polyol, in particular glycerin, - 0 to 25 wt.% of at least one resin component, preferably 1 to 25 wt.% of at least one resin component, preferably 5 to 20 wt.% of at least one resin component, wherein the sum of all components equals 100 wt.%.

[0021] According to an advantageous embodiment, the adhesive can be so liquid that it can be sprayed onto the contact surface of the glove using a suitable device. This device can be, for example, an atomizer, particularly a spray bottle. This makes it possible to apply the adhesive as evenly and finely as possible to the contact surface of the glove, so that a homogeneous film is formed.

[0022] According to another advantageous embodiment, the adhesive can be in gel form. This allows it to be applied to the contact surface by rubbing.

[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment, the adhesive can be used to improve the grip of the ball contact surfaces of a goalkeeper's glove. In ball sports, such as football (soccer), the goalkeeper uses their hands to deflect the ball. Goalkeepers wear gloves for impact protection, and it is desirable for these gloves to have the highest possible grip on the ball contact surface. Especially in wet conditions, such as rain, the contact surfaces of conventional gloves exhibit reduced grip. By using the adhesive according to the inventive application as described and / or claimed herein, balls can be gripped more effectively and deflected with greater control. Example of implementation

[0024] In a water-based embodiment, 64 g of a 4% polyvinyl alcohol solution are first placed in a container. Then, 10 g of a 55% esterified rosin resin emulsion are added. Next, 20 g of a carboxylic acid ester component is added, consisting of 48% water, 33% butyl acrylate, 8% methyl methacrylate, 3% 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, 4% 2,3-epoxypropyl methacrylate, and 4% isooctyl acrylate. Finally, 6 g of glycerol are added.

[0025] The prepared mixture is poured into a spray bottle with an atomizer head. By repeatedly spraying the bottle, the mixture can be evenly applied to a goalkeeper's glove. After a short drying time of 5 to 10 minutes, most of the water will have evaporated, leaving a sticky film on the glove's palm. This adhesive film makes it easier for the goalkeeper to catch balls.
