Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a profile unit for fastening a parapet element, such as a glass panel or a railing, to another object, such as a wall or a floor slab of a building.
[0002] The state of the art has provided a wide variety of profiles for attaching parapet elements, e.g., to a wall or a floor slab of a building. The individual profiles enable installation in various positions, such as protruding mounting on a wall or projection, or top-mounting on a floor slab. At least part of the cross-sectional shape of the profile is adapted to the respective mounting position. Furthermore, another part of the cross-sectional shape of the profile is predetermined to the parapet element, such as the shape of a glass panel or a railing post, or the like. This multitude of available profiles leads to high storage costs, since profile manufacturers and dealers must generally offer a large number of profiles as standard in order to remain competitive.
[0003] Before a profile with a specific shape can be installed, it must pass a variety of tests. These include a static strength test as well as experimental tests, such as an impact test according to DIN 18008-4 and a wind load test. Furthermore, the profile must meet the requirements of the general building inspection certificate (AbP).
[0004] When developing a new profile, a cross-sectional shape is usually first statically calculated and designed. A prototype is then produced in small quantities and subjected to individual tests. If a test fails, the profile shape must be adjusted, and all steps must be repeated. This iterative development process makes profile development time-consuming and expensive. Furthermore, it also increases the selling price of the profile.
[0005] It is therefore the object of the present invention to reduce the development costs for profiles and in particular a required variety of profiles.
[0006] The object is achieved by a profile unit having the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are the subject of the dependent claims. Further features and properties are the subject of the general description and the description of the exemplary embodiments.
[0007] The profile unit according to the invention for fastening a parapet element, such as a glass plate or a railing, to at least one other object, such as a wall or a floor plate, comprises
[0008] The invention has many advantages. A significant advantage of the invention is that the base profile can be installed in various positions thanks to the two fastening sections, e.g., for surface-mounted and front-mounted installation. The base profile can be used in at least two different mounting positions, thus reducing the variety of required profiles that manufacturers and dealers must keep in stock due to competitive pressure. As a result, the base profile can be produced in larger quantities and is therefore more cost-effective.
[0009] Preferably, the base profile is extendable by at least one extension profile. Advantageously, the profile unit can thus be used for additional mounting positions. The extension profile is attachable and / or attached to at least one fastening section of the base profile. Advantageously, the extension profile, and in particular also other possible extension profiles, do not have a separate receiving element. Advantageously, this means fewer tests are required for the extension profile and / or the profile unit comprising the base profile and extension profile, thus significantly reducing overall development costs and development time. Furthermore, the modular design of the profile unit comprising the base profile and extension profile can reduce the required variety of profiles for different mounting positions and / or receiving elements.
[0010] Particularly preferably, the static strength of a connection between the base profile and the extension profile is at least as great as a minimum static strength within the base profile. The static strength here refers to the calculated strength of the profile, which is determined or designed during profile design using recognized calculation methods. Advantageously, this means that only a static strength check is required for the extension profile, since all further tests, in particular a wind load test, have already been met by the base profile with its calculated static strength and, due to its high strength, the connection does not represent a weak point in the force flow. Particularly advantageously, the extension profile can be combined and connected modularly with the base profile, so that the profile unit consisting of the base profile and extension profile can be used in many different installation positions. The development costs for the extension profile are particularly low, since only a static strength check is required.
[0011] Preferably, a positive clamping connection is formed between the base profile and the extension profile. Advantageously, shaped elements in the profile for implementing the clamping connection can be incorporated during the profile's production, allowing the positive clamping connection to be implemented cost-effectively. Furthermore, the positive clamping connection allows for the required static strength to be achieved.
[0012] The clamp connection comprises at least one movable counterholder. In particular, the clamp connection comprises at least one screw. Advantageously, the counterholder can be received in or on the base profile and / or the extension profile, and in particular can be inserted. Furthermore, the counterholder expediently has at least one thread for receiving the screw, which is at least partially supported on the other profile, so that the base profile and the extension profile are braced against each other and clamped in their position relative to each other. Advantageously, this clamp connection is cost-effective and robust. Further advantageously, the clamp connection can be implemented in a wide variety of profile cross-sections. Furthermore, the clamp connection is detachable again, for example, to repair a parapet element.
[0013] In at least one advantageous embodiment, at least one seal is provided between the base profile and the extension profile. This seal advantageously prevents water from penetrating the interior of the profile, which could lead to corrosion or frost damage.
[0014] It is advisable to provide at least one drainage channel between the base profile and the extension profile. The drainage channel is preferably provided on the extension profile to drain water to the outside. This advantageously allows rainwater or condensate, which penetrates the base profile, for example, through the receiving element, to be drained into the extension profile and from there further, e.g., into a drain.
[0015] The extension profile preferably comprises at least one second fastening section for fastening to the other object. Advantageously, the fastening section can have at least one opening for receiving a screw or bolt or the like for fastening the profile unit to the other object, such as a wall or a floor slab of a building. This advantageously allows the profile unit to be used in a wide variety of mounting positions.
[0016] Advantageously, the second fastening section and a connecting section for connecting to the base profile of the extension profile are arranged offset from one another. In particular, openings in the connecting section for connecting the extension profile to the base profile and in the fastening section for fastening the profile unit are not coaxial and are spaced apart from one another. This advantageously allows, for example, fastening the profile unit at a point that is covered, for example, by a continuous layer of screed.
[0017] The profile unit preferably comprises at least one further extension profile, which is attached or can be attached to the base profile and / or is attached to the extension profile. A base profile can expediently be combined with at least two different extension profiles, both of which are accommodated at different locations along the base profile, thus enabling different mounting positions along a base profile. Alternatively or additionally, a further extension profile can also be attached to the fastening section of the first extension profile to enable a desired mounting position.
[0018] Preferably, the receiving element is U-shaped, at least in sections. This advantageously allows for the reception of glass panels and the like as a parapet element. Alternatively or additionally, other shapes of the receiving element are possible, such as a C-, L-, S-shaped receiving element or the like. In particular, the receiving element can also be designed as a tab or projection with an opening to which a parapet element can be screwed, for example. In particular, a base profile can comprise several different receiving elements.
[0019] Further features and advantages of embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the drawings. The same reference numerals are used for identical or similar parts and for parts with identical or similar functions. They show: Fig. 1 a schematic sectional view of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile in front mounting; Fig. 2 a schematic sectional view of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile in projection assembly; Fig. 3 a schematic sectional view of a further embodiment of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile and an extension profile in top mounting; Fig. 4 a schematic sectional view of a further embodiment of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile and an extension profile in top mounting; Fig. 5 a schematic sectional view of a further embodiment of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile and an extension profile in front set assembly; Fig. 6 a schematic view of a further embodiment of a profile unit according to the invention with a base profile with an extension profile in front mounting at one point and two extension profiles in top mounting at another point along the base profile.
[0020] It is not necessary for a profile unit according to the invention to have all of the features described below. It is also possible for a profile unit according to the invention to have only individual features of the exemplary embodiments described below.
[0021] Fig. 1 shows a schematic sectional view of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 4 in front-mounted installation. The profile unit 1 comprises a base profile 4 with a receiving element 5 for receiving a fastening element 2, such as a glass plate in this case. The base profile 4 comprises a fastening section 6 and a further fastening section 6a. The base profile 4 is fastened here in front-mounted installation by means of a fastening bolt 16 to an object 3, here designed as a wall 3. Advantageously, the base profile 4 can be fastened to the object 3 at both fastening sections 6, 6a, so that the base profile 4 can be used for different mounting positions. Advantageously, the base profile can thus be used for at least two different mounting positions, so that development costs and storage costs can be significantly reduced.
[0022] Fig. Figure 2 shows a schematic sectional view of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 4 in a projection assembly. Here, the base profile 4 is attached to the object 3 formed as a base plate 3 by means of the attachment section 6.
[0023] Fig. 3 shows a schematic sectional view of another embodiment of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 4 and an extension profile 7 in a top-mounted configuration. The base profile 4 and the extension profile 7 have a connection 8. The connection 8 is designed as a clamp connection. The fastening section 6 of the base profile 4 is fastened to a connecting section 14 of the extension profile 7. The connection 8 comprises a counterholder 10 and a screw 9. The counterholder 10 is received in the extension profile 7 and inserted into the extension profile 7 from the side. The extension profile 7 encloses the counterholder 10 and enables positive force transmission upwards, in the direction of the base profile 4. The screw 9 is screwed through the base profile 4 to the counterholder 10 and clamps the extension profile 7 against the base profile 4.
[0024] The connection 8 and the extension profile 7 have a static strength that is greater than the static strength of the base profile 4. Advantageously, this modular design means that the base profile 4 only needs to pass all the required tests, i.e., in addition to the required static strength, it also passes the experimental tests, such as an impact test and a wind load test, as well as a general building inspection certificate. The extension profile 7 and the connection 8 must only have static strengths that are at least as great as those of the base profile 4 so that the profile unit 1 comprising the base profile 4 and the extension profile 7 can be installed. This modular design reduces development costs for different mounting positions. At the same time, the variety of profiles required for the different mounting positions can be reduced.
[0025] A seal 11 is provided between the base profile 4 and the extension profile 7, preventing water from penetrating from the outside at the connection 8. Furthermore, a drainage 12 is provided between the base profile 4 and the extension profile 7. The drainage 12 is provided here via the opening in the fastening section 6, allowing rain or condensate running down the parapet element 2 to be drained away. The rain or condensate is then further drained via the drainage 11 in the extension profile, e.g., into a drain.
[0026] The extension profile 7 here has a further fastening section 13, through which the profile unit 1 is fastened to the object 3, which here is designed as a floor panel 3, by means of a fastening bolt 13. The fastening section 13 of the extension profile 7 and the connecting section 14 of the extension profile 7 are arranged offset from one another. This allows the profile unit 1 to be fastened, for example, at a location that will subsequently be covered by a screed or floor covering.
[0027] Fig. Figure 4 shows a schematic sectional view of another embodiment of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 4 and an extension profile 7 in top-mounted assembly. Here, the connecting section 14 is significantly higher than in the embodiment in Fig. 3
[0028] Fig. Figure 5 shows a schematic sectional view of another embodiment of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 4 and an extension profile 7 in front-mounted installation. The profile unit 1 is here fastened to the wall 3 by the fastening bolt 16 in front-mounted installation.
[0029] Fig. 6 shows a schematic view of a further embodiment of a profile unit 1 according to the invention with a base profile 1 with an extension profile 7 in front mounting at one point and two extension profiles 7 in top mounting at another point along the base profile 4. The base profile 4 is shown only schematically here.
[0030] At one point, the base profile is attached to a wall 3 via an extension profile 7 for front mounting.
[0031] At another location, the base profile 4 is attached to a base plate 3 via an extension profile 7 and another extension profile 15 in a top-mounted manner. The extension profile 7 is connected to the other extension profile 13 at the fastening section 13. The connection 8 is designed as a clamp connection 8, which is realized by a counterholder 10 and a screw 9.
