Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE Field of the present disclosure
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a busbar assembly having an inverter busbar structure incorporating an electromagnetic wave reduction core and a fuse. Description of the state of the art
[0002] With increasing environmental awareness, the number of eco-friendly vehicles equipped with electric motors as a power source is steadily increasing. Eco-friendly vehicles are also referred to as electrified vehicles, and typical examples include electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Electrified vehicles can be powered by the motive power of a high-performance motor, with a high-voltage battery and an inverter provided to power the motor.
[0003] An inverter in an electrified vehicle converts the direct current (DC) supplied by a high-voltage battery into alternating current (AC) and feeds the AC power to a motor. Because the high-voltage battery and the inverter are physically separated, the battery and inverter can be electrically connected via a connecting device such as a busbar.
[0004] In this case, depending on the structure of the current flow path, noise may be introduced into the inverter, and the introduced noise may be distorted or amplified by switching operations and the like in the inverter. This noise may affect the electromagnetic performance of vehicles. With the increasing popularity of electrified vehicles and the tightening of electromagnetic wave regulations in recent years, there is a growing need for configurations to reduce electromagnetic waves in vehicles.
[0005] On the other hand, high-voltage fuses can be installed in the high-voltage battery and distribution blocks of electrified vehicles to interrupt the flow of current in certain situations. High-voltage fuses can prevent vehicle damage from fire or similar incidents by physically interrupting the current-carrying busbar when excessive current is suddenly generated due to a vehicle malfunction or accident. As high-voltage batteries with even higher voltages have been deployed in recent years to improve the performance of electrified vehicles, there is a growing need to install fuses in the inverter as well, so that blowouts can be prevented before the fuse in the high-voltage battery is triggered, even when excessive current is applied to the inverter and motor system.
[0006] The information contained in this Background of the present disclosure is provided merely to facilitate understanding of the general background of the present disclosure and should not be construed as an acknowledgment or any form of suggestion that this information constitutes prior art already known to a person skilled in the art. SHORT SUMMARY
[0007] Various aspects of the present disclosure aim to provide a bus bar assembly that enables installation of an electromagnetic wave reduction device and a fuse in an inverter by eliminating a spatial limitation of a bus bar with an integrated structure of the electromagnetic wave reduction device and the fuse.
[0008] The object of the present disclosure is not limited to the subject matter described above, and other objects not mentioned will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art from the following description.
[0009] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure for achieving the above-described object, a busbar assembly includes a first busbar corresponding to a first pole, extending in a first direction, and having a narrowing portion with a reduced cross-sectional area in the first direction between end portions of the first busbar; a second busbar corresponding to a second pole, extending in the first direction, and spaced from the first busbar in the second direction intersecting the first direction; an arc-blocking portion disposed to surround a portion of the first busbar and the second busbar to surround at least the narrowing portion; a magnetic core disposed outside the arc-blocking portion to surround respective predetermined portions of the first busbar and the second busbar;and a housing that accommodates the respective sections of the first busbar and the second busbar, the arc blocking section, and the magnetic core.
[0010] For example, a first space in which the respective portions of the first busbar and the second busbar and the arc-barring portion are arranged, and a second space provided outside the first space for the magnetic core to be arranged therein and separately from the first space, may be provided inside the housing.
[0011] For example, the housing includes open end portions spaced apart from each other in the first direction, and a partition wall having a smaller circumference than the housing may be provided within the housing, wherein the first space may be formed within the partition wall, while the second space may be formed between the partition wall and the housing.
[0012] For example, the housing may include a container having an interior integrally formed by one end portion that is closed and one side that extends from the closed one end portion in the first direction, and a lid that is coupled to the container to close the other end portion that is spaced from the closed one end portion in the first direction, wherein a plurality of through holes that allow the passage of the first bus bar and the second bus bar in the first direction may be provided at the closed one end portion thereof and the lid of the container.
[0013] For example, the respective cross-sectional areas of the plurality of through holes may correspond to the cross-sectional areas of the first busbar or the second busbar.
[0014] For example, the constriction portion may have perforations at a plurality of points between the end portions of the first busbar in a third direction crossing the first direction and the second direction.
[0015] For example, the constriction may have a perforation in the third direction that is repeated in the second direction.
[0016] For example, the constriction portion may include a perforation that is repeated at positions spaced apart in the first direction on the first busbar.
[0017] For example, the constriction portion may have a smaller thickness in the third direction compared to the end portions of the first busbar and may include a step difference from the end portions of the first busbar.
[0018] The first busbar and the second busbar can, for example, be arranged between the battery present in the vehicle and the inverter that converts the direct current of the battery into alternating current.
[0019] According to the various embodiments of the present disclosure as described above, an electromagnetic wave reduction core and a fuse can be mounted by a bus bar structure in which the electromagnetic wave reduction core and the fuse are integrated.
[0020] In addition, by reducing the total volume of the electromagnetic wave reduction core and fuse compared to a single installation, it is possible to save space, create a structure that can be easily adapted to the inverter, and improve space utilization.
[0021] In addition, costs can be reduced by integrating individual components.

[0035] In this specification, terms such as "comprising" or "having" are intended to indicate the presence of the implemented features, numbers, steps, manipulations, components, parts, or combinations thereof described in the specification and are not to be understood as excluding the presence or additional capabilities of one or more other features, numbers, steps, manipulations, components, parts, or combinations thereof.
[0036] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a busbar assembly is implemented by integrating an electromagnetic wave reduction core and a fuse into the busbar, thereby reducing overall volume and cost, improving space utilization, and facilitating application to various devices.
[0037] A busbar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure is described with reference to Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 described in detail.
[0038] Fig. 1 is a view illustrating, by way of example, a disassembled busbar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, Fig. 2 is a view illustrating an assembled busbar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, Fig. 3 is a view showing an example of a cross section of the busbar assembly along the line AA' in Fig. 2 illustrated, and Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 are views illustrating exemplary disassembled busbar assemblies according to other embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0039] Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 show that a busbar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may include a first busbar 100, a second busbar 200, an arc blocking portion 300, a magnetic core 400, and a housing 500. Fig. However, Figure 1 primarily shows components related to the description of an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, and an actual bus bar assembly may include more or fewer components than shown. Each component is described in detail below.
[0040] First, the first busbar 100 corresponds to a first pole, extends in a first direction, and may include a narrowing portion 110 with a reduced cross-sectional area in the first direction between the end portions. The second busbar 200 corresponds to a second pole, extends in the first direction, and is spaced from the first busbar 100 in a second direction that crosses the first direction.
[0041] The first and second poles may be anodes and cathodes, respectively, and correspond to the end sections of a high-voltage battery in a vehicle. Furthermore, the first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200 may be arranged parallel to each other.
[0042] The first busbar 100 includes a constriction portion 110 between the end portions in the first direction, and the constriction portion 110 includes a reduced cross-sectional area in the first direction compared to other portions of the first busbar 100.
[0043] The constriction portion 110 may have a reduced cross-sectional area in the first direction due to the perforations formed at a plurality of positions between the end portions of the first busbar 100 in the third direction thereof. Furthermore, the constriction portion 110 may include the perforation formed in the third direction repeated in the second direction, and the perforation may also be repeated at positions spaced apart from each other in the first direction on the first busbar 100.
[0044] As in Fig. For example, as shown in Figure 1, the constriction portion 110 may include the perforation 120 formed in the third direction and repeated in the second direction, and the repeated perforations 120 may be arranged in two rows spaced apart from each other in the first direction. Furthermore, the perforation 120 may be formed singly or in multiple rows.
[0045] The number of rows of the repeated perforations 120 is not limited to the two rows, so that the number of rows of the repeated perforations 120 includes a single row and equal to or more than the two rows.
[0046] An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may further include at least one groove 130 on a lateral side of the constriction portion 110 in the second direction. When there are multiple grooves 130, the majority of the grooves 130 are formed in the first direction.
[0047] Furthermore, in an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the constriction portion 110 may be formed by the perforation 120, the groove 130, or a combination of the perforation 120 and the groove 130.
[0048] In contrast, Fig. 4, which shows another exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure that the constriction portion 110 can be implemented in a slot 140 in which the perforation made in the third direction is repeated in the second direction, but the perforations in the first direction are elongated instead of being arranged in two rows as in Fig. 1. Furthermore, the slots 140 may be formed singly or in a plurality. Furthermore, the extension direction of the slot 140 is not limited to the first direction, but may also be formed in the second direction.
[0049] The number of rows of the repeating slots 140 is not limited to the two rows, so that the number of rows of the repeating slots 140 may include a single row and equal to or more than the two rows.
[0050] An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may further include at least one groove 130 in the second direction. If there are multiple grooves 130, the plurality of grooves 130 are formed in the first direction.
[0051] Furthermore, in an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the constriction portion 110 may be formed by the slot 140, the groove 130, or a combination of the slot 140 and the groove 130.
[0052] On the other hand, the constriction section 110, as shown in Fig. 5, be implemented in a step-like difference form in which the thickness in the third direction is reduced compared to the end portions of the first busbar 100 and a step-like difference is provided from the end portions of the first busbar 100, instead of making perforations at a plurality of points between the end portions of the first busbar 100 in the third direction.
[0053] The Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 and Fig. The shapes of the constriction portions 110 illustrated in FIG. 5 are all intended to form a portion in which the cross-sectional area in the first direction is reduced between the end portions of the first busbar 100. Moreover, the cross section can be adopted as the structure of the constriction portion 110 as long as the shape connects the end portions of the first busbar 100 even if the cross-sectional area in the first direction is reduced.
[0054] Additionally, in an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the constriction portion 110 may be formed by the perforation 120, the groove 130, the slot 140, the step difference, or a combination thereof.
[0055] On the other hand, when current flows through the first busbar 100, the current density increases due to the reduced cross-sectional area of the constriction portion 110 in the direction of current movement. When a current of a certain value or more flows, heat is generated and the temperature rises. As the temperature continues to rise and reaches the melting point of the first busbar 100 or higher, the constriction portion 110 melts before the other portions. When the constriction portion 110 melts, the end portions of the first busbar 100 are separated, so that no more current flows through the first busbar 100, thus preventing further damage due to the passage of a large current.
[0056] Moreover, the above description focuses on the first bus bar 100, but a bus bar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure can be realized by applying the constriction portion 110 to the second bus bar 200 or by applying the constriction portion 110 to both the first bus bar 100 and the second bus bar 200.
[0057] On the other hand, the arc blocking portion 300 is arranged to surround a part of the first bus bar 100 and the second bus bar 200 to surround at least the constriction portion 110.
[0058] When the end portions of the first busbar 100 are separated by the melting of the constriction portion 110, an arc may be generated near the constriction portion 110, which may cause damage to adjacent equipment. Accordingly, the arc blocking portion 300 surrounds the vicinity of the constriction portion 110 and blocks the arc when the arc is generated in the constriction portion 110, thereby preventing damage to the surrounding area.
[0059] For this purpose, the arc-blocking portion 300 may be provided with an arc quencher, such as silicon dioxide, and with a packaging material for accommodating the arc quencher. For example, when an arc is generated in the narrowing portion 110, the arc quencher is released from the packaging material, and the released arc quencher absorbs the heat during melting, thereby preventing burn-through to the surrounding area.
[0060] The magnetic core 400 is arranged on the outside of the arc-blocking section 300 and can be made of a magnetic material such as ferrite. The magnetic core 400 simultaneously surrounds a portion of the first busbar 100 and a portion of the second busbar 200 on the outside of the arc-blocking section 300 and can, for example, be circular.
[0061] The magnetic core 400 configured in the given manner can reduce electromagnetic waves by absorbing electromagnetic noise components that form between the first bus bar 100 and the second bus bar 200 at a distance from each other.
[0062] As described above, the arc blocking section 300 surrounds the vicinity of the constriction part 110 and the magnetic core 400 surrounds the bus bars 100, 200 on the outside of the arc blocking section 300, so that an integrated structure of a fuse and an electromagnetic wave reduction device can be provided, ensuring a reduced overall volume and full performance of the respective functions.
[0063] On the other hand, the housing 500 accommodates the respective parts of the first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200, the arc-blocking section 300, and the magnetic core 400, and may be made of, for example, a plastic material. The housing 500 houses and protects components such as the arc-blocking section 300, the magnetic core 400, and the like, and as shown in Fig.2, the arc blocking section 300 and the magnetic core 400 are locked against external influences by the housing 500 in the fully assembled state.
[0064] Inside the housing 500, a first space 501 in which parts of the first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200 and the arc blocking section 300 are arranged, and a second space 502 located outside the first space 501 and in which the magnetic core 400 is arranged and separated from the first space 501 may be provided.
[0065] The housing 500 may have open end portions spaced apart from each other in the first direction, and a partition wall having a smaller circumference than the housing 500 may be provided inside the housing 500. In the present case, the first space 501 may be formed within the partition wall 600, and the second space may be formed between the partition wall 600 and the housing 500, wherein the first space 501 and the second space 502 are separated from each other by the partition wall 600.
[0066] On the other hand, the housing 500 may include a container 510 enclosing an interior space integrally formed by one end portion being closed and one side extending from the one end portion in the first direction, and a cover 520 coupled to the container 510 to close the other end portion spaced from the closed one end portion in the first direction.
[0067] In the present case, a plurality of through-holes 511, 512, which allow the passage of the first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200 in the first direction, may be provided at the one closed end portion and the lid 520 of the container 510. The respective cross-sectional areas of the plurality of through-holes 511, 521 may correspond to the cross-sectional areas of the first busbar 100 or the second busbar 200.
[0068] As a result, the busbar assembly can be constructed such that corresponding portions of the first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200, in particular the constriction portion 110, can be arranged in the housing 500, while the arc-blocking portion 300 and the magnetic core 400 are blocked from external influence.
[0069] On the other hand, the bus bar assembly according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may be used in a vehicle and arranged between a battery provided in the vehicle and an inverter that converts alternating current of the battery into direct current.
[0070] The first busbar 100 and the second busbar 200 can be arranged between the battery and the inverter and serve as a DC input terminal for supplying the DC power of the battery to the inverter.
[0071] In this case, the constriction portion 110 and the arc-barring portion 300 formed in the first bus bar 100 can protect the inverter from a large current, and the magnetic core 400 surrounding the first bus bar 100 and the second bus bar 200 can improve the electromagnetic wave performance of the inverter by absorbing electromagnetic waves.
[0072] According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, as described above, the electromagnetic wave reduction core and the fuse in the inverter may be provided by a bus bar structure in which the electromagnetic wave reduction core and the fuse are integrated.
[0073] By reducing the overall volume of the electromagnetic wave reduction core and fuse compared to individual manufacturing, it is also possible to save space, create a structure that can be easily integrated with the inverter, and improve space utilization.
[0074] In addition, costs can be reduced by integrating individual components.
[0075] For ease of explanation and for precise definition in the appended claims, the terms "top," "bottom," "inside," "outside," "high," "down," "upward," "downward," "front," "rear," "inside," "outside," "inward," "outward," "interior," "exterior," "internal," "external," "forward," and "backward" are used to describe features of the exemplary embodiments with reference to the positions of those features illustrated in the figures. [0076] The term "and / or" can include a combination of multiple related listed items or any one of a plurality of related listed items. For example, "A and / or B" includes all three cases such as "A," "B," and "A and B."
[0077] In this description, unless otherwise stated, the singular includes the plural unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
[0078] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, "at least one of A and B" may refer to "at least one of A or B" or to "at least one of combinations of at least one of A and B." Furthermore, "one or more of A and B" may refer to "one or more of A or B" or "one or more combinations of one or more of A and B."
[0079] In the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, it is to be understood that a term such as "including" or "having" is intended to imply that the features, numbers, steps, acts, elements, parts, or combinations thereof described in the specification are present, and does not exclude the possibility that one or more other features, numbers, steps, acts, elements, parts, or combinations thereof are added or present.
