AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional cylindrical secondary batteries face issues with insufficient adhesion between the outer cylindrical portion and the covering portion, leading to moisture ingress and potential short circuits due to tracking phenomena.
Method used
The cylindrical secondary battery design includes specific surface roughness parameters, with an average roughness (Ra) of 0.7 to 1.5 μm and maximum height roughness (Rz) of 2.5 μm or less for the cover portion, enhancing adhesion and preventing moisture ingress.
Benefits of technology
This design effectively suppresses moisture penetration, reducing short circuits and corrosion, thereby improving the battery's reliability and safety.

Abstract
A cylindrical secondary battery is provided which enables improved adhesion between an outer portion and a cover portion. The present disclosure relates to a cylindrical secondary battery comprising: a cylindrical outer portion having a battery element therein and opposite end portions and an outer peripheral surface disposed therebetween; and a cover portion covering at least a part of both the end portions of the outer portion and the entire outer peripheral surface, wherein the outer portion includes a cylindrical main body having an opening at one end side and a bottom at another end side opposite to the one end side, and a lid closing the opening, wherein a calculated average roughness (Ra) of the cylindrical main body is 0.7 to 1.5 µm, and a maximum height roughness (Rz) of an inner surface of the cover portion in a radial direction of the bottom of the main body is 2.5 µm or less.
