Abstract

Systems and procedures are provided for determining unauthorized activity associated with a vehicle. The vehicle includes one or more ultra-wideband (UWB) sensor units. Under certain conditions, the vehicle can activate a vehicle condition detection feature. When the feature is activated and the vehicle is on a reference surface, the UWB sensor units measure the distance between themselves and the reference surface. The vehicle continuously monitors this distance. If, at any time, the vehicle determines that the distance has increased beyond a threshold, it can infer that the vehicle is being lifted above the reference surface and that unauthorized activity, such as tire theft, is likely occurring. The vehicle can then activate one or more of its external cameras to capture audio and video of the unauthorized activity, generate a notification, and send the notification and audio / video to a user device associated with the vehicle.
