AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing endoscopes face poor operability due to the inability to simultaneously perform fluid supply and treatment tool operations, as the water supply guide surface interferes with treatment tool direction changes.

Method used

An endoscope design with a lifter housing section, an optical observation system, and a cap with a fluid guidance surface that allows independent control of fluid ejection and treatment tool direction, ensuring the fluid is directed away from the optical axis.

Benefits of technology

Enables simultaneous treatment tool operation and fluid supply without interference, improving the endoscope's operability and allowing procedures like bleeding control and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography to be performed effectively.

Abstract

Endoscope, comprehensive: a main body of a distal end section provided at a distal end side of an insertion part; a lifting housing section which is provided in the main body of the distal end section and is open in a first direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis direction of the insertion part; a lifter that is rotatably provided in the lifter housing section; an optical observation system arranged on a wall section of the main body of the distal end section adjacent to the lifter housing section, and observing a field of view area in the first direction in which the lifter housing section is open; an outflow opening provided in the main body of the distal end section through which the fluid flows; and a cap that is attachable and removable to the main body of the distal end section and that has a fluid guidance surface which directs the fluid flowing from the outflow orifice in a direction towards the field of view area into a position that is separate from the optical observation system.
