Description

This is a kit for an aquarium filter made of plexiglass or comparable food-fast plastic (transparent / colored), which functions according to the principle of follow-up.The material thickness of the starting material results from the size of the end product and can vary between 2 and 80 mm.The kit always consists of 7 parts:1XFro (1.a)1x Rear Wall (1.b)1x soil (1.c)2x side part (1.d)2x Inner part with passage (1.e)Milling grooves / milling profiles in / on the components 1.b, 1.c and 1.d result in edges or grooves which serve as specifications for adhesion and thus ensure that the components engage in one another. This results in a three chamber filter (chambers A, B and C) being formed. The size of the chambers A and C is the same due to the arrangements of the milled sections in the ground (component 1.c) and the rear wall (component 1.b). Depending on the arrangement of the inner parts (component 1.e), chambers A and C are used either for receiving the filter sponge or the object which serves for water recirculation from the filter into the aquarium (air lifting means or so-called powerheads). Chamber B serves to accommodate the filter medium, such as soil, lava granulate, etc. Of course, the chamber B can also be fitted with different filter media, the choice being left to the user freely.Due to the possibility of arranging the components 1.e differently (passage at the top or at the bottom), the user of the filter is exposed on which side (right or left) the water inlet component 1.a (large rectangular cutout or hole) for water recirculation is located in the front of the filter component 1.a (hole bore).Example:The result of the first inner part (component 1.e) being placed into the first milling groove from the right in the ground (component 1.c) with the passage, as in the description of component number 1.e, upwards and the result of the second inner part (component 1.e) being placed into the first milling groove from the left in the ground (component 1.c) with the passage downwards is that the front (component 1.a) is placed in such a way that the filter sponge comes into the right chamber and the water recirculation from the filter into the aquarium takes place through the hole in the front (component 1) from the left of the three chambers. If the user wishes to have the water inlet on the right, he only needs to arrange the inner parts accordingly, meaning: first inner part (component 1.e) into the first milling groove from the right in the bottom (component 1.c) of the water passage downwards and the second central part (component 1.e) with the water passage upwards into the first milling groove from the left in the bottom (component 1.c) results in the front (component 1.a) being placed in such a way that the rectangular recess is situated in front of the left of the three chambers when the filter is properly constructed. Both food-compatible plastic adhesives and silicone can be used for the bonding.Advantages:This is safe for any type of growth in the aquarium by the sponge, which prevents the growth from entering the interior of the filter.Easy cleaning and replacement of the / the filter medium, since the filter is external and thus easily removable. In order to clean the sponge, it is not necessary for the entire filter to be removed from the aquarium. For cleaning the sponge, it is entirely sufficient to lower the water level to below the water passage in the central part (component 1.e), then to remove the sponge from above the chamber and, after cleaning, to push it back into the chamber. Thereafter, the water level is increased again so that the follow-up can take place. The water recirculation can take place through the hole in the front (component 1.a) both through an air lift and any other type of water conveying means (if appropriate). For description, I use the terms as listed.A= Lange side of the componentB = Short side of the componentC = Milling profile / millingsD = Milling grooveComponent description: Drawing 1.Component Front with the designation 1.aThe front almost always has a rectangular shape due to its construction, but for rare aquarium dimensions it can also result in a square shape. In the upper left corner is a hole / mill which serves as a passage for the means for returning water from the filter (chamber A or C) to the aquarium. On the right side there is a rectangular cutout which is so large that at the right upper and lower edge there is only a thin web which, during the bonding, serves as a connection to the base (component 1.c) and, in this design variation, to the right side part (component 1.d). The recess is dimensioned such that it is always somewhat smaller in height and width than the chamber which arises behind it during the bonding. The long side (A) of the front is always dimensioned such that, after adhesion to the side parts of component (1.d) and inner parts of component (1.e), it produces a flush termination on both short sides (B) and the front long side (A) of the floor of component (1.c).Component 1.b from Figure 1Component 1.b Rear wallThe rear wall almost always has a rectangular shape due to its construction. For rare aquarium dimensions, however, a square shape can also result. The rear wall is provided with 2 milling grooves / millings from top to bottom, which run parallel to the short side (B). The distance from the outside to the inside is the same on the right and on the left. These milling grooves / millings result in the vertical guide groove for the inner parts of component (1.e) and serve as a receiving surface for the adhesive. The milling grooves / millings are always 0.2-0.5 mm wider than the starting material. The rear wall is always dimensioned such that, after adhesion to the side parts (1.d), it produces a flush termination on both short sides (B) and the rear long side (A) of the floor component (1.c). The rear wall is, due to its construction, exactly as high as the sides / inner parts and front.Component 1.c from Figure 1Component 1.c FloorThe floor always has a rectangular shape and is provided on all sides over the complete length of both the long sides (A) and over the complete length of the two short sides (B) with a single-sided milling profile / milling which starts at the outer edge and is dimensioned in terms of the dimension / width of the starting material. Due to the milling profiles / millings applied as described, an edge is formed on the ground, which is provided as a boundary during the adhesion to side parts and rear wall. The depth of the milling profiles / millings results from the thickness of the starting material, which means the stronger the starting material, the wider and deeper the milling profiles / millings. The ground is provided on one side with 2 milling grooves / millings from top to bottom parallel to the short sides (B). The 2 milling grooves / millings are each at the same distance inward from the short (B) outer edge and are always 0.2-0.5 mm wider than the starting material. The depth of the milling grooves / millings results from the starting material, which means the more the starting material, the deeper / wider the milling grooves / millings. The milling profiles / millings and grooves result in the receiving surfaces for the adhesive. The grooves / milled recesses in the ground component 1.c serve as a horizontal guide for the middle parts 1.e. The milling grooves and milling profiles / millings always have the same depth.Component 1.d from Figure 1Component 1.d Side partThe side part always has a rectangular shape. The side part is provided on the two long sides (A) with a milling profile / milling starting on one side from the outer edge in the width of the starting material, said milling profile extending over the entire length of the long (A) sides. The depth is dimensioned such that, after the adhesion, it ends flush with the base of the front and the rear wall on the respective outer sides (left or right) of the base. The milling profiles / millings serve as a receiving surface for the adhesive and as a vertical guide for the front and the rear wall.Component 1.e from Figure 1Component 1.e Inner partThe central part always has a rectangular shape. The middle part is provided in the upper third with openings (slits or holes) which serve as a passage for the water. The amount of openings (slits or holes) results from the filter size, which means the larger the final product (three-chamber filter), the more / larger openings (slits / holes). The openings are arranged to have a greater distance from above than from the right or left. The middle parts (2 pieces of identical construction) are dimensioned such that after the adhesion to the ground and the rear wall (see example in the description) they end flush with the milling grooves in the ground. Depending on the arrangement, the inner parts determine the direction of flow in the filter or through the filter medium or the filter media. After adhesion to the bottom and back panels, the base material thick sides of the middle parts serve the receiving surface for the adhesive and produce the inner boundaries of the three chambers.Drawings:Sheet 1 Components with numerical identificationSheet 2 Exploded plan viewSheet 3 Exploded drawingSheet 4 Kit assembled variant water influence on the left water return on the rightList of reference charactersA Long side B Short side C Milling profile D Milling groove
