Abstract
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to an automatic ground leveling and compacting device capable of leveling a surface according to a user's requirements, allowing the user to select an area for leveling, and also capable of informing the user of the presence of an obstacle in the surface while automatically removing the obstacle from the surface. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Generally, maintaining a flat and even lawn or surface is important for both aesthetic and functional reasons. In the old days, people had to face problems like farmers leveling fields for effective irrigation and drainage. Leveling the ground requires a lot of manual labor, and it also takes a lot of time. People face challenges not only in agriculture but also in road and path construction, as grading of roads can affect safety and usability. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a device that can facilitate ground leveling and solve the problems people face in an efficient manner.
[0003] Traditionally, some conventional methods, such as human raking, have been used to level ground surfaces. Raking places strain on the user's hand, but these are labor-intensive and time-consuming, often resulting in uneven surfaces. Therefore, people also use some handheld tools, such as hand-held levelers or ground levelers, to efficiently level ground surfaces. However, these are inefficient and unreliable. The lack of reliable leveling equipment has led to delays in various construction and land management projects.
[0004] WO2022214728A1 discloses a ground leveling machine comprising a leveling trough formed by a front cross member and a rear cross member arranged parallel to each other and in a horizontal position with respect to the ground, both members being arranged transversely to the forward movement direction of the machine, both cross members being further connected to each other by two lateral longitudinal members; and wherein a plurality of scraping or aerating elements are arranged on the front cross member, which at their lower part are horizontally aligned with the underside of a number of lateral skids, which are rigidly connected to the lateral longitudinal members, and with the lower edge of a dozer blade, which is rigidly connected to the rear cross member at its lower part. WO8A1 discloses a ground leveling machine comprising a leveling trough for leveling surfaces. However, the above-mentioned invention lacks the ability to determine the presence of obstacles / debris on the surface and, accordingly, to remove the obstacles and debris from the user-defined area. The above-mentioned invention also lacks the ability to monitor surface hardness to dispense water onto the surface to reduce surface hardness and thus assist in leveling the surface.
[0005] WO1989006589A1 discloses a surface leveling device for leveling surfaces, such as an outdoor floor. The device comprises a rotatable cutting head mounted in a movable frame by means of independently controlled screw devices. The screw devices are controlled by control circuits responsive to a pivotable laser beam rotating in a reference plane. The control circuits maintain the cutting head parallel to the reference plane and at a predetermined distance from it, regardless of the frame's movements above the ground. While WO9A1 discloses a leveling device for leveling surfaces, the above-mentioned invention lacks the ability to detect the presence of gaps or unevenness on the user-defined surface and accordingly sprinkle a larger amount of sand into the gap / uneven surface to level the surface.
[0006] Conventionally, there are many devices that can assist the user in leveling a surface, but they lack features that can detect the presence of gaps or uneven surfaces on the user-specified surface and accordingly dispense a larger amount of sand into the gap / uneven surface to level the surface. These devices also fail to detect obstacles / debris on the surface and accordingly clear the obstacles and debris from the user-specified area to be leveled.
[0007] To overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks, there is a need to develop a device that levels a surface according to the user's requirements, allowing the user to select an area for leveling. Furthermore, the proposed device should also be capable of detecting the presence of obstacles / debris on the surface and, accordingly, removing the obstacles and debris from the user-specified area to be leveled, while filling the gaps or uneven surface on the user-specified surface with a larger amount of sand. OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The main object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.
[0009] An object of the present invention is to develop a device capable of automatically leveling a surface according to the area specified by the user by reducing human involvement to save the user's time and resources.

[0021] The singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” used here refer to both the singular and the plural, unless expressly intended to refer to only the singular.
[0022] The present invention relates to an automatic ground leveling and compaction device capable of leveling a surface according to a user's requirements, allowing the user to select an area to level. Furthermore, the proposed device is also capable of informing the user of the presence of obstacles on the surface and automatically removing the obstacle from the surface.
[0023] Referring to Figure 1, an isometric view of an automated ground leveling and compacting device is illustrated, comprising a platform 101 positioned on a ground surface, a pair of track wheels 102 arranged underneath the platform 101, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 installed on the platform 101, a touch interactive display panel 104 arranged on the platform 101, a hydraulically operated plunger 105 arranged on the platform 101 via an L-shaped retractor 106, a circular element 107 connected to the free end of the piston 105, an iris hole 108 formed on the lower part of a container 109 arranged on the body 101, a pair of robot grippers 110 installed on the platform 101, a waste container 111 arranged on the platform 101, an electronically controlled nozzle 112 arranged on a water reservoir 113 is integrated, which is configured with the platform 101, and several vibration units 114,which are formed on the lower part of the element 107.,
[0024] The proposed device consists of a platform 101 designed to be positioned on a floor surface, with a pair of rail wheels 102 arranged below the platform 101 to move the platform 101 across the surface. The platform 101 is made of a material, not limited to wood, metal, etc., that provides the components with a long service life and can comfortably accommodate all the components required to perform the specified operation.
[0025] When the device is activated, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103, installed on the platform 101, starts capturing multiple images of the environment surrounding the platform 101. The artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 used here incorporates AI protocols to enhance its functionality and capabilities, enabling immediate reactions and faster decision-making. The imaging unit 103 captures images or videos of the environment using special lenses. The captured data is preprocessed and fed into AI protocols for analysis. These protocols utilize machine learning techniques, such as deep learning neural networks, to extract meaningful information from the visual data. This captured data is processed by the processor, and then a built-in microcontroller analyzes the processed data to evaluate the correct images from the captured images of the environment.
[0026] These captured images are displayed on a touch-sensitive interactive display panel 104 located on the platform 101, which the user can access to select an area of the surface where they wish to perform leveling. The touch-sensitive interactive display panel 104 described here consists of several tiny electrically active wires. When the user touches the options displayed above the display panel 104, the wires are pressed together, closing the circuit. This results in a voltage flow through the circuit. This voltage flow is detected by the microcontroller in the form of electrical signals. The signals are processed by the microcontroller to determine the user's inputs regarding the selected area of the surface where the user wishes to perform leveling.
[0027] Accordingly, the microcontroller controls the wheels 102 to move the platform 101 to the area specified by the user. The wheels 102 are driven by a bidirectional DC motor capable of converting DC current into mechanical work, following the principle of Lorentz's law, which states that when a current-carrying wire enters a magnetic or electric field, it experiences a force. Thus, the motor converts the electric current from an external source into mechanical torque, which provides the required power to the wheels 102 and moves the platform 101 to the area specified by the user.
[0028] The platform 101 is further equipped with a hydraulically operated piston 105, which serves to position the piston 105 above the ground surface via an L-shaped rod retractor 106, with a circular element 107 attached to the free end of the piston 105. The rod is driven by a pneumatic unit comprising an air compressor, an air cylinder, air valves, and a piston. The air compressor used here draws in air from the environment and increases the pressure of the air by reducing the air volume. The air compressor draws in atmospheric air and compresses it to a high pressure. The compressed air is then fed into the cylinder through an outlet pipe via a valve. The compressed air in the cylinder pushes the piston, which extends the rod, which positions the piston 105 above the ground surface.
[0029] After positioning the plunger 105 above the ground surface, an angle sensor is mounted on the circular platform 101 to monitor the angle of the plunger 105 relative to the surface. The angle sensor used here is preferably an optical angle sensor that uses light beams and optical detectors to measure changes in light reflection or transmission caused by the angle of the plunger 105 relative to the surface. As the angle changes, the amount of reflected or transmitted light varies, allowing the sensor to calculate the angle. The angle sensor provides an output signal corresponding to the desired angle, which is sent to the microcontroller. The microcontroller processes the detected signal and determines the angle of the plunger 105 relative to the surface.
[0030] Based on the determined angle, the microcontroller controls the actuation of the plunger 105 to maintain the upright orientation of the element 107 while simultaneously leveling the user-defined surface. The microcontroller then repeatedly operates the plunger 105 to extend and retract it, rubbing it across the circular element 107 against the user-defined surface to properly level the user-defined surface. The plunger 105 is connected to a hydraulic unit / assembly that includes an oil reservoir 113, an oil pump, a cylinder, valves, and a piston. The valve is an electronic valve that allows the entry / exit of compressed oil from the compressor.
[0031] Additionally, the valve opens, allowing compressed oil to enter the cylinder, increasing the oil pressure in the cylinder. The piston is connected to the cylinder, and the increase in oil pressure causes the piston to extend. To retract the piston, the oil is drained from the cylinder into the oil tank via the valve. This provides the piston 105 with the necessary extension or retraction movement to properly level the user-defined surface via the circular element 107 and create a shaking motion.
[0032] During leveling, a tactile sensor is located beneath platform 101 to monitor the hardness of the surface. The tactile sensor contains sensing elements and determines the hardness by evaluating the pressure exerted on the sensing elements when they come into contact with the surface. The degree of deformation of these elements corresponds to the hardness of the surface and converts this deformation data into a signal. The tactile sensor sends the deformation data in signal form to the microcontroller, which processes the acquired data and determines the hardness of the surface.
[0033] If the monitored hardness exceeds a threshold, the microcontroller actuates an electronically controlled nozzle 112, integrated into a water tank 113 configured with the platform 101, to deliver water onto the surface to assist in leveling the surface. The electronic nozzle 112 uses electrical power to automate the flow solution in a controlled flow pattern by converting the pressure energy of a fluid into kinetic energy, which increases the velocity of the water to deliver water onto the surface. When the microcontroller actuates the nozzle 112, the electric motor or pump pressurizes the incoming water, significantly increasing the pressure. The high pressure allows for the proper distribution of water over the surface to assist in leveling the surface.
[0034] During surface leveling via the piston 105 and the circular element 107, the microcontroller actuates several vibration units 114 arranged on the lower part of the element 107 to generate vibrations of a predefined intensity. The vibration units used here number from five to eight and operate with the aid of an electric motor that sets the element 107 in a vibrating motion. When the vibration unit is actuated by the microcontroller, the motor exerts a reciprocating motion on the element 107, causing the element 107 to vibrate. The vibration allows the element 107 to eliminate air spaces and thereby exert pressure on the surface to reduce voids between the particles, increase soil density, and create a level surface.
[0035] Next, a laser sensor is installed on the body, which works synchronously with the imaging unit 103 to detect the surface height and determine the presence of gaps or unevenness on the user-defined surface. The laser sensor includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter emits a light toward the user-defined surface. When the laser beam hits the user-defined surface, the beam is reflected back to the sensor's receiver. When the sensor detects the reflected beam, it precisely measures the time it takes for the laser beam to travel to and from the user-defined surface. The sensor then converts this data into an electrical signal and sends it to the microcontroller. The microcontroller processes the electrical signal and detects the height of the surface as well as the presence of gaps or unevenness on the user-defined surface.
[0036] Upon successful detection, the microcontroller actuates an iris hole 108 located in the lower part of a sand-filled container 109 attached to the body to introduce a larger amount of sand into the gap or uneven surface and level the surface. The iris hole 108 is the cover that allows the passage of sand from the container 109. The iris diaphragm 108 consists of an inner flat ring, an outer flat ring, and an even number of iris leaves (top and bottom). Each leaf is connected to the inner ring by a pivot device and to the outer ring by a roller / sliding device. The top and bottom rings are centered and in sliding contact. The aperture is opened by rotating the outer ring around the center while the inner ring remains stationary to sprinkle a larger amount of sand into the gap / uneven surface and smooth the surface to allow uniform leveling of the area specified by the user.
[0037] During body leveling, an ultrasonic sensor is installed on the body, which operates synchronously with the imaging unit 103 to detect the presence of obstacles / debris near the platform 101 and the path of the platform 101. The ultrasonic sensor works by emitting ultrasonic waves and then measuring the time it takes these waves to rebound after hitting the obstacles / debris. It comprises two main parts: a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter sends short ultrasonic pulses toward the obstacles / debris, which travel through the air at the speed of sound and are reflected back to the transmitter as an echo when the pulse hits the obstacles / debris. The transmitter then detects the reflected echo from the surface of the obstacles / debris and sends the analyzed signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller processes the collected data and detects the presence of obstacles / debris near platform 101 and the path of platform 101.
[0038] Upon detecting obstacles / debris in the path of platform 101, the microcontroller actuates a pair of robotic grippers 110 installed on platform 101 to grasp the detected obstacle / debris and position it in a waste container 111 located on platform 101. The robotic gripper includes a linkage connected to multiple motorized ball joints and a gripper for smooth and precise gripping of the obstacle / debris. The motorized ball joint includes a microcontroller-driven motor that generates an electric current, a spherical element, and a socket. The ball is freely movable within the socket. The motor rotates the ball in various directions controlled by the microcontroller, which also commands the motor to precisely position the ball. The microcontroller also controls the motor to generate electric current to rotate in the joint to move the grapple to grasp and position the detected obstacle / debris within the waste container 111, providing additional reach and flexibility for removing obstacles and debris, as well as the area to be leveled, as specified by the user.
[0039] In addition, a level sensor is embedded in the water tank 113 to detect the water level. The level sensor consists of an infrared (IR) transmitter and a photodiode. The sensor detects the water level by measuring the intensity of the infrared light reflected back by the photodiode. The received intensity of the infrared light is then sent to the microcontroller in the form of an electrical signal. The microcontroller processes the detected data and determines the water level.
[0040] As soon as the detected water level falls below a threshold, the microcontroller sends an alert to a computing unit to notify the user to refill the water tank 113. The microcontroller is wirelessly connected to the computing unit via a communication module, which may include a Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) module, a Bluetooth module, or a GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) module, among others. The communication module used here acts as an intermediary between the computing unit and the microcontroller. The custom Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) module is used to establish a wireless connection between the computing unit and the microcontroller. This module is capable of receiving serial data from radiation monitoring devices such as the computing unit and transmitting the data to the microcontroller for further processing.
[0041] Finally, a battery is connected to the device to power the electrically powered components used within it. The battery consists of a pair of electrodes called the cathode and anode. The battery uses a chemical oxidation / reduction reaction to perform work on the charge and generate a voltage between the anode and cathode, thereby producing electrical energy that is used to perform work in the device.
[0042] The present invention works best as follows: The inventive platform 101 is designed to be positioned on the ground surface using two track wheels 102 to move the platform 101 across the surface. Upon activation of the device, the artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 captures multiple images of the surroundings of the platform 101. The interactive touch display 104 displays the captured images, which the user can access to select the area of the surface in which they wish to perform leveling. Based on this, the microcontroller instructs the wheels 102 to move the platform 101 toward the area specified by the user. Once the platform 101 is positioned over the desired area, the L-shaped retractor 106 is retracted to position the piston 105 above the ground surface. After positioning the ram 105 above the floor surface, the angle sensor monitors the angle of the ram 105 relative to the surface. The microcontroller then actuates the ram 105 to repeatedly extend and retract, creating a jolting motion across the cuboid-shaped element 107 on the user-defined surface to properly level the user-defined surface. During leveling, the tactile sensor monitors the surface hardness. If the monitored hardness exceeds the threshold, the microcontroller actuates the electronically controlled nozzle 112 to dispense water onto the surface to assist in leveling the surface. During surface leveling, the microcontroller controls several vibration units 114 arranged on the lower part of the component 107 to generate vibrations of a predefined intensity. The laser sensor then works synchronously with the imaging unit 103 to detect surface leveling, as well as the presence of gaps or unevenness on the surface specified by the user. Upon successful detection, the microcontroller actuates the iris aperture 108 located at the bottom of the sand-filled container 109, to sprinkle a larger amount of sand into the gap or uneven area, thus leveling the surface. During the leveling of the structure, the ultrasonic sensor works synchronously with the imaging unit 103 to detect the presence of obstacles / debris near the platform 101 and the path of the platform 101. The microcontroller then controls the pair of robot grippers 110 to position the grasped obstacle or debris into the waste container 111 arranged on the platform 101. Furthermore, the level sensor detects the water level. As soon as the detected level falls below a threshold, the microcontroller sends an alert to the computer unit to prompt the user to refill the water tank 113.
