Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a wooden body made of plywood from native (European) woods, treated with modified water glass, suitable for outdoor use.
[0002] Wooden structures are already used extensively outdoors. Extending their service life or increasing their weather resistance is often, or almost exclusively, achieved through environmentally harmful substances (e.g., bitumen or salts). Plywood structures are not suitable for outdoor use.
[0003] A disadvantage of using wooden structures outdoors is that environmentally harmful substances must be used to ensure their durability. Plywood is unsuitable for long-term outdoor use.
[0004] However, since the plywood has a higher dimensional stability due to the multi-layer bonding and can therefore be exposed to higher loads, it is generally suitable for outdoor use.
[0005] The invention is therefore based on the object of being able to use plywood for outdoor use. This is achieved by using modified water glass.
[0006] The invention will now be further explained with reference to an embodiment which is shown schematically in the drawing.
[0007] Fig.Figure 1 shows the cross-section of a seven-layer plywood panel. 1 denotes one of the seven glued wood layers. The arrows 2 indicate the direction of penetration of the modified water glass, which is introduced, for example, by dipping the wood. The waves 3 symbolize the modified water glass that has penetrated the plywood. The full-surface penetration of the modified water glass creates the illustrated protection against external influences.
[0008] The development of the invention focuses particularly on its use as a traffic sign or information sign. Such signs are often made of energy-intensive materials (e.g., aluminum). The use of wooden bodies represents a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative. Since such signs are exposed to external influences (wind, moisture, sunlight, etc.), the use of plywood is a suitable option due to its special properties.
[0009] However, such use is only possible with the inventive treatment of the plywood body. The inventive use of the plywood body thus creates a sustainable alternative for outdoor signs that significantly improves the carbon footprint.
Claims
[1] Wooden body made of plywood, especially for outdoor use, characterized by that the wooden body is treated with optionally modified water glass on both the flat sides and on at least one, preferably all, end faces. [2] Traffic sign or information board comprising a wooden body according to claim 1.
