AI Technical Summary
Existing practice mutes for brass instruments lack adjustable airflow and blowing resistance, necessitating a retrofittable system that allows for individual adjustment without altering the basic design.
A rotatable disk with varying diameter openings is attached to the air outlet of existing practice mutes, enabling manual adjustment of airflow and blowing resistance through a simple mechanical design using an elastic connection.
Provides stepless or multi-stage adjustment of airflow and blowing resistance, ensuring adaptability to different instruments and playing styles while maintaining a durable, maintenance-free operation.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for regulating the air passage and blowing resistance in practice mutes for brass instruments, in particular trumpet, flugelhorn, cornet or similar instruments.
[0002] The device serves as a retrofittable extension unit that can be attached to existing practice silencers to make their airflow and thus their blowing resistance individually adjustable.
[0003] Popular practice mutes typically have a fixed air outlet system with constant blowing resistance. This means that the resistance and volume cannot be adjusted to individual playing preferences.
[0004] So far, no easily retrofittable systems are known that allow for mechanically adjustable regulation of the airflow in existing practice dampers without changing their basic design.
[0005] The invention provides an adjustable outlet device that can be attached or mounted as an independent assembly onto the air outlet of an existing reed silencer.
[0006] The device comprises a rotatable disk (2) which has several openings (3) of different diameters.
[0007] The disc (2) is mounted in such a way that it is positioned in front of the air outlet of the practice mute, and by rotating it, one of the openings (3) can be aligned with the outlet. This allows the musician to individually adjust the effective airflow and thus the blowing resistance and volume.
[0008] The rotatable disc (2) is preferably attached by means of an elastic rubber pin (4) and a rubber seal (5) so that it is friction-resistant but can be rotated manually. The elastic connection prevents unintentional twisting and ensures simple, maintenance-free operation.
[0009] The device can be manufactured as a standalone accessory and attached to common practice damper shapes made of metal, plastic or wood. Advantages of the invention • Retrofittable, universally applicable extension for existing practice dampers. • Stepless or multi-stage adjustment of airflow and blowing resistance. • Simple mechanical design without moving metal parts. • Adaptable to different instruments and playing styles. • Durable, maintenance-free design.
