AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing smoke detectors face issues with unintentional triggering during installation, which can lead to false alarms and inconvenience.

Method used

A magnetic mount with an integrated triggering mechanism that remains deactivated during installation, using a mechanical aid like a rod to ensure proper mounting without triggering, and activates upon successful installation.

Benefits of technology

Prevents false alarms by ensuring the triggering mechanism is only activated after successful installation, enhancing the reliability and ease of installation of smoke detectors.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a magnetic mount for the reversible attachment of a smoke detector to a magnetic surface. The mount can, for example, be attached to the housing of the smoke detector using two screws.

[0002] A key feature of the invention is an integrated triggering mechanism that is coupled with the removal detection of the smoke detector. This mechanism is activated as soon as the smoke detector is removed from its mounting position.

[0003] To mount the smoke detector at its intended location without unintentionally triggering the removal detection, a mechanical aid – for example, a rod – can be used. This keeps the triggering mechanism deactivated during installation. After successful installation, the rod is removed, thereby activating the triggering mechanism.
