Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (a) Context of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a trainer, in particular an elliptical trainer, designed to simulate the actions of walking. (b) Description of the known design

[0002] The gym has various training equipment for physical exercise, such as treadmills, spinning bikes, dumbbells, leg presses, rowing machines, glute kickback machines, and so on.

[0003] To train multiple muscle groups with a single machine, an elliptical trainer is often used. An elliptical trainer is a stationary exercise machine that simulates the actions of cycling, stair climbing, rowing, and running. An elliptical trainer is also known as a cross trainer.

[0004] Patent publication No. TWM383421U from Taiwan describes an elliptical walking machine capable of adjusting stride length. A rotating wheel mount and a rotating wheel are arranged at the front end of a base. A side frame is located on both sides of the base. At the upper end of the side frame is an inward-facing pivot point. A movable linkage is located on each side of the base. The walking linkage is pivotally attached to the shaft of the rotating wheel and the pivot shaft. The connection between a rear connecting rod and a lower connecting rod of the walking linkage is rotated by an adjustable connecting seat that can slide up and down, thus allowing adjustment of the trajectory and stride length of the elliptical walking machine. A pedal rod of the walking linkage is equipped with an up-and-down oscillating pedal bearing.Adjusting the mounting angle between the foot pedal and the pedal bar can effectively improve the comfort for the user's ankles during training.

[0005] Patent publication No. TWI671098B from Taiwan describes a multifunctional elliptical trainer that can automatically determine the stride length and comprises a frame unit, a resistance unit, a gear unit, and two linkage units. The resistance unit includes a first resistance element and a second resistance element. The gear unit comprises a crank drive link, a first gear unit connected between the crank drive link and the first resistance element, and a second gear unit attached to the second resistance element. Each linkage can switch between an up-and-down motion and a forward-and-backward motion. In the up-and-down motion state, the linkage unit sequentially drives the crank drive link, the first gear unit, and the first resistance element. In the forward-backward motion, the connecting unit sequentially drives the second gear unit and the second resistance element. Since the components driven by the connecting unit are different in the up-and-down and forward-and-backward motions, there is no limit to the stride length in either direction, allowing the user to adjust the stride length for a more effective workout. During use, the foot pedal is always tilted forward. When the foot pedal is moved to its forwardmost position, the user's foot, moving towards the front edge, will step onto the pedal on their toes. Prolonged use of this position can lead to foot damage due to poor posture. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The main objective of the present invention is to create an elliptical trainer with which the actual walking or running motion of the human body can be simulated, i.e., the toes of the foot moving towards the front edge are raised and the heel of the foot moving towards the rear edge is raised.
