Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a shower shelf for fastening to room walls forming a common corner, at least one of which is lined with a wall covering forming a joint, comprising a plate body with a base area for placing objects, wherein the plate body has two edges delimiting the base area on the wall side, which edges are arranged at an angle to one another which corresponds to the angle of the room walls forming the common corner, and at least one insertion web formed on the base area, which engages as intended in a joint of the wall covering when the shower shelf is fastened to the room walls.
[0002] A shower shelf for installation in the joints of a wall covering is known from DE 10 2016 115 677 B4. According to this design, insertion tabs are formed on the wall-facing edges of the shower shelf, which can be fixed in horizontally aligned transverse joints parallel to the base. Since the insertion tabs must always be positioned in the horizontal transverse joints, they can only be installed at heights determined by the tile size. Especially with large-format tiles, this can lead to unfavorable positioning, which impairs either the usability or the visual appearance.
[0003] The object of the invention is therefore to further develop a corresponding shower shelf in such a way that it can be mounted on room walls forming a common corner, regardless of horizontal transverse joints.
[0004] This problem is solved by the features of claim 1. Further developments and advantageous embodiments are specified in the subordinate claims.
[0005] The shower shelf for attachment to room walls forming a common corner, at least one of which is lined with a wall covering forming a joint, comprising a plate body with a base area for placing objects, wherein the plate body has two edges delimiting the base area on the wall side, which edges are arranged at an angle to one another which corresponds to the angle of the room walls forming the common corner, and at least one insertion web formed on the base area, which, when the shower shelf is attached to the room walls, engages as intended in a joint in the wall covering, is characterized according to the invention in that the insertion web is aligned along an axis perpendicular to the base area. The insertion web thus engages only in a vertically aligned joint in the wall covering and can be anchored therein in a variable manner over the entire length of the vertical joint in the wall covering.
[0006] According to a further development, the insertion web is assigned to a vertex of the converging wall-side edges of the panel body, so that the insertion web engages in a vertical joint forming the corner of the room walls. Such a joint forming the corner of the room walls exists regardless of the wall covering used or regardless of the size of the tiles forming the wall covering.
[0007] In a further embodiment, the panel body can have beveled edge sections on the wall-side edges, in particular edge sections that are beveled at least in sections. The beveled edge sections can then be brought into contact with the room walls forming the common corner during installation. Furthermore, the beveled edge sections can form adhesive surfaces, thus contributing to the secure positioning of the shower shelf on the room walls forming the common corner.
[0008] The insertion bar can be easily formed from an edge section of the panel body that is bent toward the base surface on the wall side. When manufacturing the shower shelf, only a single cutout corresponding to the length of the insertion bar needs to be made in the panel body.
[0009] The shower shelf, or at least the shelf body and the insertion bar, are therefore advantageously formed as a single piece. The cutout for the insertion bar can thus be made in a single production step, along with the shaping or cutting of the shelf body. According to a further development, the preferred material for the shelf body is stainless steel, for example, to prevent rust formation on the shower shelf and to ensure a surface that is easy to clean.
[0010] To prevent damage to the room wall or to a coating applied between the room wall and the wall covering, such as a waterproofing layer, the insertion bar, according to a further refinement, has a joint engagement depth that corresponds to the thickness of the wall covering, in particular, at most to the thickness of the wall covering. The shower shelf attached to the corner of the room walls then extends exclusively into the joint of the wall covering with the insertion bar.
[0011] Furthermore, the joint engagement depth of the insertion web advantageously corresponds to the width of at least one of the edge sections beveled on the wall side, in particular the width of the edge section of the edge of the panel body where the cut for the insertion web was made. The panel body to be cut can thus have a particularly simple and therefore inexpensive basic shape.
[0012] In order to be able to support and carry the weight of the shower shelf with objects placed on it, the insertion web advantageously has a longitudinal extension, starting from the base area in the direction of its free end, which corresponds to at least a quarter, in particular at least a third, of the length of the edges delimiting the wall side.
[0013] According to a further refinement, the panel body is provided with an edge ridge on its room-facing edge. This design provides, on the one hand, a visually appealing front edge and, on the other hand, a wider, less sharp-edged front edge of the shower shelf.
[0014] In a preferred embodiment, the edge web, together with the edge sections beveled on the wall side, can form a receiving area in which the wall covering of at least one room wall is arranged, in particular lined with it. The shower shelf is then visually adapted to the appearance of the wall covering and optimally integrates into the desired overall design. Alternatively, a receiving area formed by the beveled edge sections and the edge web can also form a tray that prevents objects placed on the base from sliding off.
[0015] According to a further design, the panel body can have recesses in its base. These then serve as drains for impinging liquids, such as shower water or shower gel, and are particularly advantageous for shower shelves that are not intended to be lined with a wall covering. According to this design, the room-side edge strip can be directed either toward the base or away from it, i.e., toward the floor as intended.
[0016] To allow for hanging objects, a further development of the panel body includes hanging hooks facing away from the base for placing objects. The hanging hooks are then cut out and bent out of the panel body, just like the insertion bar, the wall-side edge sections, and the room-side edge bar.
[0017] An embodiment of the invention, from which further essential features of the invention may emerge, is illustrated in the drawing. Identical parts are provided with the same reference numerals throughout the figures of the drawing. They show: Fig. 1: a plan view of a first embodiment of a shower shelf according to the invention; Fig. 2: a first perspective view of the first embodiment of the shower shelf according to the invention according to Fig. 1; Fig. 3: a second perspective view of the shower shelf according to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2; and Fig. 4: a perspective view of a second embodiment of the shower shelf according to the invention.
[0018] From the top view according to Fig. 1 shows the panel body 1 with its triangular base area 2. This base area 2 is bordered by two wall-side bordering edges 1a, 1b, which are arranged at a right angle to each other. The right angle corresponds to the angle between two room walls that form a corner in which the shower shelf is to be placed. On its room-side edge 1c, the panel body 1 has an edge web 3 extending over the entire length of the edge 1c.
[0019] At the edges 1a, 1b of the plate body 1, a bevelled edge section 4, 5 can be removed, wherein the edge section 4 is bent by the length of a Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 visible insertion web 6 and a width of the insertion web 6 is shorter than the length of the edge section 5.
[0020] The insertion web 6 is, as can be seen Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, its longitudinal axis is oriented perpendicular to the base surface 2 of the plate body 1. The insertion web 6 extends from the plate body 1 on a side of the plate body 1 facing away from the base surface 2, while the beveled edge sections extend in the opposite direction.
[0021] Furthermore, the beveled edge sections 4, 5 have the same height in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the insertion web 6. The insertion web 6, in turn, has a width equal to the height of the beveled edge sections 4, 5. The height of the beveled edge sections 4, 5 and the edge web 3 corresponds at most to the thickness of a wall covering that can be arranged in a receiving area of the shower shelf delimited by the beveled edge sections 4, 5 and the edge web 3.
[0022] The insertion web 6 is connected to the remaining plate body 1 via the beveled edge section 5 and is arranged in a common plane with the beveled edge section 5.
[0023] Fig. 4 finally shows an alternative embodiment of the plate body 1', which differs from the plate body 1 in two features, wherein the features can also be individually compared with the plate body 1 according to Fig. 1 to 3 can be combined. The first feature is the recesses 7 formed in the base surface 2' of the panel body 1', which are aligned in parallel strips at right angles to the room-side edge 1c'. The second feature is the hanging hooks 8, 8', which protrude from the beveled edge sections 4', 5' and are bent twice by 90° in the direction of the base surface 2' relative to the beveled edge sections 4', 5'.
