Background of the invention 1. Field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a children's high chair and, more particularly, to a children's high chair having a removable guard, a removable footrest, and a removable backrest and legs that is easily stowable for transport and storage. 2. Description of the state of the art
[0002] High chairs provide toddlers with safe seating at table height while enjoying other guests, and they must meet high safety standards, be easy to use, and have an attractive design. Conventional high chairs generally include a footrest to comfortably support the child's feet. As a child grows, the fixed footrest position of a conventional high chair no longer accommodates the child's increasing size. Typically, a fixed footrest is in a middle position, which is too far away when the baby is small and too close when the baby has grown, and which is optimal for a period in between. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a high chair suitable for a growing child.It is sometimes desirable to provide a table integrated into the child seat for use during meals or playtime, and it is an object of the invention to provide a child seat with an easily attached table. It is sometimes desirable to have a child seat with a removable back section, making the seat easier to transport or move, and it is another object of the invention to provide a high chair that can be folded to take up less space for storage. [0003] According to the claimed invention, there is provided a children's high chair 1 comprising a seat 2 and four legs 3, the seat 2 having an open front and a rear backrest 24 and from there extending forwardly sloping sides 26 which meet a seat surface 25;the seat 25 is pivotally attached on each side by a pair of seat pivots 6 to a pair of first leg attachments 4, each first leg attachment including a socket 5, each upper end of the first pair of four legs 3 being respectively located in each socket 5, and each first leg attachment 4 including a leg pivot 7 pivotally connected to a corresponding second leg attachment 8 including a socket 9 in which an upper end of every second pair of the four legs 3 is located, each leg extending outwards and downwards at an oblique angle, and feet 10 are provided at the opposite, lower end of each leg 3, each having an outer surface corresponding to the oblique angle of the leg, so that the chair 1 rests stably on a level floor;

[0006] In Fig. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a children's chair or high chair 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The chair 1 includes a seat 2 and four legs 3. The seat 2 has an open front and a rear backrest 24 and extends forward with sloping sides 26 that meet a seat base 25. The seat base 25 is pivotally attached to a pair of first leg attachments 4 on each side by a pair of seat pivots 6.
[0007] Each first leg attachment 4 includes a socket 5 located at the end opposite the hinge portion of the seat pivot 6, and in which the upper ends of the first front pair of the four legs 3 are located, respectively, in each socket 5. It is to be understood that the seat pivot 6 may alternatively be formed with a pin portion on the first leg attachment and the hinge on the seat 2. Each of these two first front leg attachments 4, in turn, includes a leg pivot 7 pivotally connected to a corresponding second leg attachment 8 via a pivot pin in the second leg attachment 8 and a receiving pin in the first leg attachment 4. [0011] The second leg attachment 8 is bent and includes an upper pivot section 11 arranged at an angle to a socket section 12. This allows the rear pair of legs to rest next to the front pair of legs, making the highchair more compact in the folded position. The angle between the pivot section 11 and the socket section 12 is approximately 110 degrees, but it can also be between 90 and 150 degrees.
[0012] Now referring to Fig. 3 to 6, a removable protective part 23 is provided, which includes armrests 27, a front rail 28, and a center bracket 29. This is necessary to provide a secure seat for a toddler so that they can sit at the same height as adults at a table. [0015] The guard 23 includes a rear section 13 that forms a continuous torus with the armrests 27 and the front rail 28 to define a cavity 14 that fits over the rear backrest 24 of the chair 1 to securely position the guard 23 when the releasable fastening device is attached. The user places the backrest 13 behind the rear backrest 24, and the spring clip 15 can be pushed into the slot 17, automatically locking the guard in position through tension. Claims
[1] A children's high chair 1 comprising a seat 2 and four legs 3, the seat 2 having an open front and a rear backrest 24 and forwardly extending sloping sides 26 which meet a seat surface 25, the seat surface 25 being pivotally connected on each side thereof by a pair of seat pins 6 to a pair of first leg attachments 4; each first leg attachment having a socket 5, the upper ends of the first pair of the four legs 3 being respectively located in each socket 5, and each first leg attachment 4 including a leg pin 7 pivotally connected to a corresponding second leg attachment 8 including a socket 9 in which an upper end of every second pair of the four legs 3 is located, each leg extending outwards and downwards at an oblique angle, and feet 10 being provided at the opposite lower end of each leg 3. [2] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that the leg pivot 7 includes a releasable, lockable hinge which is locked in a first unfolded position and releasable into an unlocked, foldable position so that the first pair of legs can be pivoted with respect to the second pair of legs and the chair 1 can be stored more easily. [4] High chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that the second leg attachment 8 is bent and includes a pivoting portion 11 which is arranged at an angle to a socket portion 12. [5] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 4, characterized by that the angle between the rotating part 11 and the socket section 12 is between 90-150 degrees. [6] High chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that a protective part 23 is provided which includes armrests 27, a front rail 28 and a central bracket 29. [7] High chair 1 according to claim 6, characterized by that the protective part 23 is removably attached to the seat 2 by detachable fastening devices. [8] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 7, characterized by that the fastening means are provided by a spring clip 15 at the lower end of the central bracket 29, which is releasably lockable in a slot 17 in the seat surface 2. [9] High chair 1 according to claim 7, characterized bythat the guard 23 includes a rear portion 13 which forms a continuous torus with the armrests 27 and the front rail 28 to form a recess 14 which fits over the rear portion 24 of the chair 1 to securely position the guard 23 when the releasable fastening device is attached. [10] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 7, characterized by that the middle bracket 29 is removable from the front rail 28 of the protective part 23. [11] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that at least two of the first pair of the four legs 33 also include receiving holes 38 for receiving fastening screws 39 for attaching a footrest 35. [12] High chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that the rear backrest 23 is removable by means of removable rear fastening devices 19. [13] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 12, characterized bythat the back fastening means comprise spring clips 19 arranged at the distal end of the rear backrest and engageable in corresponding slots 20 in the sides 26 of the seat 2. [14] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 12, characterized by that a belt bracket 18 can be removably attached to the rear backrest 23. [15] High chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that the upper end of the legs 3 includes a retaining hole 30 for receiving a bolt 21 which passes through a hole 22 in a side wall of the sockets 5, 9 and engages the retaining hole 30 to secure the legs to the sockets 5, 9. [16] High chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized bythat a stiffening strut 33 is provided extending between each leg of the second pair of legs, which is secured by a retaining bolt 31 passing through a through hole 34 in each of the legs of the second pair of legs 3 and held in a retaining hole in each distal end of the stiffening strut 33. [17] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 1, characterized by that a footrest 35 is provided which extends between each leg of the first pair of legs and is removably secured by U-shaped retaining channels 36 which are attached to the inner surface of each leg of the first pair of legs. [18] Children’s high chair 1 according to claim 17, characterized bythat each U-shaped channel 36 includes side walls 37, the side walls including an opening 38 corresponding to spring-loaded buttons 39 located at the distal ends of the footrest 35, such that the buttons are biased to extend through the openings 38, thereby locking the footrest in position between the legs 3, and the footrest is removable by depressing the buttons 39 until they are free from the opening 38, thereby allowing each end of the footrest 35 to be lifted out of the channel 36.
