AI Technical Summary
Current methods for passive irrigation in tree plantings, such as plastic split cylinders and textile-covered water reservoirs, face issues like soil compaction, overgrowth, slow water infiltration, water loss through evaporation, and are not suitable for traffic areas due to high installation complexity and cost, leading to inefficient water availability for plants.
A versatile infiltration box made from metallic or non-metallic materials, integrated with a debris trap and anti-slip surface, ensures a permanent connection to the tree pit, promoting water availability and soil gas exchange, adaptable to both paved and green areas, and featuring a circumferential rim to prevent sinking.
Enhances water availability to tree roots quickly, maintains soil health, and supports sustainable maintenance with low costs, while allowing installation in traffic areas by ensuring a permanent connection and preventing soil compaction and overgrowth.

Abstract
Description
Current state of the art:
[0001] Current methods of passive irrigation for tree plantings, including plastic split cylinders and aeration pipes, as well as textile-covered water reservoirs, are placed in the unsealed areas of the tree pit. This aims to drain surface water into the soil and promote soil gas exchange. Split cylinders and textile-covered water reservoirs can be installed in existing tree pits without significant effort, whereas the plastic aeration pipes require more complex installation. Due to the high cost, these solutions are not currently used in traffic areas within tree pits, such as cycle paths. Furthermore, split cylinders and textile-covered water reservoirs can lead to soil compaction and overgrowth of surface vegetation over time. This reduces the beneficial functions of the water reservoirs. Due to the slow rate of water infiltration into the soil, a large proportion of the water is lost, and the introduced water is only slowly available to the plants. The water takes a long time to reach the necessary depths to the root system. A significant amount of water is lost through evaporation.
[0002] The invention achieves that, in textile-covered water reservoirs, the water introduced into the soil is available to trees / plants after a short period and its function is permanently enhanced (claim 1). The previous problem that textile water reservoirs cannot be used in traffic areas is solved by this infiltration box. A permanent connection to the surface can be ensured, and the sealed parts of the tree pit can be used for water and soil gas exchange. Depending on the load requirements, the infiltration box can be manufactured from metallic and non-metallic materials as a permanent solution (claim 7). This promotes sustainability through low maintenance and repair costs.
[0003] The versatility of the system is ensured by the ability to adapt the geometric shape to the corresponding installation method; its shape and external dimensions allow it to be integrated into existing paved and green areas without major effort.
[0004] To prevent contamination of the soakaway box, a debris trap is installed. This trap can be accessed and emptied by opening the soakaway box. This debris trap is advantageously used within the system to attach the textile water reservoir to the soakaway box via a clamp connection. Water can then drain into the reservoir through the opening in the textile. If no debris trap is used, the water reservoir can be attached to a ledge on the system lid using a drawstring.
[0005] To prevent vertical displacement of the drainage box once installed, the lower bearing surface has been enlarged. A circumferential rim prevents it from sinking into the ground. This rim is designed so that surface coverings can be directly connected to the drainage box. Claims
[1] The drainage box is characterized by that a diffusion-open connection of a dimensionally stable, fabric-covered water storage tank in the ground with the surface is made, fluids can penetrate the ground more quickly through the openings of the drainage box of traffic and green areas. Drawing 1 (1). [2] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by , that the surface has a non-slip structure, drawing 1 (5). [3] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by , that a dirt trap insert with drainage holes can be used, this prevents water from remaining in the soakaway box and prevents dirt from the surface from contaminating the connected system, drawing 1 (2). [4] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by that the connection to the water reservoir is made with a drawstring or a clamp connection, depending on the design. [5] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by , that a circumferential cross-sectional widening, located below the surface layer to be installed, prevents it from sinking into the existing soil under load. [6] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by , that it can be manufactured from both plastics and metallic materials, depending on the expected stress conditions in the installed state. [7] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by , that its shape corresponds to that of a cylinder and a rectangular box, and that its dimensions are set between 100 and 300 mm. [8] The drainage box according to claim 1 is characterized by that its upper surface has lettering or images on an area of 160mm 2 can be introduced.
