Storm drain liner

A drain filtering system is disclosed, comprising a filter placed within a basket which is suspended from frame positioned underneath a drain grate atop the inlet to a storm drain. The filter is constructed from materials which filter out heavy metals and hydrocarbons from the water passing through. The filter also has overflow outlets to prevent back-up of storm water during periods of heavy rain. The basket is constructed from a corrosion resistant material, preferably high density polyethylene which can withstand the extreme pressures exerted by waste and water collected within the filter.

Stormdrain curb-inlet multi-stage filtration-unit

A hydraulic-permeation type environmental water-runoff filtration-system applicable to street curb-inlet type drainage-chambers, which generally cooperatively interconnect with street and parking-lot drains. The BLUEBAY-BMP™ pollution-trap provides advantage of community-tailored filtering stages, the preferred embodiment seting forth a convenient user-friendly prefabricated-kit assembly employing a basic build-in-place containment-housing which can be readily adapted to the studied needs of a given community,—without incuring alteration of existing sewer-stormdrains. The uniquely adaptative capability of the containment-housing enables selectively structuring multi-stages of filtration, which progressions address a variety of ecosystem-contaminants, ranging from basic street-refuse and floatable objects, to coarse sediment, finer silt, and comparatively minute albeit environmentally-hazardous petrochemicals, heavy-metals, phosphates, and nitrates;—all of which are readily retrieved from the apparatus confines via periodic maintenance for transfer to appropriate collection handling facilities.

A sink system includes a sink and a storage area receiving and storing matter from the sink. The storage area receives air from the bypass line during a flush. Also, matter from the storage area and sink is vacuumed through a common line during the flush. A valve limits an amount of air supplied by the bypass line such that increased suction is applied to the sink through the common line. The valve may be manually operated or operated by a controller.

Filtration of hydrocarbon containing liquid

An apparatus for and method of filtering hydrocarbon contaminated water is disclosed herein. The present invention may be used in drainage openings, particularly in parking lots and containment areas for large sources of hydrocarbons such as oil tanks or electrical transformers, to remove hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon contaminated water. The apparatus has a filtration compartment which filters out debris and sediment which may clog the treatment compartment. A pre-filter attachable to the apparatus may be used to further aid in filtering out sediment. A means for melting snow and ice may be incorporated within the filtration compartment such that liquid flow is not hindered during extreme weather conditions. The treatment compartment contains a hydrocarbon absorption media which absorbs any hydrocarbons present in the water rendering such water substantially hydrocarbon-free for discharge directly into a stream or groundwater. In the event of a hydrocarbon spill, the hydrocarbon absorption media forms a plug which seals off the flow of contaminated water. A hydrocarbon solubilizing material capable of effectively removing sheen in a first pass may be disposed as a top layer over the hydrocarbon absorption media. Preferably, each compartment is manufactured as a cartridge which may be dropped into a housing inserted into a drain opening.

Street curb drain filter

A street curb drain filter is comprised of U-shaped brackets for attaching to an inside wall of a street curb drain adjacent an inlet. A horizontal retaining bar is attached to the outer ends of the brackets. The lower edge of a horizontally elongated flexible net is attached to the retaining bar. The upper edge of the net is connected to the interior ceiling of the drain with eye bolts and S-hooks. A horizontally elongated debris basin is supported within the brackets. A filter media pack is positioned inside the basin adjacent a perforated outer wall of the basin. Water flowing from the street into the drain is directed through the filter. When runoff is relatively light, debris flowing into the drain is collected inside the basin. When runoff is relatively heavy or when the basin is clogged, debris bypassing the basin is filtered by the net.

Catch basin filter absorber apparatus and method for water decontamination

A storm water treatment device that is installed under the grate of new or existing catch basins, and more commonly referred to as an insert. The catch basin decontamination apparatus has a universal housing and support ring that allows one design to fit most applications. Adjustable chains allow for proper position below grate and a semi-flexible molded or rigid deflector directs incoming drain water to the housing. A slip-on filter / absorber cartridge fits over a perforated drain tube, in the center of the housing, allowing the drain water to first pass through the filter / absorber media before exiting through the drain tube and out the bottom of the housing. The filter / absorber cartridge includes a variety of absorber materials that absorb oil and repel water. Activated carbon, microbes and other site specific absorbents can be used in the replaceable slip-on cartridge. A leaf pre-strainer helps prevent leaves and debris from entering the housing. A clean in place suction tube and clod buster form of the apparatus aids in cleaning the housing.
