AI Technical Summary
Existing silicone pads primarily provide mechanical smoothing of wrinkles, which is temporary and limited to specific skin areas, and lack the ability to deliver active ingredients for broader skin care and treatment of conditions like age spots, cellulite, and skin disorders.
A silicone pad incorporating an active ingredient that diffuses into the skin, creating a microclimate for enhanced absorption and biological effect, providing long-term skin care and treatment benefits beyond mechanical smoothing.
The silicone pad delivers active ingredients that continue to work after removal, improving skin regeneration, reducing wrinkles, and treating age spots and skin disorders, with enhanced absorption and comfort across various skin areas.
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a silicone pad comprising an adhesive layer consisting essentially of silicone and containing the active ingredient, and further comprising a silicone body.
[0002] The present invention also relates to a cosmetic method comprising applying a silicone pad to the skin. State of the art
[0003] Current silicone pads are based on the discovery that wrinkles can be mechanically smoothed by wearing them for a longer period of time, for example, overnight. The skin structure remains in the smoothed position for several hours, allowing it to regenerate. Such pads or adhesive patches, which are applied to human skin to combat the formation of wrinkles, are well known. They are usually applied to the décolleté.
[0004] The German utility model DE 20 2014 001 876 U1 discloses a décolleté silicone pad for wrinkle reduction, made of 100% medical-grade silicone (measuring approximately 20 x 20 x 2.5 cm) and featuring a self-adhesive contact surface. The self-adhesive contact surface is given a self-adhesive property through special processing steps (adjusting the silicone hardness and polishing the contact surface). The décolleté silicone pad can therefore be used for several months and does not lose its properties.
[0005] CA 2,575,534 discloses a wrinkle reduction device to be applied between the female breasts, on the décolleté and in the upper breast area, which comprises a semi-rigid / semi-flexible membrane, a soft layer and another adhesive layer.
[0006] The German utility model DE 202015106000 U1 discloses a décolleté pad for adhering to the skin, comprising a support layer and an adhesive layer. The décolleté pad is preferably mirror-symmetrical along an axis of symmetry and has a teardrop shape.
[0007] The disadvantage of the aforementioned aids is that they only achieve a purely mechanical smoothing of the skin, meaning their effect can diminish immediately once use is stopped and the aid is removed from the skin. Furthermore, such aids are used exclusively for wrinkle reduction or as an anti-aging product, not as skin care products or for reducing age spots and pigmentation, cellulite, acne, atopic dermatitis, or other skin disorders. Another disadvantage is that these aids can only be used on a specific area of the skin, particularly the décolleté and chest area, but not on other areas of the skin where a caring effect and the fight against and prevention of skin aging are also desired.
[0008] The translation of a European patent specification DE 695 16 553 T2 further discloses a hot-melt silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive with siloxylated polyether waxes as an additive. The hot-melt silicone PSA compositions disclosed herein exhibit hydrophilic properties while maintaining PSA properties with respect to shear, adhesion, and removability.
[0009] The German patent application DE 101 14 382 A1 relates to a moisture-absorbing matrix based on silicone, in particular for wound care and / or pharmaceutical skin treatment, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive matrix consists of silicone, gelling agent and optionally a silicone resin.
[0010] US 2005 / 0208116 A1 discloses transdermal delivery devices for the transdermal delivery of an active substance, for example, a pharmacologically active substance. The device comprises a first and a second superimposed, mutually contacting adhesive layer, of which the first layer is a pressure-sensitive adhesive and is brought into contact with the skin during use. The first layer and the second layer can be made of, for example, silicone elastomers.
[0011] Korean patent KR 100 871 282 B1 discloses a cosmetic product, a so-called "beauty pad," used to improve facial wrinkles. It is a pad with an adhesive layer on one side, allowing it to be applied to the facial skin. The other side consists of a silicone sheet coated with a wrinkle-reducing agent. Description of the invention, task, solution, advantages
[0012] Based on the aforementioned considerations of the prior art, the present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a silicone pad that overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art described above. The object underlying the invention is achieved by the silicone pads defined in the claims, as is also evident from the accompanying exemplary embodiments. In particular, the present invention is based on the object of providing a silicone pad that allows the skin to be supplied with the active ingredient incorporated into the silicone pad in a relaxed and smooth position over a longer period of time.
[0013] Surprisingly, the inventors of the present invention discovered that the active ingredient can diffuse from the silicone pad to the skin, be absorbed by it, and exert a biological effect there. This particularly advantageous form of skin treatment is used both in anti-aging or care treatments and in the treatment of age spots, pigment spots, cellulite, pigment spots, and other skin disorders such as wound healing or impaired wound healing or atopic dermatitis. In addition, other active ingredients, including pharmaceutical agents or nicotine for smoking cessation, can also be incorporated. The skin is not only mechanically smoothed by the weight of the silicone pad, but also releases active ingredients that contribute particularly beneficially to skin regeneration or the treatment of the condition.
[0014] Surprisingly, the active ingredients can continue to work in the skin even after the application has ended. Furthermore, by combining the silicone pad with the active ingredient, the contact and absorption capacity of the skin tightened with the silicone pad can be increased, thus achieving ideal absorption of the active ingredient into the skin. A microclimate is created between the silicone pad and the skin layer, which, among other things, helps the skin open its pores, stimulate metabolism, and better absorb active ingredients.
[0015] The silicone pad also provides optimal nourishment for the skin, which has been optimally smoothed for hours, as the dermis layer is relieved and blood supply is significantly improved. This allows the formation of powerful, healthy skin cells, which also have a good capacity to absorb the active ingredients. In this optimally smoothed position, the skin is supplied with the important active ingredients over the long term, allowing it to regenerate better and smooth wrinkles. The long-term application of the active ingredients in a silicone pad also has an extremely positive effect on the skin regarding age spots and pigmentation, as the active ingredients penetrate longer and more intensively, thus achieving optimal results.
[0016] The silicone pad according to the present disclosure can also be used in scar treatment. The silicone pad, which contains at least one active ingredient, can be applied to scars, and the skin can be stimulated to self-heal and accelerate cell renewal through a microclimate.
[0017] Due to its diverse design, the present invention can be applied in various embodiments to all skin areas, particularly the back of the hand, the neck, the décolleté, the forehead, under the eyes, and around the mouth. It can also be used on the upper arms, the lower chin, and the pubic area, where cesarean sections are typically performed.
[0018] In a first aspect, the present disclosure relates to a silicone pad (1) suitable for adhering to the skin, as defined in claim 1.
[0019] For the purposes of the disclosure, a silicone pad is a flat object consisting predominantly of medical-grade silicone (medical-grade silicone) that has significantly larger dimensions in two spatial directions than in a third spatial direction. The two spatial directions with significantly larger dimensions can result in various shapes, in particular a circle or various circular shapes, including curves, an ellipse, a polygon, a drop, or a hand shape.
[0020] The silicone pad is preferably an addition-cured two-component silicone, which is particularly suitable for producing a silicone pad with good drug release. This material contains vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes (CAS No. 68083-19-2) and other crosslinking agents. The silicone content is > 95%. The silicones are preferably room-temperature-curing, platinum-catalyzed silicone elastomers.
[0021] Preferably, the silicone is characterized by high gas and water permeability. This allows the active ingredient to be optimally transported through the silicone pad. In an alternative implementation, the silicone pad is essentially gas-permeable, particularly permeable to water vapor, but not easily penetrated by water in liquid form (waterproof).
[0022] Preferably, the silicone is an addition-curing silicone that has cured to a soft, tacky silicone adhesive. Other advantageous properties of this silicone include excellent biocompatibility, no byproducts, good adhesion, and good platinum crosslinkability.
[0023] An active ingredient is a substance produced by the body or exogenously that can induce and influence a change in a biological process, such as skin aging. An active ingredient can also be a pharmaceutical ingredient. Absorption through the skin is generally beneficial for the user.
[0024] Due to the active ingredient being able to penetrate the skin during treatment with the silicone pad, the skin can not only be smoothed and cared for mechanically by the weight and adhesion of the silicone pad (1), but can also be treated by the active ingredient, whereby symbiotic effects can be observed in terms of pharmacokinetics due to the smoothing.
[0025] A particularly advantageous feature is that even after the silicone pad (1) has been removed, the active ingredient continues to treat the skin, ensuring additional skin care. This can result in improved skin care and an anti-aging effect. The combination of the silicone pad with the active ingredient also allows for a maximum contact surface between the skin and the silicone pad, resulting in particularly beneficial absorption of the active ingredient into the skin.
[0026] The active ingredients can penetrate the skin into the tissue and exert their biological activity there. The silicone pads according to the present disclosure have no adverse effects; in particular, wearing the silicone pad is not uncomfortable, and no peeling effects occur. The silicone pad feels soft, wrinkles are visibly reduced, and skin compatibility is particularly good.
[0027] Without wishing to be bound by any theory, the inventors of the present invention believe that due to the high polarity of hyaluronic acid and other active ingredients and the low polarity of silicone, the hyaluronic acid or other active ingredients embedded in the adhesive gel are slowly released into the outer skin lying on the skin, so that the hyaluronic acid already released into the skin can be replenished. In addition, other parts of the active ingredient will also migrate towards the base material because there is no barrier layer. Comparative studies have shown that oil also atomizes in water and after some time recombines as oil droplets. Without wishing to be bound by any theory, the inventors believe that a significant effect of particle release is due to the warmth and moisture of the skin, which creates a microclimate beneath the silicone pad.
[0028] The silicone pad preferably has a thickness of 0.5 to 2.0 mm, particularly preferably 0.8 to 1.5 mm, and especially 1.2 mm. With such a thickness of the silicone pad, the wearing comfort and the mediated effect of the active ingredient are ideal.
[0029] The concentration of the active ingredient in the silicone pad is preferably approximately 0.5 to 3.0 ‰ (w / w), particularly preferably 1.0 to 2.0 ‰ (w / w), ideally approximately 1.6 ‰ (w / w).
[0030] In an alternative implementation, the active ingredient can also be contained in the silicone pad at a concentration of 0.1 to 9.9%; preferably 0.5 to 7.0%, and ideally approximately 1.0% (w / w). In this case, oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, or aloe vera in liquid form can also be used as the active ingredient. Surprisingly, the silicone pad becomes softer in this case, which provides the additional benefit of good adhesion to the skin.
[0031] Advantageously, the silicone pad can also contain a silicone oil. If the silicone pad contains a silicone oil, the pad becomes softer in use, thus enabling good adhesion to the skin. Polymerized siloxanes with organic side chains can preferably be used as silicone oils within the meaning of this disclosure. This is characterized by the periodically alternating arrangement of silicon and oxygen atoms with the general molecular formula [R 1 < R 2 < SiO] n. The free outer electrons of the silicon are preferably attached to radicals R, which are mostly organic residues, but can also be halogens. The molecular mass of the silicone oils used is preferably in the range of 162 to 150,000 g / mol. The density of the silicone oils is preferably in the range of 0.76 to 1.07 g / cm 3 .
[0032] In an advantageous implementation, the silicone oils have a viscosity of 0.6 to 1,000,000 mPs. This achieves optimal haptic properties of the silicone pad.
[0033] Preferably, the silicone oil is polydimethylsiloxane, in which the radicals R 1< and R 2< are each a methyl group.
[0034] In a preferred implementation, the silicone pad (1) may comprise an adhesive layer (2) and a silicone body (3). The adhesive layer (2) may consist essentially of silicone and contain the active ingredient.
[0035] Alternatively, the silicone pad (1) can consist of a silicone body (3) enclosing the active ingredient. The silicone pad can have a polished side. In this case, the silicone pad exhibits longer-lasting self-adhesion. The silicone pad or adhesive layer can comprise additional aids that enable secure attachment of the silicone pad to the skin. For example, the silicone pad can comprise a cotton fabric on one side to protect the silicone pad from external influences. Furthermore, the aid can also be a cotton glove suitable for slipping over the back of the hand.
[0036] An adhesive layer is any material layer that, after the silicone pad has been applied to the skin, ensures its adhesion to the skin for at least three hours or more, even without the application of additional force. In particular, an adhesive layer can consist essentially of silicone. Preferably, the adhesive layer has a silicone content of at least 95%.
[0037] The silicone body preferably has a thickness of 0.5 to 2.0 mm, particularly preferably 0.8 to 1.5 mm, and in particular substantially 1.2 mm. The adhesive layer preferably has a thickness of 0.2 to 1.0 mm, particularly preferably 0.4 to 0.8 mm, and in particular 0.6 to 0.7 mm. With such a thickness of the silicone body and the adhesive layer, the dosage amount of the active ingredient is economically justifiable, and the wearing comfort of the silicone pad is ideal.
[0038] Preferably, the adhesive layer of the silicone pad is softer than the silicone body. Furthermore, the adhesive layer preferably has greater water permeability than the silicone body. In this case, the silicone body of the silicone pad can be used as a mechanical support matrix, while at the same time, the adhesive layer can effectively deliver the active ingredient to the skin.
[0039] The concentration of the active ingredient in the adhesive layer is preferably approximately 0.6 to 5.0 ‰ (w / w), particularly preferably 1.5 to 3.0 ‰ (w / w), and ideally approximately 1.7 ‰ (w / w). At such a concentration of the active ingredient in the adhesive layer, the diffusion rate is ideal in relation to the material consumption of the active ingredient.
[0040] If the adhesive layer (2) of the silicone pad (1) contains the active ingredient, maximum release of the active ingredient to the underlying skin can be ensured. The adhesive layer can preferably be in direct contact with the skin surface during application and can thus be absorbed by the skin even faster, more intensively, and for a longer time. This enables particularly effective skin treatment. Furthermore, no active ingredients remain unused by remaining in the silicone pad (1). The silicone pad in this design is particularly advantageous in that the silicone body (3) provides the necessary stability and weight to mechanically smooth the skin. At the same time, the dosage of the active ingredient is particularly economical.
[0041] In a further implementation, the silicone pad (1) can be suitable in shape and size for resting on the back of a hand (4).
[0042] The silicone pad (1) suitable for application to the back of the hand can preferably have a finger shape, whereby the silicone pad (1) can extend over the entire back of the hand (4) and beyond the metacarpophalangeal joints (5) up to the proximal joints (6). This allows for optimal treatment of the skin area on the back of the hand (4). Furthermore, the silicone pad (1) can be flatter in the area of the metacarpophalangeal joints (5) than in the area of the rest of the back of the hand (4). This allows for greater adaptability, flexibility, and extensibility of the silicone pad (1) in these areas, so that the silicone pad (1) does not detach from the hand despite movement of the hand, but rather ensures optimal hold. The advantage of this is that, compared to existing products, the silicone pad (1) can be used not only on the décolleté, neck, or face, but also on other skin areas, such as the back of the hand. However, the application of a silicone pad with active ingredients on the neck, décolleté or face also offers significant advantages over the silicone pads that have previously only been used manually, particularly in skin care and to stimulate regeneration and reduce wrinkles.
[0043] The silicone pad or the adhesive layer of the silicone pad may also contain other ingredients. For example, the silicone pad or the adhesive layer of the silicone pad may contain one or more of the following additional ingredients: neroli; neroli oil; rosemary; rhealba; copper sulfate, copper, zinc sulfate, zinc; glycerin; comfrey; witch hazel; or peptides.
[0044] The advantage is that after the silicone pad (1) is stuck onto the skin, the active ingredient is in direct contact with the skin surface and can therefore be absorbed by the skin even faster, more intensively and for a longer period of time.
[0045] The active ingredient can be processed as a fine powder or as a liquid or gel-like mass.
[0046] In a further aspect, the disclosure comprises a silicone pad (1) of shape and size suitable for application to the back of a hand (4), wherein the silicone pad is suitable for tightening wrinkles on the back of the hand (4).
[0047] The silicone pad (1), which is suitable for application to the back of the hand (4), can be finger-shaped, extending over the entire back of the hand (4) as well as beyond the metacarpophalangeal joints (5) to the proximal joints (6). This allows for optimal treatment of the skin area on the back of the hand (4).
[0048] In a further implementation, the silicone pad (1) can comprise hinge areas (7). A hinge area is a portion of the silicone pad that has a lower material thickness and is thus easier to bend than other portions of the silicone pad.
[0049] This enables improved adaptability, flexibility and stretchability of the silicone pad (1) in these areas, so that the silicone pad (1) does not detach from the hand despite movement, but ensures optimal hold.
[0050] In a further aspect, the disclosure also relates to a cosmetic method as defined in claim 9. The cosmetic method mechanically treats and tightens the skin, while also allowing the active ingredient of the silicone pad to penetrate the skin tissue and exert a cosmetic effect there.
[0051] This can help prevent and reduce wrinkles, age spots, and dark spots. The silicone pad can also be used for skin care, wound and scar treatment, skin diseases, cellulite, or generally for the delivery of pharmaceutical active ingredients. Thanks to different designs, the silicone pad can be used on various skin areas, especially on the back of the hand.
[0052] Furthermore, the disclosure also relates to a cosmetic method for scar regression in a subject, as defined in claim 9.
[0053] The silicone pad may also contain other medicinal substances as active ingredients. Examples of medicinal substances include antibiotics,
[0054] Proton pump inhibitors, antidepressants, painkillers, antihistamines, sedatives, antihypertensives and other medicinal agents. Short description of the characters
[0055] In the following, some particular embodiments of the invention are described by way of example and not exhaustively with reference to the accompanying figures.
[0056] The specific embodiments serve only to illustrate the general inventive concept, but they do not limit the invention.
[0057] It shows the: Fig. 1 a lateral cross-section of a silicone pad (1). Fig. 2 a top view of a finger-shaped silicone pad (1) suitable for resting on the back of the hand. Fig. 3 shows the results of studies on drug absorption.
[0058] Fig. 1 shows a lateral cross-section of a silicone pad (1). The silicone pad (1) consists of a silicone body (3) and an adhesive layer (2) containing active ingredients, which rests on the skin.
[0059] Fig. 2shows a top view of a finger-shaped silicone pad (1) suitable for resting on the back of the hand (4). The silicone pad (1) covers the back of the hand (4) and extends over the metacarpophalangeal joints (5) to the proximal finger joints (6). The joint areas (7) are located directly above the metacarpophalangeal joints (5).
[0060] Fig. 3 shows the results of studies on the absorption of active ingredients. Fig. 3A shows a silicone pad with an adhesive layer. The adhesive layer contains 6 mg of hyaluronic acid (<20 thousand Daltons) in powder form. The powder was colored with green food coloring to illustrate diffusion. The adhesive layer was combined with a silicone body to create a silicone pad. The silicone pad was applied daily to the skin of a test subject for a period of 2 weeks.
[0061] This study shows that the hyaluronic acid is not stored in the upper layer, but must have been released downwards into the skin.
[0062] The study also shows that the upper silicone layer is the carrier layer. This means it has a different strength and is essentially completely impermeable to water. The lower layer, containing the active ingredient, is softer and has sufficient water permeability to release the particles to the skin through skin contact (heat and moisture).
[0063] The Fig. 3B shows the same silicone pad after 2 weeks of daily use. As shown in the Fig. 3B As can be clearly seen, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the silicone pad decreases significantly due to diffusion into the skin, which is demonstrated by the significant color reduction of the silicone pad. Examples Production of silicone pads
[0064] The following describes the production of silicone pads that can be used as décolleté pads or eye pads. Information about the manufacturing process
[0065] The material used contains vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes (CAS No. 68083-19-2) and other crosslinking agents. The silicone content is > 95%.
[0066] The two-component, addition-curing base material is evenly dosed into the appropriate mold using a computer-controlled multi-component dosing system. The mold is then transferred to an oven, where it is vulcanized using radiant heat for approximately 5-7 minutes at a temperature of approximately 55-65°C. In the next step, another computer-controlled multi-component dosing system applies a thin, even layer of the two-component, addition-curing, tacky adhesive gel to the cured base material. This mold is then transferred to an oven, where the adhesive gel is also vulcanized using radiant heat. The curing process takes approximately 8-10 minutes at a temperature of approximately 70-85°C. The finished products are then demolded, inspected, and packaged.
[0067] Additive substances (hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, etc.), whether liquid or powdered, are stirred into a component of the adhesive gel using a mixer at a speed of up to 25,000 rpm to ensure homogeneous incorporation. To prevent settling or separation of the substance, this silicone component is repeatedly stirred at a fixed interval, depending on the substance being stirred in, so we can guarantee consistent quality. Example 1: Decollete pad
[0068] Silicone pads were manufactured from vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes (CAS No.: 68083-19-2) and conventional crosslinking agents as excipients. The silicone content, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is at least 95%. The production of these silicone pads has been described elsewhere and corresponds, for example, to the silicone-based matrices disclosed in DE 101 14 382 A1. The silicone pads have the following values in the silicone body (base material): thickness 1.2 mm, weight 19.3 g. The adhesive layer has the following values: thickness 0.6 mm, weight 8.5 g. The weight fraction of the added hyaluronic acid in the adhesive layer is 14 mg / 8.5 g, thus 1.6 ‰ (w / w).
[0069] The adhesive layer is created by stirring the powdered hyaluronic acid (11 - 14 mg) into the gel-like silicone (8.5 g).
[0070] The silicone pad described above is suitable for use as a décolleté pad. Example 2: Eye pad
[0071] Silicone pads were manufactured from vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes (CAS No.: 68083-19-2) and conventional crosslinking agents as excipients. The silicone content, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is at least 95%. The production of these silicone pads has been described elsewhere and corresponds, for example, to the silicone-based matrices disclosed in DE 101 14 382 A1. The silicone pads have the following values in the silicone body (base material): thickness 1.2 mm, weight 1.9 g. The adhesive layer has the following values: thickness 0.7 mm, weight 0.9 g. The weight fraction of the added hyaluronic acid in the adhesive layer is 1.5 mg / 0.9 g, thus 1.7 ‰ (w / w).
[0072] The adhesive layer is created by stirring the powdered hyaluronic acid (1.5 mg to 2.0 mg) into the gel-like silicone (0.9 g).
[0073] The silicone pad described above is suitable for use under the eyes. Example 3: Efficacy study
[0074] In an empirical efficacy study, silicone pads according to the invention and a blind sample were tested on a total of 15 subjects aged 29 to 61 years. The silicone pads listed in Table 1 were tested. Table 1: Tested silicone pads Silicone pad no. Active ingredients 1 - 2 Hyaluron 3 Collagen 4 Aloe Vera
[0075] The silicone pads were applied to the skin daily for at least 1 hour, ideally overnight, for at least 14 consecutive days. The contact areas were the back of the hand, the area under the eyes, the décolleté area, the neck, and the forehead. Subjects were then asked for their subjective opinion: a) whether the silicone pads were well tolerated and could be used without problems, b) whether a visible reduction in wrinkles and / or other positive effects were observed, c) which of the silicone pads listed 1 to 4 showed 1=best, 2=very good, or 3=good effectiveness, and d) whether any negative effects were observed.
[0076] Of the 15 subjects, 14 subjectively felt that all silicone pads were well tolerated. One subject described the tolerability as more or less good.
[0077] Of the 15 subjects, 13 subjects were of the subjective opinion that visible wrinkle reduction and / or other positive effects were observed with all silicone pads. Two subjects described that visible wrinkle reduction and / or other positive effects occurred only with silicone pads 2 and 3, while they were unsure about silicone pad 1.
[0078] Regarding the effectiveness of silicone pads 1 to 4, the subjective observations of the test subjects are summarized in Table 2. Table 2: Results of the efficacy study. Observed effectiveness Silicone pad no. 1 (best) 2 (very good) 3 (good) 1 - 5 10 2 15 - - 3 4 9 2 4 1 8 6
[0079] All 15 subjects stated that no negative effects were observed when using the silicone pads.
[0080] The empirical efficacy study demonstrates that the silicone pads are well tolerated by the skin and do not exhibit any adverse effects. The silicone pads with hyaluronic acid as the active ingredient demonstrated the greatest effectiveness against wrinkle formation. The silicone pads with collagen and, to a lesser extent, aloe vera also demonstrated good efficacy. The silicone pads without active ingredients (blank samples) demonstrated the least effectiveness against wrinkle formation.
[0081] Without wishing to be bound by any theory, the inventors of the present invention suspect that the closed or complete application of the silicone pad to the skin causes the test subjects to sweat slightly, resulting in the hyaluronic acid or other active ingredients being released by the thin layer of the adhesive layer and eluted from the silicone material through sweat. In this way, the silicone pad acts as a longer-lasting and more persistent reservoir on the skin's surface and can achieve the desired effect over the entire wear period, even with repeated or temporarily interrupted treatment.
[0082] Without wishing to be bound by any theory, the inventors of the present invention suspect that, with regard to their effectiveness in scar regression, the silicone pads of the present invention act according to the following mechanism of action. By applying the silicone pad, a higher skin temperature can be achieved, at which the physiological process of scar healing progresses more rapidly. Alternatively, by applying the silicone pad, a higher humidity can be achieved, and this process can lead to faster regression of the scar tissue. This process can be enhanced by the release of appropriate active ingredients. Example 4: Studies on skin compatibility and skin tightening
[0083] In an empirical efficacy study, silicone pads according to the invention were tested on a total of 25 volunteers aged 35 to 64. Silicone pads containing hyaluronic acid were tested as décolleté pads. The total weight of the silicone pad was 28 grams, with a hyaluronic acid concentration of 11 mg.
[0084] The silicone pads were applied to the skin overnight for 14 consecutive days. The contact area was the décolleté area. Afterward, the subjects were asked for their subjective opinion on whether the silicone pads were tolerable and could be used without problems. Skin tightening was tested using a Visioscan VC 98, comparing the values before and after application.
[0085] All 25 subjects reported no adverse effects from using the silicone pads. In particular, they did not experience any skin drying, redness, or discomfort.
[0086] The empirical efficacy study proves that the silicone pads with active ingredients (here hyaluronic acid) are well tolerated by the skin, produce measurable and lasting skin smoothing and show no negative effects.
[0087] The test subjects stated that the product does not peel off the skin overnight. The pad smoothes the skin on the décolleté and the skin becomes pleasantly smooth overnight.
[0088] Skin imperfections and wrinkles were visibly removed overnight.
[0089] Skin smoothing measured using the Visioscan VC 98 showed an average improvement of 19%. Skin smoothing was observed equally in all subjects. List of reference symbols
