Description

[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle door handle arrangement comprising a handle carrier, a door handle pivotably mounted on the handle carrier between a home position and an actuating position, a deflection device coupled to the movement of the door handle which is rotatably mounted on the handle carrier via a pivot axis, and a mechanical resistance element which is designed to push the door handle back into its home position after it has been moved out of its home position, wherein in the home position of the door handle the mechanical resistance element is designed to exert a predetermined threshold force on the door handle which holds the door handle in the home position.

[0002] From EP 1 816 290 A2, a device for opening a motor vehicle door is known. The device comprises a locking mechanism, a handle, a sensor coupled to the handle for detecting when the handle is pulled by an operator, and a control unit that receives an output signal from the sensor. The handle acts on a transmission mechanism that opposes a movement caused by pulling the handle with a force that returns the handle to its original position. The transmission mechanism is designed such that the operator receives tactile feedback indicating that they have pulled the door handle with sufficient force to open the door or hatch.

[0003] Furthermore, DE 10 2018 100654 A1 discloses a motor vehicle handle assembly comprising a bearing bracket, a recessed housing with a receiving space, a handle element mounted on pivot arms, and a locking cylinder extending within the receiving space. The pivot arms are non-rotatably connected to a bearing axis, which is rotatably mounted on the bearing bracket, allowing the handle element to move between a home position and an extended position. In the home position, the handle element covers the locking cylinder, and in the extended position, it releases the locking cylinder for the insertion of a key. The handle element can be moved into the extended position by actuating it with an actuating force, in which it is positioned to release the locking cylinder for the insertion of a key.

[0004] A motor vehicle door handle assembly of the type mentioned above is known, for example, from DE 10 2012 103 154 A1. This motor vehicle door handle assembly has a door handle pivotally mounted on a handle carrier, which is coupled to a deflection device that is rotatably mounted on the handle carrier and transmits a pivoting movement of the door handle via the deflection device and a Bowden cable attached to the deflection device to a locking device on the vehicle side. After the door handle has been pivoted from its home position to the operating position for mechanical door opening, a return spring ensures that the door handle is moved back to its home position. For mechanical door opening, a user must move the door handle against the force of the return spring. The force of the return spring increases with the length of the swing, making the process uncomfortable and strenuous. Mechanical door opening is also provided for so-called quasi-fixed door handles, where, in normal electrical operation, the handle is merely touched by the user but does not swing out and therefore remains in its home position. The touching or approaching of a user's hand is detected by a sensor, which then triggers an electric door opening mechanism. For emergency operation without power, a mechanical redundancy is provided in which a mechanical door opening is triggered by pivoting the door handle from the basic position, as described above for DE 10 2012 103 154 A1, so that here too the mechanical door opening is inconvenient for a user, since the user has to exert a high force and increasing force with increasing deflection of the door handle in order to effect a mechanical door opening.

[0005] The invention is therefore based on the objective of creating a solution that provides a motor vehicle door handle arrangement in a structurally simple manner, which is cost-effective to manufacture and in which, moreover, for a mechanical door opening, which may be necessary even with quasi-fixed door handles, for example in the event of a system failure (for example as a result of a vehicle accident) or a power failure (for example as a result of a weak battery), access to the interior of the motor vehicle is still possible for a user in a comfortable manner.

[0006] In a motor vehicle door handle arrangement of the type mentioned in the introduction, the problem is solved according to the invention in that the deflection device and the mechanical resistance element form a lever system which is designed to exert a resistance force that counteracts the movement of the door handle moved from the basic position in the direction of its actuation position and which decreases continuously in the direction of the actuation position and which is designed such that the actuation force to be exerted by a user for a movement of the door handle moved from the basic position in the direction of the actuation position decreases as the door handle is moved more and more.

[0007] Advantageous and appropriate embodiments and further developments of the invention are set out in the dependent claims.

[0008] The invention provides a motor vehicle door handle assembly characterized by its simple and cost-effective design. Because the deflection device and the mechanical resistance element form a lever system that exerts a resistance force opposing the movement of the door handle towards its actuated position, and which decreases continuously in that direction, the motor vehicle door handle assembly is very comfortable and easy for the user to operate for mechanical door opening. The lever system is thus designed in such a way that the force opposing the pivoting movement of the door handle is reduced, thereby decreasing the force required for mechanical door opening by the user.

[0009] In one embodiment of the invention, the resistance force is less than the predetermined threshold force. This provides the user with a tactile feedback of a stop. As long as the force exerted by the user on the door handle remains below the predetermined threshold force, the door handle is stationary in its home position. Only when the user applies a force greater than the threshold force can the door handle be pivoted, for example, to enable mechanical door opening in the case of a vehicle without power.

[0010] It is particularly advantageous with regard to the required installation space if, in an embodiment of the invention, the lever system is designed with levers whose length varies depending on the position of the door handle. In this way, the installation space can be used very efficiently.

[0011] With regard to a simple and compact design of a motor vehicle door handle assembly, the invention further provides that the lever system has an actuating lever which is integrally formed on the deflection device and extends radially from the axis of rotation, and a resistance lever which is formed on the mechanical resistance element, wherein the mechanical resistance element is rotatably mounted on the handle carrier via an axis, and wherein the actuating lever and the resistance lever are movable relative to each other.

[0012] For a motor vehicle door handle arrangement that is advantageous in manufacturing, a further embodiment of the invention provides that the mechanical resistance element is designed in the manner of a torsion spring with a first spring leg and a second spring leg, wherein the resistance lever is the first spring leg, and wherein the second spring leg is supported on the handle carrier.

[0013] In an embodiment of the invention, a lever system whose lever arm lengths can be varied is made possible by having the actuating lever rest against a side surface of the resistance lever.

[0014] With regard to a variable lever arm length, the invention provides in a further embodiment that, when the door handle is moved in the direction of the actuating position, the actuating lever is designed to move along the side surface of the resistance lever in the direction of the free end of the resistance lever.

[0015] To ensure user-friendly operation of the vehicle door handle assembly, the invention provides that the door handle can be moved beyond the actuation position into an end position in which a free end of the actuation lever rests against the free end of the resistance lever. Mechanical door opening thus occurs even before the end position is reached.

[0016] In an embodiment of the invention, for a variable lever arm length, it is further provided that in the basic position of the door handle the free end of the actuating lever is arranged at a smaller distance to the axis than in the actuating position of the door handle.

[0017] In a further embodiment of the invention, for optimized use of the installation space, it is advantageous if the actuating lever is arranged extending between the resistance lever and the door handle, at least in the basic position of the door handle.

[0018] Accordingly, for variable lever arm length and optimal use of installation space, it is also particularly advantageous if, in an embodiment of the invention, the axis and the axis of rotation are arranged at a distance from each other on the handle carrier.

[0019] The vehicle door handle arrangement according to the invention features a quasi-fixed door handle which remains stationary in its home position during a purely electric door opening process. The user's intention to open the door is electronically detected. In an embodiment of the invention, the door handle is equipped with sensor electronics for detecting user actuation of the door handle. Upon detecting actuation of the door handle with an actuation force less than the predetermined threshold force, the sensor electronics initiate an electric door opening, and the door handle remains in its home position. Switches or capacitive sensors can be used on or in the door handle. The use of inductive sensors is also possible. For the purposes of the invention, the term "sensor electronics" is to be understood as a switch, a button, a capacitive sensor or an inductive sensor, which serve to detect an actuation of the door handle caused by a user.

[0020] Finally, the invention provides for the quasi-fixed door handle of the inventive motor vehicle door handle arrangement in an embodiment such that the deflection device is designed to enable mechanical door opening at the latest when the door handle reaches the actuated position. When the actuated position is reached, the deflection device is arranged pivoted about its axis of rotation in such a way that mechanical door opening is achieved by means of a Bowden cable connecting the deflection device and the vehicle-side locking device.

[0021] It is understood that the features mentioned above and those to be explained below can be used not only in the combinations specified, but also in other combinations or individually, without departing from the scope of the present invention. The scope of the invention is defined solely by the claims.

[0022] Further details, features and advantages of the subject matter of the invention will become apparent from the following description in conjunction with the drawing, in which an exemplary and preferred embodiment of the invention is shown.

[0023] The drawing shows: Figure 1 a side view of a motor vehicle with several motor vehicle door handle arrangements according to the invention, Figure 2 a motor vehicle door with a motor vehicle door handle assembly and an electronic locking system, Figure 3a perspective rear view of a door on which a motor vehicle door handle arrangement according to the invention is attached, Figure 4 a perspective view of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement from Figure 3 , Figure 5 a perspective view of individual parts of the in Figure 4 shown motor vehicle door handle arrangement, Figure 6 a perspective sectional view of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement, in which the door handle is arranged in a basic position, Figure 7 a perspective sectional view of the in Figure 4 The motor vehicle door handle arrangement shown, in which the door handle is arranged in an operating position, Figure 8 a sectional view of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement according to the invention, in which the door handle is arranged in the basic position, Figure 9a further sectional view of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement according to the invention, in which the door handle is arranged in the actuating position, and Figure 10 a further sectional view of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement according to the invention, in which the door handle is arranged in an end position.

[0024] Elements and components with the same function and mode of operation are designated with the same reference numerals in the figures for all embodiments.

[0025] In Figure 1 A motor vehicle 1 in the form of a passenger car is shown as an example, which in this example has four doors 2 (two of which are made of Figure 1 (as can be seen) which have a motor vehicle door handle arrangement 3 and, in particular, can be opened with the aid of a door handle 4. With reference to the Figures 1 and 2The doors 2 are locked via their respective door locks 5 and can be opened from the outside by operating the respective door handle 4. The door handle 4 has a gripping handle part that can be operated to open the door 2 or the door lock 5, whereby the operation in the illustrated embodiment of the Figures 1 to 10A pulling force exerted on the door handle 4 by a user can be detected by sensor electronics 6 integrated into the door handle 4. For electric door opening, an electromechanical locking system 7 is then activated in normal operation, which opens or closes the door lock 5. The sensor electronics 6 either detects a small force of, for example, 10 N exerted on the handle part of the door handle 4, or simply the approach of an authorized user's hand, whereupon the door lock 5 opens. In both cases, the door handle 4 remains stationary on the door 2 during normal operation, giving the user the impression that it is a fixed door handle 4 which nevertheless remains firmly in its position even when a pulling force is applied.Various solutions for the sensor electronics 6 are known in the prior art, which can also be used in the vehicle door handle arrangement 3 according to the invention. For example, a switch or push button as well as a capacitive or inductive sensor can be used on or in the door handle 4. Since these are known measures, a detailed description of the sensor electronics 6 is omitted. In an emergency operation without power, for example when the vehicle battery no longer supplies energy, it is possible to open the door mechanically by the user pulling on the door handle 4 with a force exceeding the normal operating force, which then causes it to pivot out and the door 4 to be opened via a corresponding mechanism. Therefore, such a vehicle door handle arrangement 3 is also referred to as a quasi-fixed door handle. 4.The invention can be applied to both door handles 4 with sensor electronics 6 and door handles 4 without sensor electronics. 6, purely mechanical opening systems are used.

[0026] Referring to the Figures 3 to 5 The motor vehicle door handle assembly 3 according to the invention is described below. The motor vehicle door handle assembly 3 has a handle carrier 8 which is attached to the inside of the door 2. Furthermore, the motor vehicle door handle assembly 3 has the door handle pivotably mounted on the handle carrier 8. 4,The door handle 4 comprises a deflection device 9 coupled to its movement and a mechanical resistance element 10. The door handle 4 has a first longitudinal end 11 and a second longitudinal end 12, with its first longitudinal end 11 pivotably mounted on the handle carrier 8, allowing the door handle 4 to move between a neutral position and an actuated position on the handle carrier 8. A handle hook 14 projects from the second longitudinal end 12 of the door handle 4 and is coupled to the deflection device 9, so that a pivoting movement of the door handle 4 is transmitted to the deflection device 9. The deflection device 9, in turn, is connected to the door lock 5 of the door 2 via a Bowden cable (not shown in the figures), enabling the door to be mechanically opened when the door handle 4 is pivoted by a user. The deflection device 9 is rotatably mounted on the handle carrier 8 via a pivot axis 15.Furthermore, the mechanical resistance element 10 is designed to push the door handle 4, which has been moved out of its home position, back into its home position, so that the mechanical resistance element 10 serves, among other things, to return the swiveled-out door handle 4 to its home position.

[0027] In the vehicle door handle arrangement 3 according to the invention, the door handle 4 is designed to pivot outwards for mechanical door opening, such as in the case of emergency operation without power, whereas in normal electrical operation, the door can be opened electrically without pivoting outwards. In normal electrical operation, the door handle 4 remains in its home position and is thus a quasi-fixed door handle 4. For this purpose, the mechanical resistance element 10 is designed to exert a predetermined threshold force 16 on the door handle 4, which holds the door handle 4 in its home position. The threshold force 16 can, for example, be 150 Newtons, so that when the door handle 4 is manually operated with a low actuating force by a user, it remains in its home position, thus giving the user the impression that the door handle 4 is fixed when the door is opened electrically. The mechanical resistance element 10 is rotatably mounted on the handle carrier 8 via an axis 17. As further shown, for example, in... Figure 5 As can be seen, an actuating lever 18 is integrally formed on the deflection device 9. The actuating lever 18 extends radially from the axis of rotation 15 and runs in a straight line. Furthermore, a resistance lever 19 is formed on the resistance element 10. The resistance lever 19 is straight and extends essentially radially from the axis 17.

[0028] A characteristic feature of the invention is that the deflection device 9 and the mechanical resistance element 10 form a lever system 20, which is designed to exert a resistance force 21 that opposes the movement of the door handle 4 towards its actuated position and decreases continuously in the direction of the actuated position. The lever system 20 includes, among other things, the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19. Figures 6 and 7 The interaction of the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 is shown in the respective perspective views, in which the handle carrier 8 is partially shown in section, whereby in the Figure 6 the door handle 4 is arranged in its basic position, whereas in the Figure 7 The door handle 4 is arranged in its operating position. For clarity, the door handle 4 is shown in the Figures 6 and 7 not shown. But as can be seen from the two Figures 6 and 7As can be seen, when the door handle 4 is manually operated, it pivots, causing the deflection device 9 to rotate about its axis of rotation. This also causes the actuating lever 18 to rotate and press against the resistance lever 19. It is evident that the pivoting movement of the door handle 4 can only occur if the resistance force 21 of the mechanical resistance element 10 is overcome. Because the deflection device 9 is rotatably mounted on the axis of rotation 15 and the mechanical resistance element 10 is rotatably mounted on the axis 17, the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 are movable relative to each other.

[0029] The operating mode of the motor vehicle door handle arrangement 3 according to the invention is described below based on the Figures 8, 9 and 10 described, whereby in Figure 8 the door handle 4 is arranged in its basic position, whereas in the Figure 9The door handle 4 is arranged in its operating position for mechanical door opening. Figure 9 shows an end position of the door handle 4, in which the door handle 4 is pivoted beyond the operating position.

[0030] In Figure 8 The door handle 4 is in its home position. This can be either a case where the door handle 4 is not actuated, or a case where the door is being opened electrically. In the case of electrical door opening, the sensor electronics 6 detects (see Figure 2 ) an operation of the door handle caused by a user 4. The sensor electronics 6 detect an actuation of the door handle 4 with an actuation force 22 (see Figure 8), which is smaller than the specified threshold force 16, is designed to initiate an electric door opening, with the door handle 4 remaining in its home position. In the illustrated embodiment, the mechanical resistance element 10 is designed like a torsion spring with a first spring leg 23 and a second spring leg 24, wherein the resistance lever 19 is the first spring leg 23. The second spring leg 24 is supported by the handle carrier 8. Alternatively, instead of a second spring leg 24, support can also be provided by two corresponding spring legs 24, as shown in Figure 5 This is shown by way of example. Returning to the Figure 8 It can be seen that the actuating lever 18 is arranged extending between the resistance lever 19 and the door handle 4, at least in the basic position of the door handle 4, with the resistance lever 19 pressing against the actuating lever 18.

[0031] In the Figure 9The door handle 4 is now positioned in its actuated position for mechanical door opening and pivoted accordingly. This is therefore a case where a power-off emergency operation is in place or at least where mechanical opening is intentionally desired. In this case, the user must exert a force to overcome the threshold force 16 in order to release the door handle 4 from its position. Figure 8 shown basic position in the Figure 9 to be able to move the door handle 4 in the operating position shown. Once the door handle 4 is moved out of its home position, the user must apply less force than the threshold force 16 to move the door handle 4 towards the operating position, because the resistance force 21 generated by the mechanical resistance element 10 when the door handle 4 is moved out of its home position is less than the predetermined threshold force 16, as shown in Figure 9The decreasing resistance force 21 of the mechanical resistance element 10 when the door handle 4 is moved from its home position is achieved by the lever system 20 being designed with levers 18, 19 whose lengths vary depending on the position of the door handle 4, as shown by the comparison of the Figures 8 and 9 This shows that in the home position of the door handle 4, a lever arm length L1 acts on the actuating lever 18 and a lever arm length L2 acts on the resistance lever 19, where the lever arm length L1 of the actuating lever 18 is greater than the lever arm length L2 of the resistance lever 19. The lever arm lengths change when the user overcomes the threshold force 16 and moves the door handle 4 out of the home position. In the Figure 9In the actuating position of the door handle 4 shown, a lever arm length L3 acts on the actuating lever 18 and a lever arm length L4 on the resistance lever 19, whereby the lever arm length L4 of the resistance lever 19 is now greater than the lever arm length L3 of the actuating lever 18. In particular, the lever arm length L1, L3 of the actuating lever 18 decreases by at least 25% when the door handle 4 is moved towards its actuating position, whereas during this movement of the door handle 4, the lever arm length L2, L4 of the resistance lever 19 increases by at least 30%. Accordingly, the lever system 20 is designed to change the lever arm lengths of the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 differently, so that the respective lever arm lengths do not change identically for both levers 18 and 19. The actual length of the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 naturally do not change. When a change in lever arm length is mentioned, this refers to a change in the effective lever arm length, as can be seen from the comparison of the . Figures 8 and 9 This is evident, whereby the effective lever arm lengths are determined by the point at which the free end 27 of the actuating lever 18 rests on the side surface 26 of the resistance lever 19. Due to the changing lever arm lengths of the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 depending on the position of the door handle 4, the resistance force decreases continuously in the direction of the actuated position of the door handle 4. According to the invention, the changing lever arm lengths are achieved because the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 are not rigidly connected to each other, but rather because the actuating lever 18 rests against the side surface 26 of the resistance lever 19. The actuating lever 18 is movable along the side surface 26 with its free end 27, as can be seen from the comparison of the Figures 8 and 9This is evident. More precisely, when the door handle 4 is moved towards the actuated position, the actuating lever 18 is designed to move along the side surface 26 of the resistance lever 19 towards the free end 28 of the resistance lever 19. While in the basic position of the door handle 4 the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 are arranged at least partially one above the other and extend essentially parallel to each other, in the actuated position of the door handle 4 the actuating lever 18 and the resistance lever 19 are arranged forming a V relative to each other, with the free end 27 of the actuating lever 18 permanently resting against the side surface 26 of the resistance lever 19.In the basic position of the door handle 4, the free end 27 of the actuating lever 18 is arranged at a smaller distance from the axis 17 than in the actuated position of the door handle 4, with the axis 17 and the pivot axis 15 being spaced apart from each other on the handle carrier 8. It should be noted that the deflection device 9 is designed to enable mechanical door opening at the latest when the actuated position of the door handle 4 is reached.

[0032] In the Figure 10Figure 4 shows a position of the door handle 4 in which it is arranged to extend beyond its actuation position into an end position. In this end position, the free end 27 of the actuation lever 18 rests against the free end 28 of the resistance lever 19. The door handle 4 cannot be moved beyond this end position, which serves only to prevent the door handle 4 from pivoting beyond its actuation position, as the actuation force 29 required by a user decreases as the door handle 4 is moved further from its home position. This is because the actuation force 29 required by a user to move the door handle 4 from its home position towards the actuation position decreases as the door handle 4 is moved further.

[0033] In summary, a motor vehicle door handle assembly 3 has been described. The motor vehicle door handle assembly 3 comprises a door handle 4 pivotably mounted on the handle carrier 8 from a home position to an operating position, a deflection device 9 coupled to the movement of the door handle 4 and rotatably mounted on the handle carrier 8 via a pivot axis 15, and a mechanical resistance element 10 designed to push the door handle 4 back into its home position after it has been moved out of its home position. In the home position of the door handle 4, the mechanical resistance element 10 exerts a predetermined threshold force 16 on the door handle 4, which holds the door handle 4 in the home position.Furthermore, the deflection device 9 and the mechanical resistance element 10 form a lever system 20, which is designed to exert a resistance force 21 that opposes the movement of the door handle 4 towards its actuated position and decreases continuously in the direction of the actuated position. Thus, the vehicle door handle arrangement 3 according to the invention has a door handle 4 in which the necessary handle actuation force 29 decreases with increasing handle travel or with increasing pivoting of the door handle 4 as a result of a constant change in the lever lengths L1, L2, L3, L4. The axis position of the actuating lever 18 differs from the axis position of the resistance lever 19. According to the invention, a high initial force is necessary, which can be referred to as the force threshold / threshold force 16 and acts on the user like a stop, whereby the force for mechanically opening the door is less than the threshold force 16.

[0034] The invention described is, of course, not limited to the embodiment described and illustrated. It is evident that numerous modifications, obvious to a person skilled in the art in relation to the intended application, can be made to the embodiment shown in the drawing without departing from the scope of the invention.
