Description
Technical area
[0001] The present invention relates to a filter element. Furthermore, the invention relates to an interior air filter comprising such a filter element. The invention further relates to a filter arrangement or a filter device.
[0002] Although applicable to any filter elements and arrangements, the present invention and the problem underlying it are described below for an interior filter of a motor vehicle.
[0003] Increasing air pollution, especially in large cities, combined with the use of modern air conditioning systems, makes it necessary to clean the air drawn from outside into the interior of a vehicle and then treated or conditioned using suitable filters. Examples of suitable filters include particle filters, odor filters, or a combination of these, which are designed to filter out or adsorb suspended matter, particles, and odors contained in the ambient air as effectively as possible.
[0004] Folded or pleated filter materials, such as filter fleeces that form a pleated pack, are often used to filter air in the interior of a motor vehicle. For this purpose, an initially flat sheet of filter material is folded in a zigzag pattern. The pleated pack is held in place by side bands and head bands, for example, or by another frame. Such filter elements can be interchangeably mounted in a filter holder. The resulting filter assembly can be installed in the air conditioning system of a corresponding motor vehicle. State of the art
[0005] EP 1 434 641 B1 discloses a filter element in which tabs projecting laterally from a pleat pack are used to seal against a housing. Such tabs are pressed against the housing by engaging means in the pleat valleys. DE 10 2004 054 246 A1 discloses a filter element in which end pleat sections of a pleat pack are clamped between housing parts.
[0006] From DE 103 24 681 A1 a filter element with a zigzag folded pleat pack is known, wherein a closing element is provided on at least one end face of the pleat pack parallel to the fold, which closing element stiffens the pleat pack and seals the filter element against a wall surface of a filter holder. Disclosure of the invention
[0007] Against this background, the present invention is based on the object of creating an improved filter element and / or a filter arrangement in which, in particular, an edge-side seal can be improved.
[0008] Accordingly, a filter element is proposed with a pleat pack made of zigzag-folded filter material, with side bands attached to pleat profiles of the pleat pack, and with at least one sealing section protruding from an end pleat section at the top of the pleat pack. The sealing section comprises at least one cutout that serves to accommodate a corresponding filter housing contour.
[0009] A cutout is understood to mean a closed recess in the sealing section.
[0010] The sealing section protruding from the head end, for example at an angle, achieves improved sealing against housing components because the incisions or cutouts facilitate attachment and thus reinforcement and positioning of the head end. Compared to the longitudinal side bands, which offer a certain degree of stability due to their application to pleated profiles, it is desirable to achieve improved sealing at the head end, i.e., in the machine direction of the pleated pack. This is possible with the help of the sealing sections, especially without additional sealing devices that are not related to the filter material.
[0011] Furthermore, an interior air filter with such a filter element is proposed. An interior air filter is understood to be a fresh air filter for the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. Alternatively, the filter element can also be used in household applications, for example, in kitchen extractor hoods. Further possible applications are described below.
[0012] In some embodiments, the angularly projecting sealing section is part of a headband attached to an end pleat section of the pleat pack. The headband is a flat section located between the side bands, usually made of a filter material. The sealing section can then be understood as a tab projecting from the headband.
[0013] Alternatively or additionally, the sealing section can be formed by a protruding end pleat. This has the advantage that no additional manufacturing costs are incurred by attaching the headband.
[0014] For example, in a cuboid-shaped filter element, the sealing section can protrude from a top edge. The notches or cutouts allow for precise engagement with a corresponding filter housing contour, for example, in the form of engagement elements that penetrate through the notches or cutouts. Particularly with multiple notches or cutouts, the head side is additionally held and stabilized by the interaction with the engagement elements of the filter housing. This leads to improved sealing, for example, by radially pressing the sealing section against a sealing surface of the housing.
[0015] In embodiments, the filter element comprises at least one further sealing section, which extends laterally at an angle from one of the side bands. Such a further sealing section protrudes, in particular, from one of the side bands and also comprises at least one notch or cutout. The notch or cutout can be adapted to accommodate a corresponding filter housing contour.
[0016] In embodiments, the filter element has two sealing sections on the head side with indentations and / or cutouts and two sealing sections which protrude from the side bands and only optionally have indentations or cutouts.
[0017] In some embodiments, the sealing section is formed from a flat strip of material. In some embodiments, the filter material is particularly suitable as the strip of material. Preferably, the filter element is also free of any additional sealing devices, in particular made of plastic foam materials, such as polyurethane (PUR) or other plastics used as sealing materials.
[0018] In some embodiments, the cutout is formed by a hole and / or a punched-out section in the material strip. Rectangular, round, or even triangular hole geometries are particularly suitable, allowing flexible adaptation to the corresponding engagement element in the filter housing.
[0019] In embodiments, the sealing section is a section of a side band attached to the fold profiles of the fold pack that extends laterally beyond a width and / or height of the fold pack. Additionally or alternatively, the sealing section can be a section of an attached headband that extends laterally beyond a length and / or height of the fold pack. Furthermore, the sealing section can be a section of an end fold section that extends laterally beyond a length and / or height of the fold pack.
[0020] In some embodiments, the side band and / or the head band have an L-shaped profile, with the shorter section or leg corresponding to the respective sealing section. The protruding section allows the filter element to be sealed against a housing at the head end in a cost-effective manner.
[0021] In some embodiments, the sealing section protrudes laterally from the fold pack, extending beyond the height of the fold pack. The angled sealing section can protrude diagonally to the side and beyond the height of the fold pack. The sealing section can also be folded over so that it resiliently presses laterally against a housing wall.
[0022] In some designs, the angle at which the sealing section protrudes from the end pleat section can be variable, i.e., the sealing section has a degree of rotational freedom relative to the end pleat section and is, to a certain extent, mounted in an articulated manner. This simplifies installation on the filter housing, especially when a sealing section with a cutout (closed recess) is provided.
[0023] The filter element is preferably formed exclusively from a filter material, such as a nonwoven material, and from an adhesive material necessary for attaching the side and / or head straps. In embodiments, the filter element is free of additional sealing devices, particularly made of rubber or plastic foams, attached to the pleated pack and / or the sealing section.
[0024] Furthermore, a filter arrangement comprising a filter housing and a filter element, as described above or below, is proposed. The filter element can be at least partially accommodated in the filter housing. It can also be referred to as a filter device.
[0025] The filter housing comprises a housing part with at least one engagement element which forms the housing contour corresponding to the incision or cutout.
[0026] In some embodiments, the incisions or cutouts, such as holes or notches, interact with engagement elements, generally made of plastic materials, of the filter housing part. The corresponding geometries in or on the sealing section and the filter housing result in improved positioning and thus sealing between the filter element and the housing, and stability can be improved, particularly at the head end. Because the filter element is fastened along the head end by the incisions and engagement elements, in particular several incisions, it is possible to achieve improved sealing by means of sealing strips of the filter housing that encompass the sealing section. In this case, it is not necessary, for example, to insert an edge of the sealing section into a slot.Rather, sealing can be achieved by pressing the sealing section between housing parts, particularly in the axial direction.
[0027] In embodiments, the housing part may comprise a sealing strip which presses against the sealing portion so that the latter is fastened thereto.
[0028] In some embodiments, a further housing section with an additional sealing strip can be provided. The sealing section can then be clamped or compressed between the sealing strips and is held in place by the corresponding contours of the notches or cutouts of the sealing section with the engagement elements of the filter housing.
[0029] In embodiments, the engagement element(s) may comprise a hook. For example, it is possible for several openings in the sealing section, which protrudes at an angle, to be attached to such hooks that pierce the sealing section.
[0030] The filter element comprises, for example, a filter material and one or more stabilizing elements, in particular in the form of side bands and / or headbands (also referred to as headbands), which stabilize the filter material at least in sections to maintain its shape, particularly during filter operation. The stabilizing elements, in particular the side and headbands, can form a closed or open frame—also made of a single piece of material—that surrounds the filter material.
[0031] The filter element for the pleated pack preferably comprises two head bands and two side bands, which are connected to the pleated pack, in particular by a material bond, and enclose it in a frame-like manner as sealing sections. The side and head bands are formed, for example, from a nonwoven material, in particular a filter fleece, filter fabric, or filter scrim. The nonwoven material of the side and head bands can, in particular, have a lower air permeability than the filter medium and / or a higher flexural rigidity than the filter medium.
[0032] The filter material can be pleated or wave-shaped. Zigzag or W-folds are examples of known pleats. The filter material can be embossed and then folded with sharp edges along the embossed edges to form folded edges. The starting material can be a flat filter material sheet, which is then formed accordingly. The filter material can be, for example, a filter fabric, a filter scrim, or a filter fleece. In particular, the filter material can be produced using a spunbond or meltblown process. Furthermore, the filter medium can be felted or needle-punched. The filter material can comprise natural fibers, such as cotton, or synthetic fibers, for example made of polyester, polyphenyl sulfide, or polytetrafluoroethylene. During processing, the fibers can be oriented in, diagonally, and / or transversely to the machine direction.
[0033] The filter material can be single- or multi-layered. It can also contain an adsorbent, such as activated carbon. Furthermore, the filter material can have an antimicrobial and / or antiallergenic effect. Examples of antimicrobial substances include zinc pyrithione or nanosilver, and examples of antiallergenic substances include polyphenol.
[0034] A corresponding filter element is used to filter fluids, i.e., gaseous and / or liquid media, such as air. A gaseous medium or air here also includes gas or air-solid mixtures and / or gas or air-liquid mixtures. For example, an air conditioning system can incorporate this filter element.
[0035] A particularly open filter material can be designed to remove particles of test dust A4 according to ISO 12103-1 from an air stream with a filtration velocity of 0.10 to 0.30 m / s, based on the filter media area, and an air permeability of greater than 3000 l / m 2 < s (determined according to ISO 9237 at 200 Pa). The filtration parameters can be determined, for example, according to DIN 71460-1.
[0036] A particularly high-efficiency filter material can be designed to remove particles of test dust A2 according to ISO 12103-1 as well as NaCl aerosol particles according to DIN 71460-1 from an air stream with a filtration velocity of 0.10 to 0.30 m / s, based on the filter media area, and an air permeability of greater than 600 l / m 2 < s (determined according to ISO 9237 at 200 Pa). The filtration parameters can be determined, for example, according to DIN 71460-1.
[0037] In some embodiments, the filter material is manufactured as a synthetic medium with a multi-layer structure. The filter material preferably has a grammage of 50–150 g / m².
[0038] The filter material preferably corresponds to an efficiency class of E10 - H14 according to DIN EN 1822-3 in the version on the filing date of this application.
[0039] In some variants, the pleat spacing is less than 5 mm. A possible design for the filter element is a HEPA filter. The material thickness of the filter material, especially a HEPA filter material, is, for example, between 0.2 mm and 1 mm. In other embodiments, significantly thicker filter materials can be used, such as so-called combination filter media, which have a gas adsorption filter layer in addition to at least one particle filter layer. The thickness here can be up to 2 mm or even up to 3 mm. Accordingly, the pleat spacing should also be selected larger, in particular greater than 5 mm.
[0040] The filter element can be used in passenger cars, trucks, construction machinery, watercraft, rail vehicles, aircraft, and generally in air conditioning technology, particularly in heating and air conditioning units, household appliances, fuel cells, or building services. These motor vehicles can be powered by electricity and / or fuel (especially gasoline or diesel). With regard to building services, stationary air treatment systems are particularly suitable.
[0041] The invention further relates to a vehicle with such a filter arrangement.
[0042] The features described for the filter element apply to the cabin air filter, the filter arrangement and the vehicle accordingly, and vice versa.
[0043] Further possible implementations of the invention also include combinations of features or method steps described above or below with respect to the exemplary embodiments that are not explicitly mentioned. In this case, the person skilled in the art will also add individual aspects as improvements or additions to the respective basic form of the invention.
[0044] Further embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims and the exemplary embodiments of the invention described below. The invention is explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments with reference to the accompanying figures. Short description of the drawings
[0045] It shows: Fig. 1 : a schematic representation of a general motor vehicle with a cabin air filter; Fig. 2 : a perspective view of a filter material; Fig. 3 : a schematic view of a filter element according to an embodiment; Fig. 4 : a perspective view of a first embodiment of a filter arrangement in an exploded view; Fig. 5 : a perspective view of the first embodiment in assembled state and an elevation; Fig. 6 : a sectional view of the first embodiment and detail sections; Fig. 7 : a perspective view of a second embodiment of a filter arrangement in an exploded view; and Fig. 8 : a side view with a marginal elevation of Fig. 7 . Embodiment(s) of the invention
[0046] Fig. 1shows a motor vehicle 100 with an air conditioning system comprising a filter assembly 10. For example, the air conditioning system can be designed as a heating / air conditioning system. The air conditioning system or the filter assembly 10 takes in outside air 11 and supplies filtered air 12 to a cabin 13 (also referred to as the passenger compartment) of the motor vehicle 100. Filtering is performed via a filter element 1 designed as an interior air filter.
[0047] Fig. 2shows a pleated filter material 3 in isolation and, in the form shown, can be referred to as a pleated pack 2. The filter material 3 is, for example, a filter fleece, filter fabric, filter scrim, or filter felt, in particular a needle felt. In particular, the filter material 3 can be produced using a meltblown process. The filter material 3 can comprise natural fibers, such as cotton, or synthetic fibers, for example made of polyester, polyphenyl sulfide, or polytetrafluoroethylene. During processing, the fibers can be oriented in, obliquely, and / or transversely to the machine direction M. The fibers can also be stretched in one spatial direction. The filter material 3 can be single-layered or multi-layered.
[0048] To form the pleat pack 2, the filter material 2 comprises folds 6, which typically extend transversely to the machine direction M. The folded filter material 2 is also referred to as pleats. The folds 6 can be created by folding along sharp fold edges 7, 8 (also referred to as pleat tips) or by a wave-shaped design of the filter material 2. Fig. 2 upper fold edges 7 and in the orientation of the Fig. 2 Underside fold edges 8. A respective fold 6 can be defined by two adjacent fold sections 5, which are connected to each other via a corresponding fold edge 8. The fold is designed as a zigzag fold. This results in a zigzag-shaped fold profile 4, 9 on the sides of the fold pack 2.
[0049] A pleat in which the pleats 6 have a varying height H is also possible. Furthermore, the pleat spacing C between the pleats 6 or adjacent fold edges 7, 8 of the same fold orientation can vary. The filter material 2 can be self-supporting, ie, the pleats 6 are dimensionally stable when subjected to the intended flow during filter operation.
[0050] The filter material 3 is delimited in the machine direction M by end pleat sections 5A, 5B. Transversely thereto, the filter material 9 is delimited by lateral pleat end edges (also referred to as pleat profiles 4, 9). "Fold end edge" refers to the lateral edge of the filter material 3 on the side of the pleat pack 2, which extends between adjacent pleat edges 7, 8 of a respective pleat 6.
[0051] The filter material 3 can have a rectangular shape in plan view, i.e., in plane E of its planar extension. However, a triangular, pentagonal, polygonal, round, or oval shape is also conceivable.
[0052] In the presentation of the Fig. 2 A length L of the fold pack 2 is indicated along the machine direction M and transversely to the fold edges 7, 8. A width B of the fold pack 2 is usually indicated along the fold edges 7, 8 and transversely to the machine direction M. A radial direction is understood here to be a direction in the plane E, and an axial direction is perpendicular to this, i.e. essentially along the flow direction.
[0053] To produce a filter element, for example an interior air filter element, the Fig. 2 A surrounding frame element is attached to the fold pack 2 shown. Fig. 3 is that out Fig. 2The illustrated fold pack 2 with upper fold edges 7 is indicated. Side bands 14, 15 are attached to the folding profiles 4, 9. The side bands 14, 15 each have an L-profile with a section 14A, 15A, which is glued to the folding profiles 4, 9, for example, and a laterally projecting leg 14B, 15B. The laterally projecting side band sections or legs 14B, 15B serve as sealing sections for lateral sealing against housing surfaces. The Fig. 2 vertical legs 14A, 15A correspond to the height H of the fold pack 2.
[0054] On the head side, in the orientation of the Fig. 3directed to the front right, the pleated pack 2 is closed with a headband 16. The headband 16 in turn comprises a section or leg 16A, which corresponds to the height H of the pleated pack 2, and a laterally and angularly projecting leg 16B as a sealing section. On the head section of the pleated pack 2 opposite the headband 16, which is in the orientation of the Fig. 3 As indicated at the top left, the end fold section 5A has a protruding leg 5C as a sealing section that extends beyond the height H and the length L of the fold pack 2. The leg 5C is separated from the end fold section 5A by a folding edge.
[0055] While the side bands with the sections 14a, 15a attached to the folding profiles 6 and the angled sealing sections 14B, 15B are quite stable, the head-side bands or sealing sections 5C, 16B from the fold pack 2 have less stabilization. The folding edge, over which the sealing section 5C, 16B protrudes from the respective end fold 5A or the head band section 16A, essentially serves as stabilization. To achieve improved positioning and fastening or storage of the angularly protruding sealing section 5C, 16B, the sealing sections 5C, 16C are provided with cutouts 17, 18.
[0056] Two holes 18 are provided in each of the sealing sections 5C, 16B and a central notch 17. Corresponding engagement elements of a housing can engage into these incisions 17 or cutouts 18. On the one hand, this improves the positioning and fastening of the entire filter element, and on the other hand, the use of unsuitable filter elements with unsuitable contours or cutouts can be prevented, similar to a key-and-lock principle. This increases the operational reliability, for example, of the motor vehicle in which a corresponding filter element 1 is to be used. Other embodiments not explicitly shown have either angularly projecting sealing sections 16B as part of the headband 16 or correspondingly configured end pleat sections 5C on the headband side.
[0057] In Fig. 4 , 5 and 6 A first embodiment of a filter arrangement 10 is explained. Fig. 4 a perspective view in an exploded view with a filter housing consisting of two housing parts 19, 20 and a filter element 1 which can be accommodated therein. Fig. 5 shows the filter arrangement or filter device 10 in the assembled state, and Fig. 6 Sectional views.
[0058] One recognizes in Fig. 4 and 5 a filter housing 25 composed of two housing parts 19, 20. The filter housing 25 is frame-shaped and suitable for accommodating a cuboid-shaped filter element 1. The filter element 1 has a pleat pack 2, in Fig. 4 Visible side bands, of which only the front one 14B is designated with a reference numeral, and two head bands 16 (16A, 16B), with angularly projecting sections that are folded over radially serving as sealing sections 16B. The sealing sections 16B each have three notches 17 that have a quadrangular shape.
[0059] The sealing sections 16B are made of filter material and implemented as tabs or strips. The Fig. 4 The lower housing part 20 comprises two sealing strips 22 on the headband side of the filter element 1 and holding elements 21 opposite each other on each side of the respective sealing strip 22. The upper housing part 19 also has two sealing strips 24 provided for the headband sides, which comprise engagement elements 23 formed by inwardly directed projections.
[0060] In the assembled state, as in Fig. 6 As shown, the upper sealing strips 24 are guided between the lower sealing strip 22 and the retaining elements 21. The retaining elements 21 correspond to the engagement elements 23 of the upper sealing strip 24, so that the projections 23 engage in the cutouts 17 of the sealing section 16B, which are implemented as punched-out sections. Fig. 6The bottom left shows a section through an area where the sealing strip 24 and its radially inwardly directed projections are not directly visible. Fig. 6 , bottom left, that the headband section 16B acting as a sealing section is clamped and sealed between the sealing strip 22 of the lower housing part 20 and the sealing strip 24 of the upper housing part 19, at least in the lower area.
[0061] In addition, the engagement of the projections 23 of the upper sealing strip 24, as shown in Fig. 6 , bottom right, into the corresponding contours of the cutout 17 to form a Fig. 6 horizontal displacement security of the sealing section 16B. In addition, an incorrect installation position of the filter element within the housing is prevented. In the illustration of the Fig. 6a rectangular incision or cutout 17 is made from an outer edge 28 of the sealing section 16B. In the illustration of the Fig. 4 It can be seen that three such cutouts or incisions 17 are provided on the respective sealing section 16B. In the installed state, the sealing section 16B is essentially folded over so that it runs along the flow direction S. The width of the sealing section 16B can be adapted to the housing construction in each case.
[0062] Figs. 7 and 8 show a second embodiment of a filter arrangement with sealing sections surrounding a pleat pack 2. Fig. 7 shows a perspective exploded view and Fig. 8 a side view with a marginal elevation. In the embodiment according to Figs. 7 and 8The filter element 1 has a square base, and the pleated pack 2 is provided with side and head bands. Both the side bands 14B, 15B and the head bands 16B, 16C have a laterally angled section that protrudes as a sealing section 14B, 15B. The tabs or strips 14B, 15B, 16B, 16C that function as sealing sections are provided with holes 18 that can be attached to engagement elements of the housing part 19, designed as hooks 26.
[0063] The housing part 19 has a frame surrounding the outer contour of the filter element with outwardly directed hooks 26. In Fig. 8 In the installed state, one can see how the respective sealing section 14B, 16B is folded around the housing edge and is secured from the outside via the hooks 26 by means of the holes 18. The respective hook 26 pierces the hole of the sealing section 16B, 16C, 14B, 15B. Not all hooks and openings are provided with reference symbols.
[0064] In the variant of the Figs. 7 and 8 the housing edge also serves as a sealing strip from the inside against the side band and head band sections 16A secured by the fastening by means of the holding elements 26 and from the outside against the sealing sections 16B (cf. Fig. 8 , bottom right). This creates a good seal at the edges without the need for additional sealants.
[0065] Corresponding contours created by recesses or cutouts on the sealing section of the filter element on the one hand and the housing accommodating the filter element on the other ensure good sealing, positioning, and stabilization of the filter element, particularly on the headband side. Although specific geometries of corresponding contours of the recesses or cutouts and engagement elements are explained in the description, these can be adapted to the specific installation situation. Preferably, at least two such recesses / cutouts are provided on the headband side per side of the filter element. Reference symbol
