Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a ventilation device for a vehicle as defined in the preamble of claim 1.

[0002] The invention relates more particularly to a ventilation device intended to manage air flows in a motor vehicle. This system can advantageously be used for managing the temperature of the vehicle's engine but it can also be used for managing the aerodynamics of the vehicle.

[0003] Such a ventilation device is, for example, arranged at the front of the vehicle and is part of the vehicle's grille. The ventilation device allows the management of an incoming air flow intended to be in contact with the engine cooling system and allowing the engine to be kept at the optimum operating temperature. This known device advantageously makes it possible to combine a high-performance aerodynamic shape of the vehicle and an optimal engine operating temperature.

[0004] Documents FR 2 754 013 A1, DE 10 2012 000173 A1 and FR 2 404 557 A1 describe known ventilation devices.

[0005] These ventilation devices are most often hidden behind grilles or grills.

[0006] The shutters of these ventilation devices pose rigidity problems, particularly in the case of large shutters, i.e. shutters with a length greater than or equal to 350 millimeters (mm).

[0007] Furthermore, when these sealing devices are visible from outside the vehicle, the risk of the sealing devices bending becomes significant due to the air pressure becoming very high on the sealing device.

[0008] Indeed, for such large shutters and / or when the shutters are exposed to air pressure, problems may arise with the blocking of their rotational movement between their open and closed positions. As a result, the shutters do not have optimal kinematics between their open and closed positions.

[0009] To solve these problems, it is known from the state of the art to provide several separate shutter devices having shutters of shorter length extending in continuity with each other and each having a system for rotating the shutters. The choice in the size and shape of the shutters is therefore limited.

[0010] These sealing devices are relatively bulky, complex to produce and to mount on the vehicle due to the multiplicity of parts involved in the manufacture of these devices.

[0011] Furthermore, these closing devices can degrade the aesthetics of the vehicle, the transition between adjacent shutters being visible, in particular when these are visible from outside the vehicle, whereas the desire of car manufacturers is to adapt the grille to the style of the vehicle so that it integrates as well as possible and aesthetically into the architecture of the vehicle.

[0012] The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks by proposing an improved ventilation device.

[0013] To this end, the invention relates to a ventilation device of the aforementioned type as defined by the characterizing part of claim 1.

[0014] The guidance system helps to stiffen the entire shutter device because the guidance system provides an additional support point on the frame.

[0015] Thus, the guidance system prevents the closure device from jamming. In particular, the kinematics of the closure device are secured because the guidance system allows for different kinematics compared to the pivot connection and which accompanies the movement of the closure device.

[0016] Thanks to the invention, it is possible to reduce the number of shutters. Control of the shutter device is therefore simplified.

[0017] In addition, the ventilation system is secured by the use of at least two different rotation systems, namely pivoting and guided movement of the pin in the guide groove.

[0018] In addition, the shutter device allows greater freedom in choosing the shape of the shutter while containing the space required for rotating the shutters.

[0019] This makes it easier for the shutter device to match the vehicle's style.

[0020] Finally, the shutter device is compact and can be integrated into a limited available volume. This contributes to the integration of the ventilation device in different types of vehicles.

[0021] Known shutter devices comprise shutters having a curved shape and pivot systems arranged in a maximum deflection area of each of the shutters. The pivot systems comprise a pivot shaft support which connects the shutter to the pivot axis of the shutter, the pivot shaft pivoting about the pivot axis of the shutter.

[0022] Such a support part has a significant length depending on the deflection in the area where the pivot connection is located so that the pivot shaft is located on the pivot axis of the shutter.

[0023] These shutter devices pose problems of interference of the shutters and the support parts in the open position of the shutters but also when changing position between the open position and the shutter position. Indeed, when the shutters are in the open position, the part of the shutter furthest from the pivot axis (maximum deflection), i.e. generally the central area of the shutter, is likely to interfere with the shaft support part of an adjacent shutter. As a result, some shutters cannot open completely, in other words reach their open position.

[0024] Since the guide system is more compact than the pivot system with a shaft support part, the dimensions of the parts of the guide system arranged between the flaps are reduced and therefore prevent interference of the flaps with each other compared to a pivot connection around a pivot shaft which must be located on the pivot axis. Thus, the flaps can reach their open position.

[0025] According to one embodiment, the ventilation device further comprises the features of one or more of claims 2 to 8.

[0026] Other aspects and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description, given by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings, among which: [ Fig 1 ] there figure 1 is a front view of a part of the ventilation device according to the invention, [ Fig 2 ] there figure 2is a perspective and schematic representation of the ventilation device in an open position according to a first embodiment, [ Fig 3 ] there figure 3 is a representation of the ventilation device of the figure 2 in a closed position, [ Fig 4 ] there figure 4 is a detail view of a guidance system of the ventilation device of the figures 1 to 3 . [ Fig 5 ] there Figure 5 is a perspective and schematic representation of the ventilation device in an open position according to a second embodiment, and [ Fig 6 ] there figure 6 is a detailed perspective view of a shutter guide system of the ventilation arrangement of the Figure 5 .

[0027] THE figures 1 to 4 represent a first embodiment of the ventilation device 8 according to the invention.

[0028] The ventilation device 8 is for example intended to be part of a grille of a vehicle to admit outside air to cool a cooling device of the vehicle through an air inlet opening.

[0029] The goal is to combine aerodynamic performance when the vent is closed and engine temperature management by opening the vent according to the cooling needs of the engine or any other system requiring thermal management.

[0030] A first direction, X, is defined. In this example, the first direction is parallel to a front-rear axis of the vehicle. The first direction is denoted "first direction X".

[0031] In this description, a second direction parallel to the axles of the vehicle is also defined. The second direction is denoted "second Y direction" and thus corresponds to the width of the vehicle.

[0032] Finally, a third direction is also defined, perpendicular to the first X direction and the second Y direction. In this example, the third direction corresponds to the height of the vehicle. The third direction is noted as "third Z direction".

[0033] The ventilation device 8 comprises a sealing system 10 and a frame 12.

[0034] Frame 12 defines air inlet opening 11 into the vehicle.

[0035] According to one embodiment, the frame 12 is formed by the bumper.

[0036] Thus, the opening 11 is for example formed in a bumper skin of the vehicle.

[0037] Alternatively, the frame 12 is formed by a module of the vehicle and / or by a part intended to be mounted on the vehicle.

[0038] The closure device 10 comprises at least one closure flap 14 and for each closure flap 14, a guidance system 16 for the closure flap. In the remainder of the description, the closure flap 14 may be referred to as “flap 14”.

[0039] The shutter device 10 has an open position (visible on the figures 1 And 2 ) in which the opening 11 is at least partly open such that an air flow can circulate through the opening 11, for example in the first direction X when the closing device 10 is mounted on the vehicle, and a closing position (visible on the figure 3 ) in which the closing device 10 at least partially closes the opening 11.

[0040] An air passage surface is defined through the ventilation device 8 delimited between the frame 12 and the closure device 10. When the closure device 10 is in the closure position, the air passage surface is less than the air passage surface when the closure device 10 is in the open position.

[0041] According to one embodiment, the airflow is completely interrupted when the shutter device is in the shutter position.

[0042] In the present exemplary embodiment, the closure device 10 comprises a plurality of closure flaps 14.

[0043] For example, the shutter device 10 comprises a number of shutters between 2 and 20.

[0044] Each shutter 14 has a general direction parallel to the second direction Y.

[0045] Each shutter 14 has a first end 14A and a second end 14B extending along the second direction Y.

[0046] The shutters 14 extend in the second direction Y in the opening 11. The shutters 14 are then arranged one above the other in the third direction Z.

[0047] Each shutter 14 is movable between an open position when the shutter device 10 is in the open position and a shutter position when the shutter device 10 is in the shutter position. The shutters 14 are rotatable between the open position and the shutter position about a pivot axis P.

[0048] The pivot axis P of each flap 14 is, in this example, substantially parallel to the second direction Y.

[0049] Alternatively, the pivot axis P of at least one flap 14 forms a non-zero angle with the second direction Y, the first direction X and / or the third direction Z.

[0050] A rotation angle of the shutters 14 is defined between the open position and the shutter position around the pivot axis P.

[0051] For example, the rotation angle is approximately equal to 90°.

[0052] In the closed position, a face 14C of the flaps 14 is oriented against the direction of the air flow. This advantageously makes it possible to improve the drag coefficient Cx of the vehicle in the closed position.

[0053] Furthermore, in the closed position, the set of flaps 14 defines an outer surface 18 of the closing device 10, also called the “outer skin”. The outer skin extends, for example, in continuity with the outer surface of the part of the vehicle on which the closing device 10 is mounted so as to provide a satisfactory aesthetic appearance for the closing device 10 and its environment.

[0054] The term “exterior part” is understood to mean a part of the ventilation device 10 facing the exterior of the vehicle as opposed to an “interior part” which is a part of the closure device 10 facing towards the interior of the vehicle.

[0055] Each shutter 14 is, in the present example, in a single part.

[0056] Alternatively, each shutter 14 may comprise several parts, for example two parts or three parts.

[0057] In the case where the shutters 14 comprise more than one part, the different parts of the shutter 14 extend in continuity with one another in the second direction Y and the different parts of the shutter 14 are integral in movement, that is to say they move together between the open position and the closed position.

[0058] For example, the flaps 14 are made of a polymer.

[0059] Alternatively, the shutters 14 are made of metal.

[0060] According to the embodiment shown in the figures and as more particularly visible in the figures 1 to 3 , the shutters 14 have a curved shape.

[0061] More specifically, in section, in a cutting plane normal to the second direction Y when the shutters 14 are in the open position, the shutters 14 have a curved shape. For example, the shutters 14 have the shape of an arc or even a concave shape.

[0062] Furthermore, as visible on the figure 1 , the shutter flaps 14 have, for example, in section, in a cutting plane normal to the first direction X when the flaps 14 are in the open position, a curved shape. For example, the flaps 14 have an arc shape or even a concave shape. In other words, the flaps 14 are curved in the second direction Y. Thus, in the present exemplary embodiment, from one end to the other end of each flap 14 in the second direction Y when this flap 14 is in the open position, this flap 14 has a curved shape.

[0063] Each flap 14 has a maximum arrow zone 20.

[0064] The arrow F of the flap 14 is the distance between the pivot axis P of the flap 14 and a face of the flap 14. The arrow F is shown on the figure 1 .

[0065] The maximum deflection zone 20 corresponds to the zone of the shutter 14 where a tangent to the shutter 14 passes parallel to the pivot axis P of the shutter 14.

[0066] For each shutter 14, the maximum deflection zone 20 comprises the maximum deflection F of the shutter 14 and is located, for example, in a central portion of the shutter 14.

[0067] For example, the maximum deflection F is between 150 millimeters (mm) and 200 mm.

[0068] Furthermore, for example, the radius of curvature of the shutter 14 is between three meters and four meters. As a particular example, the shutters 14 have a radius of curvature equal to four meters.

[0069] In this application if a quantity is between values A and B, this means that the quantity is greater than or equal to A and less than or equal to B.

[0070] Furthermore, the 14 shutters are large shutters.

[0071] A large shutter is a shutter whose length is greater than or equal to 350mm. The length of the shutter is understood to be a dimension of the shutter 14 measured between its two ends 14A, 14B along the second direction Y.

[0072] More generally, in the present description, the length of a given element is the dimension of this given element measured along the second direction Y.

[0073] For example, shutters have a length greater than or equal to 450 mm.

[0074] A large shutter may also be a shutter whose width is greater than or equal to 50 mm while having a length greater than 450 mm for example. The width of the shutter 14 is understood to be a dimension of the shutter 14 measured between an inner edge of the shutter 14 and an outer edge of the shutter 14 when the shutters 14 are in the open position.

[0075] For illustration purposes, the length of the shutter 14 is between 900 mm and 1100 mm.

[0076] In the present embodiment, all the shutters 14 have the same length.

[0077] Each shutter 14 is pivotally mounted on the frame 12 at each of its ends 14A, 14B along the pivot axis P.

[0078] For example, the shutter 14 is pivotally mounted on the frame 12 by means of a pivot connection 22.

[0079] For example, the flaps 14 are linked in rotation.

[0080] For example, pivoting one flap 14 causes the other flaps 14 to rotate.

[0081] For example, flaps 14 are piloted flaps.

[0082] For example, the shutter device 10 comprises a control module (not shown) for the shutters 14 intended to control the pivoting of the shutters 14 along the pivot axis P and, in particular, the pivot links 22. The guidance system 16 is arranged between the two ends 14A, 14B of each shutter shutter 14.

[0083] The guide system 16 is arranged between the two ends 14A, 14B of each of the shutters 14.

[0084] The guide system 16 comprises, for each shutter 14, a guide groove 24 and a pin 26 moving in the guide groove 24 when the shutter 14 moves between the open position and the shutter position. The guide system 16 further comprises a support 28.

[0085] The support 28 is for example fixed to the frame 12 at each of its ends.

[0086] Alternatively, the support 28 is fixed to an additional part separate from the frame 12.

[0087] The pin 26 is fixed to the shutter 14, and the guide groove 24 is provided in the support 28, respectively in a part fixed to the shutter 14.

[0088] The support 28 extends in the first direction X and in the third direction Z.

[0089] More precisely, the support 28 comprises an arm 30 extending in the third direction Z and, for each flap 14, a branch 32 extending projecting from the support 28 towards the outside of the vehicle along the first direction X.

[0090] The arm 30 is, for example, fixed by its ends to the frame 12.

[0091] For example, branch 32 came from the same material as arm 30.

[0092] In the present example of the guide system 16, for each shutter 14, the guide groove 24 is provided in the support 28, for example in a respective branch 32.

[0093] The guide groove 24 forms a through hole, for example in the second direction Y.

[0094] The guide groove 24 has a guide surface 24A on which the pin 26 slides when the flap 14 moves.

[0095] In section in a plane normal to the second direction Y, the guide groove 24 has a curved shape.

[0096] The curved shape is for example concave, the concavity being turned towards the interior of the vehicle.

[0097] For example, the guide groove 24 has the shape of an arc of a circle.

[0098] The curvature of the guide groove 24 is, for example, a function of the curvature of the shutter 14.

[0099] The guide groove 24 defines an opening stop 24B and a closing stop 24C of the closing flap 14. The pin 26 is arranged against the opening stop when the flap 14 is in the open position and the pin 26 is arranged against the closing stop when the flap 14 is in the closing position.

[0100] The position of the opening stop 24B and / or the position of the closing stop 24C depend on at least one parameter selected from the list comprising the desired angle of rotation of the shutter 14, the deflection of the closing shutter 14, the position of the shutter 14 in the first direction X, the position of the shutter 14 in the third direction Z, the position of the support 28 in the second direction Y, the position of the guide groove 24 in the second direction Y, the desired shape of the outer skin, the width of the closing shutter 14.

[0101] In particular, a length of the guide groove 24 is defined as the length of the guide surface 24A.

[0102] The length of the groove 24 depends on at least one parameter included in the list comprising the angle of rotation of the flap 14, the deflection of the flap 14, the length of the shutter flap 14, the position of the pin 26 sliding in the guide groove 24, the position of the guide groove 24 in the second direction Y.

[0103] For example, the pin 26 is fixed between two fixing lugs 34 projecting from one face of the flap 14 and extending opposite the guide groove 24.

[0104] In the present example, the pin 26 comprises two parts facing each other in the second direction Y.

[0105] Alternatively, pawn 26 is made of a single piece.

[0106] Alternatively, the pin 26 is formed in one piece with the flap 14.

[0107] As a further variation, pawn 26 is reported on panel 14.

[0108] The pin 26 extends along the second direction Y in the guide groove 24 and passes through the guide groove 24. In other words, the pin 26 extends along a direction parallel to the pivot axis P.

[0109] The pin 26 is configured to slide in the guide groove 24.

[0110] As visible on the figures 1 to 3 , the closure device 10 comprises support legs 27 of additional pivot connections (not shown) arranged on either side of the guide system 16.

[0111] Thus, in this case, the additional pivot connections are arranged between each end 14A, 14B of the flap 14 and the guidance system 16, in an area of the flap 14 having a deflection less than the deflection of the part of the flap 14 located in the maximum deflection area 20.

[0112] Such additional pivot connections make it possible to accompany the movement of the shutter 14 between the open and closed positions and to avoid any blocking of this movement which could, for example, occur in the event of the shutter twisting on itself.

[0113] Thus, the additional pivot links make it possible to improve the rotation of the shutters 14.

[0114] In addition, the additional pivot links help to maintain the shutters 14 in position against aerodynamic forces.

[0115] The additional pivot connections are therefore particularly advantageous for a 14 shutter of significant length.

[0116] In operation, when the shutter device 10 is in the shutter position, the control module controls the movement of the shutters 14 so that they pivot into their open position.

[0117] When moving from the closed position to the open position, the pin 26 in abutment against the closing stop 24C slides in the guide groove 24 along the guide surface 24A until it reaches the opening stop 24B.

[0118] Conversely, when moving from the open position to the closed position, the pin 26 in abutment against the opening stop 24B slides in the guide groove 24 along the guide surface 24A until it reaches the closing stop 24C.

[0119] Thus, the shutter 14 causes the movement of the pin 26 in the guide groove 24 of the guide system 16. The pivoting of the shutter 14 therefore implements the guide system 16, namely the movement of the pin 26 in the guide groove 24.

[0120] Thus, the guidance system 16 of the shutter system 10 is adapted to be implemented once the shutter flaps 14 pivot or, in other words, during the pivoting of the flaps 14.

[0121] Alternatively, the length of at least two flaps 14 is different and / or the curvature of at least two flaps 14 is different.

[0122] The position of the curvature zone 20 of the flaps 14 can also vary.

[0123] For example, the position can be defined by spatial coordinates x, y, z varying respectively along the axes X, Y, Z in a reference frame O, X, Y, Z whose center O is located on one end of the support 28.

[0124] As a further variant, the position of the guide grooves 24 and the pins 26 may vary from one flap 14 to another.

[0125] Alternatively, the position of the opening stop 24B and the closing stop 24C may vary from one closing flap 14 to another.

[0126] According to a particular embodiment of the ventilation device 8, the branches 32 each have a portion of weakened material. The weakened portion is fusible in the event of impact with a pedestrian.

[0127] Alternatively or additionally, the shutters 14 have a material weakening portion. The weakening portion is fusible in the event of impact with a pedestrian.

[0128] The ventilation device 8 is improved over known ventilation devices.

[0129] In fact, the guidance system 16 forms an additional support point for the shutters 14 which contributes to stiffening the entire closure device 10.

[0130] The additional support point is particularly advantageous in the face of aerodynamic forces.

[0131] In particular, the additional support point provides support in the X direction to limit the deformation of the flaps subjected to aerodynamic forces.

[0132] In addition, the additional support point is also particularly advantageous in the face of indentation efforts made by car manufacturers.

[0133] Thus, the additional support point provided by the guidance system 16 between the ends 14A, 14B of the flaps 14 offers a kinematics different from the pivot connections 22 and makes it possible to secure the kinematics of the flaps 14.

[0134] Furthermore, the guidance system 16 makes it possible to reduce the size in the first direction X at the rear of the flaps 14.

[0135] As a result, the shutter device 10 prevents the movement of the shutters from being blocked when the shutters 14 are large. Thus, the shutter device 10 secures the movement of the shutters 14.

[0136] The shutter device 10 is particularly suitable for large shutters 14.

[0137] Furthermore, the shutter device 10 is particularly suitable for curved or, in other words, curved shutter flaps 14 because the guide system 16 makes it possible to avoid interference between pivot shaft supports and the flaps 14 as was the case in the prior art.

[0138] In fact, the closing device 10 allows the replacement of the pivot shaft supports in the central zone of the flaps 14 which must have a significant length depending on the deflection in the central zone.

[0139] However, as indicated previously, interference may occur between the flaps 14 and these offset shaft supports in the maximum deflection zone 20 of the flaps 14.

[0140] Thus, the guide system 16 is more compact than pivot systems comprising a pivot shaft support and the parts of the guide system 16 arranged between two adjacent flaps 14 are reduced compared to the additional pivot systems of the ventilation devices 10 of the state of the art.

[0141] Thus, the shutter device 10 allows the complete rotation of the shutter flaps 14 without interference of pivot shaft supports and the flaps 14 between them. In fact, the performance of the shutter device 10 is improved.

[0142] Furthermore, the closure device 10 according to the invention is particularly compact and simpler to manufacture. Indeed, a single closure device 10 according to the invention is sufficient, in particular when it is integrated into the grille of the vehicle.

[0143] Furthermore, the closing device 10 is adaptable according to the style of the vehicle and in particular according to the desired appearance of the exterior skin 18.

[0144] Another embodiment of the ventilation device is shown in figures 5 And 6 .

[0145] Only the differences in embodiment compared to the embodiment of the figures 1 to 4 are described.

[0146] Furthermore, the same advantages as those presented with reference to the embodiment of the figures 1 to 4 apply to this embodiment.

[0147] The ventilation device 35 differs from the device of the figures 1 to 4 in that it comprises a shutter device 36 with a different guidance system 37.

[0148] Pawn 38 has the shape of a mushroom or the shape of a “T”.

[0149] The pin 38 generally extends along the first direction X, that is to say substantially perpendicular to the pivot axis P.

[0150] The pin 38 has a head 38A and a body 38B integral with the head 38A.

[0151] The head 38A of the pin 38 is in contact with the guide surface 40A of the guide groove 40. The body 38B of the pin 38 is fixed to the shutter 14.

[0152] In this example, the length of the head 38A is greater than the length of the body 38B.

[0153] The head 38A and the body 38B are connected to each other by a shoulder.

[0154] In reference to the Figure 5 , for each flap 14, the branch 32 delimits the guide groove 40. The guide groove 40 is made in a thickness of the branch 32. The guide groove 40 comprises two walls substantially parallel to each other and substantially normal to the second direction Y.

[0155] The shape of the groove 40 is adapted to the shape of the pin 38.

[0156] In particular, the guide groove 40 has a first portion 42 intended to receive the head 38A of the pin 38 and a second portion 44 opposite the body 38B of the pin 38.

[0157] The first portion 42 has a greater length than the length of the second portion 44.

[0158] A shoulder of the guide groove 40 connects the lower portion to the upper portion of the guide groove 40.

[0159] The shoulder of the guide groove 40 makes it possible to keep the pin 38 housed in the guide groove 40.

[0160] As in the embodiment described with reference to figures 1 to 4 , the guide surface 40A has an opening stop and a closing stop (not visible in the figures)

[0161] The mushroom or “T” shape of the pin 38 with the guide groove 40 adapted to the mushroom or “T” shape makes it possible to reduce the possibilities of movement of the shutter flaps 14 in the second direction Y and to improve the management of the clearances and flushness of the parts of the shutter device 36.

[0162] Furthermore, the mushroom or “T” shape provides a large bearing surface for the pin 38 in the guide groove 40 perpendicular to the air flow when the shutters 14 are closed.

[0163] The closure devices according to the invention then make it possible to reduce the space requirement in the central zone compared to a conventional device with a pivot shaft.

[0164] The shutter devices make it possible to move the shutters 14 in a direction combining the first and third directions X, Z thanks to the guidance system, avoiding the risks of interference between the shutters 14 and pivot shaft supports as was the case in the prior art.

[0165] In particular, the fact of being able to move the flaps 14 in a direction combining the first and third directions X, Z by means of the pin and the guide groove makes it possible, when the flaps 14 are in the closed position, to obtain perfect continuity between the environment of the flaps (the bumper skin for example) and the flaps 14. Thus, the flaps 14 in the closed position are flush with the environment of the flaps 14.

[0166] In particular, in the closed position, the guidance system provides an additional support point for the flaps in order to limit the deformations of the flaps 14 under aerodynamic forces.

[0167] Furthermore, the fact of being able to move the flaps in a direction combining the first direction X and third direction Z by means of the pin and the guide groove allows, when the flaps are in the open position and according to the first, second and / or third directions X, Y, Z of the pivot axis P, that the visible edges of the flaps 14 are aligned with the environment of the flaps 14 (bumper skin for example).

[0168] Alternatively, the flaps 14 may not be aligned with the surroundings of the flaps 14

[0169] Thus, the invention makes it possible to position the pivot axis P in a personalized manner on a vehicle while reducing the risks of interference between the flaps 14.

[0170] Thus, the ventilation device according to the invention is adaptable to all types of vehicles.
