An input device (100, 200, 500) comprising: a circuit board (120); a switch connector (122) fixedly mounted to the circuit board (120), the switch connector (122) having a plurality of electrical terminals (124); a switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) magnetically coupled to the switch connector (122) in a removable manner, the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) comprising a switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) to interface with the switch connector (122), the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) having a plurality of contact elements (144) in engagement with the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122), and an arrangement of electrical elements (360, 460) connected to the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b), and a switch (248, 248a, 248b) fitted to the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) with a plurality of leads (349) of the switch (248, 248a, 248b) engaged to the arrangement of electrical elements (360, 460) so as to electrically connect the plurality of leads (349) of the switch (248, 248a, 248b) to the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b), wherein the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) is magnetically coupled to the switch connector (122) with the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) between the switch connector (122) and the switch (248, 248a, 248b), wherein the switch (248) is a mechanical switch (248a) or an optical switch (248b), wherein, when the switch (248) is a mechanical switch (248a), the arrangement of electrical elements (360) of the switch adapter (242, 242a) comprises spaced apart conductive stripes (362) extending within the switch adapter (242, 242a) in a perpendicular direction from the switch connector (122) to the mechanical switch (248a), wherein, when the switch (248) is an optical switch (248b), the arrangement of electrical elements (460) of the switch adapter (242, 242b, 542b) comprises an intervening circuitry (462) disposed in the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b); and a magnetic catch arrangement (150) to magnetically couple the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) to the switch connector (122), the magnetic catch arrangement comprises a first catch unit (152) coupled to the circuit board (120) and a second catch unit (154) coupled to the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b), wherein the first catch unit (152) and the second catch unit (154) comprises a pair of coacting magnet elements or a coacting pair of a magnetic metal element and a magnet element such that the first catch unit (152) and the second catch unit (154) coact with each other to magnetically couple the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) and the switch connector (122).

2. The input device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122) comprises a pogo pin or a spring-loaded pin.

The input device as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein, when the switch (248) is the mechanical switch (248a), each of the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a) is a first end portion of each of the conductive stripes (362) directed towards the switch connector (122), wherein each of the conductive stripes (362) is bent at a second end portion thereof so as to engage with a corresponding lead of the plurality of leads (349) of the mechanical switch (248a).

The input device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein, when the switch (248) is the mechanical switch (248a), the switch adapter (242, 242a) comprises an insulation shim plate (347) with a plurality of holes (347a), the insulation shim plate (347) being on a side of the switch adapter (242, 242a) opposite the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter, wherein the mechanical switch (248a) is fitted to the switch adapter (242, 242a) in a manners so as to be abutting the insulation shim plate (347) and with the plurality of leads (349) of the mechanical switch (248a) respectively inserted through the plurality of holes (347a) of the insulation shim plate (347) to respectively engage with the conductive stripes (362).

The input device as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein, when the switch (248) is the optical switch (248b), the intervening circuitry (462) comprises the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242b, 542b) and one or more connection points (441) to connect to the optical switch (248b).

The input device as claimed in claim 5, wherein the intervening circuitry (462) comprises a printed circuit board assembly having a first printed circuit board (462a) and a second printed circuit board (462b) in a dual layer arrangement and interconnected to each other, wherein the first printed circuit board (462a) has the plurality of contact elements (144) and the second printed circuit board (462b) has the one or more connection points (441), wherein the first printed circuit board (462a) and the second printed circuit board (462b) are arranged in a manner such that the plurality of contact elements (144) and the one or more connection points (441) are directed away from each other, wherein the switch adapter (242, 242b, 542b) comprises one or more plastic pins (470) to hold apart the first printed circuit board (462a) and the second printed circuit board (462b).

7. The input device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the switch assembly (140, 140b, 540b) is magnetically coupled to the switch connector (122) with the plurality of contact elements (144) of the first printed circuit board (462a) of the switch adapter (242, 242b, 542b) in contact with the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122), and the optical switch (248b) abutting the second printed circuit board (462b) of the switch adapter (242, 242b, 542b).

8. The input device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the first catch unit (152) comprises one or more catch elements and the second catch unit (154) comprises one or more corresponding catch elements.

The input device as claimed in claim 8, wherein the first catch unit (152) comprises one elongated catch element (554a) coupled to the circuit board (120) and the second catch unit (154) comprise one corresponding elongated catch element (552a) coupled to the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b), wherein the elongated catch element (554a) of the first catch unit (152) of the circuit board (120) is aligned to the corresponding elongated catch element (552a) of the second catch unit (154) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) in a manner so as to align the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) to the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122) when the elongated catch element (554a) of the circuit board (120) and the corresponding elongated catch element (552a) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) coact to magnetically couples the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) and the switch connector (122), or wherein the first catch unit (152) comprises two or more catch elements (352a, 352b, 452a, 452b) coupled to the circuit board (120) and the second catch unit (154) comprises two or more corresponding catch elements (354a, 354b, 454a, 454b) coupled to the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b), wherein the two or more catch elements of the first catch unit (152) of the circuit board (120) are lined with respect to the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122) and the two or more corresponding catch elements of the second catch unit (154) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) are aligned to the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) in a manner so as to align the plurality of contact elements (144) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) to the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122) when the two or more catch elements of the first catch unit (152) of the circuit board (120) and the two or more corresponding catch elements of the second catch unit (154) of the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) coact to magnetically couple the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) and the switch connector (122).

The input device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) of the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) comprises alignment structures (580) for aligning the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) of the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) to the switch connector (122) during assembling, wherein the alignment structures (580) comprises two or more alignment pins for aligning with corresponding recesses or enclosure wall structures for surrounding the switch connector (122).

The input device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the circuit board (120) has a planar surface (121), wherein the plurality of electrical terminals (124) of the switch connector (122) is directed perpendicularly away from the planar surface (121) of the circuit board (120), wherein the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) is magnetically coupled to the switch connector (122) in a manner so as to be removably stacked onto the switch connector (122) in a direction perpendicular to the planar surface (121) of the circuit board (120), wherein the switch adapter (242, 242a, 242b, 542b) of the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) is between the switch connector (122) and the switch (248, 248a, 248b) of the switch assembly (140, 140a, 140b, 540b) along the direction perpendicular to the planar surface (121) of the circuit board (120).
