Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to the field of lighting systems and in particular to lighting systems intended, for example, to equip motor vehicles.
[0002] A lighting system usually includes a light source working with an optical device which may include, for example, an optical device acting as a reflector, mirror and / or a set of lenses to distribute the light from the light source into the lighting system.
[0003] In these conditions, it is necessary to position the light source precisely in relation to the optical references of the optical system so that the light beam is directed appropriately towards the outside of the lighting system.
[0004] This requirement for geometric precision has increased with the use of light sources such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and more specifically with high-power laser diodes that concentrate light emission onto a very small, precise point. These diodes are mounted on a module, which acts as a heat sink and also serves as a support for the electrical components that power the diode.
[0005] Therefore, there is a need to have a means of connection allowing this module to be coupled with the optical device so that the light source is positioned at a predefined point in the geometric coordinate system of the optical device, and that the light rays emitted by the light source are oriented at precise angles in this coordinate system.
[0006] Publication DE 10 2010 048 594 describes, as an example, a coupling device for a light source mounted on a module mounted on a heat sink, which is coupled to an optical device acting as the optical system. The heat sink has a housing with reference faces against which the module is pressed using elastic means such as springs. This device achieves the objectives described above but requires a large number of parts and as many springs as there are reference axes, making its construction and assembly complex. DE 10 2010 048594 A1, US 2011 / 051448 A1, and US 2007 / 171667 A1 describe known devices.
[0007] The invention therefore relates to a lighting device according to claim 1, in particular for lighting and / or signaling, for vehicles, comprising a light source disposed on a module assembled on an optical device.
[0008] The optical device and the module include primary reference means comprising: at least one slide mounted on the optical device, said slide comprising an inner reference face positioned opposite an inner guide face, and at least one extension extending from the module, said extension comprising a reference support face, opposite a contact face, said contact face having at least one point of contact, The contact face is arranged so that, once the extension is inserted into the slide in a specific direction, the contact face bears against the inner guide face at the contact points, and locally, at the point of contact, the slide and / or the extension deform elastically. The high-power diode, which can act as a heat sink, is mounted on the module, and the assembly is then directly mounted onto the optical device by inserting the extensions into the slides. The geometric position of the module relative to the optical device is then ensured by pressing the module's reference bearing face against the reference inner face of the slide that forms part of the optical device.
[0009] The protrusion, due to its very small bearing surface, facilitates its own deformation and that of the slide's guide face on which it rests, all with limited force, thus reducing the risk of breakage. The deformation of the protrusion / slide guide face system compensates for the mechanical tolerances of the various components, allowing for a precise adjustment, independent of manufacturing tolerances, of the slide's inner reference face against the extension's reference face.
[0010] The protrusions, which act somewhat like mechanical grooves, thus allow these reference faces to be supported without creating false contacts linked to irregularities in the flatness of the sliding face or irregularities in the shape of the extension.
[0011] According to the invention, the lighting device comprises the following characteristics: The contact points are arranged on several protrusions extending from the contact face. The inner reference face and the inner guide face of the slide form a given angle with each other about an axis parallel to the inner reference face and the inner guide face of the slide, and substantially perpendicular to the direction of insertion of the extension into the slide. The contact face includes at least one first and one second contact point, the first contact point being arranged before the second contact point on the contact face along the insertion direction. The contact points lie in an alignment plane forming an angle with the reference support face about an axis parallel to the reference support face and the alignment plane, and substantially perpendicular to the direction of insertion of the extension into the slide. The alignment plane and the reference support face form an angle approximately equal to the angle formed by the inner reference face and the inner guide face of the slide. The module comprises two extensions extending laterally on either side of said module, and which are inserted into two slides arranged opposite each other on the optical device. The angle formed by the inner reference face and the inner guide face of the slide is between 1° and 10°, and preferably between 2° and 6°.
[0012] The lighting system according to the invention may also include, individually or in combination, the following features: The extension has a different thickness at each point of contact, this thickness being measured perpendicular to the reference bearing face between said point of contact and the reference bearing face, the thickness of the extension at the first point of contact being less than the thickness of the extension at the second point of contact. At least one protrusion has a substantially hemispherical shape, such that said protrusion rests on the inner guide face of the slide by a quasi-point contact. At least one protrusion has a cylindrical shape, such that said protrusion rests on the inner guide face of the slide by a quasi-linear contact. The lighting device includes secondary reference means carried by the module and the optical device, enabling the module's movement relative to the optical device to be blocked along the insertion direction. These means comprise a second reference face against which a second reference element abuts when the module extension is inserted into the slide. The second reference face is substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction (OX). The second reference face is formed by an inner face of the slide, and the second reference element is formed by a leading edge of the extension. The second reference face is formed by a face located on a projection of the optical device, and the second reference element is formed by a face of a module positioning wall that is substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction. The lighting device includes third reference means carried by the module and the optical device, enabling the module's movement relative to the optical device to be blocked along a direction parallel to the inner reference face and the inner guide face of the slide, and substantially perpendicular to the direction of insertion of the extension into the slide. The third reference means are formed by guiding means for the optical device and by a guide orifice for the module. The optical device is made of a thermosetting or thermoplastic material, injection molded. The module is made by cutting and bending a metal plate, and the protrusions are obtained by stamping. The light source is a semiconductor emitting chip, preferably a light-emitting diode, more particularly a laser diode. The module supporting the light source acts as a heat sink designed to dissipate the thermal energy produced by the light source.
[0013] The present invention also relates to a lighting device according to claim 1, in particular for lighting and / or signaling, for a vehicle, comprising a light source disposed on a module (3) assembled on an optical device. The module includes a guide hole for assembling the module to the device and a mounting hole for attaching the module to the device, the mounting hole and the guide hole being arranged in a first pair of respective positions on the module when the optical device is intended to perform a first photometric function, and the mounting hole and the guide hole being arranged in a second pair of respective positions on the module when the optical device is intended to perform a second photometric function.
[0014] The lighting system according to the invention may also include, individually or in combination, the following features: The optical device is arranged to perform a single photometric function chosen from the first and second photometric functions. The first photometric function is a low beam lighting function, and the second photometric function is a high beam lighting function. The mounting hole is positioned in a first position on the module, and the guide hole is positioned in a second position on the module when the optical device is intended to perform the first photometric function. The mounting hole is positioned in the second position on the module, and the guide hole is positioned in the first position on the module when the optical device is intended to perform the second photometric function. The optical device comprises a guide means for cooperating with the guide hole for assembling the module to the device, and a mounting hole for cooperating with the module mounting hole and a mounting means for attaching the module to the device. The device mounting hole and the guide means are arranged in a first pair of respective positions on the optical device when the optical device is intended to perform a first photometric function, and the device mounting hole and the guide means are arranged in a second pair of respective positions on the optical device when the optical device is intended to perform a second photometric function. The guide hole is an oblong hole in which the guide means is a guide tab. The guide tab has a circular cross-section.The module mounting hole is a cruciform or round hole, and the device mounting hole is a circular hole.
[0015] The invention will be better understood upon reading the accompanying figures, which are provided by way of example to support the description that follows, and which are not intended to be limiting, in which: There figure 1 represents a perspective view of a lighting system according to the invention, after assembly. figure 2 represents an optical device. The figure 3 represents a perspective view of a module according to the invention in a first orientation of the axial coordinate system; The figure 4 represents the same module according to a second orientation of the axial coordinate system. figure 5 represents a cross-sectional view of a slide according to the invention; The figure 6 represents a cross-sectional view of an extension according to the invention. figure 7 represents a cross-sectional view of the slide into which the extension has been inserted; The figure 8 represents a perspective view of the rear of an optical device according to the invention; The figure 9 represents a perspective view of the rear portion of the module. figure 10 represents a perspective view of the rear of a lighting system according to the invention after assembly.
[0016] There figure 1 represents a lighting system 1 comprising an optical device 2 on which a module 3 supporting a light-emitting diode is directly mounted. The module 3 is mounted on the optical device 2 by means of two slides 21, which are an integral part of the optical device 2, and into which extensions 31, which are part of the module 3, are inserted.
[0017] Module 3, which supports the diode, can also act as a heat sink and heat dissipator, dissipating the heat generated by the diode. The module is preferably made from a metal plate that is cut, stamped, and bent into the desired shape.
[0018] The optical device 2 is usually made by injecting a thermosetting material or a plastic material, preferably thermoplastic, on which treatments are carried out to create surfaces acting as a mirror 28. The slides 21 are formed from the material with the optical device 2 and are therefore precisely positioned in the frame of the optical device 2. An orthonormal frame OXYZ, corresponding to the frame of the optical device 2, makes it possible to precisely define the position in space of the characteristic points of this optical device such as the position of the generally parabolic mirror surface 28, or the focal points, etc.
[0019] The light source placed on the module must therefore be positioned precisely within this coordinate system to optimize the operation of the lighting system. The ideal position of the light source has been placed at the geometric center O of the orthonormal coordinate system.
[0020] There figure 2 represents the optical device 2 before assembly in which the slides 21 intended to receive the extensions 31 are clear.
[0021] THE figures 3 et 4 represent perspective views of module 3 before mounting on optical device 2, according to two different positioning of the axial reference frame o'x'y'z' which is centered on the high power diode 4. Module 3 includes two extensions 31 arranged laterally on either side of the module.
[0022] Each extension 31 has a reference support face 32 and a contact face 33, opposite the reference support face and supporting contact points P, represented here by protrusions 34 projecting out from the contact face 33 of the extension.
[0023] After assembly, the axes of the OXYZ and o'x'y'z' reference frames must therefore coincide very precisely so that the center of the diode 4 is placed very precisely at the geometric point O forming the center of the optical device 2. The OX axis here represents the general direction of introduction of the extensions 31 into the slides 21.
[0024] THE figures 5, 6 et 7 The following allow us to visualize in detail the shape of the extension 31 and the slide 21 which form the first reference means.
[0025] To the figure 5 A slide 21 according to the invention is shown. The slide 21 comprises a reference inner face 22 and, positioned opposite said reference inner face, a guide inner face 24. According to the invention, these two faces form a given angle "a" with each other around the axis OY, which is an axis parallel to the two faces 32 and 33 and perpendicular to the axis OX, representing the general direction of introduction of the module into the slides 21 of the optical device 2. This angle "a" is between 1° and 10°, and preferably between 2° and 6°. Good experimental results have been obtained with an angle of 3°. This angular value, conventionally called the clearance angle, allows, among other things, easier demolding of the optical device 2.
[0026] The section of extension 31 shown in the figure 6 , illustrates the case of an extension 31 whose contact face 33 includes at least first and second contact points, the first contact point P1 being positioned before the second contact point P2 on the contact face along the insertion direction (o'x'). These first and second contact points are formed, in the case of the figure 6 , by two protuberances 34 offset from each other along the direction of the o'x' axis
[0027] There figure 7 represents the extension 31, once it has been inserted into the slide 21. The reference bearing face 32 of the extension 31 is in perfect contact with the reference inner face 22 of the slide. The protrusions 34 bear against the inner guide face 24 via the contact points P.
[0028] The protrusion may be hemispherical; in which case, the contact between the protrusion and the inner guide face 24 is almost a point contact. Protrusions can also be made with a substantially cylindrical shape, the generatrices of which are oriented in the o'y' direction perpendicular to the insertion direction o'x'; in this case, the contacts between the protrusion and the inner guide face 24 of the slide are established along a ridge line, forming an almost linear contact. These shapes have the advantage of being easily produced by stamping the extensions 31 when the module is made from a sheet of metal, but they are not exhaustive.
[0029] To obtain the wedge effect mentioned previously, we arrange for the extension 31 to have a different thickness e at each contact point P, this thickness being measured normally to the reference support face 32, between said contact point P and the reference support face 32. The thickness e 1 of the extension 31 at the first contact point P 1 is less than the thickness e 2 of the extension at the second contact point P 2.
[0030] We also arrange for the contact points P to be contained within an alignment plane L, represented by a dashed line in the figure 6 and that this alignment plane L forms a given angle with the plane of the reference support face 32 of the extension. This angle is substantially equal to the angle "a" formed between them by the reference inner face 22 and the guide inner face 24 of the slide 21.
[0031] The protrusions 34 are designed to force the reference bearing face 32 of the extension 31 to bear against the reference inner face 22 of the slide, compensating for irregularities in the shape of the inner sliding face 24 and the contact face 33 of the extension. Their number is therefore not limited.
[0032] Indeed, once the two reference faces 22 and 32 are in contact, the module's movements along the OZ axis and around the OX and OY axes are theoretically blocked. An extension with a single protrusion can therefore fulfill this role. The presence of two protrusions of a roughly cylindrical shape, as shown in the figure 4 This allows for a more precise angular positioning of the module around the two axes OX and OY. An equivalent result can be achieved with, for example, three hemispherical protrusions arranged in a triangle.
[0033] This clamping effect mentioned above is reinforced when the protrusion 34 slightly punctures the inner guide face 24 of the slide. The material, preferably metallic, from which the module 3 is formed has a much higher hardness than the thermoplastic material forming the optical device 2 and the slide 21. Since the contact surface between the protrusion 34 and the inner guide face 24 is reduced, the protrusion elastically deforms the guide face locally around the point of contact, which increases the pressure force between the two reference faces 22 and 32.
[0034] Here, elastic deformation means that the deformation is reversible, and that the inner guide face 24 of the slide fully recovers its initial shape when the module 3 is removed from the lighting device.
[0035] It should also be noted that it is possible to make the slide using a material with a higher hardness than modulus 3. In this case, it is the protrusion that undergoes this elastic deformation in order to obtain the same effects as those described above.
[0036] Therefore, we must talk about the elastic deformation of the system formed by the protrusion / inner guiding face couple.
[0037] In this way, the designer of the lighting device is free to choose the shape and material of the slide 21 or the protrusions 34 of the module so that they undergo the desired elastic deformations, and to choose which of these two elements deforms the least.
[0038] Finally, to ensure that this effect occurs optimally, care will be taken to reduce the number of contact points or, in other words, to ensure that the contact surface of the protrusions with the inner guide face 24 is less than, and preferably much less than, the contact surface between the inner reference face 22 of the slide 21 and the reference support face 32 of the extension 3.
[0039] The presence of two slides, arranged symmetrically on either side of the OXZ plane, helps to reduce the rotations that could occur around the OX axis.
[0040] The shape of the slides 21 can also vary. The slides shown in the figures have a lateral opening in the plane formed by the axes OXZ. Alternatively, it would be equally possible to create a slide with an opening in a frontal plane, perpendicular to the feed axis OX. The orientation of the extensions 31 is then modified accordingly. Similarly, the reference inner face 22 of the slide can be positioned at the top or bottom along the OZ direction.
[0041] The invention also provides second reference means, allowing the movements of module 3 to be blocked relative to the optical device 2 along the general direction of introduction OX.
[0042] These second reference means are formed by a second reference face (23, 29) carried by the optical device 2, which is perpendicular to the OX axis, and a second reference element (35, 39) carried by the module 3 and coming against said second reference face.
[0043] The second reference face can be supported, for example, by a wall 25 of the slide 21 connecting the inner reference face 22 and the inner guide face 24, and whose inner face 23, acting as the second reference face, is intended to abut against second reference elements 35 arranged on the front part of the extensions 31, as illustrated in figures 3 , 5, 6 et 7 .
[0044] There figure 8 allows us to illustrate another form of realization, in which the second reference face 29 (see also the figures 3 et 4 The first reference element 39 is supported by a projection 27 located on the rear part of the optical device 2. The second reference face 29 is substantially perpendicular to the OX axis. The second reference element 39 is supported by the front face of a positioning wall 38 of the module 3, which is also perpendicular to the insertion axis OX. Once the module is mounted in the slide 21, the second reference element 39 abuts against the second reference face 29 of the optical device 2.
[0045] The projection 27 may usefully include a mounting hole 27a for cooperating with a mounting hole 37 in the positioning wall 38 of the module 3. The mounting hole 37 of the module 3 may have the general shape of a round hole. A fastening means 5, such as, but not limited to, a screw, a retaining washer, or a spring-loaded sheet metal system, passing through the mounting hole 37 and penetrating the mounting hole 27a, then secures the module 3 to the optical device 2 and prevents the movement of the module 3 relative to the optical device 2 along the insertion axis OX.
[0046] To facilitate the insertion of module 3 into optical device 2, a guide means 26, installed on optical device 2, can be provided to cooperate with a guide orifice 36 located on the module. The guide orifice 36 has a substantially oblong shape in the direction of the OZ axis, so as not to interfere with the alignment in this direction of the reference inner face 22 of the slide with the reference bearing face 32 of the extension 31.
[0047] The guiding means 26 may have the form of a leg, of circular cross-section (not shown), whose longitudinal direction is oriented along the OX axis, and which is of sufficient length in the direction of the OX axis to penetrate, during the assembly operation, into the guiding orifice 36.
[0048] The guiding means (26, 36) and fixing means (27a, 37, 5) can also act as a keying device when the module 3 is to be assembled, for example, on optical devices 2 having separate photometric lighting functions of the right / left and / or code / high type.
[0049] The fixing hole 37 and the guide hole 36 are then arranged according to a first pair of respective positions on the module 3 when the optical device 2 is intended to perform a first photometric function, such as a dipped type lighting function, and the fixing hole 37 and the guide hole 36 are arranged according to a second pair of respective positions on the module 3 when the optical device 2 is intended to perform a second photometric function, such as a main beam lighting function.
[0050] Optical device 2 is arranged to perform a single photometric function chosen from the first and second photometric functions.
[0051] It is then possible to use modules 3 that are substantially identical and differ only in the respective positions of the guide holes 36 and the fixing holes 37, on optical devices 2 having different photometric functions, and on which the positions of the guide means 26 and the fixing hole 27a are adapted accordingly.
[0052] We can also, as an example, interchange the respective positions of the fixing hole 37 and the centering hole 36.
[0053] Thus, in the first pair of positions, the mounting hole 37 is positioned in a first position on the module 3 and the guide hole 36 is positioned in a second position on the module 3, when the optical device 2 is intended to perform the first photometric function. And the mounting hole 37 is positioned in said second position on the module 3, and the guide hole 36 is positioned in said first position on the module 3 when the optical device 2 is intended to perform the second photometric function.
[0054] In addition, and in order to pair a module with the appropriate optical device 2, and to place in correspondence the guiding means 26 and the guiding orifice 36, as well as the fixing orifice 27a of the optical device 2 and the fixing orifice 37 of the module, the fixing orifice 27a and the guiding means 26 of the optical device 2 are arranged according to the first pair of respective positions when the optical device 2 is intended to perform the first photometric function, and the fixing orifice 27a and the guiding means 26 of the optical device 2 are arranged according to the second pair of respective positions when the optical device 2 is intended to perform the second photometric function.
[0055] The form of embodiment of the keying device as detailed above is not limiting, and can be the subject of many variants in which the means of guidance and the means of fixing are available in well-defined locations to allow the assembly of standard elements slightly modified according to their purpose, here modules supporting a diode, on components ensuring different functions, here optical devices ensuring distinct photometric functions.
[0056] The lighting system according to the invention may finally include third reference means for blocking the movement of the module relative to the optical device along the OY axis.
[0057] These third reference means can usefully be arranged on the guiding means 26, carried by the optical device 2. The guiding means include, as illustrated in figures 8 et 9 , lateral wings 26a and 26b bearing against the lateral edges 36a and 36b, in the direction o'y', of the guide hole 36.
[0058] According to one embodiment, and for greater precision in positioning the light source, the third reference means can be formed by a third slide. The optical device then comprises three slides 21, each oriented along the OX axis, two being coplanar and the third slide being located in a plane substantially perpendicular to the first two slides. The module then includes a third extension 31 designed to work with the third slide 21. In this latter configuration, it is necessary to slightly enlarge the mounting hole 37 and the guide hole 36 in the OY direction so as to allow clearance for adjusting the position of the module 3 along the OY direction.
[0059] The assembly of module 3 onto optical device 2 is extremely simple, by inserting, in the OX direction, the guide means 26 into the guide orifice 36 so as to make the extensions 31 penetrate the slides 21. This insertion movement is interrupted when the second reference element respectively 35, 39 comes to rest against the second reference face respectively 23, 29. The screw 5 allows the assembly to be locked in both directions of the OX axis.
[0060] The assembly and disassembly of module 3 supporting the light source 4 can be done easily, thus facilitating any interventions to be carried out on the lighting system as part of vehicle maintenance.
[0061] The light source 4 is then perfectly positioned at the center O of the optical device 2, and all movements of the module 3 along and around the axes OX, OY and OZ are prohibited.
[0062] The embodiments of the invention described above are not limiting and a person skilled in the art will be able to draw from the indications given above the lessons to achieve the objectives sought within the framework of the present invention as defined by the claims. Nomenclature
